As luck would have it...

For him, at least, not so much the terrified civilian that was running as fast as she humanly could away from the giant, spider looking thing that was bearing down in her with mandibles chittering and fans dripping. Jack didn't know what it was, or where it had come from, but there wasn't much room for curiosity with her lungs burning and panic bubbling up as she heard the rustle of multiple legs behind her.

It'd all started in the park. She'd been there trying to get a few nice shots of the sunset through the trees, and then stuck around a little longer to take advantage of the nice weather with a walk around the paths.

From seemingly no where the creature had emerged from the dark shadows of the trees, hissing softly before it made a chilling, almost metallic scream and lingered at her.

Now, long minutes later, Jack could feel her legs burning, her chest tight and lungs hurting. She couldn't keep this pace for much longer. She didn't know what to do!

And then the toe of her boot caught on a bit of uneven pavement and she was airborne for half a second before creasing painfully against the ground. Body curling around the camera she'd been catching to protect it from the impact, leaving arms and legs painfully exposed.

A voice in the dark, the flashing white and green and yellow as a man appeared from the treeline and leapt down between Jack and the monster, shouting. She didn't hear what he said, or didn't comprehend it, but from 5he point or impact the ground rippled. She could feel tremors as she struggled back to her feet and failed, hands still full of her camera.

Then she was being scooped up against into strong arms, cradled against a muscular chest, and there was a split second where Jack had to wonder if she'd hit her head, because she didn't recall stepping into an action hero movie.

He was talking, explaining what was happening, and it was so incredibly unusual she had a hard time taking it all in. This city was weird, she knew that, but this was an entirely new level, she thought. "O-okay." Three part that really sank in was him saying he was there to save her, and that was where her immediate concerns lay.

"Who are you?" It was puzzled, but certainly not ungrateful. He was carrying her, sprinting, as if she weighed nothing.

Sailor? She frowned at the phrasing, but there really wasn't much time to dwell over it. Whatever the man had done had slowed the giant spider down, but as she glanced around his arm she could see long, sharp legs flailing as it struggled to right itself again. At this distance she could really take in the scoop of the thing, the size of it, and what it could have done if it'd managed to catch her. Jack paled as she tore her gaze away from it and looked back up at the man.

"Jack, I'm Jack." Did she have somewhere he could take her..? The question had her blinking thoughtfully. She'd been to this park any number of times, but she didn't live that close, and she really didn't know the area well beyond a few places she'd stopped in for a meal.

She shook her head, then answered allowed as she realized she probably didn't have his full and undivided attention. Not with the monster likely to tear after them at any second. "No, sorry. I'm not that familiar with this area."

A howl cut through the evening air that caused the hairs to stand up on the back of Jack's neck, and she flinched in his arms. "You can kill it?" She sounded a little skeptical, and why not? The spider monster was huge.

There was absolutely nothing normal about any of this, and Jack's response to it was to cling to the man who'd saved him, hands white knuckle tight in the layers of his shirt and vest. Frightened, of course, but she seemed to be handling things rather well until they were dropping straight down into the belly of some empty building. Jack shrieked as he jumped, clinging, if possible, even tighter before he was landing smoothly on the dusty floor.

A strong hand came up to cover her mouth, and Jack blinked, head turning to look up at the walls surrounding them as she heard the spider scrambling along the outside of the building. He set her gently on her feet, and there was a small pause before she was able to loosen her fingers enough to let him go, nodding in understanding as he slipped his jacket off to drape it over her shoulders.

Sandaled feet retreated a couple of steps as he wrenched a pipe free from the wall, giving him room enough to wield. "Be careful, please." He'd saved her so she didn't want to see him get hurt, but she also didn't think she'd make it out of there alive if anything happened to the brave young man standing between her and danger.

Long, disgusting legs shot through the wall and Jack pressed hands to her mouth to keep from screaming allowed again. Frozen in place, even as Altias brought the pipe up to wield it like a club against the slashing limbs.

It wasn't like anything she'd ever seen before. Movies, videogames, nothing could really prepare you for what an actual fight looked like, and certainly not one with some mutated spider abomination from hell. Jack stood well back from the flayling legs with a look of ill horror in dark features and a hand coming her mouth as if that was the only think that kept her from screaming.

When it was over, the spider disintegrating into dust and floating away on the breeze, there was only Altias and his pipe, out of breath and hurt. He put on a show to make her feel better, to reassure her that he was fine, but she could see the spread of crimson against his shirt.

She rushed forward as he took a knee, hands on his shoulders to offer support. "Oh my God, you're hurt!" She wanted to help him, but she didn't really know how. "How bad is it? Do we need to get you to a hospital?"

She seemed entirely taken aback by the 8dea of him wanting to avoid getting stitched up when it looked, at least to her, as though he needed it. "Are...are you sure?" Maybe she'd heard him wrong, or misunderstood. Maybe he'd misspoken?

"I think maybe they'll notice if you're bleeding all over." Despite cheerful reassurance, she seemed less than convinced. Not like she could have stopped him from leaving if he wanted to go, but she was genuinely worried over his well being.

And why not? He'd saved her life.

"O-oh!" He was starting to wobble unsteadily, and Jack hastened to rearrange her grip on his arms to keep him from all out collapsing at her feet as he sagged.

The shift from senshi to civilian was an alarming one, and if he still had enough awareness he'd feel her jump at his side as his clothing suddenly change from the unusual to the much more mundane. Jack didn't know anything about senshi, this being the first she'd met, but she didn't think that was a good thing.


When he mentioned calling a friend she reached around with her free hand to try to grope for the phone that'd somehow managed to stay in her pocket. "Yeah, I think so. Do-do you need a phone?" She still felt like calling 9-1-1 was a better idea, but getting some kind of help was better than getting none. Maybe this friend could talk him into going to the hospital.

"Is there anything I can do?"
