The longest standing business on Whale Island is the tavern and inn owned by resident Ingrid Kos. She is a sixty-three year old widower who oversees the inn itself, but does hire quite a few worker to take care of the cleaning in the inn while she maintains the front tavern. Some newbie hunters who pass through often get simple tasks from her. The tavern itself has a very rustic feel and is often visited by the townsfolk. Evenings get rather busy, but Ingrid manages to handle it just fine. Behind the tavern are six room and up the stairs to the second floor are six more. Hunters can choose to use this as a place to stay for short periods of time. If you need to recover at a Home Thread, you can pay a fee of J20,000 to rest here until you leave the island. Each time you leave and return to the island, you must pay the fee once more.

Whale Island Special Meat Pie [ J12,000 ] A delicious meat pie filled six different types of meat from different sources all over Whale Island. It's an acquired taste for sure, as there's too many different flavors an textures mixed together. People who live here get used to these pies as they are extremely filling. Eating this pie outside of combat recovers 20% of HP, Stamina, and Aura.
Baluga Ale [ J5,000 ] A signature brew of ale that happens to be the only brew of any type of malt beverage on Whale Island. There's plenty of other liquors that would get you much drunker than this. It doesn't taste too terrible, though. It takes four of these items to gain one point of intoxication. This item won't be sold to anyone under the age of 18. This must be consumed in this instance it is purchased.
Seea Vodka Shot [ J8,000 ] A potent, crystal clear liquor that is guaranteed to make anyone feel a little tipsy from a couple shots. The burn is pretty terrible and your whole body begins to feel hot, but it's all still usually bearable. It takes two of these to gain a point of intoxication. This item won't be sold to anyone under the age of 18. This must be consumed in this instance it is purchased.
Worm Innit Tequila Shot [ J13,000 ] A murky, golden liquor from a bottle that contains what seems to be a coiled, meter-long worm at the bottom. Only those who want to get drunk fast buy this drink. It takes one shot of this to gain a point of intoxication.

Yami Matsuoda [ Dangerous Game Specialist | Level 1 Hunter ] The red-headed foxbear cub murderer pushed his way into the tavern seeming to be walking a bit better now that he used that medicine. He looked around the place and notice just how totally dead it was. There were the two at the bar with an arm around each other's shoulder talking and they seemed to be the mandatory regular drunks. Yami turned his attention to the woman working the bar. She was older and seemed to have a matriarchal vibe about her. She was probably the owner and the person to talk to about getting booze and a room. He strode over to the bar counter, clear on the other side from the two drunk fellows, and slapped J33,000 on the counter. "How's this for a room and a shot of tequila?" The old woman counted and nodded. She pulled a key out from below the counter and placed it before Yami. The key had the inscription of the number 7 on it, obviously meaning it was for room number 7. She then turn around and swiped a bottle of tequila from the back shelf. She poured a generous shot and slid the glass in front of Yami. He lifted it up and shot the liquor right down the hatch with a satisfied "Aaaaahhhhhh..." of a sigh. "Thanks lady. I need to get upstairs and rest." And with that, he had gone upstairs to get himself some sleep.

Yami Matsuoda [ Dangerous Game Specialist | Level 1 Hunter ] Sleep didn't ever come fast for Yami, especially if he wasn't exactly drunk. One shot didn't do it for him, but at least he had some good liquor. While he was waiting for his mind settle and he could sleep, Yami took on the task of sewing back up his clothes. He always keep some thread and a needle on him just in case he get mobbed by foxbears or something along the lines. He would spend the next twenty minutes or so fixing up the multiple tears in his clothing. The act of sewing was actually rather calming for Yami. It was a change of pace for him. Normally he is always angry and aggressive and hits with a heavy, evil hand. This was slow and required patience and control. As he continued to do it, he could feel his mind start to wander. He was starting to feel his eyes get heavy and his body lose its strength. It was time for rest. He needed it. There were more beasts in that forest that he wouldn't mind killing. Maybe he'd have a chance to find a mother bear. Proof of her kill would fetch a penny from the Hunter's Association.

In the span of time Yami would take resting his eyes to the moment he awoken, little would change at his room in the Inn save for a new presence. One that would be unfamiliar to the Hunter. The bespectacled stranger, dressed in fine clothing with a wool coat, sat at the foot of the boy's bed, observing quietly without making a single sound. Though his features seemed soft, there seemed to be an ominous power behind his golden yellow eyes. Little by little, the man allowed his aura to flow from his body, as if to coax the boy to wake from his sleep. "You impress me, boy." His voice, deep like thunder but smooth like an ocean wave, seemed well controlled but had an undertone of something monstrous locked within. "Such raw potential would go to waste without appropriate training. Perhaps I can be of assistance?"
Rising from his chair, the man's size became evident now. Standing at a full 6'4, the stranger's bulging musculature could be seen through his dress shirt. "What do you say? Think of it as a favour, so that you may pay me back with a spar in the future, boy." The wild, almost animalistic undertone of his voice was slowly overpowering his calm and collected attitude now, and there was an almost twisted look of dark intent in his eyes followed by a wide grin across his bearded face as he loomed over Yami's bed.
Yami Matsuoda [ Outlaw Hunter | Level 2 Hunter ] Eyes heavy, arms heavy, legs heavy, mom's spaghetti. Yami felt refreshed enough to warrant waking up, but he really didn't want to. Whatever time it was, it was too early to be awake and sober. He was broke and could afford to drink. Smokes were too expensive nowadays and he had no clue where to find any on this island. Even through all his reservations, Yami opened his eyes. He stared stared to the ceiling and then began to feel a presence, something he had unconsciously been feeling for some time even while sleeping. Yami's eyes shifted to the new person in the room.
The man spoke to Yami about training and repaying him in the future with a fight. That sounded fishy, but he was also oddly compelling. Yami couldn't tell if he was interested on his own accord or due to the presence this man gave off. As the man spoke, Yami lifted his head a bit and then his body, folding forward and sitting with his legs crossed on the bed. He happened to be fully clothed and laying on top of the covers of the bed. He was an odd sleeper.
"You're pretty ******** forward, you know that?" Yami answered after hearing what the guy had to say. He didn't seem to get the sense that he was in danger, but he did get the sense that he wasn't going to get away from here so easily. "I don't know what kind of training you mean to give me. I'm not some martial artist or expert fighter. I honestly just like killing things or beating the crap out of people. If you're offering something that'll help me do that, I can say I'm in, but you gotta give me some more details." Yami felt that he could maybe learn a thing or two from this strange bedroom invader.

Eyeing the boy, the stranger grunted. There was a gleam in his eye as he unleashed his aura now. It filled the room in the blink of an eye, creating a pressure that was so dense and thick that Yami would feel rooted to his bed and unable to move. "This, boy." He said as he raised his arms in a flashy gesture. "Power. Beyond your wildest imagination... passing the Hunter exam is just one minor step in the grand scheme of things. Your real test, it begins now." As he allowed his aura to dissipate, the man let out a bellowing laugh. From his coat pocket, the man produced a small black device. He tossed it onto the bed as he circled around Yami to stand by the bedside table now. "First thing's first, you'll need this. Can't do jack s**t as a hunter if you don't know who needs what.
"Now, I've been watching you, boy. You might not be an expert fighter just yet, but it seems like you're ready for the next stage. Maybe in a few decades you might even stand a chance against me!" He laughed, letting his aura pulsate once again as it thickened the tension in the room. "Are you gonna get off your a** and accept my offer, boy?" Offering his hand out to Yami, the man waited for a response. "I don't got all day."

He'd be able to afford as much booze, smokes, hookers, and expensive a** food as he wanted!
Yami slid off from the bed and swiped the phone that handed on it. He threw the phone in his pocket and then reached out to grab the man's hand. "You got yourself a ********' deal. I'm ready for whatever you can throw at me. Call me boy one more ********' time, though, and I'm gonna get pissed!"

"Now, relax!" That would be the last thing Yami heard in the stranger's low raspy whisper of a voice as, in the moment Yami took his hand, the stranger unexpectedly pulled Yami straight into his closed fist. The stranger's fist connected with the boy's sternum and would send an intense rush of energy to course through Yami's body. Letting go of the Hunter, the stranger stepped back and crossed his arms over his chest, watching with twisted pleasure as he chuckled. "First lesson... I've just unlocked the aura in your body. Prove to me you aren't just a child, and keep it from being spilled out of your body. Control it, use it like a cloak around you and don't let it escape. Run out of aura, and you die, so you better be quick about it. Don't you dare disappoint me, boy."

Ten (点, Point) The user shrouds their body in aura. The aura forms a basic, shell-like shield over the whole body. This ability is useful in reducing damage from incoming Nen attacks. Using this ability reduces incoming damage from a Nen-based attack equal to 10% of your Aura Stat. This lasts until another ability from the Nen of the Flame list or the Advanced Nen list is used, or until dismissed by the user. Technique Type: Nen Point Cost: 10 Aura Requirements: The training for basic Ten consists of focusing one's aura and allowing it to envelop into a shroud around the body. To begin, the master that is conducting the training must release the aura nodes in the body. This is usually done through a direct strike using Nen. The master will ensure this strike does not kill the trainee. After taking the hit, the trainee must exert all of their effort shroud oneself will their aura. 200 words are required to be posted in training this technique.
Yami Matsuoda [ Outlaw Hunter | Level 2 Hunter ] As he grabbed the man's hand Yami felt his body get tugged just slightly and then biggest shock to his system he'd ever felt. A massive impact cracked against his sternum. His body lifted a solid foot off the ground and he fell back down, planting his feet, then falling to his knees and clutching his chest. He fell forward and planted his forehead to the hardwood floor as he gasped for air. He could feel the aura leaving his body. It felt like all the air was escaping from his lungs. He vomited. He couldn't hold anything inside of his body. He had to stop this. Yami focused as hard as he could. Turn it into a shroud? What did that mean! Yam was struggling to understand how to control it. He focused as hard as he could, but couldn't get a hold of it. His vision was growing blurry. He couldn't stay awake much longer. His vision faded to black. Yami fell unconscious and rolled over onto the floor.
Yami now stood one what looked to be a concrete patio floating in the cloud with glorious golden light shin down all around. Upon this quite large, about 20m in diameter and perfectly circular, was a massive AND super fat man sitting in a throne made of stone with a Roman style to it. The man was dressed in a toga and wore a leaf laurel crown on his head. The man spoke as Yami approached him.
"Welcome to my home. I am Bacchus, the god of the most holy drinks and the most glorious food. Here, you may consume all you wish! Come and take a seat!" With the wave of his massive hand, a glorious golden throne appeared before Yami and a table made of gold just in front of it topped with platters of glistening meats, cheeses, wines, and ales. Yami could resist moving immediately to the throne and grabbing a large turkey leg and a golden cup of wine. He tore into the leg of meat and gulped down the liquor. "Hahaha! Nothing makes me happier than a happy guest! I assume you have come here to seek my power like many have come before. What have you come to say to earn my favor, mortal?" Yami would swallow the meat and wine in one massive gulp, then setting down the meal on the table.
"You know, I didn't think any of this would happen. I'm not here by choice, but if what I have to do to have the power to get whatever I want, then I'm here for that! If you can give me the power to get booze, smokes, hookers, and all this delicious ********' food, then I'm in for the long haul. I won't stop drinking til I die. Smoking can't kill me. I won't let it. And holy s**t do I love me some prostitutes. If you want someone who is all about that kind of s**t, then yeah I want your power!" Yami was determined now to take everything in the world for his own. He wanted nothing but the finest. He wanted gold, food, drinks, women, and everything he could every desire. He would take this power if granted to him to obtain that.
Bacchus roared out laughing and bent over to stare at the much smaller human man. He shouted out in his booming voice, "Bahahaha! I like you, human! You just want luxury and as do I! However you go about doing that, I will lend you my power! The more you drink, smoke, eat, and ********, you'll gain more power! Go now, and conquer the world with my power, mortal!" With that, Bacchus pushed his hand forward out at Yami and he began to feel himself being pulled backwards and out of the golden throne.
Before he even saw where he was going, Yami opened his eyes awake in the room. He could feel a warm sensation like a blanket had been wrapped all around him. It was a little heavy at first, but suddenly felt weightless in just seconds, but still was warm. He got up from the ground and lifted himself up onto the bed at first. He took a few deep breaths and then stood up tall. He could balance now.
"How long was I out?" he asked with a yawn. He felt surprisingly rested but also drained at the same time. He just wished he didn't feel so sober.

Roaring with laughter, the blonde stranger slapped his thigh at Yami's immediate reaction. The flow of power must have been a strong one given the boy's reaction to his aura being forcibly released, and that was exactly what the man was hoping for. "Good!" He roared with excitement, his voice almost shaking the room as he grabbed the boy by the shoulders and gave them a tight squeeze. "You remind me of myself when I was in your spot, Yami. Now that you've gotten a hang of that, let's see you douse that aura completely. Shut it all off, stop it from flowing out of your body."
With one swift motion, the man's jacket came off as it was tossed onto the bed. He rolled his sleeves up before cracking his knuckles. "You've earned the right to know who's kicking your a** today. Name's Igor, from the Hunter's Association." Clenching his hand into a tight fist, the man shut his eyes tightly. "Now shut that s**t down like I told you to. If I detect it at all I'll put you down, right here, right now."
Igor began to circle around the room now, moving slow and methodically with his eyes closed. If Yami should ever falter in hiding his aura, Igor was ready to lash out immediately.

Technique Type: Nen Point Cost: 0 Aura Requirements: The trainee must close all of the aura nodes that they just opened through Ten in order to stop the flow of aura. This training takes a total of 200 words to complete the training for this technique.
Yami Matsuoda [ Outlaw Hunter | Level 2 Hunter ] Yami was still getting used to the feeling of even having this aura thing. Now he was going to have to learn to turn it off? He didn't even know how he turned it on! He just passed out and woke up with it on after a weird dream. Now he was supposed to just magically learn to control his aura right now or else he was going to have the threat of getting hit come knocking. "I'll show you that I can succeed at anything!" Yami widened his stance and bent his knee, then just tried so hard to tense his entire body to somehow create enough pressure to close off his flow of aura. This had absolutely no effect. He actually was just stressing out his muscles and almost giving himself a headache. This only went on for about twenty seconds before he stopped and began panting heavily. He stood up straight and took a deep breath, resting his arms at his sides. He need to try one more time, but he had to change his pace and use a different method. He had no idea what would work, but it had to either take a lot of effort or be a mental picture. It was time to do a mental picture.
Yami took in a deep breath and relaxed every muscle of his body. He focused his mind. He didn't bring up a mental image immediately as he was searching for what felt the most natural. He pictured a water well with the bucket and pulley system to raise and lower it. The well was overflowing with water, pouring out water from over the top and splashing out everywhere. Yami would picture the well slowly giving out less water and eventually it coming to a stop, no water above the level of the well. As he pictured this image, his aura would stop flowing out from his body. It felt just like he did when he woke up. Too sober, kinda depressed, and annoyed like always. He opened his eyes and looked to Igor. "That good enough, old man?"

With his brows furrowed in annoyance at Yami's comment, the man took a deep breath before shaking his head, a wide smirk on his face. "Watch your tongue, boy." He retorted with a chuckle. "Or this old man will rip it out and shove it up yer a**." Igor was impressed with how fast the boy was learning. There was no mistaking Yami would turn out to be a fine hunter one day. "Alright, next we'll move onto something a little different. You learned Ten, to shroud yourself in Aura, and Zetsu, to conceal your Aura from others... now I'll teach you Ren. Picture that aura flowing out, concentrate it into your hands or into your feet. Feel what it's like to have your body boosted with Aura. If you concentrate it into your core, you'll find that you have better control over your movements."

Ren (錬, Temper) The user focuses Aura to be more condensed in certain parts of their body. Focusing it to the hands or feet increases the Strength stat by 10% of the Aura Stat. Focusing on both legs increased the Speed Stat by 10% of the Aura Stat (doesn't increase Evasion). Focusing on one's core and back increases the Evasion Stat by 10% of the Aura Stat. This lasts until another ability from the Nen of the Flame list or the Advanced Nen list is used, or until dismissed by the user. Switching the buff applied by this technique costs only 5 Aura. Technique Type: Nen Point Cost: 10 Aura Requirements: The trainee must make three post to learn Ren. The first post must be at least 150 words learning to increase the amount of aura in the hands and feet. The second post of 150 words must be learning to focus aura into both legs. The third post of 150 words is learning to focus aura in the core, around the diaphragm.
Yami Matsuoda [ Outlaw Hunter | Level 2 Hunter ] Yami spit to the ground when Igor said he'd rip out his tongue. Yami wouldn't censor himself for anyone. He didn't give two shits about how anyone felt about what he said. But he did follow instruction rather well. This next task seemed to really be an easier one. He was able to trigger ten pretty easily to give himself access to his aura. The next part was to rather focus aura into a specific part of the body. It didn't take too much effort to push the flow of aura to his hands. As he did so, he felt a strong surge of strength when his flow began flow much more so into his hands. He aimed to some empty space in the room and threw a couple jabs and wide hooks. His punches felt good. He imagined what we could do with a weapon.
Yami stopped shadowboxing and stood still. He focused on the flow of aura once more and this time he sent to flow into his feet. It was instinctual at this point to the send aura to these points on his body. He lifted his leg and kicked into the air a couple times, switched which foot he stood upon and kicked again with the next foot. It felt so natural to control aura this way. Is this what that guy meant when he said that he had potential?

Yami Matsuoda [ Outlaw Hunter | Level 2 Hunter ] Yami had to try out the next thing. He moved his aura expertly to his legs and began to move excitedly. He felt raw speed flowing through him. He dashed around to the other side of the room, towards the front door, and then came back to where he was. He leaped over the bed twice to just prove that he had the hang of this. Yami began to imagine all the different things he could do with a power like this. He could run from the cops, chase people down, earn tons of money. His possibilities seemed to grow exponentially as he began to realize his dreams. He could do anything he damn well wanted in this world with enough power and he was so close to getting to the point of realizing some sort of dream of his. He turned and looked to Igor before speaking. "I'm gonna be a king one day. I'll rule my own land and have everyone know that I'm the boss. When I've amassed my kingdom, I'm gonna take you up on that fight you mentioned earlier. When that time comes, I'll pay you back."
