Name: Banashe
Age: 17 Turns
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Weyr: High Reaches Weyr
Rider Rank: Wingrider
Previous Rank/Craft: Fisher Apprentice- Oysters
Physical Description: Banashe is still young and thin. She has just started to grow her curves; most of the time though they aren't visible under her clothes. The young teen prefers to wear a white billowy sailor shirt, or one with the sleeves cut off for coolness, and brown baggy pants. She goes barefoot most of the time. Her hair is a dark brown with streaks highlighted by the sun. It's shoulder blade length and curly; a headband pulls it back from her face and keeps it out of her eyes. She stands 4'9" currently, but will be 5'6" at maturity. Her skin is olive and tanned from many days on the ocean.

Personality: Despite her youthful age, Banashe takes a farsighted view. She views things in their long term benefits. Every choice is weighed for it's pros and cons; her goal is to give the most advantageous advantage to herself and her twin. Her farsightedness is all due to furthering her power-hungry ways. Banashe wants as much power in her grasp as possible. She doesn't like to give up her power. When she joined her uncle's boat her goal was to become the captain of her own boat as soon as possible. Whatever her lofty goals she remains reserved. Banashe has a tendency toward emotional restraint. If her plans don't work, she'll back up, regroup, and try again with a different tactic. Her twin is her right hand woman. They both desire power, and it's much easier to obtain it with solid backing than having to constantly watch over your shoulder.

She, while seeking power, is still kind. Banashe will generously dole out praise where it has been truly earned. Although she wants power there are some lines that she won't cross to get there. Banashe won't try to remove anyone from a position of authority if they use it for the good of everyone. However, if power is abused then she will work to bring them down. Banashe can be well-meaning when she tries to tell someone they are unsuitable in a leadership position. She doesn't consider that perhaps they just need more experience to be a good leader.

Since she has moved to Tillek Hold, Banashe has developed a strong connection with the sea. There is something mystical about the ocean, particularly at night, that she loves. The ocean will always be her home. She is quite good at judging people or political situations with intelligence, insight, and sound judgement. This is incredibly useful in her bids for power. Banashe uses this intuition to help judge how advantageous someone or a situation will be to her. One thing to note about her is that she remains very bland in political situations. She keeps her emotions well under a rug.

Positive Trait List far-sighted, kind, moral compass
Negative Trait List power hungry/ambitious, reserved, emotionally restrained

History: Banashe and her fraternal twin, Octavia, were born to their loving parents in Bitra. When the girls were in their fourth Turn, their house was robbed. Their parents were killed in an attempt to stop the intruder. They had no other immediate family in the area, so their extended family in various other places decided to send the girls to live with an uncle. The uncle happened to live in Tillek Hold and worked as an oyster farmer. Although initially difficult, Banashe settled down with her uncle. It wasn't until a handful of turns later that she could really understand that her parents were dead and not coming back.

As she grew, she developed a love of water and particularly the ocean. The young girl quickly got swimming lessons and how to be safe in the ocean. Banashe started to learn from her uncle all she could about the sea. When she was twelve she was apprenticed on his boat to another sailor. Banashe went through the different jobs on board the ship. She decided that she preferred being a diver for oysters. At one point she did consider becoming a dolphineer, but in the end chose not to pursue that line.

Her and her twin had been working on the boat for almost 2 Turns. While out on the boat one day, a couple of blue dragons stopped by. They had been arguing about something it seemed, and had come to settle the matter. One blue thought Octavia was a good choice to stand as a candidate, while the other blue favored Banashe. She was so surprised to be chosen at the same time as her twin. The girls packed their few possessions and Banashe said good bye to her uncle. She thanked him for everything he and his sailors had done for her, then promised to stop by sometime after she impressed her dragon.

Quickly she settled into being a candidate. Banashe did her best to be at the top of the list from the group, even if it earned her a few enemies from older candidates. She had plans to go far as a rider! Where best to start than with future riders? Banashe doesn't really see eye to eye with High Reaches Weyr on its viewpoint that non-goldrider women are worth less than goldrider women. She keeps most of her comments to herself on the subject, except to her twin, as she intends to prove her view point to them.

A Turn passed as the young teen collected a group of use-fulls around her and her twin. Her and her twin had stood for several clutches but either had Impressed. In the Turn 3572, an unaffiliated queen decided to have her clutch at High Reaches. Banashe was eager for another chance to impress her dragon. Among the clutch, a blue and a brown hatched. They teamed up together against one of their blue brothers. After they sent him packing, they turned on each other and rolled over an unfortunate female candidate.

The pair of dragons separated and encircled a group of female candidates, including Octavia and Banashe. Banashe watched them as they circled, trying to formulate a plan to free her and her twin from them without getting mauled when a voice reached out to her.

Banashemine, tell that nitwit Zangoth it is tactics that wins the day, not just sheer ambition! Your Severith thinks it unfair he stands behind His!

She impressed the lanky brown, and her twin impressed to the blue. Banashe was delighted. They had both impressed their dragons together and would grow up together as riders. Nothing could stop them now. She did notice some of the dark murmurs that two girls had gotten fighting dragons, particularly one of them a brown. Not that they were going to stop her now! Severith approved.

Anytime Severith and Zangoth were together, they almost always broke into a fight. When they didn't fight though, they were a pair to be reckoned with. Over the next two Turns, Banashe and Severith grew into capable dragonriders. The derision heaped upon her for daring to be a female brownrider only made her more determined to prove the doubters wrong. She was now 17 Turns old. The teen had kept up her circle. She was ready to make her move.

DRAGON
Name: Severith
Age: 2 Turns (3572.01.02)
Color: Brown
Size: 38'
Physical Description: Severith is an average brown in terms of overall length but his slim sinuous build makes him look long. His slight build (along with his acid tongue) will probably earn him nicknames such as Tunnelsnake from certain parties, say Zangoth for instance.
Personality: Severith is a cool customer with cunning and ambition enough for three. He wants the best and wants to be the best, he's intelligent and he knows it so he sees no reason he shouldn't rise to the top in life.

There is something in Severith's bearing that those who like him would call regal and those who dislike him would call haughty or arrogant. It's certainly true that this brown thinks a good deal of himself, he is not at all affected by low self esteem and has no truck at all with false modesty; yes thank you he is intelligent, he is logical, he is sleek and beautiful and whyever would he pretend he wasn't just to make others feel better about themselves? Indeed making people feel good about themselves is, well, it's not really in his skillset; Severith is rather blunt and will never honeycoat an unpleasant truth whether it be about a person or about a situation.

When there is something Severith wants trying to prevent him from pursuing it is nigh on impossible; he is patient, stubborn, and his confidence in himself means that being knocked back doesn't trouble him in the least; failure just means that you need to try again, once you've rethought your strategy that is. Mostly what Severith wants out of life is power, partially for its own sake - who wouldn't enjoy power? - and partially because he believes he has the skills required to be good at leading. Exactly what kind of power to go for he is somewhat open to persuasion on though really he would like to rise as high as he possibly can and fancies himself a Junior Weyrleader by the time he's ten turns old; again, nobody ever said he wasn't a little bit arrogant.

Much as he has no truck with cushioning people's feelings Severith has no patience for softness when there are hard decisions to be made, he is a ruthlessly practical sort who is quite prepared to make bloody sacrifices for the greater good if he deems it necessary. A general can't save everyone, pretending otherwise is foolish. Planning and strategies are Severith's strong suit, he does best removed from the action with plenty of time to weigh up possibilities before selecting the best one possible; thrust into the heat of it without a plan, or when a plan has gone awry, he will find himself at a complete loss and have to turn to others for a quick decision on what ought to be done.

Ah, and then there's Zangoth. Dear Zangoth. Severith thinks he is a hot-headed, soft-hearted, impatient, reckless, idiot. Nothing and noone gets under his hide like Zangoth can, if the two of them are together for more than five minutes or so expect an argument... and for the love of stars don't intervene. Really, just don't, because if you do they will both turn on you. Nobody messes with that little pipsqueak in his presence, and if you try he will cut you. He'd never admit it of course but under the rivalry and despite their great differences he respects the strengths that Zangoth has that he lacks; he would certainly never admit that he loves his fool sibling but he does. There are exactly two people on Pern Severith would risk his hide for, his rider is one and- no, no he will certainly not admit the second!

Why me?: Banashe and Severith are cool headed long term planners with boatloads of ambition, perhaps several fleets' worth in fact. Where Severith could be too cold-blooded at times Banashe's kindness will temper him but conversely when there is no 'nice' choice to make Severith will make sure they make the most practical one. While he might make a lot of noise about his displeasure at being linked to Zangoth through his rider's twin Severith is in fact secretly glad of this, for though they endlessly knock sparks off one another he knows they make a strong team when they pull together. Not having to make excuses for why he works closely with the blue is definitely something he appreciates.

Inspiration:
Seviper - #336 - Fang Snake Pokémon: Seviper’s swordlike tail serves two purposes—it slashes foes and douses them with secreted poison. This Pokémon will not give up its long-running blood feud with Zangoose.

Seviper and its rival Zangoose share several characteristics, such as being in the Field Egg Group, residing in the same Friend Area, and being the only two Pokémon with a base stat total of 458 (which is unique to only them). In Horde Encounters, Seviper can be encountered together with Zangoose. However, they will focus on and attack each other before targeting the player's Pokémon, referencing their bitter rivalry towards one another.

Seviper is based on a viper; specifically, the habu, a type of venomous snake that was often pitted against mongooses in roadside shows. This practice is now considered inhumane and is rarely seen today. Aside from its scars, the shape of its color pattern resembles that of the elegant pitviper.
