Passing through a mirror was like passing through a wall of water, or similar he imagined, you just didn't get wet. It had that same sort of feeling though. The arrival into mirrorspace was boring as usual. Nothing there to greet himself and Eion, unless you counted white walls and white floors as something. He supposed in a literal sense it was something, it was made up of matter and took up space and was solid. But it was just white - all white.
"I'd say forgive the lack of decorating but really I found out we can't leave things here...things move. I asked once, when I was new, if I could move into mirrorspace...a bed and my things...and sleep here." Remarque had been rather concerned, at the time, for why one of his mirror senshi would want to live here. He'd explained, enough to get the message across, and the other had put him up and offered him a job. His prince had been just that - his prince. Though most would use the term knight in shining armor. Remarque was more of a prince.
"The mirror we need to go through is this way." Since mirrorscape meant they'd need to go through yet another mirrors surface. "You can power up if you'd like." He whispered as he turned to face the other, moving to pet the others hair gently. "I'd like to see you powered up..." It had been a long time, and they hadn't gotten along then. He would get to see him now, when they were on better terms. It would be nice now.

Eion never cared for the falsehoods of the mirror. The dip into the deep, familiar ocean, with only Kiuchi's hand to act as current to deliver him, left him unnervingly dry by the other side. The lot of it a lie told to his body — one that it accepted wholesale. But as he surfaced with dry fingers and dry hair, Eion was reminded once again of his dislike for the mirror. Its lies and trickery wove many into its folds, including Kiuchi. And, Eion estimated, it infected them all the same. The mirror trades in insidiousness.
He let Kiuchi speak freely, without interruption. Soon came fact that no Mirror Senshi could live in their domain, just as none lived in the Rift. The thought of it simmered for a moment before a touch of fingers to his hair solicited his attention. A short hum acquiesced to Kiuchi's request.
Now safe from prying eyes, Eion forsook his glamour. Skin bubbled and peeled in clumps before falling away like overcooked meat. It sizzled, smoke rising, while flakes turned black and burned into ash. Ripples of red, nibbling fires traced their way up his arms, always searching for more of his false appearance to consume. Soon his pipes rippled like heat into existence, and his nails jutted through the remains of delicate finger pads, and white sclera melted until they dissolved away entirely. The lot of it was its own lie, he knew — no great heat came off him despite the burning that his sloughing glamour described.
When the last dregs of Eion's appearance vaporized into smoke, Faustite fell into step behind his companion. His captain's demeanor squared shoulders, emboldened gestures. Past experience and reticence clung to him in how he remained close to Kiuchi and wary of the flickers running like a heartbeat through the place. "A mirror in a mirror." His voice spread and echoed through the shifting chambers. "How deep it must go."
How long until the Dark Mirror discovered another alcove within their alcove within their world? Would Mirrorspace lead them ever further into its own Labyrinth, stalk them with its Minotaur, and wrench them from their world? And would it react ill to him, a Negaverse agent, in the company of one of its own brand of senshi? I wonder.

It was terrifying, and rather stomach churning, to see Eion become the Captain he was...a half youma Captain. His aura was also different, not too different, from a normal officer of the Negaverse. it took a lot for him not to pull away, to recoil as if he might catch something. This was a friend though and it wasn't catchy, he was sure of it, but it was human instinct. he just was good at shoving it to the back of his mind - as he did now.
"Mmm, yes a mirror inside a mirror. To power up...or awaken we need to go through a mirror in here also. It's as deep as a rabbit hole I suppose...maybe deeper." Shrugging as he smiled over to the other, a wink given to the other.
"Nothing as of yet, at least not on mine. Each of us can gain one of our own....and with crystals we find here we can create things. So far I only have one....but, from what we can gather, the crystals were created from what the chaos seed destroyed...like recycling worlds and giving us the elements to build something new for ourselves. That's the best way I think I can describe it. Because it is the building blocks from what it destroyed...what it used the Princess to destroy. I feel bad...but at the same time it's something for just us." A replacement, of sorts, for the homeworlds none of them would ever have.
"The crystals....each different in color and feel are random finds." He whispered, while pulling something from subspace. it wasn't a plushie, or a pillow, but a small chunk of pale clue crystal It was cool to the touch, one thing he liked about it, and it felt a bit like a sweating bottle of water might.
"This is one that I found...I haven't been coming here often enough or I'd have found more - I'm sure." Maybe not the same color but he was sure he would have found more by now.

'To power up… Or awaken we need to go through a mirror in here also.'
So the mirror holds your leash. Not a man, not a king, not an entity beyond godhood. How interesting.
The thought found no voice while Kiuchi continued to other concerns — to crystals and creation and cleverly-skipped-over monstrosities. Faustite's fingers curled and flexed at his back. How thoroughly you ignore what you don't want tainting your construct. He made no comment of this, either; Kiuchi was no soldier of his. Kiuchi remained a contact with news to share of the eternally shifting tides in the Mirror. What he wanted to share — what he chose to share — would receive no interruption.
Kiuchi's comment of conscientious recycling received lofted brows. He found no reason within his purview for why Mirror Senshi would need these islands. A spat of land with nothing on it and no means to grow but through magical crystal acquisition read as a distraction to the youma captain — a red herring. A bid for attention where their thoughts should've been directed elsewhere. Perhaps to the mirror through which they would travel. Perhaps to the destruction wrought by this chaos seed. To the worlds it consumed wholesale. Instead, Faustite looked upon a boy whose eyes filled with wonder at the plot of land he inherited. From whom, he didn't know, but such lineage was beside the point to him. Faustite found this curious.
Curious and dangerous. "May I see it?" Black eyes found the dripping crystal, a mimicry of a starseed, before finding Kiuchi's gaze. One hand wormed out from his back and opened, daggered nails spread, for passing along the strange acquisition.
"How do you use them?"

"Of course...that's all there really is in mirrorscape...our islands and floating shards of mirror." Like stars hung in the sky. They offered some light but it was, he figured, like space. He hadn't seen space, though he'd been in space, so he couldn't be sure what it looked like. He still wished he had tried to see it, to leave the palace, but perhaps it had been a good thing he hadn't. He wasn't sure if the Princess had been right about some illness once having plagued the place, and if it was still an issue, or if there would be nothing there due to the chaos seed and what it had done to her home planet. Had it been turned into a husk? Just rock and her palace seated upon a globe of rock? Maybe the decayed remains of trees? Maybe it was good he hadn't gone trying to get outside somehow, even if he was curious still.
"Mmm." Tilting his head, watching the other touch the crystal he held he offered it to the other to hold. "I've yet to use one..but when they are crushed they create something, each color is different it seems."
Looping an arm about the others waist, without much thought to his actions, he headed them towards the large golden mirror they would need to go through to get to mirrorscape. It was perhaps by luck, or maybe it was meant to be, that peeking out from behind the mirror, just letting a corner be seen, was what seemed to be a red crystal. Curious, but excited, dark eyes held fast on the object before the teen let go of the other, fingers brushing against the others side, as he parted from the other and went to gather the item. Nearly tripping and going through the mirror itself, which wouldn't have been a good idea, he managed to get the crystal free.
"It's warm..." He knew someone who had a red crystal but he'd never held one, never felt it's warmth slight as it was. It was different from the one he'd been carrying around for so long. Fire, he guessed, was this one while the pale blue was water...at least he thought it was water, or something similar.
"I can try, in mirrorscape, to make something." Though he didn't know what combining the two would do he was interested in seeing if they'd react together somehow.

You're making use of it. All that empty space. The reason escaped him; perhaps there wasn't much else to do with the war. Assist the Negaverse and risk slavery alongside enemy of Order. Assist Order and become target of a faction far bigger — and far more powerful — than them. Where else could the Mirror go but inside their strange, foreign homes?
What else could they do but build those homes with crystals like the one in Faustite's hand? He looked to the crystal, thumbed the condensation off and was reminded, briefly, of his youma. The squid often dripped like this; but what a crystal produced with those same properties escaped him. Water, it was clear — but would it produce a river? A stream? A lake? An ocean? Fog? Rain? And could it be used against enemy senshi somehow? It felt cool, however, and tempting. Tempting like the arm that found its way around his waist, eliciting old memory. His skin sung its approval.
While Kiuchi excited himself over a glint of red in the distance, Faustite wiped the crystal over his own brow. And when Kiuchi pitched himself forward, catching himself gracelessly, Faustite followed along at a slow clip. Dutiful metal heels clicked against the floor.
'It's warm', he had said.
Warm like me. Will it make smoke with this crystal? If you asked, Kiuchi, you could have smoke for free. Faustite tossed the crystal to Kiuchi, curious if the senshi would — or could — catch it. "Try it." Whether anything could come of this experiment, it was a worthwhile endeavor. A worthwhile watch.
Faustite nodded toward the mirror, swallowing his inhibitions, as he extended his hand for the taking. Behind him, smoke whispered out of his pipes at a quicker pace. The golden mirror was tall, grand, and imposing in all of its austere elegance. Beyond it lay the equally esoteric world of Mirrorscape.
"Let's go. Before I change my mind."

Nodding his head, slowly, he had to bend to catch the crystal tossed to him. It was hard to use both hands to catch one while holding another, and he was not that talented a person. So with both crystals tucked into the waistband of his uniform he took the offered hand and gently led the other through the golden frame.
Where they wound up was a single island, floating in the middle of what seemed to be stars and darkness. Other islands not too far off, but not accessible to either of them, floated there in the vast emptiness of the mirrorscape. The ground was white, pure white, like someone had taken oaktag and laid it down and had yet to put color to it for some school project. It was simply blank. The only thing which stood out, which added color to the landscape was mostly vertical in nature. It took up space horizontally, without a doubt, but it did more for eating into the darkness above them. The whiteness of the ground was cut into and fitted around a large structure - a citadel. Gothic in architecture it was large, imposing, and what you'd expect from such a building. Though to date it would likely be impossible, and who knew what it was even made from.
A single spire, where other such buildings may have had more, pierced highest into the darkness surrounding them. It was there at the top, unreachable to them all, that the chaos seed resided. Watching over them as it provided for them this realm - this home. Like some sort of silent puppet master, or something similar, but it didn't move nor speak nor did it even seem alive...but it could be felt none the less. It was there.
It was in the distance, able to be seen but not reached by normal means, that the islands floated - some owned and some not. Some had things being built on them while others lay there, drifting, white as could be. White was said to be the color of peace and purity and black that of darkness and chaos...but white was the lack of color...where as black was all colors. One would think the chaos would be more with the lack of color..the absence of everything. But...that didn't seem to be the case...as he was called chaos and his uniform was covered in black, like the one next to him.
"This is what we've been given."

Faustite braced through another mirror. Expectant to find more of the same — more shifting flickers of old history and bygone seating — he discovered a realm similar, but sufficiently displaced. They spent only seconds in the throat of a strange, yet sturdy structure, and then onto a floor mirror that delivered them further. Overhead was a vast darkness, impenetrable and yet effortless, where dappled shards formed stars. And those flickering reflectors likely supported that strange glow, where blank, white islands appeared to provide their own luminescence. The soft underlighting caught the smooth contours of Kiuchi's chin and dazzled off his ornate gold bangles. The sheer overlay colored that light temporarily as it cast over the insides of his arms. Here, the strangeness of Mirrorspace came to a head in the very way it bent the reality around them.
Faustite's eyes were aglitter with those stars as he looked up. Noticing not when Kiuchi parted, his hand hung unused in the air while he looked to every mirrored fleck. And across the space his gaze drew further until he found the crown of Mirrorspace's own citadel. It differed little from the one that stood strong through the Rift and Negaspace, but bore some of the same era architecture. Was this a Citadel from a different realm, then? A different reality?
His tone belied a soft wonder. "This isn't what I expected." From the chaos seed to the false stars and back to the chaos seed his attention wandered. And finally, once again, he settled on Kiuchi. While from earth, now garbed in the Mirror's choice of outerwear, he looked so firmly woven into this place. All the reflective portions of metal aglitter with those starry shards left Faustite breathless, and he struggled for hold on his composure. The esoteric beauty in this space finally revealed itself, clothed in the gauze of romance, but he needed to focus.
Kiuchi's words veritably called for that focus. "Go ahead." Faustite took his first steps across the nondescript, nearly sandy white surface. He offered no advice — Kiuchi must know that they were in a small space and any sort of reactive explosion stood high chance of knocking them both off the platform — and any encouragement was just as useless. The agents instead stood with a hand pressed into pis pants pocket while he waited for the demonstration.

"It wasn't what anyone of us expected...it's different from mirrorspace - worlds apart in a way." Perhaps in a literal sense even. Just where the golden mirror brought them, precisely, was hard to figure. This was called mirrorscape but that didn't exactly tell anyone where exactly they were. They just weren't in mirrorspace anymore.
Some yards away from where they'd turned up on his island, and away from the Captain, the dark mirror senshi knelt slowly. Both crystals in his hands as he took the time to look them over. Rolling them in his hands he savored the heat, and the cool dampness, they offered him. When he finally set them on the ground he stood back up and went for the stomping approach, there wasn't any other way to really shatter them - right?
Raising his slippered foot he brought it down with precise aim...and as the two shattered what formed was a pool of water. Not just a pool but a spring. It wasn't round, not by any means, but it was some random odd shape. At six foot by six foot, if measured, it was no wonder the dark mirror senshi fell right into the steaming water with a splash which sent up a spray of heated water. Long limbs flailed for a moment at the sudden shock, a gasping breath, as he came to the surface. His hair, wet, hung in his face even as he tried to brush it out of his dark eyes.
Well, now they knew what it did. "A spring..." Obviously, very obvious. It made some sense really, though he did wonder if other things from the combination could be created, he did like this though. This...this was nice...it felt good - relaxing even.

Faustite snorted, a twisted smile forming at the sudden humor in the etheric space. Kiuchi caused a great splash, and while the ground never quite wetted with new water, it never seemed fully dry. Faustite approached with hands clasped behind his back. "It could've gone worse," he offered in his quiet rasp. "If you broke them like we do." He pantomimed a bite, teeth clicking together audibly. It could have killed Kiuchi, Faustite supposed.
The grandeur of it was seductive — the way the false stars gleamed, the glittering expanse of the new spring, the stark presence of the tower in the distance. Perhaps that varnish was what drew the Dark Mirror to these spaces. He recognized that strange beckoning, even if he distrusted it. Even if he pulled to mind the pair of arduous journeys through Mirrorspace. So this was the playground the Mirror Senshi kept when they slipped into their looking glasses. This was how it was kept, how they played with it, how it grew. Nothing like it existed in Destiny City or the Rift or Negaspace. An alternate dimension it was — all kept by the seed displayed forebodingly over its spire.
He stepped closer to help Kiuchi out of his new watering hole, but the heat wafting out repelled him. Runnels of moisture from the air coalesced on his pipes. "How elemental," he observed.
"Heat and water equals hot spring. Predictable, if inelegant." Likely more crystals existed, each bearing different properties. But they weren't bound to the elements of the periodic table — the blue produced water and the red produced heat. And while he hadn't touched the heated crystal himself, he trusted Kiuchi's assessment. "You're building worlds out here. Fragments of places made to hang like mobiles. Like the shards in the sky." His gaze raised upward temporarily. What comes from a space like this?
"This is what that chaos seed gave you. Canvases with paints made from the worlds it consumed." Its transitory nature touched him, spilling out like the spring.
"And these crystals — they just appear?" His attention found the playful Kiuchi, where he bobbed in his latest acquisition.

Staring up at the other, as he kept to the one spot in the spring where he'd surfaced, he nodded his head. "Mmm, what color, where...it's all random. I know the first time any were found it was just one for each color and only certain people got them. I can't remember who but there were...maybe six or seven different ones." He couldn't remember exactly but he did remember seeing several different colors, including green and yellow...grey also, right? He'd have to find some more, if he could, and see what they'd do. Is red and pale blue did this...well green he assumed would do some landscaping....that was promising right now, looking at all the empty white around them.
"Yeah...the seed, and I suppose it's host, destroyed worlds and recycled them into the crystals and this..." Waving one hand about, sending droplets of warm water into the air.
This was why he loved the mirrorscape. There was something about it that was different, even if his island had previous housed nothing but whiteness. There was something about this are, just as there was something different about mirrorspace, this area though was different and offered so much to them. He just didn't want to, couldn't, think of the worlds and lives it had destroyed to provide them this. Had it done all of that to provide them this or was it giving this to them because it could...because it had already built up all those resources and had just decided to give them to the dark mirror. He didn't like to think on that...it was something he kept his mind away from whenever he could, it would leave him feeling guilt and sadness.
Instead, to pull away from those thoughts, he reached up towards the other making grabby hands. "Come in." His own clothing was soaked and the gossamer fabric was, after a moments thought, removed before he was again reaching for the other. The fabric tossed to the side, for now, as it lay in a wet heap on the white ground.

"Crystals and chaos seeds," he breathed to himself. More similarities between the Negaverse and Dark Mirror surfaced from this visit. A chaos seed must be the progenitor of their chaotic influence and the presence of crystals indicated a peculiarity among chaos factions. Metallia's chaos produced crystals of a different sort that spattered the Rift and Negaspace. These crystals, suffused with energy, provided the potent environment to nurture their youma. Nothing of them, so far as Faustite knew, produced any kind of building material.
Is Metallia host to a chaos seed? Is Laurelite the host with Metallia as the seed? Is this chaos seed something else entirely? Was it plucked from Metallia? The questions multiplied, each splitting off into their own branches of infinite, unanswerable hypotheticals.
His attention was caught once more by Kiuchi's emphatic wave. Faustite sighed through his nose; he remembered his shower, how water coalesced down inside his pipes. How he stood on his hands to dump the blackened water. It was with a measure of reticence that he approached and began to unbutton his vest. "I'm not like you anymore," Faustite clarified. Fingers worked deftly at the buttons despite overly long nails. Soon he shrugged his vest off his shoulders as his bones fit through its brass rings. "I run hot. Like a high fever. It makes summers intolerable. Hot water too," he finished with a glance at the hot spring.
He would try it, however. Off came the vest, carefully lifted out and over the pipes, and next came his buttoned shirt. Boots were then slipped off his feet and set aside. Next came black socks, exposing bare feet blackened halfway up from the toes. His toenails were similarly long and pointed. "I'll do this for you." At least it's real water.
He stepped in with more caution and care than Kiuchi's sudden dunk. The water meeting him was equivalent to warm bath water, which easily stirred his temperature. Pipes fogged until they no longer bent reflections. And Faustite, easily turning red with the water's heat, gave a sigh to cool himself. His countenance wrinkled when water bubbled into the lowest set of pipes and sat heavy in his core.
"I wonder if starseeds work as substitute crystals. Or if you can eat crystals to restore energy." The Mirror lacked the Negaverse's energy orbs, though they seemed less dependent on energy expenditure. Strange, indeed, they were.
Squinting at Kiuchi, Faustite motioned him closer.

Oh! He hadn't thought of that. He had thought the pipes were just that, and perhaps the steam was magical in nature...not that there was anything more to it. He could have guessed, but there were a million and one things he could have guessed. Already set to apologize, to let the other know he didn't need to join him, he stopped before he spoke a word. His thoughts came to a crashing halt as he watched the other strip down. It was a rather curious thing really, the pipes and the blackened parts of his feet and the claws. It was all very different from the person he was used to. It wasn't disturbing though, the only disturbing thing was when he changed from human to this.
"If it's too hot...umm you can sit at the edge..." And let his feet and legs dangle into the heated water. Maybe he should think of a cool pond of water for the other next time?
Watching as the other entered the water, careful as he moved close to help if it was somehow needed, he managed a smile at the other. "You're ok?"
"I..I don't know. I know the princess licked a crystal, because apparently she ate crystals...so did some of us. It wasn't edible to her. But her crystals, she said they grew them there...they had little taste but were good and filling." They'd had no choice but to eat them, eventually in the case of some, as there had been nothing else and they'd been there for days. "It helped speed up us crystallizing I think....but it would have happened anyway to us. I don't know if anyone else has remaining marks - like I do." Shrugging as he moved closer to the other, close enough that he settled an arm over the others shoulders.
"I wonder if your idea could be tested...just to see. We both serve chaos...maybe there are more things in common than we know."

Faustite shrugged lackadaisically. "I won't stay long." He pressed his face into the water to wet his hair down and slick it back; over a year of growth left his waves long and unruly.
"Imagine feeling water pooling in your back. Imagine the pressure. That's what it's like." A strange sensation by his account, though it didn't impede his tenuous breathing. Those pipes needn't be capped off to avoid drowning.
The touch to his shoulders was rousing, yet gave him pause. Otherworldly as he was now, he knew well the abject disgust others harbored for his body. Kiuchi largely ignored it, whether out of politeness or its simple inconsequence to him, so Faustite seized the presented opportunity. Black fingers reached up to parse through Kiuchi's hair and arrange the dark wefts out of his face. Faustite wondered, briefly, if Kiuchi considered dying it. If Xi-Wang placed enough stock in his natural appearance to pursue its improvement.
But that conversation was far more inconsequential than the one they had. "I always keep a starseed." His hand pulled away from Kiuchi's forehead where it hovered in the air, then a small, green starseed rippled into existence. It glowed vibrant with the pleasant memories of the misfortunate — of someone's daughter ever lost to them. "I can always get more. Try it." He ushered the small gem out toward his companion.
He expected little would come of it — starseeds lacked the chaos native to the Negaverse unless corrupted — but their colors and vibrance matched some of what he saw in the crystals.

That was good, he didn't want the other uncomfortable in the spring. That would take the enjoyment out of it, for them both, so he was glad to hear the other say he wouldn't stay long. The idea of feeling like there was water in his back was hard to picture, though he was sure he got a bit of the idea. "That...doesn't sound pleasant. I don't know how you manage. It seems an uncomfortable burden." Both in the physical sense, it seemed like it would get in the way and be a weak spot of sorts, but also just how did you handle it mentally having such a drastic change in your body. For those with body issues he was sure such a thing would be worse, he did hope Eion didn't have such issues.
"I've heard they give you energy...so I guess it makes sense to keep one. We have nothing like that." They didn't keep, or even lay hands, on the energy they gathered. The wraiths did all the work and they saw none of it so certainly couldn't use it and they didn't take starseeds....that was a persons life after all.
He didn't like the idea and yet looking at it....the bright little crystal in the others hand. That was what a life amounted to. That was the spark, sort to speak, without it a person died...was nothing. With one a person was something - they were anything and everything possible...all sorts of potential held within something so small but bright. Lifting his head, dark eyes staring upward towards the star like shards, soft pink lips parted before closing around the starseed. Lips closing about the others darkened digits. The bite he took was the poor dark mirror senshi's undoing as the crunch, satisfying as it might be to hear, was not so satisfying on his stomach nor his throat. It burned and it caused his stomach to churn in such a sudden and violent manner.
Dark eyes wide he moved quickly, unknowingly moving right into the others lap, as he leaned over and out of the pool of water in order to heave as he tried to pull himself up so he could properly heave up whatever needed to come up - hands and knees being the preferable way to do this.
The other might get something from consuming starseeds but it seemed he would gain nothing from it, aside from throat burned from the acid which came with vomiting and an upset stomach, there would be no energy for him to gain. Having scrambled, and nearly face planted, the senshi of Gorgon's was busy with shaking shoulders and arms, which wanted to give out under him, as he emptied whatever was in his stomach. Oh how he hoped mirrorspace would banish that...
He also wished for some form of pain relief, the pain was nearly unbearable, and with the force it had brought tears to his eyes which clung to his thick lashes. It was, perhaps to some, a pretty sight to see.
