Be less curious about people and more curious about ideas
Criminology is the scientific study of crime, including its causes, responses by law enforcement, and methods of prevention. It is a sub-group of sociology, which is the scientific study of social behavior. There are many fields of study that are used in the field of criminology, including biology, statistics, psychology, psychiatry, economics, and anthropology.
Just as criminology is a sub-group of sociology, criminology itself has several sub-groups, including:
Penology: the study of prisons and prison systems Biocriminology: the study of the biological basis of criminal behavior Feminist criminology: the study of women and crime Criminalistics: the study of crime detection

Kimberly-Anne ran from her Television, Screen, and Media class in Walt Disney Hall to Marie Curie Hall just so she could meet up with Kolya and Jace, who she missed since the morning. She wished they'd shared more than one class, but she was happy to see them in class and not just outside of class. She bumped into Kolya first and the two began talking. Their conversation drew the attention of an African-American boy who introduced himself as Matthias Saint Loe. "I'm Kimberly-Anne Willits. This is my friend, Kolya Innokenty. Nice to meet you, Matthias," she grinned. She shook his hand and looked around to see if Jace was going to make it on time.
Kolya was happy to see Kimberly again, because his classes had been so boring without her or Jace around. He was happy to meet someone new, although Kolya didn't understand why he was interested in a conversation about unsolved murders. He nodded when Kimberly introduced him and also looked for Jace. "Class should be a lot of fun. Both the major and minor are taught by detectives. Mister Kendrick is currently a detective in a nearby town who is on leave for an injury healing, and our teacher, Mister Josephson, he's a retired homicide detective," he admitted.
Matthias was interested in a conversation about unsolved murders being discussed by two students so he walked over. He introduced himself and smiled as the girl, Kimberly, did so for her and her friend. When Kolya mentioned the teachers, he was ecstatic. "That means we will get so much good information! I can't wait!" he laughed. He looked around to see other students collecting in the hallway, chatting about macabre or dark things. Truth be told, he was only taking this class to benefit his Police Science minor. He had the option for Justice but it didn't seem fitting enough.
#A2A2D0 // "" #12048F Brycin walked over and looked around for a familiar face. So far, no one was there that he knew. The doors had just opened and students swarmed into the area. He waited amongst a small group of students for the line to die down before entering in. The classroom had a variety of tables in groups of 7, each with a monitor in front of it to allow students from every area to see what the teacher was putting up. He sat down with the other group from before and smiled. "𝓜𝔂 𝓷𝓪𝓶𝓮 𝓲𝓼 𝓑𝓻𝔂𝓬𝓲𝓷 𝓒𝓱𝓪𝓷𝓬𝓮 𝓣𝔂𝓵𝓮𝓻. 𝓝𝓲𝓬𝓮 𝓽𝓸 𝓶𝓮𝓮𝓽 𝔂𝓸𝓾," he said with a smile.
Jace rushed to get ready for his next class. He had to wait for the other guys to get out of the showers before he could take a quick shower and get dressed for class. He knew he wouldn't make it running so he decided to just use the shadows as he had been most of the day. He rushed as he ran through the shadows and finally came out of one of the shadows across the hall from their classroom. He had just made. He walked in a bit out of breath and his damp hair stuck to his face and covered his glasses. He brushed his hair back with his hand and looked around and smiled seeing Kolya and Kimberley then noticed Brycin and someone new sitting with them. He walked over and sat down next to Kolya not wanting to interrupt their conversation.

Kimberly jumped in her seat when Jace came in. "Hey! You look exhausted, what were you doing?" she teased lightly. She moved her brunette hair from her brown eyes and looked around. It was class of mostly males, with only two other females present. One of the girls was a girl with a buzz-cut wearing a SAW V shirt. The other was a girl with black hair and rainbow ends listening to heavy metal music before class started. Certainly not the "average girl stereotype" in the class, with Kimberly being heavily tattooed herself and in a tomboy style of clothing.
"Hey man, long time no see? How have your classes been?" Kolya asked as Jace took a seat. No one else seemed to be sitting at their table and every student had walked in, so Kolya shrugged. Five at a table meant for seven wasn't bad. He was interested to see how Mister Josephson would teach the class, since he was a retired homocide detective. He hoped there would be graphic pictures and detailed stories, not sugar-coated nonsense. Anyone here for this class would need to understand the criminal mind, and it wouldn't be easy. Kolya was prepared for it. Kolya nodded when Matthias mentioned Police Science.
Matthias smiled when Brycin introduced himself. As he was about to say his name, Jace walked in. "Greetings, I'm Matthias Saint Loe. Looking forward to see how this class helps my Police Science class. It was fun, wasn't it, Kolya?" he said, revealing a shared class between the two. He was curious to know who the person was that walked in and sat with them, since everyone else at the table seemed to know him. He seemed like a very interesting person, if looks were anything to go off of.
Jace looked at Kimberly when she jumped. That happened a lot today. "Judo. Lets just say things got out of hand" he said putting his backpack on the ground. Jace looked to Kolya and smiled. "They've been okay. How about yours?" he asked. Brycin knew that psychology got a little tense with backstories. Nursing wasnt too bad for him aside from everyone freaking out about his ability then Noah standing up for him and then the incident in Judo. He waved slightly to Brycin and then looked to Matthias when he said somethin about police science. He guessed they shared a class. "Ah sorry if I was rude. I'm Jace Connors" he said in his British accent. He used his hand to brush back his damp white hair and slicked itself back. He took off his glasses as everyone talked and cleaned the water off with his shirt rubbing his eyes the natural smoky red color around his eyes not smudging like most people would expect since they thought it was makeup.

Kimberly was about to say something to the boys as they were talking to one another when she noticed the teacher about to start class. "Afternoon, everyone. I am Mister Kenda Josephson, but you can call me Mister Joe or just Mister Kenda, whichever you prefer. Now, we will be discussing this term the variables of criminology. This includes: what a crime is and who is a criminal, the extent and location of crimes, individual explanations, and finally social explanations. These will factor into your assessment, a practice crime case using power points and group discussion. We will also discuss several types of crimes: Youth crime, Street crime, White collar crime, Crime in the home, and Cybercrime," he said.
Kimberly was recording the class audio with her phone as she wrote notes in a notebook by hand. She'd have to remember to bring her laptop with her for later classes, as it would be important down the line.
"Got out of hand? That sounds like a rather interesting story. You'll have to tell us during Free Time," Kolya stated with a small nod. If Jace didn't want to talk about it, he wouldn't pressure him, but it did seem like something that would benefit talking about. He hoped the gesture was seen the way he was intending, and not taken offensively. Suddenly, he was caught off guard by the teacher calling everyone to attention to begin class. He began taking notes as he spoke, wanting to catch every word.
"Oh, no need to apologise. It's quite alright," he said, a gentle smile crossing his lips. The teacher began to call the class into order and begin the lesson, so he glanced up. He took his laptop out of his bag and set it up, plugging it in at the centre of the table. Kimberly seemed to have the same idea, while Kolya was using pen and paper. To each their own, he thought.
Jace nodded when Matthias said it was alright and turned his attention back to Kolya when he said he would have to tell them later on when they had some free time and he nodded again. He wouldn't mind talking to Kolya about it. He just hoped the story wouldn't spread he already had mixed reactions in class. He turned his attention to the teacher when he started class and took notes. He preferred to write his notes in class then type them up later on when he had time to get them more organized and add to them.

Aeron quickly walked into the room, noticing that class was already underway. He frantically made his way to an empty seat and let out a heavy sigh. Everyone staring at him wasn't helping his anxiety. He pulled out his Macbook out of his bag and looked to those at the table. A dark-skinned boy, a pale-skinned boy with white hair and glasses, a dark-haired boy, a boy with two different-colored eyes, and a brunette-haired girl with tattoos. "Have I missed much?" he asked quietly.
#A2A2D0 // "" #12048F Brycin looked up at the newcomer to joined them at their table. He had been typing away at his laptop and shook his head. "𝓙𝓾𝓼𝓽 𝔀𝓱𝓪𝓽 𝔀𝓮 𝓪𝓻𝓮 𝓰𝓸𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓽𝓸 𝓭𝓲𝓼𝓬𝓾𝓼𝓼 𝓽𝓱𝓲𝓼 𝓽𝓮𝓻𝓶 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝔀𝓱𝓪𝓽 𝓪𝓼𝓼𝓮𝓼𝓼𝓶𝓮𝓷𝓽 𝔀𝓲𝓵𝓵 𝓫𝓮. 𝓑𝓾𝓽 𝓘 𝓱𝓪𝓿𝓮 𝓲𝓽 𝔀𝓻𝓲𝓽𝓽𝓮𝓷 𝓭𝓸𝔀𝓷, 𝓼𝓸 𝓘 𝓬𝓪𝓷 𝓰𝓲𝓿𝓮 𝓲𝓽 𝓽𝓸 𝔂𝓸𝓾. 𝓗𝓮𝔂, 𝔀𝓮𝓻𝓮𝓷'𝓽 𝔂𝓸𝓾 𝓲𝓷 2𝓷𝓭 𝓱𝓸𝓾𝓻 𝓹𝓼𝔂𝓬𝓱𝓸𝓵𝓸𝓰𝔂? Perhaps Jace had seen him and would recognise him as well?

Yet another strange kid sitting around their table, Kimberly began to wonder if their group attracted those like them. She smiled at the boy and waited until the teacher was finished to introduce everyone. He seemed to have a darkness to him like Kolya and Jace, a pleasant aura that was colder than most but nothing fearsome. She glanced over and there were some students whispering amongst themselves, unaware that she could use her Sound Manipulation to heighten her hearing and understand them. The boy was known as a trouble-maker and apparently scared someone in a previous class. She sneered at them from across the room and they stopped, aware she could hear them. "Don't mind people like them, they probably have shitty powers," she mumbled, to everyone at the table but the new boy in particular.
Kolya could sense the darkness and wondered just what it was about him that seemed....familiar. They'd never met before and he was sure they didn't share classes until now. He could sense Kimberly knew about the aura he was giving, and he could hear the whispering from the table across from them. He was used to that kind of talk with his own powers, as Jace would have been well aware, so it was nothing new. "You get used to that kind of talk around here," he mumbled.
Matthias was unsure why everyone seemed to worked up all of a sudden, but he didn't voice his uncertainty about the situation. More than likely it didn't involve him in the slightest. He kept his focus on the teacher and any new notes he needed to be taking, in case the others were distracted. In his mind, they'd make a good study group, so it was good if someone had notes down the entire time.
Jace looked up when someone hurriedly came and sat at their table. He could immediately sense the dark aura which put him at ease ironically. Jace tilted his head at Brycin's comment and couldn't remember seeing him. He would have remembered feeling this aura but maybe he was too distracted by his group. Jace related to talksince he and Kolya were always aware of people whispering and talking about them. "Yeah dont worry about it" he added as he wrote down notes .

Aeron nodded to Kolya's statement about Psychology. "Yeah, I was on the other side of the room in the back. Got roped into a group with a bunch of girls who I can't tell actually want to use the course to get careers or just had to fill their time with something. They did all the talking, I just kept out of it," he said with a quiet laugh.
He was unfazed, for the most part, by people talking behind his back. Growing up with his powers, it was almost natural to expect someone to call you a monster if you could kill a person with little effort. That and his mastery of blood manipulation was far beyond that which people had seen. Most could only control their own blood, but Aeron was able to control others like puppets. He kept his urges to do so deep down within himself, but every now and again he slipped. He tried not to alter others, not wanting to have that done to him, but it was difficult when he was agitated.
