Gemini just couldn't help himself. He would tell himself over and over again that no, he won't steal, he will leave the pretty and shiny trinkets behind. No, he wouldn't perk up over the mention of valuable or treasure. No, he wouldn't leave with his hands or clothes stuffed with valuables. And certainly, no he wouldn't break into a house.

But he had broken into a house. While someone was still there. Maybe it was due to withdraws of not stealing for so long? Three days was a mighty long time to go without stealing, after all. And so, here he was, standing in the dark. Not even in his theft outfit. Having a battle of wits with himself.

He had finally convinced himself to move back towards the door that he picked. He was almost there when he realized.... he had a cellphone and laptop in his arms. He swallowed hard, frozen. He needed to put them back. Especially since these were traceable. But he just. couldn't. move. And so, he continued to stand there in his conundrum, fighting to keep back his desire to steal something.

Where the ******** did his phone go off to this time?

Prosper fumbled around on his bed, hands scattering for some sort of feel. He could have sworn he had left it on the kitchen table but when he had looked..it disappeared. It wasn't a rare occurrence. He was normal. Everyone lost their phone every now and again. He wasn't a slob there were sometimes where he was just...forgetful.

But usually he could at least trace his steps. When he had a brother who would constantly lose things, it came as a god send. This time it didn't work. It wasn't there. Or anywhere. The last resort was his bed and---

Wait. He had a phone. His brother had a phone. He had found Promises phone.

He could call his phone.

Brilliant. Why didn't he think of that in the first place?

Prosper shook his head at his own stupidity as his thumb glided over Promises phone to enter the pass code before finding his number at the top of the recent call list. His brother really should have more friends. The last time he had contacted Promise about anything over the phone was in....two weeks? That boy played too many games.

He sighed, now disappointed over his own brother's lack of social life as he slowly made his way towards the sound of his phone. At least it wasn't far.

And found a person?

Prosper stared. Blinked. And dropped his brother's phone, briskly walking over towards the unfamiliar individual. "Excuse you, this isn't your home." he grabbed their arm quickly. A burglar? In his home? "What are you doing with belongings that aren't yours? Give them back." he outstretched one of his hands, expectantly, fingers beckoning him to hand him what was rightfully his.

The phone ringing stopped his heart. Clutching at it, he stared wildly. Who in the world was calling?! At this time at night. He raised his hand to throw it so he could take off and run. He didn't know why he didn't just drop it. However, the voice behind him stopped the motion and he froze, unsure what to do.

Tears filled his eyes. Oh, he knew he should have just left it alone. Should have left the house. Should have not even gone in the house. Should have fought the urge more. Slowly, he turned around and, eyes somewhat shifted downwards, he handed over the phone. Gemini forgot he was still holding the laptop too, so focused on the panic of being caught.

He didn't usually get caught. It was just... his bad habits and the withdraws made him clumsy. He was sure of it. Chin to chest, he stared resignedly at the ground. "I'm sorry," he mumbled, feet shifting uncertainly.

Porcelain Pinch
God, why didn't he flip the switch on the lights? Why did he make this so complicated?

Prosper let out an aggravated sigh undertoned with a growl. He could report the little shrimp for taking his phone at the least. His eyes narrowed at the other male as he scrutinized him. At least he could tell that he was holding his brother's laptop. "You know, I'm tempted to just let you take my brother's laptop." he mused. Promise didn't live up to his name when it came to saying he was going to clean. Maybe having the thing he valued most stolen would make him learn to at least keep track of his s**t.

Prosper let out an aggravated groan. The idea was tempting but he couldn't handle the look of rejection on his face. Best not. "I---look. You don't even want to know what's on it, alright?! He looks at some weird....things." A shudder ran down his spine. There had been more than one instance when Promise had looked over his brother's shoulder curiously to find an image that was...well....scarring. "Give it. If you were sorry you wouldn't have broken in. " He gave the male a hard stare, unapologetic. "Why are you even stealing? Didn't your parents teach you better?" He didn't understand why people would break the law, harm others. This was no different. "What in the gods' name made you think that stealing was a good idea?"

Gemini's tendrils flickered uneasily, head remaining tucked in shame. How was he going to get out of this now? He really had messed up. He was two seconds away from crying and he hated it. Hated how easily he cried. He bit back a sniffle. "I... It wasn't a good idea," he admitted in a near croak.

Slowly, he held out the laptop far from his chest. But even still, his hands clenched at it. He didn't want to let it go. For krikes sake, he needed to get over it! "I don't want to steal it," he hesitantly pointed out.

He kept quiet over the question about his parents. He was raised in the academy and had dropped out. And was taken into a 'family' of thieves. But, he wasn't going to tell this stranger this.

"I... I can just leave...? I won't take anything," he tried, watery eyes glancing up. It was so dark, it was making him nervous. The other seemed tall, however. Very tall. It made him all the more nervous.
w.c.: 175

Porcelain Pinch
Was that nervousness? Prosper quizzically scrunched a brow, his lips pursing as he leaned down. Still no good. He couldn't see his face. Why would a burglar be..nervous? Scarred that they're caught? Still it was odd. Fiction really needed to do it's research. "Of course it wasn't a good idea, weirdo. " Habitually, his hand went to Gemini's head, fingers ruffling the soft strands. It lingered for a moment longer before snagging the laptop from the hybrid. "Good boy."

A scoff fell from his lips. "That's some bologna. If you didn't want to steal it, then you wouldn't have snagged it." he shook his head. "God, you're a terrible liar. The guy was probably a kid. A senior at the academy who did this on a dare. He couldn't possibly be older.

Leave? Prosper rolled his eyes. "Kid, not on my watch." Speaking of which, where was his watch? Pink eyes narrowed into slits. "Give me my watch back, you brat. And whatever else you have." He sniffed, making sure to have a hand on the brat as he leaned over to turn on the lights. There. Much better. His grip tightened on the blonde. "After I might let you leave."

His eyes landed on the small pile of dishes next to the sink. It had been spaghetti night. Which meant tomato and grease stains were on every single plate. Maybe he'd have the kid learn a lesson afterwards by having him wash his dishes...

The touch on his hair was shocking. Very shocking. The geist wasn't used to any sort of physical contact. And because of this, his head moved up, eyes wide as he tried to see just who was touching his hair and calling him a good boy. All too soon, however, the hand pulled back.

"I'm not lying," he said in a sulk, hand coming up to wipe at the tears brimming back up. He really couldn't help stealing! Sometimes, he'd go in a store to buy something, would buy those things, and walk out with something else in his pocket. Something unpaid for.

He was mildly confused at the mention of a watch. Did he steal a watch? However, his fingers moved to the small pocket on his robes and... well, there was a watch in there. Mutely, he took it out, holding it to the other with trembling fingers. The light came on soon, blinding him, and after a few seconds of blinking owlishly, teary eyes stared up at a rather tall grimm. With weird eyes. Eyes he would have seen in the geist community.

"Can I leave?" he asked in a slight quiver. He just wanted to go home and go to bed. Maybe never leave again. Perhaps then, he'll be able to stop stealing.
w.c.: 217

"You're not lying?!" Prosper scoffed and shook his head, his free hand going to his hip. "You don't accidentally break into someone's house without some purpose." The bybrid let out an aggrivated sigh. "C'mon, I'm not that much of an idiot."

He still had yet to give him his watch back. The man was stubborn for an idiot, he'd give him that. How annoying. "He studied his face, taking note of the distinctive features. The blonde and blue hair, the beauty mark, the bright blue teary eyes---the what?! His gaze narrowed, hand shooting out to grab Gemini's chin. "Are you seriously crying?" ******** ridiculous. A tsk fell from his lips. What burglar starts to cry when they're caught? "Stop that nonsense and give me back my damned watch."

What else did he steal? Prosper's eyes narrowed. "No, you can't. You haven't given me everything you stole." Was he going to have to do a body check? God, he hoped not. He pulled the brat's arm and gestured towards the bar stools at the kitchen table. "Go sit down." he sighed. It was too late for this s**t. But he couldn't have the kid breaking down on him and taking his s**t. "We aren't done talking.

Gemini hesitated, looking at the bar stools. He wanted to leave. He was going to be in so much trouble. This weird grimm was probably going to call the cops.

But what choice did he have? With a sniffle, he moved over to the bar stool, trying three times to get up on top until finally, he managed without slipping off. "I'm not crying," he mumbled, using his sleeve to wipe at his wet eyes. This really was the worse.

"I didn't steal anything else, can't I go home?" he begged, eyes coming up to stare desperately at the Grimm.

Prosper raised a brow when Gemini didn't move. What was he going to do? Run? His eyes narrowed . He was going to chase him down if he even tried. The little ******** punk. He didn't need to call the cops in order to take care of business. The boy would have been gone by the time they got here. No, he could handle a small kid by himself.

God, he finally moved. The grimm eyed him and went towards the closest dish towel. It should be clean. Only hands had touched it. That was good enough. He threw it over towards the brat. "Yeah, and you also didn't just try to steal my watch, laptop, and phone. What do you take me for, a fool?" he shook his head. "Wipe up those tears."

He didn't steal anything else? Prosper doubted it. He rolled his eyes and leaned on the countertop. "I'm not an idiot, empty out all your pockets. I'll let you go home eventually. " Just not right now. And he wasn't about to give a time when he could go home. There was no sense in lying.
w.c.: 190

The dish towel hit his face and his hands immediately went up, grabbing it as it fell. He looked at it in confusion before looking up. Clean up... his tears? Did they bother the grimm? Or did the grimm care? Either way, with how tired he was and the whole situation, tears welled up even more and he buried his face in the dish towel, sniffling into it for a moment.

"I don't think I stole anything else," he tried to tell him desperately, though voice muffled. He reached to his pockets... and froze. No, he did steal more.

Oh, the grimm will think of him as such a liar! Was this considered lying, if he couldn't remember taking things? Taking a deep breath and keeping his face buried in the dish rag, he began fishing out the items and blindingly placing them on the bar behind him. A wallet... a ring... a little table decoration... a few marbles from a jar... loose change... even some sunglasses.

"I'm sorry," he whimpered into the dish towel, shoulders trembling with the effort to keep from sobbing. Oh, how miserable! He must seem like an insane thief! Well, he was a thief. Had been a thief. No more though, he really was trying to get better. Gods he was tired and wrung out, but still high strung with tears.
w.c.: 226

Porcelain Pinch
This was such a weird situation. What thief cried? Prosper slid into a chair and watched Gemini with a dead stare. "There's no need to cry, I'm not going to take you to the cops. I'll swear on the gods if I have to." Although he honestly wasn't that much of a religious person. The gods probably existed in some form. Maybe. There was no way to tell unless there was physical proof. The kid didn't need to know that though.

"Then maybe you should think," he propped his chin up on his hands, elbows resting on the table. How could the guy not know if he stole something or not? Wouldn't the weight in his pockets be obvious? At least...he was trying to give him his s**t. Prosper rose a brow. Even if he did still try to hide his face. "Don't suffocate yourself." He didn't want the burglar to faint on him. The situation was already complicated enough.

Was that---from his brother's marble collection?! Prosper stared incredulously at the shiny balls. The other items were important, yeah. Especially his sunglasses. The light from outside was too damned bright for his pastel eyes to handle. But---Marbles?! "Why'd you steal a few marbles?!" They were practically worthless in his mind. Although, he figured that his brother would disagree. Still---Promise had to have a ton. "Do you want to keep these?" He couldn't believe what he was saying. Why reward a thief for taking from him and admitting it? Promise frowned in thought, taking the clear marble and looking through it and towards the man. Did he really want to go through the hassle of giving them back to his brother? And explaining everything?
Nah, he could keep the damned marbles. The hybrid was too tired to explain this whole ordeal already. He did take the rest back however; stuffing them in his own pants pocket---with difficulty. "How did you even fit all of this in your pocket?" It would barely fit in his and his pockets were large!

"Oh hush you're only sorry because you got caught. " he rolled the clear marble towards Gemini with a roll of his eyes. And caught sight of the sink. Oh right. "I will forgive you if you do my dishes." He eyed Gemini. Would he??

Gemini blinked through his tears, sniffling a bit. "Y-You won't?" he asked in awe, eyes welling up again at the relief. There would have been no one to fetch him from the cell. The 'family' claimed that if you were caught, you were on your own. It was too much of a risk to be associated. And too much trouble.

Using the dishtowel again, he scrubbed at his face to try and get the tears to stop, skin reddening at the treatment. "I don't know why I stole them," he whispered into the towel before peeking over it, eyes wide and trying to decipher if the other was even madder about the marbles. Perhaps it was because they were shiny and fit in his pocket? He wasn't sure.

Quickly, he shook his head, shocked at the question. "No, I don't want them," he blurted out. Though it was a lie. His fingers twitched towards them on the bar but instead of grabbing at them again, he pushed them further away to prevent temptation. One of them rolled off the bar. His face reddened at the question, ducking his head. He wasn't about to tell him that his clothes were tailored to fit and conceal stolen objects. Normally, he wouldn't need them since he was trying to quit. Except, all his clothes had the hidden pockets. Even some of his clothes were charmed to allow a little bit more room or prevent a bulge, or even to keep things from clattering against each other while he walked.
He opened his mouth in protest, tears spilling. He was sorry! He really didn't mean to steal! But the deal that was presented to him... had him choking on the sobbing protest he had been about to do. The... dishes? He looked over, fingers twitching. There was bound to be some silverware... his fingers clenched onto his outfit, chin tucking again. "I-I can do them," he said hoarsely. He wanted the other to stand there and watch, to make sure he didn't steal anything. But that was too much. Shivering, he tried a different tactic. "Can you... can you move away the things I can fit in my pockets?" he tried, staring at the other's knees, tendrils flickering nervously, his body stiff as a board.
w.c.: 381

Porcelain Pinch
Of course he wouldn't, what was this kid thinking? Prosper rolled his eyes. "Nah, kid. That's too much effort. You already gave back all of what you stole. " His eyes narrowed. "You did right?" There was no telling what this kid had up his sleeve. Literally. He wouldn't be surprised if he pulled out his brother's cell from his sock. He stared. "Take off your socks and shoes." He wasn't about to chance it.

"How do you not know?" he gave him an incredulous look. "Were you possessed?" He scoffed. Prosper had never believed that ghosts were a thing, and he wasn't about to start believing in them now. There was no way that someone could get possessed. That was just something that happened in movies or dreams. "Whatever, I don't care." he waved his hand. It was way too late for this s**t. He had work in the morning. Well..he didn't have to have work. It was one of the benefits of being your own boss. But sleeping didn't make any money and he needed that money. They were running low on groceries.

Prosper sighed, moving to grab the marble that rolled off the counter. "If you say so, kid." He gave him a doubtful look. If he didn't want them then why did he steal them in the first place? The boy didn't make any sense. But no. He shouldn't argue. It was nearing four in the morning and he needed some sleep. Not to debate and try to get the truth out of a burglar that he barely knew.
The hybrid lips turned upwards into a relieved grin. "Great. " He nearly said thanks. And then was reminded of the situation that they were in. He scrubbed his face. Move the things that can ft into his pockets?! Man, this kid was so much. Nearly too much. "Can't anything fit into your pockets?" he asked incredulously, already moving over towards the sink. He wanted the work to be done so he didn't have to touch them. He didn't want to make more work for himself. Another sigh fell from his lips. "Alright, alright." Prosper stared at the sink contents, taking inventory himself. "Just what can you fit in your pockets?"

Take off his shoes and socks? Gemini peeked at his feet, frowning. Did he really think he hid stuff in there? Well, there had been incidents in the past... but he doubted he had anything in there this time. Because he was confident he didn't steal anything there, he took them off... and paled when he saw the wadded up cash. Quickly, he snatched it up and placed in on the bar, glad that Prosper had already gone to the sink.

"I..." he trailed off, hopping off the stool before padding barefooted into the kitchen. The tile was cold and a slightly shiver went through him. He looked at the dishes. Fortunately, it wasn't too much. "I.. don't know. You could just... watch and make sure?" he tried. Boy was he tired.

Rubbing at his eyes, he stifled a yawn before going completely up to the sink, reaching in for the first dish. He glanced around for the sponge and soap, before getting to work. Quietly, he mumbled "My name isn't kid... I'm in college, you know," he said quietly, chin tucked in a small pout. His emotional rollercoaster for the day was catching up to him. He yawned again before shaking his head to keep awake.

"I what? The utterance left his lips before he even made a chance to glance back over at the geist. Man, it was such a pet peeve of his when others didn't finish their damned sentences. Promise did it all the time. Man, his brother's namesake was misleading.

He wanted him to watch? So much for taking it easy. Why did the boy have to make everything so complicated? "Fine, fine. I'll watch." he settled the cutlery towards himself and leaned back on the counter. If it wasn't so dirty, he would have gladly hoisted himself up on the counter and dozed for a bit.

"You sure look like a kid." he mused, eyes drifting closed momentarily. "Like hell you're in college." He yawned. Another thing he hated---infectious yawns. It made things difficult when he had to babysit the burglar who tried to ransack his home. Pink eyes blinked immediately open. No way in hell was he going to let the man steal his s**t. Focus, he needed to focus.

"What's your name if it isn't kid then?"

The methodical washing was making his eyes droopy. He shook his head again to keep awake, scrubbing at a plate. Did this guy not wash after himself?? The family would have had a fit and assigned a harder chore. Those who did not clean after themselves when they could had to clean after everyone. Such as cleaning a toilet. Mowing the yard. "I am in college. I go to Leviathan University," he mumbled, using his forearm to rub at his heavy eyes. He didn't realize he was spending too much time polishing a coffee cup. Nor did he really realize when it slipped into his pocket.

He hesitated, pausing in cleaning to look up at the grimm through thick lashes. Would telling him his name be bad? Could he find him with his name, have the police go after him? Get the family in trouble? Despite them wiping their hands clean of him, he still had fond feelings for that strict and corrupted family. Finally, he decided to tell him, returning to cleaning. "Gemini," he mumbled, face reddening a bit as he focused too intently on a small saucer.
w.c.: 189

"Leviathan University, huh?" A senior would know what schools there were in the city. They had to in order to graduate. Prosper yawned and stared at Gemini, thoughtful. Yeah, he couldn't believe it. This boy was a thief. "You're going to have to prove it to me." he drawled, fingers curling around the counter top. His eyes went to the ceiling. It was a lot like the ceiling in his room...No, no, he couldn't sleep.

A flash of white happened in the corner of his eye, making him glance down. Just---what was that? He shook his head. Probably nothing. Who would steal dishes anyway? That was ridiculous. Then again...so was stealing marbles. "Don't get soap in your eyes." he watched him warily. He didn't want to be responsible for taking care of a nearly blind burglar. This night was already too much as it is.

"Gemini." What a weird name. His eyes narrowed. A fake name. He wasn't that tired. "Liar, you're name isn't a constellation." Then again, it wasn't like his name was normal either. Or his brother's name. Still...how could he trust someone who nearly stole his s**t? "You're going to have to show me some proof."

Gemini scoffed. "I have my i.d...," he mumbled, finishing the last two dishes. He washed his hands before looking around to dry them. Finally, he found a dishtowel and dried them before turning to Prosper.

Reaching into his pocket, the one not containing the coffee mug, he pulled out a clip wallet that held a pouch for his coins. Quickly, he pulled the identification out... before he glanced at the picture. His face lit up and he shoved the id back into his pocket. "I can't show you that," he said quickly, eyes wide and looking up at the grimm. How could he have forgotten? Perhaps he was too tired. "I... I left my carriage license at home. I can show you that later," he breathed, fidgeting.

"But I swear I'm a university student. I'm in my second year. I'm... I'm double majoring in Healing Magics and Potions," he mumbled, self conscious. A thief wanting to help. The family had laughed. And then plotted about him nicking drugs if he actually did become a nurse.

What? Was he serious? Prosper eyed him warily, not believing it for a moment. "What, you mean a fake I.D." he pushed away from the counter, relieved that the whole ordeal was over. His bed was calling him. Soon. Although, in his tired state, he wouldn't mind sleeping on the couch. Or the floor. Were his legs always this heavy to move?

Of course he was lying. "You can't show it to me because you don't have one." The size and look of the card that he pulled out was similar to his, sure. But that didn't mean the contents were the same. "Yeah, yeah. Later." he waved.

Wait---later. "What do you mean later. Are you planning on robbing me again?" Ugh, he couldn't believe this kid. What was even going through his head? He shook his head. "Sure kid. Double majoring. I'll believe that when bunyips fly." Or tomorrow. If there was proof. Prosper ran a hand through his hair. Ahhh, what was he even thinking. It was too late for this. "Show me tomorrow. It's bed time now." he prodded Gemini towards his room. Might as well have the punk stay here. Keep an eye on him. It was way too late for a kid to be out this late. He could always handcuff him to the bed when he was asleep. So he could get some sleep.

Gemini twisted his head to look back at him, not realizing he was being prodded by him. "It's not because it's fake," he yawned out, rubbing at his eyes again. "It's because I... I had to sneeze when they took the picture. And they wouldn't let me retake it," he explained hesitantly, looking forward again. Where was he going?

"Bed time? I...," he stopped, reddening even more, and turned around to face Prosper. Boy was he tired but he was confused. "Are you letting me stay the night?" he asked hopefully. His house was way too far; the grimm's was closer to the school.

He really was too tired. Even now, it was hard to keep his eyes open, swaying slightly on his feet. He shook his head again, trying to keep awake.

Prosper hummed. "Yeah, yeah. That's a likely excuse. If it's not fake then why do you want to show it to me?" He could care less if they took it midsneeze. Actually--no. He did care. The thought of it made him sleepily smirk. That would be amusing if it were true. "Show me tomorrow. I can't promise I won't laugh but I won't judge you." Okay. Maybe he'd judge him a bit. But he needed to know. Needed to see. The hybrid ruffled the other male's hair.

Yes. Bedtime. Did he need to repeat himself? "Yeah, I am." he laid a hand on his middle back and pushed again. "You said you were going to show me that student ID later. You can show me tomorrow." There was no use going home tonight. And besides. "It's not safe outside this late." he yawned. "I don't want the cops coming to me asking about a kid who was beat up on the streets all because he was walking home in dark alleyways." And he couldn't exactly trust the man to not steal as soon as he closed his eyes. Gemini could get in once, he could do it again. "C'mon, the room is just down the hall."
w.c.: 207

Did he agree to show his student ID to him tomorrow? He couldn't quite remember due to the drowsiness but he was pretty sure he had agreed to fetch his carriage license and use that to prove his age. He yawned again in response to the grimm's, letting himself be guided to the room. With his shoes out in the living room, he needed no prompting to immediately get into the very comfy looking bed. "I'm not a kid," he reminded him sleepily as he made himself comfortable in the bed, too tired to even care about being ashamed of inviting himself into another person's bed. He got under the blanket and snuggled into one of the pillows, yawning again. "And I don't go in alleys," he mumbled, eyes closing.

A sudden thought occurred to him. He pulled the pillow in tight, sleep rapidly claiming him. "Whass er name?" he murmbled in question. However, just shortly after asking the important question, sleep claimed him, awareness fading away as he succumbed to the delightful slumber.

Porcelain Pinch
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. Sure kid." He'd believe it when he saw it. Right now, it was time for bed. If only Gemini would shush. At least he didn't protest to spending the night there. What a weird burglar. Unless...he wasn't planning on sleeping. Prosper's gaze became more sharp at the reminder. He had to keep focused. At least until he was able to get those cuffs on the geist. Bed was so close.

He hummed as he grabbed a blanket from his closet. And paused"A burglar that doesn't go into alleys?" the hybrid shook his head. "You're a weird kid, Gemini." A burglar who didn't mean to steal but stole anyway without realizing, who took marbles, who was going to college and who didn't go down dark alleyways. If it weren't for the proof that he took his things, and for the fact that the geist broke into his place, he'd think that the boy was telling the truth. Why did this kid have to be so contradictory?

Oh! He hadn't told him his name yet. "I would have thought you would have known from taking----" wait. He didn't take his wallet. Prosper shook his head. That was an old one that he had completely emptied on the table. "I'm Prosper." He looked over.

What was that weird lump underneath the covers? "Hey Gemini," he said low, unsure. "What's that?"

No response.
Was he asleep? A quick prod showed him that indeed, he was.

How troublesome. Prosper let out an exasperated sigh before reaching into his bottom dresser drawer and taking out handcuffs that still had fuzz on them, although it was obvious that they were used. Prosper couldn't figure out a way to wash them. At least they'd provide some comfort. Better than actual cuffs anyway.

It was surprising how easy it was to take the male's hands and cuff them. Even more when he reached down and went into his pocket to grab what that lump was. A coffee cup? "You dirty little thief" he growled sleepily, moving the covers back up and placing the mug on his desk. That conversation could wait until he woke up.

For now, it was time to sleep.
