__This was it. This was her moment to shine and show Kanzaki just how much she had learned! Or at least it should have been until her teacher was consumed under the pile of rocks. Ikuyo felt so flabbergasted at both her ease of victory and of a random dog entering the battlefield that she entirely forgot to move herself. As it's crumbling came to a standstill the woodswoman stumbled forward to face plant just a few inches from where Kanzaki would pop out. Legs tangled in the dust of it all Ikuyo quickly righted herself from being in such a compromising position, the embarrassment touch on her checks. "Wha- wha did dat dag come from?!" Before she even finished her sentence she knew that it was stupid but the abnormality of the situation left her sitting there confuddled.
Giving herself time to adjust to it all Ikuyo shimmied along the rocks and pebbles just enough so that her extended hand could sit a few inches away from the animals snoot. It was old wolf taming technique, let the animal be the one to make contact but show you aren't a threat. She had those words drilled into her from youth, as it something every clansman was expected to master given on how seriously their clan relied on the kinship. Granted you usually would offer a part of your meal to foster the friendship, but Ikuyo wasn't dealing with a wild beast. As far as she could tell this good boy belonged to Kanzaki and thus wouldn't attack her... right?

__A bright smile couldnβt help but spread along her face at Kaoruβs approving handshake. It was without a doubt the most adorable thing she had ever seen! It was all she could do to keep herself from gasping aloud but a fear that it plant a less than responsible reputation with her now two mentors kept her in check. She might have jested with Kanzaki I the past, but the reality of how long sheβd known him was still fresh in her thoughts and actions. People didnβt care for the serious or annoying qualities in another either way, her past had shown her that much and if she was honest with herself? Ikuyo was enjoying herself here and didnβt want to ruin it by asking more than the bare minimum.
All seriousness aside, as the woodswoman took Kanzakiβs helping hand her joyful expression remained unfazed by Kaoruβs playful teases of her being too good for him. In fact, Ikuyo even choose to play along with it. Using a little bit of the momentum from being lifted up Ikuyo cut into his personal space to give Kanzaki a kiss on the cheek before pulling back in mock thought. βYeah you're roi, oi'm too good for 'him.β Before she took off she gave them both a wink and made her way towards finding the exit.
Now free to go off on her own Ikuyo felt the need to wonder while she waited for Kanzaki to finish with whatever he needed to. This place might have been better than most with how open it is but the forests and nature was where she really felt at home. Letting her feet carry her wherever they willed, Ikuyo absent mindedly enjoyed her surroundings. It was a weird thing to be able to do whatever she wanted with no one to care. All the people here simply passed by too busy worrying about their own business to care about her. It was both freeing and isolating at the same time. Guess Iβll just have to get used to it. During her walk along the cobblestone roads Ikuyo found herself traveling through a wooded park area, the first real show of plant life this side of the gate. Careful eye overlooking the youngling seeds start their journey into sprouthood Ikuyo felt a pain in her heart to see how more than a few werenβt getting the attention they needed. After a frequent number of stops to aid whatever plant she thought needed it did Ikuyo at last come across the center of the shady little park. The mossy stone floor had long since ended by this point so that her feet met with the cold dirt of a circular clearing. It must have been beautiful at one point in itβs life but now it was torn up by a old man. Any anger Ikuyo could have felt at that moment was cooled however when she noticed the delicately wrapped human shape to the side. Heβs digging a grave. [ 3 // 4 ]
Indeed he was dipping a grave but from the shaking of his hands she could tell that he was too old for the job. Here was something she could at least. Without much warning Ikuyo came up behind the man like a ghost and with a single hand, raised the earth from the ground. The excess dirt come bubbling up to the surface as if there was air pushing it up from below. βWha-β The man shifted backwards startled but slowly relaxed when he found her to only be human. βWus it yisser wife?β She asked solemnly, hoping not to cause too much disrespect. Clearly it was a yes from the tears the came streaming from his eyes. βYes. We.. used to care for this place. It was her wish to be buried here and I donβt care what no law man says neither so if thatβs why youβre here..β From his voice it was clear that he wasnβt in the business of hearing no. Something Ikuyo could respect despite him clearly being into his eighties. βNaw, iβm only 'ere ter 'elp. if thatβs aioight?β The old man relaxed and nodded which Ikuyo took as her sign to continue. Lifting the body as carefully as she could and refilling the fresh gave with a single handsign. βWaaat wus 'er favorite flower?βββ¦Marigold.β The response was fraught with tears that Ikuyo pretended not to notice. With a final touch the woodswoman grew the selected flower over the top of the dirt until it covered it completely as a new flower bed. Then moving to stand besides the man the two of them held a silent ceremony in remembrance.

__For a long time not a word was spoken between the two but eventually the old man was the first to break the silence. βIβm going to miss this place. Iβ¦ never was a good gardener but she dedicated her life to this place.β Choking up again at her memory he continued. βI just wish I could at least keep it going.β Turning her head slightly to look over the garden before her Ikuyo smiled to herself. It was like seeing it in a new light, one that revealed all the love that had gone into in the past even if itβs appearance had disoriented. βMay oi return 'ere? oi can elp yer luk after de place oi mean.β The elder man seemed to be stunned by her words clearly not expecting help from a stranger and Ikuyo found herself wondering if anyone had ever offered him help. βI.. wouldnβt mind that I think. Yes.β He was quiet for a moment more before he went rummaging through the sack he had stashed his shovel in and retrieved what looked to be a sword wrapped up in a brown linen clothe. Ikuyo figured where it was going but was cut off by the man before she could deny him. βNow donβt you tell me no. My fighting days are past me now and I want to pass this on to someone who deserves it.β Not wanting to reject the manβs request, Ikuyo uncomfortably took the weapon off his hands but kept it at her side. βOi promise ter wield it wi' 'onour.ββNo honor, just use it to save those you care about. Though she didnβt realize it until she was walking back, Ikuyo had taken far more steps than she realized. Feet felt like they were going to blister from the stone hard surfaces. Ugh Iβm going to need to pull up from tree sap ointment sometime. Her directions were at the very least, in much better shape than her toes and the woodswoman was able to find her mentor again easily, hopping up to him in her now standard springy step. __It seemed to be that her instincts were correct, which she took no solace in. The only question left now was what exactly had happened in the short time she was gone that could shake him so? Espically when he was able to go right back to his jest and jokes right after Kagami had so flippantly threatened to kill him. The seriousness was no lost on her, but Ikuyo wasn't the type to pry into personal affairs. In fact she wanted just the opposite, that maybe she could distract him from the pain by bringing up another subject? Luckily she wouldn't have to think too hard on the subject when Kanzaki opened up the perfect door. "Ah! yer loike it? you'll never believe waaat oi foun'! raun 'ere av al' places a garden, filled wi' dohs gorgeous flowers..." Ikuyo continued on her tale of the old man and the garden as they both walked to wherever it was he would lead her.
__ Once Kagami stepped through the portal she appeared in her office in the Kogarashi Institute. She walked around the complex calling in all of her agents with the radio. They knew that it was time and she was more than willing to interrupt any other operations they had. Ikuyo and Kanzaki were called to attend as well should they agree. She left her office and walked into the large courtyard of the institute as all of the rogue operatives lined up. "I'm here to confirm that...Uzushiogakure has been destroyed!" When she made her formal declarative announcement they all loudly cheered. It was thanks in no small part to her operatives on the ground who were continuously sowing the seeds of chaos between the two remaining nations. "Soon we attack Arashigakure! Your assignment is to help me infiltrate the mongrel village. Our crusade is almost done!" As the anarchists cheered once more she walked up and down the line with files containing detailed information on the assault. There would be Commander Sandayu attacking the Land of Floods, the imperial forces, and the village gates themselves. The agents and Kagami had the plan to quietly infiltrate the main village, assassinate the kage, and create chaos from within to rot the core before their inevitable destruction. Once she was done she stood at the ready until Sandayu would give her the signal.

__ Sandayu silently appeared from a spiraling rift in space behind where Kagami was finishing delivering a brief debriefing of their next move. His dark grey eyes were softer than normal, mostly for him being momentarily lost in the memories that never would be with her or their child. 'I don't care what that blue-haired witch said. I will seize my own destiny!' He couldn't resign himself to the fate described to him so easily. If what Zhi described was guaranteed no matter what then so be it, but he'd fight tooth and nail all the way through to it for a different outcome. His resolve still felt a little shaky in considering the other warnings that came with his selfish resistance to the given prophecies. Even he could somewhat sense it in himself, but he knew his best option was to continue forward as always. Finally, he would reveal his presence by speaking. "It is time. Rather than the spiraling method of travel through Kamui, a Yomotsu Hiraska gateway opened as a tearing rift in space to allow for Sandayu and anyone else to travel as they saw fit. He understood that Kagami and her operatives had their own objectives so he didn't mind her carrying them out however she would. Sanda stepped through the portal to where he would carry out his own part in the plan. The portal would linger open for a short while for anyone else to follow, but he wasn't counting on it since he'd asked to handle it himself anyway.
