The last flowers from Hanami season had fallen, dry, manywithered, some saved, and the lands of the still-fragile pride waited, hoping for their pride to recieve some sign of hope.

The dour atmosphere was mingled in intrigue -- Lord Hien, king of the Domans, gathered prey, hunting extra kills and small treasures. The lord was active even as his adopted sibling returned, the pair moving into the royal dens. That evening, Hien merely moved about, seeming to be doing... Something, and finally he gathered the pride by the one river.

The gathered prey was by the king, and his sibling sat, paw on a basket woven by a crafter, and the Lord waited for all to gather, the king finally breathing.

"Brothers and sisters," Hien began. His voice was soft, calm. "You know we have lost brothers and sisters top disease, be it by death, or by fleeing into the roguelands to seek safety elsewhere. Many are new to us, but many too have lost family, friends, loved ones/ While we heal, even with young forthcoming, these lost dead have not had a proper release into the next qworld. So, for the sake of their spirits, I have gathered you all this evening. Tonight will be a night to remember them. This night we will offer them all we can. Please, brothers and sisters, when you eat, share with your loved ones. A small offering for their journey may be left for a Kojin to take to them -- if you leave not food, gifts will suffice -- as we know Hanami is ended and there are many dry flowers. Those may be cast to the river. For now, let us feast, and prepare our goodbyes."

The king shifted, indicating to the feast provided, andsmiled -- though the light of hope never quite lit his eyes.

Welcome to Toro-Nagashi!

This is a new tradition coming into being with Lord Hien;s rule. More will occur for activities, but this is both pridal meta and an RP to help the pride go official.

BUT YOU GET TO BENEFIT.

User Image

The adopted sister of Lord Hien, Lifa, is bringing 4 beautiful cubs into the world and you can win one. One post = 1 ticket, and everybody is welcome to enter.

Who can post?
You may join in with a passing rogue or a Doman, as long as you cause no trouble. Despite the number of felines, all species are welcome equally, so any lind SoA qualifies.

If you do not have a lined SoA, then that's not a problem -- the valley of the Doma is full of all kinds of unlined creatures too -- if it fits, it posts as far as the pride goes!

This boy may take on any rank available in the pride, minus slave ranks as an adult, including samurai. He isthe son of a non-inheriting princess, after all!

All I ask is nobody comes in for a fight. This is a time of saying goodbye to those kiulled by plague and those whom fled and never returned for whatever reason.

This boy is a twin! I own his sister. c:

If you like what you see or want to learn more, the I/T is here!

More questions? PM me! I like making new friends and helping. -SMACKED- Don't ask me about patch 4.3 or my Garlean babies.

Usahtiel sat with her eyes closed just a short ways away from where Lifa was. Not too close, but enough that if she was called for, she could respond quickly. Today was a somber day, but hopefully it would usher in a new dawn for the pride.

Yellow-green eyes opening, she looked out across the way and gazed upon what remained of Doma. There weren't that many among them yet, but she hoped that that would change. It was needed, in this time.

At least the lands were flourishing once more though. Just one step at a time, she thought with a nod, and perhaps they could persuade some rogues into joining them.

Aislin lay in the shadows of a nearby tree, watching the proceedings with a narrowed gaze. She was curious to watch a pride in the midst of their attempts at rebuilding. Granted, she didn't really care what did happen or will happen to them - she did not plan on sticking around once her cubs were old enough to fend for themselves - but it would be interesting to watch nonetheless.

Of course, this particular event was certainly depressing. She remained quiet, just watching for now. Even she knew better than to snark during something like this.

Besides, this would be a learning experience for her new cubs. The last ones had ended up... sort of wild. Perhaps a more traditional setting would help tame this bundle.

Although, that was already starting to prove incorrect, considering how one of her cubs had already wandered off. Aislin sighed, shaking her head at the white coated cub as he tiptoed beneath a few of the gathered.

((Aislin's cubs are free to rp in this if they'd like, as well.))

The world was new and interesting, and Mykelti was fascinated by all the people around him. He had no way of knowing that this was actually fairly small for a pride, not that it would have mattered a hoot to him. Black ears pulled back against his head, he kept opening his mouth to say something and then closing it again, unsure of the reception to him talking.

The sight of a familiar black canine had him hurrying towards them though. He liked Sidd. The maned wolf was a no-nonsense kind of guy and he always left Myk thinking. Sometimes confused, but mostly thinking.

Sidd'hartha had noticed the cub coming towards him. How could he have not? The little tyke looked like a bunch of snow wearing a mask.

The two had met a while back, when the small cub had taken off while his mother was asleep. Seriously, he was lucky the Domans were a nice group. There were prides that would have captured or killed him for entering their territory. Somehow though, Sidd had become the kid's sort-of-caretaker whenever his mom wasn't around. Which was more frequent as the days went by. Sidd wondered about that.

Thoughts for another day though. The maned wolf snorted, glancing down as Mykelti siddled up beneath him. "Shouldn't you be over by your mom?"

Myk blinked innocently up at him, "I'm near her." He paused to gesture over to her, "She's just right there. Besides," he sat down partially on Sidd's foot, "it's boring sitting over there."

Lost in his own thoughts, the idea of joining a new pride was madness. He wandered the rouge land for a long time before he realized that he missed her and it didn't matter where he lived if he could get to know her better.

Maeve rolled about in the grass by the tree she wasn't really thinking about whatever the pride stuff was since it didn't really matter to her in the least unless her mommy said so. Now pouncing Myk now there was an idea!! She got up and put her butt in the air her tail waving about. Then she ran over to where he was talking to the maned wolf.

Hien watched others gather. There were few -- Yangu was doing her best as a lone kojin; Ushtiel was alert -- and he smiled spying the face of a lioness he'd heard sighted bordering the pride drawing near, making sure to motion for all -- pride or not -- to eat -- and the king sat, placing one paw on the basket by Lifa, the femaler nodding to him.

"Quiet night, brother." Lifa said, tone soft. Hien chuckled, nodding.
"It is, but it is something. And that is more than the dead had." The male sighed gently, looking towards a den -- a newly marked shrine with white bones deep inside -- carefully moved in the position the body had laid.... Kaien's bones, and Lifa nosed her sibling gently.

"It will be well, brother. Let them eat, and maybe see if they'll help find any lightbugs you and I missed." Lifa soothed. Hien chuckled.

"And you need to be careful."

The king laughed, then smiled spying the cubs, moving and collecting a vchunk of meat before carrying it to the pair, placing it before them and smiling.

"You little ones may eat too, you know." Hien whispered. "It's alright."

As Hien walked away to speak to those cubs, Tiel finally turned her gaze back over to Lifa. She debated silently for a moment, before pushing herself up to her paws and quietly making her way over to the lioness.

"How are you doing, Lifa?" With all the excitement, it had been a while since the two had been able to simply sit and chat. The cheetah still remembered the day they had met on the mountainside, and she smiled at how the pride was steadily growing. It wasn't much, but it would be enough. She glanced briefly over at the familiar white form of Kshitji, smiling slightly that he had taken her advise and joined in on the festivities.

Sidd sent a hard stare down at the little male. He opened his mouth to retort about how that wasn't a good excuse and wandering into a group of strangers really wasn't the best method of gaining entertainment, but he paused, nose twitching as he eyed another cub charging towards them. Myk's sister, he'd bet.

With a deadpan stare, he watched as the girl barreled into her brother, pulling a squeak and a growl from him.

One minute he was staring up at the maned wolf, and the next, he had something smacking into him. He would later deny the very high-pitched squeak that came from him.

Swiveling his head around, Mykelti pushed his back feet lightly into his sister's side. "Maeve! What was that for?"

He likely would have followed up with a responding play-tackle had they not been approached by a much larger lion. It was the food being dropped beside them that had the cub's attention now. Ears perking up, he waggled his behind and then dove at it, intent at beating his sister to the meal.

"Thank you, sir." Sidd snorted, with a glance down at them, "I'm sure they appreciate it." He stared hard down at them, silently trying to tell them that they should be thanking the king for his offer. It was entirely ignored by Mykelti.

Aislin just sighed as she watched another of her cubs meander after her brother. Her tail curled around the remaining cub with her, still nestled against her stomach. At least this was a small litter. Smaller than her last, anyway. The previous one had been all over the place and constantly running off to do their own thing. Plus, she wasn't too worried about this fledgling pride keeping her cubs from misbehaving.

With that in mind, the lioness dropped her head down to her paws and continued to watch as one of the Domans made their way over to her two cubs.

Maeve grinned at her brother "Because it was fun." She squeaked as he play tackled her back and then she turned her attention to the king and the meat. She wasn't really hungry at the moment so she let her brother take the food. Without trying to steal it from him. "Hi, I'm Maeve." She said in a cheerful tone to the big lion.

-------------------------

Kshitji smiled and nodded at Tiel who looked over in his direction, he decided not to rush over to her since she wanted him to meet other members of the pride to see if he wanted to get to know another cheetah female. He doubted that would be the case since he already was very affectionate towards Tiel and doubted his affections would wander to someone else.

Despite the somber air of the festival, and the knowledge that his own family was among those lost, Ichihatsu was glad to see old and new faces alike. It meant the pride would have a chance to rebuild and grow prosperous once more. He took a deep breath, thanking the kami for sparing his own life, and turned his attention to the feast provided and the King interacting with some of the newer faces. Were they among those staying? Or were they just passing through? Either way, it was a promising start. A King with a kind heart was far better than a King with a hard one. Hien would fill the pawprints left by his father well.

Noticing the mother of the cubs, he nodded his head to her. "If you're hungry, there is much to go around."

Ears flicking up, Aislin eyed the male that had spoken. Was he speaking to her? She guessed so, considering he was looking right at her. Well, luckily for him, she was in a tolerable mood at the moment, though perhaps that had to do with having two of her cubs distracted.

"Perhaps in a minute. For now, I'm going to enjoy the silence," she said with a pointed look at her two wayward cubs.

The lioness glanced back at him, "This is a rather..." What was the word? She probably shouldn't outright say it was depressing. "... somber festival, isn't it?" She glanced away, "I'm not sure I'd call it a festival, in that regard." Yes, she could understand the need or want for it, but it certainly brought down the mood.

Lifa managed the baskets at the space she occupied, the pregnant lionmess watching the area silently as she relaxed, occasionally taking in the other going ons.

Many creatures had never seen a festival such as Doma, as this, but while needed it was meant foir the living too, not simplythe dead, and she flicked her ears as the currently loine kojin approached, carrying hollowed wood before quietly collecting peices of food -- while she kept to the peices less likely to be eaten, some choice peices remained claimed, just enough to seem polite, and Lifa settled to watch the lioness.

Yangu was an old Doman, born from good stock to the pride and one whom had felt the pull of the gods, and now, she did her duty proudly, serving her kami with grace before looking to her king, then Lifa.

Hien, for his part, was trusting the cubs to decide how to manage food, but did not seem inclined to run, instead oiffering the creatures by them a warm smile and a bow of his head, without daring interrupt. Instead, he lowered himself to the cubs' level, the greetings given, and pawed at the young lady gently.

"Well if you'd like a playmate while your brother eats, maybe a bit of an older playmate will suffice, mm?" Then... He winked. "You may even enjoy some games. Or perhaps we might catch lightening bugs together?"

Lifas watched her brother, and her ears flicked. More glowbugs? The scamp, was trying to help turn things more positive. Well... Well... Fine! Life chuckled, nodding to Yangu.

"Bring the offering to the deceased." Lifa said softly. "Cast it in the river where they'll eat in peace. Away from all of us noisy living." Lifa said, giggling. Yangu smiled, nodding.

"It will keep them from trying to bring the cubs too. I am sure Lord Kaien's spirit will help protect them, but, I also know so many perished who suffered."

To that, Lifa nodded, then exhaled a breath she unintentionally held.

"Do youhave the tokens of Lord Kaien?" She asked, voice lowering. Yangu nodded, and Lifa motioned.

"Fetch the dyes. Perhaps it fitting that his ascension to the kami be respected and the proper anointment be applied for marking his remains in his shrine."

Yangu blinked, and nodded, moving off as silently as she had come, and Lifa resumed overlooking things. Soon. Soon she would make sure the festival was a little less dour, if not much.

Maeve grinned and was so excited about the idea of hunting glow bugs, she wanted to do it now but she heard it wasn't time right now they had to honor the fallen and that was a good thing. She didn't quite understand everything that was going on but she did understand that there were times to be quiet and there were times to be loud and have fun. Maeve looked at the female lioness who was directing the offerings. She was curious about her pregnant belly and wondered what the cubs inside would be like.

-----------------------

Kshitji watched everything going on he also watched Tiel she meant the world to him and his thoughts were heavy as he thought of her request to him. It certainly wouldn't be easy. He would try for her sake but he could not and would not give his heart to a female he didn't love. Her idea of proving he loved her by trying with someone else was silly in his eyes but there was little he could do if he couldn't prove his love in words.

The maned wolf watched as Myk's sister introduced herself. At least she wasn't trying to fight for the food... and had more manners than her brother. Nodding back to her, he continued, "I'm Sidd'hartha."

As Hien offered to play with the young girl, Sidd moved his attention down to Mykelti, nudging his side. "Shouldn't you introduce yourself too?" Normally Mykelti was as curious as a jackal, poking his nose into as much as he could, but he supposed that it was rare to get a meal all to himself.

Still, that didn't excuse his lack of politeness. The cub had a lot to learn.

So into his munching, Myk almost didn't notice Sidd addressing him, but the paw pushing against him was hard to ignore. With a sidelong glance up at him, he debated just going back to his meal, but the topic of lightening bugs made his ears stand up. That sounded fun, but... he was hungry, and this was an opportunity to eat without one of his siblings bothering him.

With that in mind, he mumbled out a 'hello', and then closed his eyes to continue munching. He'd have time to participate later, he was sure. Besides, he was keeping an eye up at everything too, in case he wanted to drop his meal and run in to play.

---------------

Tiel sighed as she watched some of the festivities unfold, grinning as a few cubs were cajoled into participating. At the very least, this would make for a day to remember, and hopefully one that would become a fun and healthy tradition. Tilting her head to the side, she debated her options now. With everyone here, it was sort of tempting to go out and patrol. (you never could be too cautious, after all) But then, she wanted to see how things would go.

So, settling herself down into a laying position, she cross her paws and continued to observe.

She looked at her brother and then she giggled and got distracted from all the adult stuff when she started seeing glowing things appearing around them. She turned and tried to pounce once only to have it disappear into thin air. Well, that was weird. Had she missed? She spotted another one so she ran towards it and pounced again and once again the glowing orb of light disappeared. She flopped onto her tummy confused. "Umm.. what the.." She said out of breath. She looked to Sidd'hartha and her brother. Then she got up and waved her tail in the air considering trying again she was a tenacious cub.

Hien smiled at the antics of the cubs. Chasing the fireflieswas a good reminder of innocence, of youth, and of hope. While not the hsappiest occasion, it did bring the pride together -- and in a time they needed the togetherness.

The lightening buhs were beginning to wake, and that drew Hien to his sister, sitting at her side as he looked to Yangu, and nodded, slowly, and deliberately before speaking.

"For those whom we have lost, for those whom we have as but spirits, as the unseen Kami, may these lights guide you to the next life, into peace and joy.

Yangu knew the words, and drew to the baskets, the Kojin reaching and removing the basket, at last sharing the contents. Hours of hunting across two days paid off, as a large number of fire flies pooled into the air in a stream of lights, whirling, spinning, and escaping their wovben prison as they rushed for the sky, disappearing above them, as if a sigh.

A promise to their ancestors that life went on, and so below, Doma remembered Her lost sons, and below, Doma would continue on.

(( OH GODS, that ran far too long -- I'm so sorry, I had some eye health problems that kept keeping me from being on top of this, but, I handled it and now the part people are excite for!

Because Midnight won this boyu's brother, I kind of narrowed it down to the two people who could be eligible, whoops. XD

But this was an IC success, so festivals like this may occur again. Different. Better. Maybe more treats for cubs! Maybe Hien being less dor-- oh who are we kidding.
