Echo stretched her arms above her head, letting out a yawn as night started to fade. The sky had started turning, hints of pink peeking along the skyline. Having shrugged off the fact that it was a school night, she needed the time to think about some things. Plus, it was a repeat lesson anyway.
She smiled leaning against a railing as she overlooked the empty skate park that she often visited as a civilian, knowing she wouldn't have the energy to go in the afternoon. Echo looked up again, watching as the sky slowly turned into something like a water color painting before her eyes. Figuring she would wait it out before powering down to head out for breakfast.

1... 2... 3... 4... This made 5 days in a row without sleep. A personal record. The previous day had been, by far, the worst. Any source of light made her head want to explode. She hadn't been able to attend school that day, of course. When her parents spoke to her, it was like they were speaking another language. Something about seeing Dr. Montag or something... Noctua couldn't have made it out. Did he even make house calls? Because there was no way she was leaving the house in the condition she was in. Her mother had to draw all the curtains. Any sound was muffled by the ear muffs she had to wear. Handfuls of aspirin did nothing to quell the storm in her head...
But this seemed easier. Laying on a bench beside skating well, Noctua had found something like peace. Somewhere in the night, the headaches had died down to a low, tolerable throb. The shadows still seethed around her, taking form just long enough for her to take notice before vanishing into the night. Whispers in her ears muttering nonsense that she wasn't even going to try and understand. It didn't matter... the white noise was soothing, even if someone from the shadows did unleashed a blood-rending scream now and again that sent Noctua sitting bolt upright.
In her hands rested a small butterfly knife, a gift from her father for her graduation. It's a big world out there, Ellie, and you've got to be able to defend yourself. Her mother and disapproved of course, but in her quiet way. But it had been a nice way to keep her hands occupied. Open and closed. Open and closed. She even dared a few of the tricks that her father had taught her as she watched the sky go from black velvet to pink satin.
Another truly soul-ripping scream from the ether caused Noctua's heart to stop, her breath to choke her, and her body to clench, suddenly erect. Had she mirrored the sound this time? She pressed a hand to her throat and wondered why else would it feel so suddenly raw? This had to have come from somewhere... the sleepless senshi cast bright blue eyes around for the corporeal source of the screech. When her eyes finally rested on what she believed to be the epicenter, she physically recoiled.
How had she not felt her coming? The sleeplessness must have dulled her senses... making Noctua all the more suspectable to the White Moon's tricks... she scrambled to her feet with all the gracelessness of a shambling corpse. Her vision blurred and darkened with the sudden motion, her knees threatened to give way. She needed to bide some time. She needed something to allow her to gather herself, her limbs, her mind.
The shadows around her took form again and moved her lips, coaxing her voice from her throat for her.
"Noctua Feverish Nights."
Noctua closes her eyes and calls the name of her attack. Upon opening them, she will lock eyes with one person and they will be immediately subject to the attack. For the next ten seconds the victim will feel like they haven't slept well for the past few nights. They will feel sluggish, irritable, and confused. Noctua can use this attack 3 times in a battle if she pushes herself, but mostly she keeps it to twice. It's useful mostly for getting away or getting in a sucker punch if she needs to.
Note: She needs to lock BOTH eyes with her opponent. So if someone has a non functioning eye for whatever reason, the attack will not work. Alternately, if Noctua's eyes are out of commission due to whatever reason, be it darkness or injury, the attack will not work. If the environment is too dark to see anyone's eyes, the attack will fail as well.
Echo was lost in thought, already planning for the coming day and even the next, knowing there was a friend she wanted to bug. She couldn't help but laugh to herself at the thoughts of what he'd want to do. As it would be their first time really hanging out, it made her nervous too. That small tingle suddenly turned into a gut wrenching feeling as someone screamed out. Ripping her from her thoughts, Echo scanned the area quickly before spotting what she figured the source was. A young girl on a near-by bench.
Her stomach dropped as she quickly realized the girl was also powered, her eyes drawing quick and hard to the dark spider-ing pit on the girl's chest. s**t. Watching as the girl tried to get her bearings, she was honestly in shock, surprised she didn't feel her sooner. Did she push herself too hard? She shouldn't have stayed out this late. Should she run? Should she try to talk to the Senshi? Echo's mouth opened to speak as she ran through her thoughts but was instead met with the other girl's voice.
Echo's eyes snapped upward to met the other girl's as she tried to quickly send an attack back, "Tsk!" The sound came loud and sharp from Echo's mouth as she swung her arm, watching as about eight pieces were flung...and totally missed. Her eyes blurred a bit as she stumbled backward, using the arm she attacked with to grip the railing she was leaning against just shortly before all this and keep herself from falling. Confused and drained, Echo sunk as she suddenly felt so helpless. "Wh-What did you do??"

Paper was suddenly flying by Noctua, and it was all she could do to keep herself upright. Disorienting was an understatement. The haze already surrounding her mind from not sleeping was exacerbated by the fact that sheets of paper whizzed by her head. Things were already moving too quickly, her brain was lagging years behind it felt like. What was the ground doing beneath her? Had she fallen? The earth was hard beneath her knees and she couldn't make herself get up.
Before her, the senshi who had presumably sent the pages after her was stumbling. Falling. It was enough of a victory to drag Noctua from her knees, however weak they may have been.
The senshi's question went unanswered. Acting so innocent after choosing to scream and startle an unsuspecting opponent instead of just attacking -- another white moon trick to throw someone off of their guard before attacking. There was no honor in that court. No honor amongst fools. And so if the senshi wouldn't show Noctua basic respect... why should Noctua to the same?
The girl knelt at Noctua's feet then, struggling with the magic that wrapped itself around her mind. But the magic would wear off an awareness would return to her faculties and rescue her. Noctua would not have that luxury... and that infuriated her even further.
Something glittered out of the corner of her eye. A broken bottle. She picked it up in bone-slender fingers and held it lightly, watching it bob in her hands. The first thing to go would be the senshi's hair. Why? Why not. A bit of fear the same way she had so frightened Noctua before she bothered to attack.
The cut was not clean, and it did not feel painless. Noctua had pulled the handful as tight as she could and felt through the glass as each strand broke and split. Between the feeling and the sound, it was almost enough to make up for the underhandedness of the fight to begin with.
Almost.
Noctua dropped the handful of cut hair in front of the younger senshi, her hands shaking from the force of her actions. Already running on so little, she had expended so much. She was breathing too hard.
"If I ever see you again... it won't be your hair that I cut."

Oh my god I am so sorry, this never made it into Noc's journal for some reason! We can wrap it within the next few posts.
Echo was overwhelmed with panic as the glit off of the broke bottle caught her eye, watching as the other girl toyed with the bottle. She wanted to scream, to run, anything that would keep that bottle from tearing into her flesh. At least that's the worst she thought it would end to. She gripped at the railing, trying to force herself up but her muscles refused to listen. Echo wondered if trying to roll away would work. She could fling herself away until the magic wore off- Of course she didn't have that time as the other girl seemed to suddenly be pulling at her hair, letting out sounds of pain as she tried to gather the strength to paw off the other Senshi. Sadly her arms were nothing but noodles in that moment. In that moment she could have sworen the sound of her hair ripping and breaking was actually her heart. Her whole civilian life's goal suddenly ruined in a matter of second. Echo's stomach turned as she watched hair hair fall from the other girl's hand like sand in an hourglass. Was this real? Maybe it was part of the girls magic tricking her? Her energy was starting to return right? Get up then. Echo's eyes finally looked back up as the girl talked. She wanted so badly to just...tackle her to the ground. Surely that slim, boney, figure couldn't put up much of a fight right? But she was thrown off as her eye got blury again. Her faced flushed and she suddenly felt tears streaking down her face. "n-no.." Feeling defeated Echo slumped back down, suddenly balling.
