There were many supernatural things that Nix interacted with on a near daily basis these days...monsters and magic and talking cats. Today, he'd decided to meet back up with Bernard, the first talking cat he'd encountered (though, not actually the first supernatural shenanigans he'd dealt with), to have a chat about tech and magic, and good places to eat. All equally important, at least, on average among the two participants. They'd been discussing things, alternating around various topics, while sitting in a nice secluded area of the park he'd first been awakened as a Senshi. Can't be having a chat with a cat while sitting out in the open, of course. That would be odd. Both for the cat, and his ever-so-unsubtle outfit. "Anyway," Nix said breezily after a pause. "I'd been thinking maybe it was time to go see my homeworld place. I'd talked with that alien guy, Caedus, about it one day, ya know...I dunno how much can be on an, uh, space potato, but I'll never know without looking, right?"

Bernard had met up with Nix this day. He really didn't mind meeting the eager young man, but something was telling him that this day was a bit different. He just couldn't put his fur-stache on it. Luckily Nix had decided to go to a more secluded part of the park and Bernard was happy to chat and to listen to whatever the senshi may have wanted to. As much as Bernard disliked it, he did have a responsibility as a Guardian Cat, and he would do his best at it. After all, he didn't want to be known as 'that' guardian, or the 'lazy' guardian.
He was however currently on his back, having rolled around in the grass for a bit as he listened to Nix. When the other talked about his home world, Bernard wondered for a moment if it would have been full of frogs. Did they also eat frogs there or were those a sacred animal?
He hmmed, to the young man. "I'm more surprised you haven't gone there already. Most senshi would have, though there are some who have waited longer like you have. After all, you never know what it's going to be like of course." His fur-stache was still bothering him, but in a different way. What was going on? "If you're nervous about it, you can always take someone else with you. I would assume that two would be better than one in terms of new discoveries, at least if you want to share the experience with a friend. There might be more than you expect. Or less. It's too bad you can't get a preview of it through a telescope." What was it... ah! He suddenly remembered!
No wonder it had taken him so long! He hadn't done this before! He started to get back onto his feet, though it took a few tries, until he could finally stand, and went back over to the boy, with a glint in his eye and a smirk on his furred face. "Nix my boy, I do believe that you are due for an upgrade. And I apologize for not realizing it sooner."

SSBrosB Sorry for the delay, I shall reply more quickly next time! “An…upgrade?” Nix replied, with a quizzical frown, not quite understanding the meaning right off the bat. “What needs upgrading?” He considered briefly before the proper meaning dawned on him. “Wait, you mean me, don’t you?” He gasped at that. “Wow, really? How, uh…how does it work? Do I get to see you do a backflip?” That last question was accompanied by a big grin, and he was clearly kidding…although he did hope to witness it. Nix had talked to a bunch of senshis about different things, and had read everything he could in the senshi phone, so he had a fair idea of what sorts of things come with an ‘upgrade,’ although somehow he’d thought it would take longer. Still, it made the already rather excitable boy just that much more lively, hopping to his feet in one easy motion, and…well, he was tempted to pick Bernard up right then, but figured he probably shouldn’t, so just looked down expectantly.

Bernard nodded his head once. "Yes. It would seem that you are ready for the 'next level' of being a senshi! You'll need to power down, but then when you go and power up next time, you will say 'Nix Moon Power, Make-Up!' At least I'm assuming Nix is a moon if what I've read online is correct." Was wikipedia still a good source for scientific information? He wasn't sure what the younger generation was using these days.
"And then you should be in your new uniform!" Bernard quickly wondered if it would have the same frog-themed boots. "And you'll be able to do a bit more than when you were just a basic senshi. You're a bit stronger and faster and your new super attack is called 'Big Tongue'." Bernard made a face, but quickly got back on topic. "Finally, you can travel to your planet every 2 weeks." Bernard paused for a bit, trying to think if he was missing anything. "I believe that's it, so if you want to try it out, I would suggest powering down and then powering back up."

"Really?" Nix replied, blinking in surprise. "That's all? I just gotta say something different?" His eyebrows raised, then he shrugged. "Well, alright. Let's see how this works, then!" He hopped back up to his feet, took a brief look around to make sure they were still alone, and with a wave of his hand, disappeared the senshi outfit. He was left there in a fairly plan summer getup: t-shirt, shorts, sneakers. It didn't last long, though, as he immediately held out his henshin pen, twirled it around playfully, then after a grin to Bernard, declared, "Okay, Nix Moon Power, Make-Up!" And...then he was back to his usual outfit. "Huh. Doesn't...feel any different? Should it feel different?" he asked doubtfully, looking down at himself with his arms and legs spread out a bit to inspect the look. SSBrosB He didn't get his pen specifically upgraded by Bernard yet~

Bernard looked hungrily at Nix's boots once the other had powered up and for a moment was lost in wondering if frog legs tasted better with lemon or butter.
He shook his head though. "Ah yes, I forgot. I need to upgrade your pen also." He felt a bit ashamed that he had forgotten, but Nix seemed to be his senshi experiment when it came to remembering what he needed to do. "If you would please give it to me and I can upgrade your pen for you. Then you can power down and then power up in your super form."
He backed up a bit, waiting for Nix to give him the senshi pen. Though it really wasn't a pen, more like some sort of stick or baton or something. Bernard didn't really understand the naming scheme, but he wasn't the one who came up with it.

Nix laughed lightly and nodded. “I gotcha,” he replied, and wiggled his froggy toes playfully before he powered down once more, before offering over his fairly plain ‘pen’. “I promise not to tell anyone you forgot!” he said with a giggle. He squatted down in front of the cat to watch him work…although he had a suspicion it would be rather like the ‘creation’ of the pen in the first place. Which was still…interesting, but wasn’t really much to watch in terms of creating anything! He smirked at the memory.

Bernard watched the wiggled toes with wide eyes, for a moment going back into his primal kitty brain. However, the wiggly toes were soon gone and replaced by ordinary footwear and a pen was put in front of him. He sent a small glare towards at now-Toby before 'hmmphing' and scooting the pen towards himself a bit.
Bernard could have just upgraded the pen without doing anything fancy, but he knew that Toby had been entertained by what he had done the first time, so he decided to do some more 'acrobatics' for the young man.
First he moved to the right and wiggled. Then, he moved, as quickly as he could, to the left and wiggled. Finally he tried to do the roll-over once again, and after about 5 tries of pulling himself up, he finally did it. And the pen suddenly glowed! It soon stopped however, and the pen was now slightly different from before. "Now..." Bernard started, panting a bit from the 'exercise'. "It's up-graded." Another breath. "Go ahead and... power up." He said, now sitting back on his haunches once again to catch his breath.

SSBrosB OMG. I don't know how this slipped off my radar. I guess I thought it wasn't my go? D: I was updating journals, and found this unfinished. So sorry! We can probably wrap this up pretty quick, get us both another completed req~ Toby watched Bernard move around with a small grin on his face. It was almost...graceful what he witnessed. Almost. He did his best to not laugh, and luckily mostly succeeded...although his face very clearly showed just how amused he was by the 'impressive' acrobatics the cat pulled off. "Oh, wonderful!" he declared happily, pushing most of his mirth into the 'oh,' where it was easily hidden... "Let's see, then!" He picked up the pen and twirled it in his fingers a moment before saying his magic words and felt the familiar sensation of his...very form-fitting outfit swirling about him. There was a subtle difference to it all, so when the glow subsided and he was dressed, he looked down, and patted his now-blue arms. "Oh, nice," he declared with a big grin. "Thanks, Bernie! This is great!"
