Mithra sat with her legs crossed on top of the playground in the nearby park. She had gone to watch the sun set, again, and now it was all dark and she didn't have anything to do. Sure, she could go out and drain more energy again, but she had already gone twice over what she needed to, and the summer air was starting to get to her. Not the heat part of it, it was the humidity of course. It just made everything feel so heavy. They seriously needed to come up with a way to drain it out of the air and put it in the ocean or something.

Those were just the thoughts going through her head as she tried to think of something fun that she actually wanted to do, before she felt the telltale signature of a basic White Moon senshi in the area. She really wasn't up for a fight tonight, so she hoped that even if they decided to come to her, then they wouldn't want to exchange punches. She would just leave if it came to that.

She sighed. "Why isn't there anything to do here?" She said aloud, not really caring if anyone heard her or not.

Hydor did not usually make his way to the parks, more interested in staying as far from greenery as possible, but there was some kind of event on campus that evening and, honestly, he wanted as little to do with it as possible. The park was likely comparatively quiet, so he henshined up and practically ran away to the park.

It was his misfortune, then, that he felt the oppressive energy that he was starting to recognize as belonging to someone of Chaos. It made his bones ache, especially at the level he was feeling. It was likely whoever was emitting the energy was more powerful than he was. Perhaps they were uninterested in fighting, though. If they were uninterested, Hydor could talk to them. Perhaps gain some more answers to his burning questions.

Especially since something felt different about the oppression of this energy. It was still clearly Chaotic, but it did not give off the same feeling as the energy he tended to feel from the agents he had run into so far. It was possible she was just another type of agent, but he felt that he knew better, and he especially knew better once he saw her. This was not an agent, so it must have been a member of that dark mirror Bernard had mentioned. Interesting.

Now she was speaking to nothing, perhaps because she had sensed him and was trying to beckon him over.

He would behoove her, if only so he could ask her more about her status.

"It is a park. What were you expecting, a party?" Hydor strolled over, brow quirked and arms crossed. "If you want a party, go to Destiny City University. Evidently, they cannot even shut up for the ******** summer."

He pinched his nose, partially to calm himself down and partially to remind himself that he probably should not go around talking about DCU. They may be able to put two and two together from that.

Mithra was a bit startled when the senshi spoke. Sure, she had sensed them coming, but they seemed to answer her when she asked her question, and she couldn't help but send a glare at him. When she did, she was able to take in a quick look at his uniform and couldn't help but raise a brow. It looked so... official, like he could just walk into work like that and start a meeting or something. Once again, she was glad for her own uniform and how it looked.

She replied a bit sarcastically, "Well what I was really hoping for was to talk to such a fun senshi like you." She coudln't stop it from creeping into her voice. Now she was bored and annoyed. Or at least more annoyed.

She shook her head. "I avoid that place at all costs. University isn't for someone like me, and neither is the partying." She always hated the message that university and colleges were the time to party. Getting high or drunk or both never seemed fun to her. You get to lost all inhibitions and then wake up the next morning with a giant headache and no recollection of what you did last night. Not her definition of 'fun'.

She grinned at him. "Is that why you're here? Trying to avoid the party yourself senshi? Though I'm sure you felt my aura. You know we aren't exactly on the same side right? What did you come over here for?" She was a bit curious, but wouldn't be surprised if it was just to ask a few questions. White Moon senshi seemed to do that a lot lately. She supposed it was because Dark Mirror were different compared to corrupted senshi obviously belonging to the Negaverse.

"Oh, really?" His voice was so heavy with sarcasm that it might have buried itself into the grass beneath his feet. "You will be sorely disappointed."

Honestly, he did not care if she was, so long as she did not attack him. Fighting was something he was almost never in the mood for. He would rather have to take another English class than actually try to defend himself. Would he even defend himself? Perhaps he would just let it happen.

It was curious that she stated that both university and partying were not for her. Was she too far into her senshi duties, or too stupid to see that college was required for living at all with the current state of the economy? Hydor tilted his head, but did not comment on that, instead moving on to the next part of her questioning. "I also have no interest in partying. It is a waste of time, and often a waste of money." He was fairly sure that everything involved with this gathering was mostly free for students, but it was not free of social interaction. His dislike of social interaction overrode his desire to not pay for things.

Hydor tapped his foot.

"Anyway, I came over here because I presumed you were not just trying to speak to air, Dark Mirror." He presumed that if she was not a Dark Mirror Senshi, he would be corrected. He would proceed accordingly in that situation. "What brings you out here, then? Do you enjoy creeping around playgrounds?"

So much for civility.

What's with this guy? It's like he wanted to start a verbal fight. A physical one would be so much better. She thought, giving the other another glare. She got up and hopped off the equipment to stand in front of him. "Well if you want a real answer, boredom mostly. But also there tend to be plenty of people to drain here in the summer. Draining people has gotten a bit boring for me for right now, but if I find someone who will work, I'll just send my wraith out. And of course I'll fight anyone who gets in my way." She replied, making sure that he knew she meant business.

"And usually basic senshi such as yourself know not to mess with a Dark Mirror so easily. You're lucky I'm not in the mood for a physical fight tonight." Or at least the White Moon senshi seemed to think that the Dark Mirror were with the Negaverse and would attack as though the Dark Mirror were the 'bad guys'. Honestly, they may have had a loose morals compared to the White Moon, but they weren't killing people like the Negaverse was. Big difference.

She pointed a finger at him. "Did you come here just to try to start a fight office-senshi? Or is it something else?" He had already dodged the question once, so if he didn't answer it this time, she was going to assume that he was just as bored as she was, and was trying to mask the fact that he didn't have any real reason to come to her.

He was fairly sure that "fight anyone who gets in my way," was supposed to be a threat, but it basically flew right over his head and landed somewhere off to the side.

That was nice.

She was definitely threatening him with her further comments, but that was honestly just amusing Hydor. He snorted when she suggested he should somehow know better, not really giving a s**t what she thought he should know and not know. Also, why the ******** was she calling him office-senshi? Did it have something to do with whatever getup his supposedly former homeworld had come up with?

He spared a glance to one of his sleeves before looking back to the Dark Mirror.

"I have no interest in fighting you, Dark Mirror." Hydor swatted at the air, rolling his eyes. "That is a waste of time. You are not stealing starseeds, so I am uncertain that my quarrel is truly with you, anyway." He did not exactly quarrel with the Negaverse either, but perhaps making it clearer that he had no intention of actually fighting her would make her stand down. The oppressive energy coming off her body made it obvious that she was stronger than him. Hydor was not a fool.

Besides, she said something earlier that was unfamiliar to him.

"You say you have wraiths. Are these similar to youma?"

At this point Mithra was really wishing she was an eternal, if only to make this guy feel a bit intimidated. But he really just didn't seem to care. At all. She honestly wondered where they got some of these senshi. She huffed at his response, but decided to ignore the tone of it right now. "Dark Mirror don't steal startseeds, unlike the Negaverse. And the wraith is a creature that we use to drain energy from people. They are quite different from youma. We can summon them at will, but they aren't made from people like youma are. They also don't consume star seeds. They only drain energy and store it until we can deposit it." She was not going to say that they were as strong as fine china, and if you punched it you were more than likely to make it break.

It seemed however that the senshi didn't know much about Dark Mirror. Maybe that's why he wasn't as intimidated? Or cared about the fight between the two factions? "We don't really have a quarrel going with the White Moon, unless you count draining energy. But we need that to stay powered. And for that reason some senshi and knights consider us to be exactly like the Negaverse. I like to think we're a bit better though since we don't go around killing people. And we get to do a bit more of what we want, unlike the White Moon. I believe we have the same goal in mind, we're just going about it in different ways." Honestly if she could get another senshi to realize that the Dark Mirror weren't like the Negaverse, all the better. Though this one didn't seem to care in the first place. "So technically the only 'quarrel' is with those in the White Moon faction who consider us evil just because we drain energy."

It made sense that a Dark Mirror senshi would have more information on the Dark Mirror than Bernard did, but still, she managed to give him a lot of information at once. He noted it down mentally, not interrupting her with any more snark for at least a couple moments.

He was not fond of the idea of draining energy, but energy could be recovered. It did not imply any level of permanent destruction in the way that consuming starseeds did. He supposed that draining energy could be ignored in favor of the bigger problem. In theory, they would have to deal with the problem of draining energy once the problem of starseed eating was resolved, but he was not 'they.' Did his side even have a cohesive unit to deal with any of this?

"Considering you do not make a habit of consuming souls, it seems fairly obvious to me that you and the Negaverse are not one and the same." Hydor shrugged, shifting his weight to one leg in a position that might have been a bit more relaxed. Maybe.

His general disposition seemed to be tense at all times.

He did note that she stated her quarrel was with 'White Moon'--he still found that name goofy at best--that rejected energy draining. Would she not attack him unless he objected to that behavior? "Do you consider the Negaverse to be an enemy, or a friend, in that case?" He tilted his head. "Would you actively attack a member of the Negaverse?"

Mithra was glad that at least someone could tell that the Dark Mirror weren't part of the Negaverse. Too many seemed to think that energy draining = Negaverse, whether it was true or not. And it seemed that the other was toning down on the snark, at least a little. She grinned at him when he asked about attacking the Negaverse on sight. "I would consider the Negaverse as a whole an enemy. Maybe you haven't heard of this, but did you hear about the fake circus or attack on the circus in March?"

She crossed her arms, trying to make sure that she didn't show any weakness recounting the experience. "It was an attack by the Negaverse. Apparently what they do is trick unsuspecting civilians and steal their starseeds. That's what they did at the circus. The General there ate the starseeds he had collected like they were candy." It made her angry, to see so many souls like that just... disappear.

"However... that doesn't mean I hate the whole Negaverse. It would seem that they plan those events and don't care if they target their own agents or not. So if I know an agent personally, I'm less likely to attack. And before the circus event I didn't really care about Negaverse agents one way or another. But now... now I will attack them on site if I don't know who they are." She would attack all of them, but what she had been told from her boyfriend who was in the Negaverse, that some of them had been forcibly corrupted and not all of them were like that.

"The Dark Mirror don't do that. We only drain energy. We have no need for starseeds. I'd say we're a bit more on the neutral side."

While Hydor had not attended the circus, he had definitely heard of the circus by this point. It had been brought up a few times, and he had seen the related news reports when it happened. Naturally, the news reports did not mention anything about a general just gulping down a bunch of souls. That would require exposure to the public of an actual war going on underneath their noses, and there was no way they could have that...

He wondered if there would be any benefit to exposing the general populace of the evil of the Negaverse. Perhaps they could launch the civilian military onto them.

Considering they were yanking civilian souls and popping them like they were some kind of treat, they deserved literally everything that came to them.

"Disgusting," responded Hydor, turning his head away from the moment. He did not care much for other people and their suffering, but something about the idea of the permanence of just eating another person's soul ate at his own. It hurt. It angered him. It made him want to tear through the Negaverse and find their source of power and choke them to death. Slowly.

Hydor took a deep breath. His fists unclenched.

"If that is the case, there is that old adage -- 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend', correct? If you attack them on sight," for the most part, he would ignore the bit where she claimed some were alright -- anyone who was on that side, forcibly or not, was now part of the problem, and they could figure out how to escape it if they truly wished, "then they are also your enemy. I do not make friends, but I do appreciate that there is no reason for me to attack your kind for the moment."

Until the threat was gone, and the Dark Mirror no longer had a common enemy.

He shifted, crossing his arms over his chest. "It seems your power source is different. What makes you a Dark Mirror and not a member of their faction?"

It seemed as though the senshi hadn't heard much about the Negaverse, though it's not as though she could claim that she knew better either. She had been neutral towards them until the circus incident, since she hadn't been in one of their schemes yet. It wasn't until afterwards when talking to her boyfriend that she realized just how many seemingly mundane events had turned out to be Negaverse plots. And they never seemed to take their own agents into consideration, since he and his brother had been targets a few times already.

The senshi had a strong reaction to what she was saying, which meant that there was some emotion in this one. She nodded slowly in agreement. "They are considered to be an enemy at this point. We used to have an alliance with them, but it was severed and we have been on our own since." She wouldn't tell him that she did have somewhat of an inside source into it, not that she didn't agree with her boyfriend being there. But even if he had purified, he would have lost his memory and he could only be a knight. She couldn't stand the idea of forgetting each other and not even being able to talk about their powered problems to each other.

She grinned. "Well, for one thing, we can travel through mirrors. And we go into the Mirrorscape which is a dimension where we can well, do all sorts of things! I myself have built a training room, but others have built many more elaborate things. We can do a lot more there than what the White Moon can do on their home planets it would seem. But we need energy to be able to do all of that. From what I've been told about corrupted senshi, they mostly just have darker/more dangerous magic powers and can take their starseed out for a while. And that's it. To me it sounds kind of like disability more than anything. Sure, I can't see my homeplanet either, but at least I feel as though I can do a lot more being in the Dark Mirror."

The information that Mithra had casually added that they used to be allies was certainly of interest to Hydor. Why would the Dark Mirror ally themselves to the Negaverse? Did it contain more advantages for them to be part of them same team? Were they actually more okay with their actions than Mithra was letting on? It was curious, and it was something Hydor was fairly sure he would need to keep an eye on.

This war sounded like a web, which suited just about everything he had ever learned in history classes.

... Wait --

"You mention this mirrorspace." Hydor's voice sounded at least mildly curious now. It was some of his surprise leaking into his voice. "Was your faction by any chance involved with ... that event, a few months ago, the one that sucked me through a mirror?" He would not add that he was a civilian at the time. It was unnecessary for him to confirm that he was a recent senshi, though that was likely obvious via whatever power signature he projected and the fact that he was asking her what were well-known questions in the first place. He was asking these questions so he could rid himself of that impression.

"The path seemed able to continue making itself, which would follow with the idea that you can make your own worlds, there."

Mithra sighed and put her head in her hand. She hated being reminded of that time. And when they had to go up against that Queen. She had not been able to land as many punches as that ***** deserved. "Yeah... unfortunately while that wasn't our doing, you guys did get thrown into the Mirrorspace. That wasn't something we could control though. Gist of it was some crazy Queen was trying to kill us and it obviously bled into this world and got civilians and others mixed into it." She had heard about it from her boyfriend when she had told him about the Mirrorspace. He had been sucked up too unfortunately.

She lifted her head up, dragging her hand along her face a little, just to try to massage it a bit. "Yes, it's our goal that if the White Moon can't get rid of the Negaverse, or that they manage to complete their goal of getting rid of all life, that we of the Dark Mirror are able to create a separate dimension to allow life to prosper and so that people can live in there. It is unfortunate that it takes energy to make it though." But she did like the excuse of being able to beat jerks up and make them pay for it a bit more. That was always fun.

That explained a lot, actually. For months, Hydor had been trying to figure out what had caused that, exactly, and how he had ended up involved in it, and all it took was becoming one of the strange people in strange outfits with strange powers himself. It had confounded him for months with no answers, and now?

He scoffed under his breath.

That ******** easy.

He was fairly sure that everything that happened in this forsaken city was somehow connected to this underground war. He fully expected to find out eventually that his statistics professor from the prior semester had been a Negaverse agent. It would have been fitting, at the very least. Oral requirement his a**-- "A queen was trying to kill you in Mirrorspace. Sounds... great." It did not. "I am going to presume you resolved the issue, seeing as we are no longer in the mirror."

If they had not, Hydor was uncertain he could really trust them as allies. Considering they seemed to be the root of that problem in the first place...

It was interesting to hear that the Dark Mirror had a goal that specifically involved reacting to either the success of the Negaverse or the failure of again with that name White Moon. "Interesting. So you plan to make a home for life by taking energy from ... that same life." Seemed marginally effective, but at least energy could be recovered. It sounded a bit like a blood drawing. Add blood to a blood bank so perhaps a life could be saved later. "How well would you say making your Earth-replacement is going? Is it livable now, or is it mostly just specialized areas like your gym?"

Mithra could hear the sarcasm in his voice, but knew it wasn't directed at her. "Yeah, we certainly did. Though she didn't get nearly as punched as she should have." She almost muttered the last part, but she was still annoyed about it. That b-word had tried to crystalize them and then try to take over Earth! And some of her fellow senshi had fallen for the act! It was disgusting.

"I would say it's going... okay. Unfortunately, there aren't many of us, which means that we aren't going as nearly as quickly as we should. And even with the few of us that there are, there are even fewer that are active. Some of my fellow senshi have made gardens and farms for example, but it's still not nearly enough. We need way more than what we have if we truly want to succeed. If we had as many as you do on your side, I think we would be much closer to our goal." Though of course what she had done hadn't really contributed anything, except for making a free space outside of Earth that one didn't have to pay money to if they just wanted to exercise for a bit.
