Gio didn't really, honestly, have a reason to be doing this. His physique wasn't impressive (even if he acted otherwise) and he guessed everyone else in the competition would just be some dumb meathead. But a life could only be so exciting while living with your dad and putzing around as a game store manager. And, hey, maybe he'd outdo a meathead or two.
He was bored. s**t like this? Not so boring.
As he waited for his entrance, he thought to himself, Doesn't look that hard.
He proceeded to nearly slide off the first bumper, and after a wobbly yet successful hop to the second, he almost overshot it to the third. Slightly spooked by his fumbles, he checked himself before he might wreck himself. That iota of effort seemed to save him, as it wasn't as embarrassing going forward. For now, anyway.

After his scramble to complete the first set, Gio had to deal with the fact that there was more afterwards. At least the second part looked like it was basically nothing. He took a breath, and jumped. He wasn't used to doing so many jumps all in a row, and wasn't sure about the distance. Come on, come on, come on... And-! Success! Gio caught onto the bar, and let out a long yell as he rolled down. "Yeahhhhh ******** much exercise led to sweat, though. The excitement couldn't last. His grip started to fail him as his hands got slick. He flailed a little, trying to adjust his grip with each hand, but it wouldn't stick.
All he could do was will the bar to get him to the end before he might fall.

Hands so slick, they made it easy to leap to the next set. Too easy, even. Gio catapulted in the air. Control? What's that? He flew so far, so fast, that he could see the water coming up, fast. He lashed a hand out. He was already sailing past, almost too far-
He lurched backwards, arm hooked around the tree. Salvation! Not out of the race yet. He clung on for dear life. The tree wavered back and forth. Okay. He had to keep going before he started looking lame. He jumped again with a battle cry, another leap that led to only loosely holding on to the trapeze. Another near-miss. Damn. His legs must be too powerful! Or something.
Gio swung back and forth a few times, hands getting sweaty again. s**t. He'd have to jump again. And he wasn't doing great. He could either fall, or jump. What flavor of embarrassment, Pyrino?
He grew angry at the thought. He was here to laugh at the competition, not be laught at himself! With another shout, he jumped again. He didn't quiet down, even though every jump was long and risky, and every time he held on there was a threat he'd slip hard and fast.

Gio landed, feet flat down on the bridge between obstacles. Finally, some sort of floor, thank god. He was tired of jumping and holding onto stuff. He wiped his hands on his shorts while he jogged to the next set. Spinny blocks ahead! Reminded him of preschool. And, like, screw that. Gio was tired of getting tripped up, having heart attacks, embarrassments and such. Something so simple wouldn't kick his a**, not after everything else. He wouldn't let it.
Either through pure force of will, or maybe he actually had good legs somehow, or by just by adapting to the course itself, Gio ran across the blocks without any trouble at all. What a huge shift from the rest of his Zenith experience so far! He kept up a good pace, and whenever the blocks spun, it usually was after he had just crossed over them.
Somehow, without taking a real break, he managed to find his second wind.

Gio groaned. He could see the spin cycle coming up. Back into the jump-n-hold fire we go. He sucked it up and jumped. He grabbed on immediately, with no imminent threat of slipping. As he started to spin, now that's when he realized what he was in for. The cyle went around in lazy loops, and there was no way for his thin arms to do anything about it. He spun around and around, then took a leap. He caught onto the next cycle, breathless. He couldn't take as much time on this one; his hands were getting clammy again.
Hup! Another jump, another desperate cling. He spun between water and floor. Getting a little dizzy...
He just had to wing it, or else he'd just be spinning forever until he barfed and passed out.

He jumped down, and stumbled. Still a bit dizzy... Gio shook his head. His feet didn't feel wet; none of him did. Well, he was sweaty, but he hadn't fallen in the water. Which meant, one more obstacle. Then he'd be done, and move on! Hell yeah! Gio huffed and puffed, needing a moment before his final go.
One. Last. Go. Hell. Yes.
Gio bent down. In a form mimicking Olympic runners on TV, he ran up to the wall. Adrenaline coursing through his body, he flew off his feet. Gio slammed into the wall, hands holding on up time. Grunting, he pulled himself up bit by bit. He flopped over, then rolled down. The hell run finally behind him, he victory-jogged to the button. He smacked it good and hard. Done, suckers!
Gio flipped the course off behind him and went off to chill.
