Backdated to end of Negaverse competition 2018.

As soon as Morgan got home, she flopped on the bed and began to admire her award. Putting forth maximum effort had paid out nicely this time. It was a bit nice but wasn't something she would continue with. Maybe once in a while, she might tote the award with her to boast when grouped with some of the Negaverse agents. She had shown that there was more than fashion and parlor tricks up her sleeve.

Turning the medal over in her hand, she examined it and contemplated where on her tattered outfits she could pin it to. It only took her a few attempts to realize the weight of the thing would just tear through the fabric of her outfit like a hot knife through butter. Maybe it would be better just put it aside somewhere in her room or something. Not that there was much space in her small and crappy apartment.

That was one thing that she needed to change one day but couldn't really get behind the idea of working harder to do so. She had a student work job that would come to an end at some point when she would graduate but there was no forward movement with it after college. At least in this weird Negaverse thing, there was some sort of upgrade or positive movement it seemed like. She had stayed and watched the other tournament fights and saw just how being at a higher rank gave more powers or pointy things to the agents. It was at least a bit, validating to see the effort being rewarded. She still had her doubts though with everything and that was something time would help her figure out. It really felt like she had been thrown into everything and even now there was a lot going on she didn't really understand or see a reason to care about yet.

The main thing she was interested in was her own magic, she got to use it a bit in the tournament and it was a surreal feeling in a way. She never had really been one for magic and stuff outside of stories in music but this was something exponentially more real feeling than she could reasonably deny. It would be another thing she would have to think about and look into more. There was definitely something in that fog she could summon but there was no way to really see it just yet. If magic got stronger as you ranked up then she would have to put in the effort to do all that but for now, she had to play the balancing act of going through college and doing the bare minimum for the Negaverse to not get fired or whatever if that was even a thing.

Part of her knew she would have to do more to get by than she had before but she wasn't really sure if she wanted to do that just yet. The motivation had started growing though now that she had a medal and some know-how to back her up a bit more. With that, she put her medal onto her old stuffed animal she kept by her pillow. At least then it could be worn by someone.
