Something needed to happen for Nambulite, and soon. His trigger fingers were itching, and he wanted to be part of some action. He sometimes even still carried that Polaris Squire's emblem around as a trophy. Hey, it wasn't a starseed, but it was something! A little proof that he was actually trying to do his job, unlike some layabouts. (Who? He didn't know, but someone out there, certainly.)

A small bright spot registered on the edge of his senses. Not a senshi; had to be a Knight. A Page, specifically. Finally, someone on his level! He stood a chance of grabbing a starseed this time. One starseed probably wouldn't make him a "hero," but it would be a start. He darted towards the signature, ready to make with the fisticuffs. This was gonna be good, definitely.

Stretching out, Xibalba considered packing things in for the night and going home. Nothing much was happening and the idea of getting to bed at a decent time was so very tempting.

As he pondered, he felt a dark blot scrape against his senses. And it was getting closer. Interesting. Now, it could be someone coming to investigate him. As he understood auras, they'd surely be able to feel him by now. And the aura he'd sensed seemed to be getting closer. Well then. Looked like he wouldn't be getting an early night.

Getting slowly to his feet, the burly page continued to stretch, each movement slightly calculated to be slightly intimidating. Or would be if the person approaching was on the tiny side. Hopefully.

Shaking out his arms, Xibalba sighed and then crossed them over his chest. All he could do now was wait and hope it wasn't some snotty little senshi bearing down on him.

Nope, not a snotty little senshi, just Lieutenant Nambulite, on the tallish and slender side. When he arrived on the scene, he did a mild double take. Hoo-ee, this guy was a brawny one. But with his chest exposed, and an emblem right there for the yanking, things didn't look totally grim for Nambulite. Long as he was quick and slippery, he could snag a trophy or two and be done with it. (Granted, he could access a starseed as long as he could get to the chest or back, regardless of armor or covering, but it made sense at the time.) This guy was a Mars Knight from the look of it. Interesting!

"Well, hel-lo, hot stuff," Nambulite said with an ominous chuckle. "Care to donate some energy? At least I've got more sense than to just straight-up ask for your starseed. I'll work for that!" Without warning, he darted forward, ready to use momentum to knock the Page over and maybe just dive straight for the starseed.

Arching an eyebrow at the officer's words, Xibalba had to fight to keep his eyes from rolling back into his skull. The chuckle alone smacked of trying to damn hard. But combined with the words and bum rush, it seemed as if this guy was just way too keen.

Still, Xibalba kept a careful eye on the officer and waited with tensed muscles. At the last possible second, he side-stepped and swung out with a balled fist, aiming for a hip or shoulder. Just something to knock the other off balance a little.

"Ye talk too much, lad."

Nambulite's momentum was used against him, and he ran shoulder-first into the big man's fist. He let out an ungainly howl of pain and jumped back, clutching his shoulder. That was going to leave a mark. Totally ignoring the comment about talking too much, he hissed, "You thought that'd stop me, didn't you? No way!" Once again, he charged at the Page, but his hand wasn't aiming directly for the starseed area. Instead, it seemed that he was grabbing for that one emblem near his chest. Small victories first, then big ones. If he developed a collection of Knight emblems, wouldn't that be something?

There'd have to be a starseed in that collection someday, though. Someday.

Brows furrowing as the officer howled and hissed, Xibalba began to wonder if the guy wasn't supplying both sides of whatever conversation was going on here. Though the Bond Villain-y quality of the officer's remark certainly seemed to indicate something going on in the dude's head.

More importantly though, was the hand making it's way towards his chest. Oh no. Xibalba didn't think so. Growling a little under his breath, the page thought that he would have to time this very carefully. And hope it worked since he'd never actually done it before.

Waiting until that grasping hand was closer than he liked, Xibalba lashed out, seizing the officer's arm by both the meat of the upper arm and the wrist and turning rapidly. He wanted momentum to throw the officer across the ground. Or, at the very least, unsettle the ******** enough to get away. And if he was very lucky, maybe he'd dislocate the dude's elbow. Once he thought he had enough force built up, he let go of the officer.

"Y'still talk to much," he drawled softly.

So, the Page was right to protect his chest, even if Nambulite wasn't quite going for the starseed. He really should have expected a counter. This guy did not look like the kind of guy who sat and waited for things to happen, or just let them happen, or was passive in any way at all. Nambulite was having Regrets, to say the least. There really was no such thing as an easy target. Once again, the purple-haired lieutenant howled in somewhat exaggerated pain; Xibalba hadn't managed to dislocate anything, but he'd definitely succeeded on the unsettling front.

"All right, all right, Uncle! I give! You keep your starseed and your emblem today, Page of Mars," Nambulite said, trampling right over the repeated assertion that he talked too much. In fact, he kept freaking talking, because he had an idea. Not an idea he could do much with right now, but maybe if he planted the seeds of doubt... "Y'know, I feel like we could use a guy like you. You're tough and you've got guts! We could take that raw material, polish it up, make it really shine! Obviously, you don't have to make the decision right now, but... think about it?" Yeah, okay.

Bwah, sorry, the muse ran off after being noisy like that -_-

Was this guy insane? Was that his problem? Annoyance was very quickly ceding ground to sheer confusion as the officer howled and then went right back to talking. On the one hand, Xibalba had to admire that sort of tenacity. But on the other he was wanting to take the guy to a nice padded room before he hurt himself.

Brows furrowing even more, Xibalba snorted quietly at the officer's sales pitch. If this was an example of the sort of fighters they recruited, then he was certain they could use someone like him. But... his emblem? This nutjob had been after one of the Mars symbols that decorated his uniform? No doubt, dude was nuts. Still.

"Don't need tae think about it," he drawled as he broke one of the small bronze tablets from his belt before tossing it at the officer. "Answer's no, Ah'm shiny enough as is. But I can spare ye an emblem, mah wee magpie. Just stop talkin'."

Nambulite caught the emblem that was thrown to him and eyed it critically. Well, it wasn't like it could be counterfeit or anything. Magpie, huh? Yeah, he was feeling like a magpie right about now. More like a pigeon, those rats with wings that pooped everywhere. A pigeon that couldn't even poop in just the right spot to be wildly inconvenient, just gross.

Pigeon poop wasn't a pretty thought. He quickly abandoned that line of thinking before it went any further out of control. He huffed and tucked the emblem into subspace, next to that one Polaris emblem. "Thanks," he mumbled, much quieter than before and with none of his usual cocky gusto. Looking around as though someone might be watching, he took a few steps back, then fled the scene, feeling thoroughly put out and pathetic. The least he could do was report the Page sighting, but seriously, that was a horrible showing. He hoped he wouldn't be reprimanded for it.

The officer's sudden quiet was unnerving after the villain-y speeches. Even more unnerving was how he'd turned and fled so quickly. Xibalba stayed where he was for a moment, just in case this was some sort of trick. And only when the officer didn't return did he relax slightly and give a shrug.

Making his own way home, Xibalba thought on the officer's invitation and shook his head. Madness to even suggest such a thing. And it wasn't as if it was anything he'd ever consider. Not seriously at any rate.
