Gevaudan sat on the ledge of a bank, a decorative curl of cement jutting out between his legs that accented every so often on the edge of the roof. tapping his hands against it, he looked out as streetlights change with no traffic. Every once in a while he heard a motorcycle peel out or a roar of a distance car calling out from deep in the city.
It was cool and quiet and he placed his hands crossed atop the cornice and rested his head, looking out.

The time he went out was becoming a bit more scarce, and far between, it wasn't that he meant for it to happen but it did. Real life took the steering wheel and certain things, powered things, took the backseat...or at least the passenger seat. He didn't think his ancestor would m ind, he had seemed understanding when they'd last spoken. There was no guilt or shame in it, he couldn't let a war control and dictate his life. By the time it was over, if it was over in this life time, how much of his life would have been formed by it? How much could he form it into what he'd want by then?
He had to have a balance and he was working, once again, on that. Adding new things to civilian life, like children, sort of made rebalancing a thing.
Tonight he was out on his own, Terry at home helping with homework, so he could stretch his legs and get some time out of the apartment they shared with the twins and his elder cousin. It was a need to have some time to himself, to drop his civilian life for a little while and embrace the other side of his life, which had brought him out tonight. It was the aura of someone else, another knight, which had him headed towards the signature, dark eyes looking around for the owner of the aura. No doubt they'd already sensed him, being that they were a knight. But where were they?

He felt the knight. Felt there signature, and turned to look out before slowly rising up from his perch and moving alongside the edge of the building before jumping down atop a generator and down to another roof. It was a step down to another and from there he moved alongside the roof closer to them.
Knights were generally good-natured to other knights and willing to give updates on anything that was happening which was what the out-of-the-loop knight needed.
Drawing closer, he called out, seeing the back of their uniform as he drew closer to the roof they were on. "Hello." He called out.

Rolling his shoulders, letting some of the tension which remained from earlier in the day, if anyone said being a parent was easy they were lying, and turned as he heard a voice call out. It was a single word but it had his attention, like a moth to a flame. "Evening." The word already passing his lip before he even saw who it was.
"Gévaudan." It had been a long time since he'd seen the other, he didn't think he'd ever see him again honestly. He felt like the other was more a solo sort of person, unless he was with his partner. Or maybe the other knight was more a civilian now. It had felt like that when he'd met the other the few times in the past, he wondered if that was the case.
"You've been well?" He questioned, his dark hair brushed from his face as he glanced the other over. He seemed unchanged, nothing out of the ordinary, that was good.

He was surprised, startled even, when he saw it was Venice that turned around to him. Shock and mingled guilt at not seeing him and leaving the group to train itself twisted in him and he went still for a moment as he forced a smile.
"Hello. It's...been a long time. I'm good. Good. Uh...how about you?"

"I've been good as well." He'd been doing really well in fact, his civilian life was going better than he'd thought it ever could. Sometimes, though rare, he did wonder just where he'd be if he hadn't moved here or if he'd never met Terry. He figured those were normal things to ponder, they seemed like the normal sort of thing to wonder about, and he knew that he wouldn't be as happy as he was now. He just...wouldn't know it.
"Have you...ummm...been around?" And he'd just missed it and not seen the other, which was entirely possible, or had the other been focusing on his civilian life; not that he could blame him. Civilian life was important, he knew that, he was simply curious. Had the other missed all the odd things going on in this city as well as all the events which had been happening?

this felt awkward. All of this felt awkward. He had made promises to train a team. To be there Venice. Now they were standing here with months of time between them with the reality they had't kept in touch, and he was to blame for that.
"A....a little bit. Not..that much. Things kinda ...came up. Was told I should focus on...the other side of things." His other life.
"Have you been okay - ya know, without me being around? Have the others been okay? Nothing....bad happened, did it?"

"Civilian life? It is important, as much or more than this." Making a vague gesture to demonstrate he meant this whole war, powered life. "It's good you are working on it." Though maybe the other would be entering powered life again? He didn't ask though, it was ok either way.
"I've been ok, real life as well. Half and half." Holding up a hand to flash the proof that real life had been good for him, so far. "I don't know about the others. No one has talked or seen each other since the last time." Since the last time the other had been with them. Nothing had kept any of them together and everyone drifted....he hadn't seen any of them anywhere or heard of any. He didn't even know if any of them powered up at this point.
"In general things are...dangerous as usual. Holidays are unsafe, I heard mirrors sucked people in...and tried to kill them or something. Other things as well." All normal for this city, not normal for anywhere else however.

"Some believe that, but civilian life is a luxury that can't and won't exist unless we make measures to fight for it." But he didn't want to get into a debate with Venice. He knew he was being kind.
"Oh...Congratulations. It seems you were busy. Real life should take focus during marriages....or proposals?" He wasn't sure which.
The talk of mirrors had his focus though. "The dark moon court? What happened with mirrors? Are there people missing?"

While he agreed with some of what the other said Venice didn't believe it all, civilian life certainly wouldn't exist if they didn't fight for it though.
"Marriage...and real life is still busy, it always will be. But as you said - it has to be fought for or we lose it." And he wasn't about to let what he had be taken away from him, not without a fight anyway. He had gained too much, and not all of it easily either.
"No one is missing now but not too far back people did go missing for about a week. Even further back there were wraiths, big ones, lose in the city. I wasn't there for either things but I had heard about them. I was around to see a big skeletal bird youma,. and smaller ones, take out the cities power and attack though." And the holidays were a mess and dangerous...what was the next holiday coming up anyway?
He had a feeling the big ones were not safe and something to keep his kids indoors during, he wasn't going to put them at risk. They were both new to the country and the city and he wasn't going to let them get a bad impression of things and be scared. He'd keep them safe...and indoors.

A big bird wraith.
He could feel his heart hammering but calmed it, knowing it wasn't a youma. Knowing SHE was gone. Knowing it wasn't what he thought it could be.
"I missed a lot then. I regret staying away." He admitted, looking over at him. "I suppose with marriage you will be a little more cautious when fighting these days?"

"You did...the holidays have been a mess also - unsafe. But no one knows what is behind it." So there was nothing to fight in order to stop it, there was also no idea what would happen. It was just known that the holiday season, starting with Halloween, was unsafe at this point. Something, a lot of things in fact, would happen.
"I haven't been any more cautious...I do keep my eyes on my partner though." More than he had before, because he would always have his eyes on the other. "With children though I'll be more cautious...as a civilian and powered." He had more reason now. He knew Terry, as a knight, could hold his own in most fights and he himself could handle himself well enough. So he wasn't as cautious as some might be....knowing it was a risk that his partner understood and took also.
"Will you be around more?" Wondering, after the other had mentioned his regret at staying away. Would he see the other Ganymede knight more often? He doubted, even if the other was around more, that they could form a group like once had been tried. Everyone he felt was too scattered. If a group was ever formed, one which he and Terry were apart of, it wouldn't be a group of knights with their planet all in common. He didn't think that would ever happen.

Family. Loved ones. Children.
He kept hearing it. The life outside of patrolling. The motivations to fight - but ti was also holding them from going all out. They didn't want to leave those people with no one to love and help them. They would fight but even he could see there would be a limit. There would be a moment to hesitate when they thought of those they loved.
Gevaudan crossed his arms lightly, feeling that Venice was slipping away.
"Yeah....I'm back again. I won't try leaving again. There isn't any point with me now." This life was what he had. It was what he remembered. It was what he lived for.
What other purpose was there.

"There isn't any point now? You make it sound like you've lost something big...something recent?" He asked, unsure if he could be poking at what could be some sort of bad area. The other would at least be around though; and that was good.
"Erebus is a knight now...transcended. He's safe from being corrupted and he's stronger in a battle now." Though he wasn't so strong against being bitten by a white little bunny, he'd never forget the worry he'd had for his partner after he'd been bitten by a tiny rabbit. Those things had come from who knows where and had just seemed to vanish...
"You should be aware that once fall hits...be careful of everything. Since you're back you should watch...it's unsafe. Fall and winter - very unsafe."

"No. It was never that big. It...just felt pointless. It's not a big deal. It's nothing." He said, waving it off to avoid the thought of it entirely. He didn't like thinking about Toren. He didn't like thinking about the person outside of his uniform. Toren was unsure, messy, had moments where he felt deja vu and then felt frightened at the reminder it might be a memory he lost. Toren was afraid of too much.
"Transcended? I thought anything could be corrupted given enough intent and power behind it." He said.
He smiled at the warning. "Every season. Every moment. Every time is unsafe. I watch my back all the time. I don't want a repeat of my past mistakes to happen."
