Restlessness rarely visited the Dream Guardian of water and ice but when it did, it was a burden difficult to shake. Most nights could be spent distracted by trivial papers and doodles by elementary school students - he often offered to assist his coworkers in their grading - but with school drawing close to end for summer vacation, there was little paperwork to get through.
His girlfriend had picked up a shift the night before, then cited the current evening's agenda to be focused around one of her cats --- Akio didn't bother trying to understand, these days. His quirky girlfriend had her reasons and he wouldn't question them, just as she didn't question his disappearance on some evenings when he'd returned to Elysion to mind after his task.
Tonight... tonight it was hard to focus on dreams. It was difficult to focus on anything, which was why he'd found himself standing atop one of DC's many skyscrapers, overlooking the city below.
Maybe he'd see a familiar face among the crowd... perhaps.
Then again, sometimes dreams came true, but most of the time they simply remained dreams.

The night was quiet.
Well, no it actually wasn't.
Loud caws could be heard overhead as a person walked or maybe they were within earshot but if they heard the crowing of a raven and looked up they would see a massive bird circling overhead like a vulture. Sometimes, when it swooped low enough they could catch a glimpse of a glittering gem that jutted out from beneath the beast's feathers.
Six red eyes had chosen their target for the night, a pointy-eared man who stood atop a skyscraper.
Without warning, the bird swooped and attacked, letting out a ringing caw as he came in with his claws out poised for attack.

He was so caught up in his thoughts, he'd almost missed the little tugging in the back of his mind, the uneasy feeling that washed over him signaling that something full of negative energy had arrived on the scene. The feeling was growing stronger and stronger at an alarming rate, but blue eyes failed to see anyone down below that gave him reason to worry. He searched the streets, the hairs on the nape of his neck prickling up as his stomach churned.
Where was it coming from?
For being up so high in the sky, Seal's Eye never thought to look up until he heard the loud screech, followed by the heavy swoosh of feathers beating downwards. His eyes shot up barely in time to register the massive bird heading right for him, one arm raising itself upward protectively as the look of horror crossed his face.
Youma!
He moved to step back, but failed to be quick enough. Sharp talons came into contact with his tunic, shredding both skin and cloth with ease and causing the young man to wince, hissing between his teeth. His other hand moved out to collect his arm, eyes narrowing as he debated his next move. Teleporting would be the smartest thing to do but if a youma like this was out and about in the streets of Destiny City, who would it attack next if he left his spot?
"I don't have anything you want, beast."
Shooting it a glare, shaky fingers began to remove his gloves as he gauged the bird's size. He probably couldn't freeze the entire monster, but he might be able to ground it.
"If you're after energy, you found the wrong target."

If birds could smile, it would be likely that Koschei's beak would have curled into a sneer.
"What of wrong targets if the intention are not clear to determine what makes one a target?" Koschei asked, head tilting and all six eyes blinking in a shutter motion. A pair of eyes seemed to cut over towards the glove being tugged off and he flapped closer, beak pecking at the fingers.
Quickly the beast moved backwards and his wings were splayed outward when his head tipped back and strange echoing laughter spilled from the open beak. Soon enough the sound change to a loud summoning caw.

The bird opened its jaws and spoke, making the Dream Guardian blink in surprise. While Seal's Eye had only dealt with a few youma in his rare outings across Destiny City, none of them had spoken directly to him that weren't in humanoid form.
Whatever the beast was trying to say was more than confusing, giving Seal enough pause in his movement to give the bird ample opportunity to catch him off guard. A sharp stab to one hand had all ten fingers flying backwards, dodging future attacks from the giant bird as he was successfully stopped from freeing his hand from his glove.
"What the--"
A loud caw broke his question, the blonde man ducking as large wings spread out. It soon because clear that the wings weren't the things to be wary of -- not when dozens of small birds flocked from seemingly out of nowhere from the darkness of the wings. Blue eyes widened in alarm and the young man was ready to teleport away from the dire situation when a wayward step had him on the receiving end of both talon and beak. Caught off balance, he fell to his knees, one arm rising to shield himself as he prayed to Helios and the powers above that someone might hear the noise and come investigate.

Seal's Eye would find that Koschei's flock only seemed interested in actually detaining him. When he tried to leave the circling of birds, they would lash out at him but if he stayed more or less in place, he would be fine. Sort of.
"What's a being to do when it can't escape?" Koschei chirped, a gurgle of laughter springing from his beak as he hopped around on the edge of the rooftop.
Part of the flock seemed to part when he leaned inwards, his almost glowing red eyes peering into the darkness before his large beak was snapping at the not-senshi but not-nega.
It was the laughter that had caught her attention, then the sight of a swarm of birds and an aura she hadn't felt since....since she said good-bye to Seal's eye. With panic in her heart the eternal senshi diverted from her path and was practically racing towards massive bird and what she feared was her treasured dream prince.
It took more concentration than it should have for her to teleport to them when she realized that running wouldn't get her close enough quickly.
"Leave him alone!"

As the whirlwind of birds parted somewhat, Seal's Eye took the opportunity to rip off his glove, tossing the accessory aside and into the mass of crows. The second was soon to follow after the first, tan fingers reaching forward for the bird as it lunged in his direction. Arms felt the nips and stabs of tiny beaks as he extended them out but fingers were determined to freeze the monster's maw shut the moment he came into contact with it.
.... that is, until his concentration faltered at the sound of a shrill yell in their direction.
It couldn't be.
Could it?
His head jerked to the side, distracted by the sudden appearance of a newcomer onto the impromptu battlefield. "My L-Lady?"

Koschei took advantage of Seal's Eye's distraction and lashed out with one of his massive talons even as minor instinct told him that he needed to be backing off.
But the little girl was not his general and he did not listen to many, if any, besides the good general.
Hydra on the other hand, didn't seem to pause much once she was close enough and her hand lifted in preparation when she planted her feet. "Hydra Wave!."

Similar to Hydra Strike, she spreads her arms open and there is rumbling beneath her and a wave begins to build before her this time reaching an upwards of 10ft. When she releases the wave there is an increased pressure/force when it slams down on her opponent. The force should be enough to knock them back if not off their feet - if they are knocked off their feet the pressure should hold them down until their next post. It takes approximately 30 seconds for the wave to reach full height.
Once again, if someone is with in 7ft of her they will feel the rumbling, if hit, the person feels as though they drenched in water for at least two minutes, and the attack does not discriminate between ally or foe.
Usage: 2 Mechanics: Hydra summons the wave in one post, attacks in the next. She can be interrupted in the middle of summoning and either the wave fails completely or is released with less potency.
Jade eyes cut over to her former best friend, heart already aching at the sight of him. "Sealie! Get behind me, please." Her voice cracked and she turned her attention back towards the youma who squawked indignantly

His eyes were glued to the corrupt senshi - Eternal senshi - and he made the grievous error of ignoring the giant bird youma for a little too long.
The talon came scraping across his clothing before he had time to jerk away, long claws tearing into both fabric and flesh as it dug into his arm. As the limb yanked away, it took with it shreds of blue, fur and red - red?
Seal's Eye's free arm moved up, hand clasping around the wound. His poor brain was trying to play catch-up with what had just happened, the sharp, agonizing pain soon settling in as he stumbled over to his side. Warm, damp feeling began to soak around his other fingers, trickles coming down his arm as he tried to keep it from moving too much.
She was calling him - she was also calling her wave and while he'd never seen her use her attack before, Seal's Eye knew better than to stand around and be on the receiving end of whatever her wave attack did. There wasn't time to argue, wasn't time to insist he could freeze the bird if given the opportunity. She'd made a request of her Sealie and he wasn't going to let her down - not this time.
Wincing, he struggled until he was standing behind the corrupt senshi, doing his best to hold back the growing grimace he was feeling as his arm throbbed in pain.
"I... I don't know if I can teleport. Can you?"

Hydra struggled to hide her grimace when she was forced to watch Seal's Eye take damage. There wasn't anything she could do except wait for her wave to rise and once it was at the right height, she pushed it forward towards the bird who's beak had just opened to let out a screeching caw that left her ears ringing.
Down went the youma in a shriek of cawing and feathers, the wave holding it down long enough to allow her to grab a hold of the dream guardian and pull him against her.
"I-- " She cut off, cheeks burning red while gloved fingers twisted in whatever part of his tunic she could grab. "I got it." Her voice shook, but her body did not.
Concentrating was hard over the rapid-fire pulse of her heart but she thought of something that wasn't there and --
When she opened her eyes, they'd find themselves at their fountain.
Hydra was reluctant to let go.

He hadn't expected the sudden grip that sent him stumbling up against the shorter girl, his good hand moving out to take hold of her shoulder as the injured one remained cradled against himself. The sound of the monster's shrieks were deafening, definitely distracting the Guardian temporarily from both the excruciating pain and the close proximity of his rescuer.
When Hydra teleported them both away from the scene of the attack, however, things came back to him tenfold and the fingers gripping her shoulder tightened as he let out a haggard breath.
"T-Thank you."
The pain was coming in waves of throbbing, shredded clothing growing damp with dark red as it clung to his arm... which was also growing suspiciously wet. As he continued to stand there, he realized he was swaying. With the way his head was feeling lighter and lighter despite the pain, Seal was quickly finding concern in his ability to remain focused.
His head dipped down, resting against Hydra's for a brief moment before his legs started moving backwards, taking the corrupt senshi with him towards the fountain. "I...I need to sit down, I th-think."

She didn't realize how badly he had been injured until he was moving them and she could see the way his tunic was shredded and how he was clutching himself.
Hydra felt like her heart was in her throat as she followed him, one hand clutching at whatever fabric she could grab like she was afraid that if they weren't touching he would disappear before her as if all of this was some taunting dream.
"Sealie," she whispered, trying to keep her concern and panic down as she helped him sit. Jade eyes took note of his wound and she chewed on her bottom lip with concern. "Let me help you," she pleaded, afraid that now that he was out of harms way he'd rebuff her.
It would be what she deserved, after she pushed him away.
"You're---" She stopped, fear keeping her from voicing the rest of her thought. You're bleeding too much.. The tails of her bow were quickly gathered and she tore the fabric with some difficulty. "Let me, please." She begged again, already trying to press the fabric against his wound.
Tears were beginning to spring to the corners of her eyes.

"I'm... just as handsome as when you last saw me?"
His attempt at being humorous was falling short but he tried to keep his tone and wording light. It was clear from her own voice that she was scared for his behalf and while he couldn't mend his own wound to help assure her, he could at least pretend that he felt better than he truly did. "I have t-to say, red doesn't go n-nearly as well with my outfit as I would hope."
He took a few deep breaths, the sound coming out more ragged than he'd care to reveal. One hand moved to press atop of hers, both adding additional pressure and finding comfort in once again being in the presence of his best friend - despite the current circumstances that they'd found themselves in.
Through gritted teeth, he forced a smile as he looked up at her. "It's good to see you again, my L-Lady."

She knew he was trying to appease her worries by playing the injury off as something less than what it was. Still possible hysteria allowed her to laugh with him, sobs trying to choke in her throat. "You're always handsome," she replied, allowing herself to lean against him and take some comfort in his hands over hers.
The blood staining the black fabric was impossible to see but she could feel it's slickness against her gloves and her heart twisted in panic.
"I just got you back, you're not allowed to leave me again," she blurted out, unable to stop the tears now as they fell across her cheeks. Hydra felt stupid but Seal's Eye was her best friend, he'd never stopped being such even as she pushed him away and....
And she loved him so much it hurt, no matter how much she loved Akio too.
"We need to get you to---I don't know how to fix this. Sealie I'm sorry,"

Every quiver of her voice sent a fresh pang through his heart. Smaller hands were desperately trying to stop the bleeding, her own uniform now ruined, all to save him. There was guilt on top of relief, a mixture of emotions he was having difficulty sorting through while he struggled to keep his shoulders upright.
"My Lady, please don't cry." Seated on the edge of the fountain, he was now eye to eye with the young woman and took the opportunity to release his hand of hers, moving it up to caress her pale cheek. His thumb was quick to collect the tears as he strained a smile. "If you order me not to leave, I'll-I'll do my best to obey."
Hydra was right, however. They needed to get him somewhere because shredded fabric could only hold pressure for so long on wounds that clearly needed tending to. It was beyond his scope of first aid abilities, which meant heading to a hospital... but as Seal's Eye?
No, he'd be a sitting duck if anyone nefarious lurked behind a badge.
"I think modern medicine may trump magic in this case, for once," he finally admitted, almost begrudgingly, though fingers still lingered on the warm cheek covered in tears meant just for him.
