Ezra hadn't been to this apartment in a very long time. Still, he hadn't forgotten the directions to it, or the time spent there. It felt a little weird, taking a walk like this while not powered up, but then again, what business did anyone have being powered up during the day? He stood in front of Anxo's apartment door for a few minutes before he did anything. He'd be lying if he said he wasn't nervous about what was about to happen. He would understand if Anxo was angry at him for getting too absorbed in his own life and totally disappearing, but he still hoped that wasn't the case. Anxo was a good friend all around who put up with a lot of Younger Ezra's dumb crap, and Ezra hoped that everything was alright for him as well. Ezra figured he probably deserved any angry reactions he got. Sucking in a breath, he knocked on Anxo's apartment door a few times, and waited to see what happened.

Perhaps for the first time in forever Anxo was in his home alone. It seemed these days he was hardly ever alone, and he certainly wasn't complaining about it. Part of him had hoped by now he and Arian would have moved in together, that itch to be with him all the time slowly taking ahold of him more and more, but he wouldn't push it. It took so long for them to get to the point where they would admit they were in love, and he would take as long as it needed to reassure Arian that he wasn't going to leave him.
Just the very thought of leaving Arian for any reason made his heart ache...
Alas! This wasn't the time to give into such sadness! While this old apartment had some good and bad memories associated with it, it was time to leave. He was only moving back home now that school was over to help with the shop, and luckily it wasn't too far away... And he didn't own much, so it only took a few hours to get everything squared away.
At this point, he was simply standing at the kitchen, grabbing a bottle of water before he heard a knock on the door. Strange... He wasn't expecting his dad for another two hours to come with the truck to get his things. The land lord maybe? He was supposed to return the key this evening...
A hop here, a roll there, and he was finally at the door, swinging it open with a smile as he always did.
And yet... It faded... Not to a frown or anger, but just disbelief. Was this... After all this time, was it really...?
"Ezra...? I uh... Hello... W-what are you doing here..?" Anxo's tone wasn't scolding or accusatory, just shocked, eyes wide and fingers gripping on to the frame of the door. "Oh, uh... Did you want to come in? I'm in the process of moving, but there's still places to sit and... Uh... you know..."

"Hi, Anxo." Ezra smiled, though it was a bit feeble. Seeing Anxo so shocked made him feel a bit rotten, but really, what did he expect? "I just wanted to check in on you. I know it's been a while, but..." He trailed off. But nothing. He really had no excuse. He realized that Anxo said something particular, though... "You're moving? Where to? I mean, not to be nosy. Just wondering. I guess I have decent timing for once, then." Anxo leaving Destiny City made sense. Ezra never got the impression that he was game for all the city's wacky happenings, and he was probably best suited to somewhere more peaceful. Of course, that was an assumption; maybe he was just relocating to somewhere in the city. Hopefully he'd tell him; Ezra looked past Anxo to the packed-up apartment. "I wouldn't mind coming in, if you'd be willing to have me." A bit dramatic, but he meant it.

"Yeah, it's been a while for sure! Nearly... Two years I think...? Lose your phone or something? Hehe..." The last time he remembered seeing Ezra was... Damn, that time when he was curled up in the closet, broken, battered from his own mistakes... Back then he thought that Ezra would never leave his side, just like how Anxo made sure to be the one there for him when he was going through his own rough times.
... Sadly things didn't work out that way.
He wasn't bitter though; his soft smile was still the same as he opened the door wider for the man to let him in.
"Oh, nowhere far. I decided not to go to California for work. I found myself being more of a homebody than I thought. I'm just moving back in with my parents for a little while. They opened up a cafe not too long ago, with arts and crafts and stuff, and they wanted me to help since I'm out of school. It's actually not too far from here, only a few train stops north." There was no harm in telling Ezra this information, right? His heart couldn't help but feel like it was pointless though, the other would just forget and take another two years to show up before him again... Ah well...
"How have you been? What have you been up to? Uhh... Want a soda or something?"

Ezra shook his head, the shame spreading across his face. "I wish it was that simple." He felt a million layers of guilt fall down and crush him. Why had he been such a self-absorbed b*****d for all that time? It was going to be hard to say it out loud, but when the time was right, he was going to come out with it. Probably soon. When Anxo revealed his destination, he nodded, though he still didn't have it in him to make eye contact. "I'm glad. Good to hear you're not going too far away. Sounds like you've got things figured out for the time being." Slowly, he stepped past Anxo into the apartment, his head down. "I've been..." He was trying hard to look normal, to keep his composure, but his building emotions struggled under the lid he was trying to trap them with. Eventually, the pressure became too much, and it all came out at once in some short, sharp pained noise. "I've been a selfish, self-absorbed b*****d. I got so pulled into myself and my own issues that I let everything else slide by. I even considered running away from all my problems." That meant corruption, but he wasn't going to go into that detail. He was trying hard not to let the tears fall, but his vision was already blurring and his face was tensing up. He didn't deserve self-indulgent sobbing right now, even as the tears threatened to run down his face. "I'm sorry I left you behind. I know it means absolutely nothing, but I'm..." One tear escaped anyway, and next thing he knew, a sob broke loose too. "I'm sorry!"

"Yeah.. It's nice. pieces falling into place, knowing where you want to go, or what you want to do. It's really comforting in a way." Sure, he still had doubts every now and then, but he wasn't about to let them bother him. He owed that to not only himself, but to Arian as well.
While he had been initially heading towards the fridge, he paused when he heard the apology, then just let Ezra talk, to him. Apologies and excuses... Well, he wasn't sure what he expected but it could have been worse, much worse. And though he was a little bitter at Ezra over all of this, his heart still felt for him in a way and wouldn't let him just ignore that pain. A few steps later, he was there before the other man, pulling him into a hug that felt familiar and foreign at the same time... Just how much had they changed?
"I can't say that it's okay, Ezra... I needed you and you just vanished... It's like you forgot I was your friend, and that I wanted to be there for you for your hurt, just like you were for me... But Hey, you're here now, and while things can't be exactly the same... I'd still like to be your friend."
