School: N/A occupation Lifeguard/Swim Coach

Hobbies:
Swimming - Can often be seen by the pool when he's not on duty. He's pretty obsessed with the water and gets depressed when he can't get into it for longer than a week. He also is a teacher for swim lessons and is employed at the local water center to teach classes to younger children and those who are just learning how to swim.

Guitar - A casual guitar player, though he often brings it with him just to play. One can often see him hauling it around the lake and sometimes he'll play relaxing music just for fun, though he'll stop if anyone asks, but it hasn't happened yet! He doesn't have a particular genre that he plays, and just likes to strum it or write some songs that just sound good to him and can be relaxing. He may join a band if he was asked, but it would definitely depend on what they were wanting to play. He won't sing though, don't even ask.

Part-time model - likes to do this for fun and does best with summer shots, exclusively for local fashion designers/boutiques/tailors (you may have seen him in some cosplay outfits online!). He doesn't do this as a regular job at all, but if someone sees him on the street or one of his old modeling gigs calls him for it, then he'll be happy to do it. He does like the free clothing he gets with some of the shoots. He tends to wear sunglasses to keep people from recognizing him though, but will agree to sign an autograph if someone is polite about it.

Virtues:
Calm - Whether someone is drowning, or he's just watching a friend be upset, Duncan keeps his cool through all of it and even becomes the voice of reason to some of his friends when they are thinking of doing something really dangerous or dumb. He has to keep cool though for his job as a life-guard, because he can't hesitate or start to panic if he sees someone drowning. When it comes to being a swim coach, he doesn't get emotional

Conscientious - Wants to do his job correctly, whether it's being a swim coach or a life guard. He knows that people depend on him in both, saving lives as a life guard and teaching others how to swim so they'll be less likely to drown as a swim coach. Takes his duty very seriously and doesn't like it when some of his fellow life-guards seem to be goofing around while working.

Flaws:
Blunt - He has to be when it comes to his job as a life guard. He can't go and be soft on people who were just drowning. If someone asked him if something could kill them he would say "Yes, before you even realized it." If he just saved a little kid from drowning he would point out how that child had almost perished and how dumb it was to do what they did. He's still a good life guard, but is very blunt to those he thinks needs it. This includes his friends and sister. If someone asks him if riding a motorcycle without a helmet was a stupid idea, he would say "Yep" with no hesitation whatsoever. He doesn't do it in an angry voice, but does do it in a more neutral tone.

Silence is golden - He doesn't talk much unless he has to, which can rub some people the wrong way. While he does his best to communicate at work, he's less likely to speak to strangers and others when he just doesn't want to. For those that don't know him, this can come off as rude, uncaring, moody or that he's just not listening. It's not true, but some people do take offense to his "silent treatment". His sister and others know that he just doesn't like talking unless he feels the need to or he's specifically addressed.


PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

Eyes: Yellow, downturned/almond

Hair: bright red hair, slightly styled. Short.

Face: oval

Clothes: swimtrunks (one, two) lifeguard outfit (visor and sunglasses), other beachy/oceany clothing (such as this1, this2, this3, these, with sandals of some sort)
skin color - tan. He's always outside in the sun. Very nice tan.
Some refs: 1, 2, 3 (couldn't decide on a hairstyle, can edit any of those a bit so they don't look quite so close to someone else).

Opponents that are within range (up to 8 feet) take a hit to their defense - any attack against them during this time now seems twice as strong. Lasts 35 seconds

Knight Weapon: A more ornate harp
When the harp is played, allies within range (up to 15 feet) gain a slight boost to defense - any attack against them during this time now deals half damage. Opponents that are within range (up to15 feet) take a hit to their defense - any attack against them during this time now seems twice as strong. Lasts 50 seconds.

Hey Bros!!!

I'm here to review Donut (I love that nickname, btw) and have just a few things that need addressing to get you your stamp for him.

  • His guitar hobby is fine, but as Destiny City is landlocked, you may want to consider swapping out the beach comment for a lake or another body of water. It would take him a while to get to a beach to play his music and I presume he sticks close to home to do his strumming?

  • As far as his part-time modeling goes, being low key is perfectly fine as far as popularity goes (you don't want to be too famous and get the paparazzi on you constantly) - does he model for magazines? Online ads? It sounds like it might be a local gig since people have the chance of recognizing him, could you just clarify what he models for, so I can get a better idea?

  • For his powered side, I see in the title that you picked Sumner but in your Knight post it looks like you're still indecisive. Could I get a little clarification on which name you're going with?

  • While his towel weapon is amusing with his challenge, it's a bit of a stretch when it comes to the weapon transition and keeping in line with the Neptune theme. In the Knight Information thread, Neptune's themes are listed as:

    "Power Theme: Music, grace, generosity
    Appearance: Mythical sea and music. Think Atlantis, with a hint of ballroom dancer. "

    When it comes to elegant themes for weapons, maybe something like a small, ornate net, since the strings on the net can progress into harp strings? Or a decorated ukulele or small musical instrument (which would give homage to his guitar playing as well as transition well into a harp as they both possess strings?).

  • In his Squire magic, do you mean the enemies lose a bit of defense? I think you may be missing a word or two in the sentence.

  • For both Squire and Knight magic, I would add something along the lines of "the extent of the injuries are determined at player's discretion" to allow opposing (or allied) players freedom to determine just how well or badly the wounds are affected.

All right, I believe I've made all of the changes you suggested. Changed it from beach to lake, and modeling to local gigs only.

Towel was changed to mini guitar (thank you for that suggestion! I think it works a lot better!), added in a bit more detail for what happens to enemies with the squire magic.

I also added the at the player's discretion thing, but that may be changed in the future depending on how the rps go with them. I added that something has to happen though, because sometimes people will act as though it doesn't effect their character at all. But that will be tweaked accordingly (if I need to).

I understand your concerns. What about something like:

When the harp is played, allies within range (up to 8 feet) gain a slight boost to defense - any attack against them during this time now deals half damage. Opponents that are within range (up to 8 feet) take a hit to their defense - any attack against them during this time now seems twice as strong.



This also leaves the opening for nothing to happen, should no damage occur to any person within the allotted distance. As well, it's vague enough that player's discretion can be used if they want to focus on bleeding vs pain or however the damage is doled out.

I do like that idea! However I'm having a hard time working it for the knight magic to be a bit better. Unless however you would suggest just upping the time and and distance for that which would be okay.

I don't see why that would be a problem. Maybe 50 seconds and up to 15 feet?

A small note, just to make sure we are on the same page, it would be fine for his magic to make opponents feel like they are being hit twice as hard, but they shouldn't actually do twice as much damage! (It can still hurt twice as much, but this just makes sure that no one is getting hit with twice as much super strength and walking out with totally shattered bones!). It seems like your magic is designed to give the sensation of double damage for the enemies though, so I think it still looks fine!
