His coat was too pale, his eyes, though a startling blue, did not amuse her and quite frankly his attitude did nothing but annoy the hell out of her. Yet she had continued to lead him around and show him the world she had lived in for most of her formative years. While she had not been born here, of course, she had joined as a young adolescent, she considered the pride and its people her home and family. She had never really been much of a social butterfly though and while this was probably the most contact she had, had with a male, ever, that wasn’t her ‘uncle’ she felt it was time to leave him to his own devices before he got any ideas.

She had caught glimpses of the look in his blue eyes, glimpses that she read easily as a want for something, a need for something she most certainly was not willing to give to the large pale male. He was way below her station. Inselelo were just, they were just too neither here nor there in her eyes. They changed like leaves on trees. They were moist certainly not a reliable source to her, even if they had won against the previous challengers. That to her proved how fickle they were, tossed out back in to the world when their job was done. This was not what she wanted for any progeny she brought in to the world. No they would need to be sired by someone much stronger. She already had her eye on the ideal candidate she just had to speak to him really. She guessed he wouldn’t take much convincing. Still perhaps having this male around would be handy she could ask him about how he wanted to be approached. “Pahana” She spoke, stopping mid step to turn on the almost albino coloured male.

The white, very pale maned male stopped as she did. He had been following her quietly, watching that sweet tail bob up and down. He knew very little about Rabia except that she thought very little of him and his side ways glances, raised brows and dashing smile really did nothing for her. He consigned himself to this fact and happily just followed her around. At least until she decided she had, had enough of him, which he was fairly sure would be soon. Her answers to any questions he might pose were becoming ever more short. It seemed she had a question for him though so he put on his most interested look. Or at least the look that he considered to be his most interested look. He often wondered if other saw what he did when he looked in a glassy waterhole and admired himself.

That was a thought for another time though, some time when he was alone and happily admiring himself. For the moment the lioness had addressed him and he had sussed out in their short time together that if he didn’t answer promptly she would get very angry at him. “Yes malady.” He beamed, settling himself in to a sit, if they were going to talk he could make himself comfortable though the sun on his back was becoming decidedly uncomfortable and he hadn’t been too far off suggesting they take a break, get some water, chill in the shade. He really did have to introduce himself to more of the pride after all they needed to see his face, feel his presence, request his services.

The look he gave her filled her with anger for a moment. He looked interested, he looked keen to answer any question she may pose to him but to her he just looked smug. She actually wanted to smack the look off his damn face but instead she took a deep breath and posed her question carefully. She didn’t want him to get the wrong idea after all. He was most certainly not the lion she wanted to ask to father her cubs. No, definitely not.

“If a lioness were to ask you, for your help with cubs, how would you want to be asked?” She raised a brow at the pale male, a part of her instantly regretted asking such a question of the pale male, she guessed he would answer with that roguish grin that he definitely considered was a charming look to give her but, she had already asked so there was no turning back now. “Well?” She huffed, feeling impatient that he hadn’t answered her question immediately.

Pahana certainly did turn his face from interested to roguish grin. He knew of course that she didn’t mean him. He did wonder who she did mean but that was none of his business and if he asked he had no doubt that the female would clout him for very daring to deem himself worthy of such a query.

After a moment, and settling his face in to a much more serious pose he answered honestly. “Honestly, any lady that asked me outright, though I’m not opposed to encouraging a girl if she is shy.” Again he paused. “I’m sure any guy that you wanted affections from would be happy to say yes to you though. You won’t have nay problems.” Again he measured his most roguish of grins at her, maybe she would ask him though he knew that his chances were very slim.

Just ask him straight out. The lioness sighed, it was actually pretty good advice despite who it was coming from. She lashed her tail and let a glare flash at the male. She really wanted to wipe that stupid grin off his face. “I’ll admit, asking straight out is probably the way I would do it.” She gave a long sigh and flicked her forelock form her eyes. “Go back to the watering hole, I have things to do. Maybe I’ll come and speak to you again. Later.” She sniffed and trotted away from him without another word.

Pahana chuckled and watched as the lioness marched away from him swiftly and decisively. Well he knew she would just walk away from him eventually. With a grin he turned tail and trotted off back towards the watering hole, for some shade, a drink and maybe some more civil conversation.
