Seren had found a nice, shady corner of the park nearest Destiny City University, and a rather comfy bench the last time she had walked through. Today, she had brought her books with her, and a cushion, and had quietly taken over the bench. The shade was provided by trees, and also two tall buildings that abutted the park, forming a wall of sorts on this side. It gave Seren a weird sense of security... It would be hard for anyone to sneak up on her, after all, like this. Once she was settled in, she sighed softly, grateful for the shade on this nearly perfect day... Warm and sunny, but not too warm. In the shade, she didn't have to worry about her skin getting damaged, and the shade kept her from starting to feel hot after awhile. She dug into her bag, and pulled out the physics book she needed to study first, and settled in, notepad set on her right knee. She got lost in her studies, lost all track of time, really. She had no idea how long she was at it, or how long she had been there. She did not even notice the shadows growing longer, as the sun began to wester, she just kept plowing through her studies. By the time the sun hit the edge of the horizon, she had pulled out her final book she had brought with her to study, and she cracked it open, stretching her shoulders with a soft sigh.

Crocoite had a quota to fill. Of course, he always had a quota to fill, and he was pretty sure Painite was just making up more and more demands as she went along. If these orders were actually being handed down to her from the other members of the negaverse or not, he had no real idea. But he had to trust in his General. At least for now, until he was strong enough to do things on his own. Anyway, gathering energy was becoming more fun. Starseeds even more so. He was learning a lot about people in this town, about fear, and how to strike at the places that hurt the most when the situation presented itself. He was very much like the crocodile that adorned his weapon, his cane, as he could lay in wait for as long as necessary to get the chance at a perfect attack. Not that it was necessary tonight. A young woman was sitting out alone, working on some oh-so-important school project that would no doubt help her determine her entire life's worth by the time the grades were handed out. At least, he had to assume it was something so important, for her to be in such a vulnerable place. All alone. At night. The Lieutenant walked toward her without any hurry or concern about hiding himself. "Good evening."

Seren looked up, startled, her blue eyes blinking as they processed the change in lighting, the heavy shadows, and the fact that there was a man nearby that she did not know. She stared at him, eyes wide for a long moment, before her expression became a polite mask, and she said "Good evening, sir." In an equally polite tone. She marked her place in her book, and put it into her bag, along with her notepad and pen. "I did not realize how late it was. Thank you for drawing my attention to this fact. I don't wish to strain my eyes." She hoped her polite words would be enough to convince the man to continue on his was, as she carefully got up, and slid her cushion into her bag. Part of her was remembering something someone had told her recently, someone she had met in a park like this one, but closer to home... About being careful about people who roamed around at night, with a lot of black or dark colors to their clothing. There was something about this man that was very much triggering that memory. His clothes were certainly dark... Elegant, but dark. And the cane somehow did not make her feel any more comfortable, once she noticed it. Why the hell did he have a cane with a crocodile head? He didn't seem to be limping, so it was either pretension or... Well, she remembered a certain dark wizard in some books she quite loved. But wizards weren't real, and until she had a reason to believe he was actually going to attack, there wasn't much she could do, and not be an a**.

Crocoite had a very calm air about him, his eyes impassive, but very difficult to read in the gloom of the settling evening. He had his cane in front of him, both hands resting on its head as he leisurely put his weight on it. He did not need the thing to stand or walk, of course: it was actually his weapon.
He just liked to have it with him most of the time, as it complimented his outfit and the intimidating air he was going for rather nicely. At least, he thought so, and really that was the most important thing.
Painite carried her spear around with her, when she wanted to look tough, after all. And it was not even something that blended well with her outfit, and looked very much like the dangerous weapon it was. His cane was a bit more... subtle. He liked that very much.
"There's more to worry about than a little eye strain, I'm afraid. Unless you can give me a good reason not to, I'm afraid I'm going to have to end your life tonight."
He said it so coolly, it was as if it could somehow seem reasonable. Like the logic was something she could, and should, follow to see he was, in fact, right. Her starseed was calling to him, though he liked to play with his prey a bit before he hunted.

Seren did not like how calmly he was watching her. She did not like the feeling of anything about this situation, and this man. She was, internally, utterly and completely terrified, before he spoke again. When he spoke again, however, her face went blank and pale as ********. Oh s**t, she'd thought having the two buildings at her back would be protection. No one could sneak up on her, sure... But ********, she couldn't... lunge over the bench and flee in that direction. And tonight would be the night some lunatic murderer in an elegant outfit found her. She wasn't totally trapped, but he was close enough that it was terrifying her even more. It was amazing she didn't faint, like those goats on the internet. "Wh... No! You don't have to, really you don't... I'm sure there are better things for you to do tonight." She had no idea what she was saying, she was honestly babbling at this point. All she knew was that she needed to get the hell out of here, and fast. She grabbed her bag, zipping it as she did, and moved to run down the path, in the direction he hadn't come from. She wasn't screaming because, currently, she was literally too scared to scream.

Crocoite watched with a smile as she ran. It was always fun when they ran. Like any real hunter, he did like a good chase when it came to a successful mission. It wasn't like she could run anywhere that would really help her, after all.
He highly doubted she had any secret senshi or knight friends waiting just out of sight for her to come to if she had trouble. Plus, just in case that were a thing, he felt no auras in the area at the moment.
No, she was alone, with the crocodile. Except this one was much faster on foot than the animals he got his name from.
He ran, though it was very undignified and not his favorite thing to do. He just wanted to get in front of her again, and had not yet learned how to teleport like his General was so good at. She just appeared in front of the prey she was menacing, which he thought was a very effective method. He had to make due with just running by her and stopping in front of her instead.
"Tsk," he said, blocking her path. "Such a shame. You really should have at least tried to offer me a deal. It is your life in question here, after all."
He put his hand on her shoulder, not reaching for the starseed in her chest just yet but rather opting to pull some energy from her instead. Why rush?

Seren had thought she had a good pace going, the one that usually got her away from situations she found scary. She was wrong, she was horrified to find. Utterly wrong and oh gods he was terrifying. Her blue eyes widened to an almost impossible extent, and her pupils dilated to the point where the blue was just the thinnest ring possible around the black, when he was in front of her. Her eyes darted around, trying to find help, another escape route, something to help her. "Killers don't bargain..." Was the only, and unfortunately inane, thing that she could think to say in response. Was she doomed? Was she going to die tonight? When his hand touched her, though, there was only one thing she could do. She finally gave in to the internal demand to scream. It was loud, and high, a note almost designed to pierce the eardrums, and it filled the space around them. A pity she couldn't see anyone near, because this scream should have alerted help. And then she started to feel suddenly tired, more so then she should, especially given the fear-adrenaline pumping through her blood veins.

Crocoite imagined she did not know enough about this particular killer to really make that assessment about him. He loved to bargain, though things never worked out the way someone wanted them to. Generally, there was little one could offer that was more tempting to him than a starseed.
Still, it was always fun to see what people tried.
He let her scream, draining her energy at his leisure. He saw her getting sleepy and let her drop, not doing much to support her as he took more energy. It was a good idea to get energy and a starseed out of the deal, right? Why waste his time later, when he could accomplish a lot right now.
A sudden burst of a powerful White Moon aura drew his attention, though, and he swore under his breath. So the scream had done its job, and someone he could not beat, an Eternal or a full stage Knight of some kind, was near enough to hear it. Now they were on their way over.
"I suppose we shall have to meet again, my friend," he said to her quietly, a growl in his voice. "But I'll remember you owe me a starseed: that is a debt I will not forgive. Sleep well."
At least he'd managed to get a nice ball of energy from her. Pulling his hand back, he took off away from her, running as fast as he could. A high rank White Moon would be faster, but they would no doubt stop to see if the civilian was alright. By then, he'd be long gone.

Seren tried to struggle, tried to pull away... All he was doing was resting his hand on her shoulder, so how did was it she had no energy, no ability to run, to escape? She was so confused, and so tired... Soon she was asleep, though she was terrified in her sleep, writhing with nightmares of fear and pain and terror. She did not know how long she slept, or if anyone checked on her... Though his last words to her penetrated some, and bounced around her dreams. All she knew was when she woke, it was VERY dark, and she was alone. Not dead, thank all the gods, but still tired, and terrified. She struggled to her feet, and checked her things. Nothing was taken at least, but she had the horrible feeling of unfinished business with that terrifying man. She was NOT coming back to this park alone, and definitely not staying past it being late afternoon, alone or not, ever again. She managed to get herself to her bus, and on, and eventually home. She barely managed to eat something she had in the refrigerator, and with even less skill then that, she took a shower... she'd been sleeping on the ground in the park, she did not want to go to bed like that. Finally, hair tied into a long braid for sleep, she passed out in her bed, to sleep, a night filled with more nightmares and fear... It would be days, at best, before the nightmares faded, and she could sleep in peace.
