There was something outright amazing being powered up! The sensation of the wind around her as she leapt from roof to roof, how her hair billowed around her, the way the lights shone their bright colors below and the moon glowed above. Her skirts tickled the skin on her legs and Hy-Brasil was highly aware of the bodice that felt almost too snug around her, but she still held a sense of decency to not rip off that bit of leather to free herself.

She needed to put up a front, as tough as it was. At least her anxieties weren’t plaguing her. That dreadful nagging ‘voice’ that berated her and swatted at her feeble confidence was silenced for the time being and it was so blissful!

Before she knew it she was at the meeting point. She fumbled slightly when she hopped down into the alleyway having misjudged the distance, but Hy-Brasil recovered gracefully, or at least she perceived it as such. Anyone watching may think otherwise as she stumbled about to regain her balance. A cool, rough brick under her hand steaded her as she looked for the person she had set out to meet. The one person she continued to keep her promise to because… well, it didn’t matter right now. She was just overly excited to lay eyes on the dark-haired Knight.

“Scholomance?” Her voice seemed distant to herself as she pushed away from the wall to meander down the alleyway in search of her companion. She was fairly positive she was on time, but maybe she’d lost track of time? That would be nothing new.

No. Surely he was still around.

And then as if she remembered she could do it, she felt around for his signature and confirmed his proximity to her. An odd shiver ran down her spine. Anticipation? Excitement? She didn’t know but she reveled in the feeling. “Sorry if I am a bit late.” I needed some encouragement.

Scholomance's heel grazed impatiently over the gravel. With one leg crossed above the other and his hand laid languidly over his lap, he played the part of relaxed at a distance. But as Hy-Brasil's stumbling presence encroached inevitably, his shoulders tensed. His spine straightened. He troubled with smoothing the grimace out of his face for the coming contact. And he wondered, above all, when he began to dread these meetings.

He could tell at a glance. Even in the humming of her frame, he saw the old beast that bought up a cult of his friends. No plastics hung from her neck or her wrists like technicolor manacles, but its claim was there already. It lingered in the buoyancy of her voice, the brimming steps she took to cross the courtyard to meet him. And it greeted him in overtones of her voice. Rage welled its petty privileges in his gut, and Scholomance sat up all the straighter to try to smother it.

His efforts meant nothing. "You're an hour late, Hy. An hour. I've been sitting out here waiting for my a** to rot off for the better part of all this time and you don't even have the decency to call and let me know you'd be late. That's what your signet ring is for. Your cell phone, if you can't power up. ******** sake, what if someone attacked the morsel of a knight signature that's just been sitting here all this time?" Scholomance threw his hand up and his fingers stretched as if to catch every possibility.

Sighing, the knight clambered to his feet. "We'll just have to make this short. Come on, then."

The anger in his voice would have normally brought the Earth Knight to a skidding halt bumbling excuses and apologies. But, never had she appeared for their usual meet up so engrossed in her own fancies. Itching for a high or coming down from one, sure, but never well enveloped in one. So, even the obvious anger in his voice didn’t phase her much if the fleeting furrowed brows turning to a smile and shrug was to go by. “I just lost track of time, I guess.”

Flicking a small braid of hair over her shoulder she was obviously nonplussed by her companions need for haste. “Funny how you’re more worried about someone finding you and not being worried that maybe there was a reason I was late?” Her words, though scolding in nature, held a sing-song teasing tone. “But, you’re safe and sound. No one came to hunt you down.” A knowing smile graced her lips at the unintended little rhyme she had made. “I did think I was on time though. So…” Another shrug as she moved closer to him.

“But why such a hurry? Have plans for tonight? A hot date of some sort?” Her head tilted to the side as she looked up at her fellow Knight. Blue eyes traced along his brows, to those mystifying hazel eyes, along high cheekbones, to his well pronounced nose, his mouth that knew how to do so many things….

Licking her lips she ‘snapped’ back. “I mean, if you have somewhere to be then I suppose we can make this quick.”

"Of course you lost track of time -- you're high as a kite." Scholomance edged his words sullenly. He looked to her with a studious awareness, bright and brimming and baleful with all the ways he would admonish her for it. But what use was telling her off? She wouldn't hear it now; he never did when he crossed those same chemical boundaries into the limits of space before space travel was a possibility for the sober. "Time doesn't even exist for you." Whole swaths of adolescence liked to disappear in a blink.

And he wondered, for a moment, about all the blinks of adolescence he passed with that same company. He wondered, a second later, why drugs so fancied women's names. Kay, Mary Jane, Addy, Bernice, Tina. They sounded like a handful of best friends from some mid century fantasy land.

Scholomance stood, making a show out of his slow-onset arthritis where he groaned a little and shook out his leg. He hoped it looked like he sat there for several hours, anxiously looking out for her, even when he spent the better part of it writing passive-aggressive posts on Facebook. "The only hot date I have is with the shower after this," he said, his annoyance still evident in the way it creased his eyes. "And no, you're not invited." He had enough trouble with his list of mistresses trying to catch his ear at night, or in the quick alleys between work and the hoagie shop, or hidden in the faces of other men.

He sighed into the humid night air. "I don't know what's going on with you, Gwen, but drugs are going to make it worse. Much worse. Take it from someone who knows. Sure, it might not sound like much right now, but that's because your new friend's caught your ear. But, feel free to blow me off -- I know I would've done exactly the same as you a decade ago."

A high as a kite? Nope. She felt pretty down to Earth, or at least was physically aware that her feet were planted solidly on the ground and her body pulsed with a need she wanted to scratch. Needed to scratch. Normally she’d hit up a club for the physical touch and over all sensual overload that would completely wipe away the dull voices that continued their berating. That wasn’t an option. Not here. Not now with Scholomance frowing at her with his displeasure. In fact, he looked almost put out with how he looked at her and moved. “You’re one to talk.” She remarked with no hint of anger lacing her voice. His show of pains and and stiffness lost to her as she drifted towards him, a hand reaching out to take his.

Hm. No date tonight? How unlike him. His protest though was more a challenge than a deterance.

“Everything is silent now and I can finally relax.” She remarked absently. “I thought if anyone would understand it would be you, but I see I made you angry for making you wait so long.” Her fingers tried to intertwine with his, barely noting the missing digits on his remaining appendage. The physical touch sung through her body though, as she sought more. Gloves and clothing made it frustrating on her end, but he wasn’t ready. So instead she pushed her body against his own ever so gently while slowly directing his hand to the bare skin of her thigh peeking out from under skirts.

“Come on. Are you really starting to feel like such an old man? Berating me for things you did, putting on a show that you’re disinterested when I know damn well you’ve had more partners than I could shake a stick at. Let loose. Wasn’t there a time you would have wanted me to try this?”

She caught his hand and it worried him for all the ways he couldn't react now. He wondered if other amputees felt the same — if losing their one hand to someone else's grasp spelled a special touch of disaster, or if they thought it an act of trust, or something else entirely. But here, with Hy-Brasil, he was sure it spelled disaster. Either a Negaverser would come around with weapon ready and he couldn't react, or worse, Hy-Brasil would shackle him to whatever she had up her sleeve.

Which was, by her body language, engaging in one of his favorite pastimes. Scholomance sighed into the summer air. "You're really not taking this seriously. And I know that sounds absolutely asinine coming from someone like me, but it's true. You know what happened when those two generals got ahold of me. But it looks like you haven't put much stock in that if you're powering up while high on… Oh, what is it? Some kind of upper. Hell if I want to remember anymore." He recalled nights spent uselessly on couches, on projects forever half-finished, on faces he couldn't remember anymore. Was that Gwen's life now? Did she hit it off with Sid at last and buy into that lifestyle? Her body language spoke so much of those old memories that wistfulnesss wrapped itself in his skin.

He didn't like it. He didn't like any of it.

"Stop for a minute." Scholomance tried to jerk his hand from hers, to make space. He needed space for how the heat started to choke him. He felt a burning on his fingertips when he touched her. "Look, I know things have gotten rough between us, but let's be clear with each other. When we meet up on Sundays, I look at it as a business practice. We're two knights going patrolling. Nothing more, nothing less. If you've got other ideas about this, then we need to talk it out before we set foot out there and find ourselves some trouble." Even if I'm already looking at trouble.

"Maybe we can leave my, ah, interpersonal proclivities out of this." Scholomance licked pointlessly at dry lips. Prospects looked grim.

Scholomance's hand slipped easily enough from Hy's. Her grip hadn't been intended to shackle, just to coerce. To help create that itch inside of him that was currently racing through her to the point of mindlessness. She wanted someone. Anyone. Him. She wanted to forget the loneliness.

A roll of her eyes. A hip jutted out as a hand rose to rest on it. "There's two of us here. Two." She raised eyebrows up at him, eyes alight. "The chances of anyone coming to bother us is unlikely and if they do..." She shrugged one shoulder with an almost cocky grin. "We can deal with it."

His seirousness was so... She broke out in laughter and heaved a sigh as she turned her back to him. "A business practice? Is that all I am to you now? Nothing more?" She turned back and with steady, sure steps closed the gap that Scholomance had made for himself. Hands rose to rest against the lapels on his chest, fingers played with buttons and traced the seams of his uniform, eyes following each movement her hands made. "Fine. Let me stay as nothing more than a business practice. Strings are not attached."

"What happened to the Scholomance who liked to have some fun? Explore a little?" Her eyes traced their way up to his as she searched him. She looked for that desire, saw him grappling. "Sunday funday?" A knowing smile. "Besides, would you rather be running around the city all night like we do [i[every week? Or we can take a break for awhile?"

Those hands slid down to rest on his hips before wrapping around to envelop him loosely. It would be easy to remove himself if the other Knight wanted. "Come on. Let's enjoy ourselves for a change. Forget this damned war." Her own hips leaned forward towards him. "Perhaps a night out first. I mean....if wining and dining has now become your thing." Another soft chuckle.

Reaching up she removed a strand of hair that was resting against her cheek and mouth before tiptoeing herself up brush her lips against his own. Involuntarily she sucked in a breath at the touch.

"Someone's got a touch of confidence in her," Scholomance said with a cocked brow. And what would happen if that general showed up again? And her half-dragon lackey? Do you really think we could handle that, or would I end up stew and you a Negaverse-branded onahole?

But Hy-Brasil had other accusations on her tongue — accusations that spread to invitations that spread to demands in their own right. And as fingers — ten, he counted and checked — touched the lapel to his overlong Knight coat, Scholomance lost some of his venomous accusations. She sweetened the deal in a manner he knew she would hate, and left him flushed under the collar. A hand reached up to take one of her wrists, to peel her off, but her pursuits resumed.

Only the wide sweep of city surrounded them. Its gentle anonymity, its benign ignorance to their rooftop interests, left the ambience around them barren of auric energies. No one approached. No one, who could feel their mile-wide signatures overlapped in togetherness, charged with their allies. The night stagnated as if holding its breath. "Now wait a moment —"

But she wouldn't wait. She wouldn't relent. Staring into her too-wide pupils, so subsuming that he no longer saw blue, he sighed. That hand slipped from wrist to elbow with slow capitulation. "Well…" His tongue stuck on a myriad of excuses, each more feeble than the last. From potential ambush to saving others to sacred duty, each sounded less like him than earlier iterations. None left with voice. "Maybe just this once.

"But only this once. And we're not wining and dining, we're cutting to the chase. No strings attached, like you said. And… If we feel something come up, we take a pause to deal with it." He sighed as his gaze found her cleavage.

So much for self-control. Another day, then.

She had to give it to him, Scholomance was certainly putting up a good fight, but his body was responding in ways his mouth wasn't. That was, at least, until he finaly conceded to her wiles. A toothy grin followed by a bite upon his lower lip as she caught his attention from the intent look at her chest.

The bite turned into a full blown, hunger-filled kiss. Air was about the only thing that pulled her away. "Believe me, wining and dining was not on my list of 'things to do' tonight." She was already pawing at the numerous layers of clothing that were frustratingly on him. She wanted skin. Wanted to feel that scandalous, wonderful sensation of another person's body on her own. Her motions though were fumbled and poorly coordinated in her haste and excitement. And, unlike her fellow Knight, she was not at all concerned with keeping 'watch' around them. That required far too much focus. More than she had to give past her one desire.

"Right. We'll stop if needed. And no strings attached. Promise." The words were hurried in her need as finger fumbled with the numerous buttons that put together his uniform. "No strings is my motto." She mumbled as she gained some ground in her pursuit of Scholomance's pale bare skin. Skin, a body, and a soul she once had tasted frequently. One she hadn't realized she had been craving all this time.

"We'll see about the one-time thing, though." She shrugged, a tongue between teeth as she grinned. "I've learned some things I have a feeling you'll appreciate. But, that can be determined later."
