Nova was not the same small, shy girl who began her days at Academy Gardens. After being adopted by Jaime, and having a younger sibling in Zoren, it helped Nova to realize she needed to step out of her comfort zone. Being scared, and shy all the time wouldn't get her anywhere in life. While still young, Nova wanted to be able to be an astronomer or astronaut one day. At the very least, she wanted to study the stars and galaxies. Even if she couldn't do that exclusively, even things like geology had their fascination. Yet her interests in the planets and all things to do with the world beyond her reach it was a wonder she pushed herself to try and move through her classes.
Along the way she even managed to make a few friends, some better than others. Nova felt like she owed her adoptive father her very best effort. She wasn't sad anymore, and it showed in the way she hurried through her lessons and sought to come out with high marks in her subjects.
Laying in her bed late one night, she rolled over onto her back as she sighed dramatically. Above her, glow in the dark stars littered her ceiling. She'd made sure to put them all over, the soft glow from the various colors had always amused her. Her smile slowly relaxed..into the hint of a frown. What if she didn't manage to become what she dreamed of? Would that make her a let down in Jamie's eyes? Nova turned onto her side as she curled up some, pulling her favorite stuffed animal close. She knew not to worry about those things..it would be alright. She would find a way to make it work.
Come the morning, the young hybrid sat up with a tired yawn. Rubbing at one of her eyes sleepily, she reached a clawed hand up, awkwardly patting at her hair, adjusting the hair clip she'd forgotten to take out before falling asleep the night before. Nova sat on the edge of her bed as she brushed out her hair, quietly contemplating her own thoughts. The worst she did, was give up. That wasn't something she was willing to do. Nova decided as she sat there, lazily brushing her hair to get ready for her classes that she would just have to keep pushing ahead.
With a tired expression, she slid out of bed, quietly shuffling to go for the exit to her room. Such heavy thoughts of the future could not be reasonably mulled over without some well-deserved cereal. The idea made her tummy rumble. Mmm..after some cereal a shower was in order, before getting her bag ready with last nights homework. For what it was worth, Nova was happy with how things were. Watching her kid brother flop over across the table made her laugh as she ruffled his bright pink hair fondly. Why has she been down to begin with? Things weren't the same afterall. No, life was much different...and happier. She knew this to be a fact, as she gazed to Jamie, who was already making both children pancake.
Nova felt like the luckiest kid in the world. She would definitely keep doing her best. Anything less, and she wouldn't be able to prove to her beloved family just how much their support meant to her.
