Characters I am using | Jigen and Arsene

Since Arsene and Jigen were cubs they had heard stories of a pride hidden by the mists and about a group of lions who'd journeyed out of the mists in search of a great treasure. Their father Yuan had opted to seek a different kind of treasure by breaking off from the pride entirely and pursuing a life with Kozo.

That hadn't ended well. Kozo had died shortly after the cubs were weaned and left a huge whole in their fathers life as well as the cubs.

Some how Yuan managed to raise these cubs just fine. With out Kozo he had to resort to his old thieving ways to make sure there was enough food for his hungry cubs and of course Arsene and Jigen were keen on learning the ways of a thief from their father. Arsene in particular ate up all the stories of treasure to be had and grand adventure.

Those stories were alive in both of the cubs hearts as was the tale of the wayward pride travelers seeking their treasure filled haven was too romantic not to dream of. It took a lot of effort but finally Jigen and Arsene were pretty sure they were at the borders of the pride they sought.

"I am pretty sure this is it." Arsene puffed his chest out proudly dawning a very silly grin on his maw. He was pleased.

"It damn well better be." Jigen wasn't as amused.

Sahani and Odijo had met Arsene and Jigen when they were younger. They had parted ways perhaps too soon, but it was all worthwhile in the end. Once the two swampy-bred children were old enough, they bid their parents goodbye and wanted to travel the world. It was only fair, the stories and teaching of Talahm always stuck in the mind of his children, especially Sahani. She enjoyed what he had to say, and couldn't wait to learn more and pass that knowledge off.

During their travels, they ended up meeting the two cubs they had once played Splash War with. Well, they weren't cubs though anymore. Like her brother and her, they had grown, not quite fitting into their lanky forms just yet.

They remained traveling companions, both listening to the stories of the pride hidden in the mists.

"What makes you think it is this one?" Odijo asked from behind Arsene. "I feel it looks a lot like the last one you said." He stated with a frown. While once playful, Odijo grew into a more serious adult.

Sahani on the other hand, seemed to portray the opposite. "Oh hush, Odi." She scolded, turning towards Arsene. "Let's keep our paws crossed it is!" She said with a smile, walking up and next to her friend.

"What kind of treasures are suppose to be here again?"

There was a knowing smile now spread upon Jigens maw at Odijo's very truthful remark.

"Yeah. It better be the right place this time," Jigen couldn't help add a few jabs his brothers way. It was in good fun after all.

Arsene didn't seem that phased but his grin did noticeably shrink. That was until Sahani came to his defense allowing the grin to widen again.

"At least some ones a believer. Oh ye of so little faith I am absolutely sure this time," Arsene had said the same thing the last four times as well but there was something about the boyish charm that always made it hard to resist following after him. His confidence beamed from that wide toothy relaxed smile of his and Jigen couldn't help but partially hate his brother for being so convincing.

"The treasure is rumored to be crystals... that can heal." Arsene had paused for dramatic effect. He was a showman after all.

"It's also known that the pride has scrolls of knowledge." Jigen chimed in, "Which could be useful for those seeking the hidden wisdom of the crystals powers."

"Well. Yeah that too. But mostly isn't it exciting ? If this is in fact the rumored cavern that means one thing," He paused again allowing for dramatic effect, "A challenge. Can you imagine how hard its going to be to sneak away with anything ? This is going to be one hell of a challenge." That beaming confident smile was now coupled with a determined glint in his eyes that hadn't quite been there before.

"Gods damn it Arsene... Don't sound so proud of your self. We don't even know if this is actually the place yet."

“Well, it is Sahani you are speaking to.” Odijo pointed out. The girl had practically grown up a dreamer and believing a lot of things. He had to thank their father for that, the educator type filling the heads of his children with different ideas.

“Why do you think this is the place this time though?” The young adult asked, shaking his head. “I mean, it’s not that I don’t want to believe you…but…” Odijo drifted off, giving a shrug as he stood next to Jigen. He turned his attention to said brother. “I mean…was he always like this…?” He whispered to the male.

“Healing crystals? Dad never said anything like that in his teachings. Perhaps this is a place he had yet to venture! Think of it, Odi. We can start our own story to tailgate off of his!” The female said excitedly, although her eyes widened with the mention of scrolls of knowledge.

“I need those scrolls.” She finally stated, nodding affirmatively.

“Just become one of their ranks and swipe it from under them.” Odijo suggested. “What do you know of the pride anyways? Other than this treasure you seek?”

"Yeah how can you tell Arsene?" Jigen echoed the question because it was a good thing to verify before they wasted anymore time here.

"Have you all not noticed the deposits of quartz have been greater in the soil since we've been traveling? I can swipe my paw and..." Arsene did just that with one confident swipe revealing a few ordinary stones. At least they looked ordinary under Arsenes shadow and covered in the dust of the ground. Arsene licked his paw and rubbed the one of the stones giving it a gleam. No, it was no precious gem but a common quartz was still beautiful.

"Voilà! There you have it. Quartz."

"That doesn't prove this is the right place Arsene," Jigen grumbled.

"Oh ye of little faith. Don't fret too much. I'll prove your faith in me is well rewarded." Arsene chuckled. "Don't worry Sahani. I'll get you those scrolls and as many shiny gems your paws can hold ~"

It was time for Jigen to answer a few questions now.

"Our father was part of the traveling pride and told us these stories as cubs. Arsene seems to believe them for some dumb reason. There was never any proof but here we are I guess. On the silver shores with no actual leads." There was noticeably no mention of the twos mother at all.

As Arsene spoke, Sahani found herself swiping the Earth below, mimicking his actions to reveal a slight gleam to the stones. She hummed slightly, dropping the quartz to the ground, a bright smile at the mention of getting the scroll. "Sweet~!"

Well rewarded? Odijo's brows show up as he shook his head. An ear flickered towards Jigen. "Our father," the male motioned towards Sahani, "was a traveler before he settled in the Jini-msemi Swamplands. He is pretty well-versed in the world, and never once mentioned them. So, you can see my...hesitation of the truth behind the stories."

Ignoring her brother, Sahani spoke next. "So what is your plan?" She was having fun making the small quartz appear, the ground below her becoming a tad more sparkly.

"You do have a plan, right?" Odijo quickly countered.

"Ah yes your father was a traveler wasn't he," Arsene nodded, "The pride lands are apparently not exactly an easy thing to stumble upon. I will admit that I have no proof that the travelers even actually found the place of legend but, hey, isn't that half of the fun? Come on. Take a leap of faith with me."

Despite the fact Arsene had admitted he wasn't completely sure about the place even being real he seemed pretty confident in his faith which, at least for him, was enough.

"And besides isn't the thrill of discovery a treasure in it self?" Arsene flashed a charming grin at Sahani.

"No. Its not." Jigen spoke up but there wasn't a sense he was annoyed with his brother. "But what ever. I'll stick with you until you figure this out."

"See? A little faith. That's all I need."

Odijo frowned. His facial features said it all when Arsene said to take a leap of faith. No. The deadpan look he had mastered from growing up with Sahani's own antics. How the two's personalities practically switched was a conundrum to him.

"Right!" Sahani chirped, her tail flicking at Odijo. Such a spoil sport her brother was. She glanced at Jigen. "Yes. It is." She disagreeded.

"Well oh master of the faith. Why don't you lead the way into this special pride. Let's find out if you are," he paused, only briefly, "right." It was obvious in Odijo's tone he didn't think they had stumbled across these lands of legends, regardless of how to the earth gleamed once the dust was removed.

"Right, let's go!" Sahani said enthusiatically.

There was the smuggest grin on Arsenes face as he declared, "I don't actually know how to get in to their territory." Jigen hung his head low and said a curse or two.

"Seriously? You dragged us all this way and you don't even know how to get in?" There was quite a bit of annoyance in his tone.

"Yup." Arsene admitted quite shamelessly, "But I do know such a secretive pride probably has eyes on the border. I wouldn't be surprised if we were already spotted. I'll admit I am not fully sure if this is the case but I would imagine it is. We wait for some one to come see what we're doing here and see if we can't be brought back to their pride heart." There was that confident grin again, "Simple."

Jigen was speechless. There was no point in arguing with him at this time and since they had traveled for quite some time there was no point in storming off. He was tired.

"Fine." Was the only thing that managed to come from Jigen after some time.

Fin? :]

Odijo had to hold back his paw not only wanting to hit his own forehead, but that of Arsene too.

Luckily, it seemed his brother had managed to say the frustrations the darker male had. He sighed, the annoyance also clear on his exhale. Instead of hitting his head, he just rubbed his temple, contemplating the whys of why he ended up following Sahani with the group.

Sahani shook her head, obviously not as frustrated at the other two males. "So, we just wait." She mimicked, nodding thoughtfully. "I think if no one shows up within a few days, then this isn't the spot, and we can try again the next area." The lone female of the group advised.

Odijo groaned. "Simple my a**." He grumbled, only to be swatted by Sahani, likely due to the swear.

"And what, do you say we do while we wait?" The male asked.

"Oh! We can play again! I Spy anyone?" She grinned.
