Sinistra felt she knew nothing about her namesake. She stared up at the sky, standing in the park tonight for patrol but getting distracted by the clear, beautiful night sky. There were stars all over, shining and glimmering in their unique ways, but she was still not sure which one was hers. Not that she could ever really see it.

They were just really bright dots. And there were sure a lot of them.

Was that what it really meant to be a senshi? Just one of a crowd of similar faces, with similar goals, without a way to stand out? What was unique about them all? Their names and powers were given to them, not something they chose. It did not seem to be based on them, either, as she was not particularly tied to Brooms in her day to day life... yet she was apparently the senshi of them.

Why did brooms need a senshi, anyway?

She knew that her star was in a constellation called the Serpent Bearer, and that it was possible to see it from Earth. She knew a lot of the details, the numbers, because she looked it all up on the internet. But none of it served to connect her to it. It was just like a project she was studying for school. Interesting, but with the lingering feeling that when she moved on to the next subject it would all be forgotten.

Sighing, Sinistra sat down on a swing, idly pushing herself back and forth and watching the sky, lost in her thoughts.

The park was a fairly typical place to find Encke patrolling. It allowed him to get a run in, while at the same time looking out for any youma and agents up to anything nefarious. Seemed like a win to him.

The fact that it was so clear out was a bonus. It allowed him to look out and imagine just what was out there. Considering he had a leg up on a lot of the astronomers on Earth, considering he had actually been to space, Encke knew just how diverse those societies were. They were also fairly dead societies, from what he had seen, though he hoped the fact that Caedus existed and the fact that the Lambda Unit seemed to be of alien origin meant that more of those societies were still living than they realized.

Perhaps there was hope for their own societies yet.

Encke's Comet would be near impossible to spot at the moment, and likely impossible to spot with the naked eye, especially in these light-polluted conditions -- after all, it was barreling far away from Earth at the moment, and it really wasn't that large -- but he glanced at other stars as he ran and wondered what else there was.

Perhaps he should have been an archaeologist.

As he ran, he came across a woman who was sitting on a swing. Her outfit -- and her aura -- screamed senshi, and he slowed his pace and backed up just a bit, wondering what she was up to.

It seemed like she was looking up, too.

"Pretty night, eh?" called Encke, lifting a glowing hand and waving. He decided that he wouldn't be rude, and when he dropped his hand, he added, "I'm Encke. You patrol here often, or just came to see the view?"

"Yeah, it is," Sinistra said distractedly, with a whimsical sigh as she leaned her head against the chain of the slowly swinging seat. She snapped out of her romantic daze, though, when she realized someone had, in fact, spoken to her. She looked at Encke in surprise, turning bright red immediately.

"Oh, gosh, I'm so sorry, I was completely spacing out. I was just looking up to see if I could find my star, and I lost track of everything else. I didn't even notice you approaching! That's not a great way for a senshi to be out on patrol, is it?"

The Super Senshi sighed, looking defeated. She was not the best senshi, she knew that, but she really was trying as hard as she could. It just often turned out that people encountered her when she was doing a less than stellar job of it, in one way or another...

She was starting to think that maybe they were not one off moments, but rather her doing poorly was the common denominator...

"I come by here sometimes, but I admit I was just looking for the stars tonight. I don't really know much about mine. Or... about space, in general, I guess. Is this your patrol area? I don't mean to intrude!"
PostPosted: Wed May 02, 2018 12:40 pm

Encke snickered affectionately when the senshi went from gazing up at the stars in wonder to instant embarrassment. "No need to apologize," offered Encke, putting a hand up to signal that it was nothing, before letting her continue to talk. He couldn't help laughing again when she implied she was intruding.

"I patrol here a lot, but it's not like I claim ownership to the park. You're free to patrol here, or just wonder about space here." He winked, deciding to walk a bit closer. Her statements had caught his attention immediately--she was looking out at space, for a star in particular. She must have been one of those senshi that seemed to have origins in the further reaches, one of the ones he had been pondering about before he came over here. Encke's Comet was honestly incredibly close by in comparison to some of the names he had heard over the years.

It was honestly a wonder so many of them from all over had ended up concentrated here.

"Have you ever gone to your home planet?" asked Encke, out of curiosity. She seemed less experienced than he was, so he didn't expect her to realize that the glowing on his body implied that he had a deep connection to his own comet. It definitely put him in a decent position to help her out with her home planet, though. "There's a lot of wonderful places out there. It's definitely worth at least stopping by if you haven't before."

Encke figured that stopping by once was enough to make someone want to go again and again. Even people with awful wonders or planets seemed to keep returning to them for one reason or another.

Sinistra remained bright red, despite reassurances that it was not necessary. She was not the best in social settings, and even the glamour of being a senshi did little to help her feel more comfortable. Especially when she was caught spacing out, almost literally, and being a bit of a dork. What was she hoping to learn from staring at the sky, anyway? she knew the star was up there, whether she really understood it or not.

She just wished it felt closer to her, in a metaphorical way.

"You can... go to it?" Sinistra looked a little baffled, escaping her embarrassment in time to hear that question, at least. Maybe she had heard others reference visiting... somewhere, but their actual stars, that they were named after? How could they possible visit something like that?

Asked the person who could conjure up a magical, glowing broom when she needed to, to herself. She frowned. Magic, she supposed, was a lot more complicated than any of the subjects she was so good at in school.

Mostly because it seemed to want to do everything it could to avoid making sense all together.

"I've never gone... how do you do it? Have you been to yours?"

She didn't know anything about space yet, and honestly, that delighted Encke.

He could show her.

"Yeah, you can! I've gone to mine. A lot, actually." He moved to motion to the markings that surrounded his eyes, the one on his forehead, and then wiggled his fingers just for good measure. "See this glowing nonsense? It came from visiting my comet a lot." At least, he was pretty sure that was part of it, from what he had learned so far. It seemed to follow up with everything else he had been told, and it had happened on his home comet, and now he could go there more often...

He summoned his cell phone, turning it on as broke the distance between himself and the other senshi. He lifted the phone to get her attention that it was on their phone, before pointing to the center button on the phone.

"It sounds really goofy, but yeah. If you press this and think about your home planet, wherever that may be, you'll go there. You can only do it once every, uh," he squinted, trying to remember how little he could go before this happened to him, "I'd say every two weeks or so? But yeah, you'll have access to the whole planet, whatever your planet is. It's pretty damn awesome, actually-- wait."

He pulled his phone back and offered his other hand for her to shake. "Little rude, probably should introduce myself. Encke. You?"

Sinistra shook her head, not immediately understanding. Yes, magic, that she understood but... how did it work? How could they just... GO to space. And how would they breathe there? Was he just messing with her because she was so confused and having such a hard time understanding this stuff? It was just not academic enough for her to really wrap her study-oriented mind around.

Belief in things she could not see and could not hope to truly understand, because the answers were just not told to them... that was a tough ask.

"It made you glow...?"

What, like radiation?

She looked at his phone, though, and took her own out to follow the lesson. She was listening very attentively, trying to absorb every ounce of the information he was offering her and nodding along, thumb tracing over the big button she'd never really thought about before. Sure, she registered numbers in this thing, but she had not considered it much more than... a phone.

To be fair, it did not look much like a space ship.

She jumped when he pulled back, blushing furiously and timidly touching his hand for a light, embarrassed shake.

"I'm Sinistra. It's very nice to meet you, Encke. I really appreciate you taking the time to explain this to me. Uhm. So... I would just... press that button? But... how... would I need a space suit...?"
PostPosted: Wed Jun 20, 2018 9:42 am

The blush caught his attention, and for a moment, Encke worried he had done something wrong. But she recovered fairly quickly, and it was with some relief he shook her hand. Last thing he wanted to do was alienate her.

Space was exciting though, okay?

"Sinistra? That's a pretty name," offered Encke, with a grin. "But yeah, no problem! I love space, honestly. I'll explain space to everyone." Even their enemies, probably. If they weren't doing anything dangerous. And showed interest. And maybe if he could use it as leverage to get them to purify. That was a lot of conditions. Could he use space as leverage, though? It seemed like it might be a handy way to convince--

What was he doing he was talking to Sinistra.

"Yup, just press the button. I know, it seems like a joke, but magic, right?" He pulled his phone back out, just to point out the center button again. "We can actually breathe and survive in space without any space suits or anything like that. I suspect the magic of our planets or what have you actually protects us. Probably because we used to live there, in a past life..."

He swatted at the air at this, almost dismissive of that point. The important part was that they could go to space and even restore these past worlds. Still, he saw her expression, and heard her tone. "It probably seems like I'm bullshitting you. I could show you, if you'd like."

He paused.

"Or you can give it a try."

Sinistra tried not to look as embarrassed as she felt. She really was very bad at speaking with others, as she liked to sit quietly in the back of the class and make no trouble, or direct eye contact. It meant her social skills were lacking, at best, so she had trouble with very simple things like compliments.

Knee jerk reaction was to turn bright red and stare at the floor.

Sinistra did not register that the concept of a past life was actually very important to the whole planet thing, but maybe she was just not paying enough attention despite her skills at being a student. She was focusing on the phone and mention of the planet itself, and assumed the past life explanation was something he came up with to justify the magic. That was something she could appreciate, though, as she wished a lot more of this stuff came with factual explanations.

"Maybe you can show me your planet," she said, after a long, silent moment of debating pressing the button on her phone. "I'm not sure what we would find on mine... or... o-or I can to mine. I'm sorry, I don't mean to be picky or anything!"
PostPosted: Mon Jul 09, 2018 6:08 pm

"You'll likely find the remnants of some past society on yours," offered Encke, with a small chuckle, wondering if she was getting the gravity of what he was suggesting, "but we can go to mine today, if you'd like. At the very least, it'll give you an idea of what to expect."

He paused, thought about what he just said for a moment, and then added, "Though every planet is different."

Just the few places he had been to in space other than his comet showed him that every location had a completely different feel to it. It made a lot of sense; if Earth was as diverse as it was, he could only start to imagine how diverse space was. His own comet seemed like it came out of a sci-fi movie, though a sci-fi movie made before they understood just how far technology could go.

And yet he had seen things on his comet that resembled far more modern times.

He offered his hand to her, and with a chuckle, remarked, "The only thing is you'll need to hold my hand for this."

Sinistra shook her head, wondering what she could possibly find on her planet. There was really nothing in the books she'd read that indicated there was any kind of society or life at all, but she supposed that was where the magic side of this all came in.

That magic always got in the way of logical explanations.

She stared at him like a deer, or maybe something much smaller, in headlights.

"Oh. Yes. Uhm. O-of course. Nothing... nothing to be shy about. Just... just going to space with a stranger..." she was mostly talking to herself, and despite her hesitant and shy tone she reached her hand out to take his, turning bright red again as she did so.

Boy, if this was just some weird lie to get her to touch him, she was going to be really upset. Yet that made no sense, and normal human beings did not freak out so much about direct contact as she did, so she really doubt someone could go out of their way just to hold hands. Certainly not to space. She was just panicking because there was so much unknown in front of her, and she was desperately looking for something she was familiar with.

And not finding it.

"I trust you," she said out loud, in answer to her private struggles but also, she hoped, to confirm that she was ready to fly across the galaxy. Or however it was supposed to work.
PostPosted: Mon Jul 09, 2018 7:47 pm

The poor girl seemed almost frightened, and Encke honestly felt bad; there was a part of him that wanted to back off and say it was alright, they could wait for another day, when she was more ready for it, but she did ultimately end up taking his hand.

That came as some relief, admittedly, mostly because Encke liked showing space.

There had been a time in his life where any contact from anyone had terrified him, even if he had managed to heal enough where contact was no longer an issue. He understood her hesitance to it and resolved not to hang onto her hand any longer than he had to. "Alright." He shot her a grin, before turning his attention back to his phone and pressing the button with his free hand. There was perhaps a few seconds before they were wisked away across the galaxy.

Or, at the very least, across the Solar System.

The first thing Sinistra may have noticed was the much higher amount of stars in the sky above them. While the new presence of electricity meant that the sky was no longer entirely not light polluted, it was less light polluted than any place on Earth may have been. Close observations may have allowed Sinistra to notice that the stars in the sky seemed to actively be moving. mostly because they were technically on an object that was hurdling through space.

Encke let go of her hand at the earliest opportunity.

"This is Encke's Comet," offered Encke, with a laugh.

If Sinistra took the chance to look around, they were clearly in the repaired remnants of what was once a bustling city. There wasn't anyone there anymore, not anyone but them, but the nearby grand buildings with spires coming off the top hinted that there definitely were once people here. There were currently some plants here, though. Sprouting up near the repaired stone path they stood on were some glowing bulbous plants, along with another plant that looked more like a grass of sorts.

Most of the ground not covered with plants, buildings and structures, and repaired stone paths was grey stone, perhaps something a little more expected of a comet.

Sinistra felt lightheaded and weird when the travel abruptly started and then stopped, and she thought for a moment she had been tricked somehow. Maybe he just grabbed her and span her around until she was disoriented? She would probably have noticed that one, though, and it would not have turned into a Stargate jump.

No, there was definitely something entirely new as she opened her eyes and looked around. They were not where they had been standing before, certainly. In fact, as she glanced up, she could see they were not even on the same planet.

The constellations, the stars: the entire sky was completely different. She was seeing things at an angle all the science at home had never imagined, because they could never see it. Her brain sort of melted at that idea.

Blinking, she looked around the city, gasping at the tall buildings and the strange, alien plant life. In fact, any more gasping and she would probably pass out. It took a lot of focus for her to get her lungs to operate at their usual standards.

"This is... this is incredible! It's beautiful! This is your homeworld? Your comet? It's utterly amazing." She suddenly sprang to life, skittering away from him to run her hand over the leaves of a nearby plant. "Could these grow on earth, or are they specific to this atmosphere? Are there animals here? These buildings... it's all so big!"
PostPosted: Mon Jul 16, 2018 10:37 pm

Encke watched her, a little concerned that she seemed to be breathing really fast. Like ... really fast. Was she having a panic attack? Hyperventilating? Had he made a mistake by bringing her here? He hoped not, space was amazing but she seemed to be a bit more of a nervous or skeptical--

His thoughts cut off when Sinistra suddenly started talking again, and the grin came back to his face almost immediately. She seemed so excited, and that only fed into his own excitement. Not only was she fine, she was thrilled, which made Encke more thrilled, because he loved being on his comet in the first place, but being able to share that with someone else, to introduce that to someone else?

"Yes, this is my homeworld! I tend to call it my homecomet, actually." Encke spun around for a moment with his arms spread out as a way of displaying just how much of this existed. "Thank you! I'm amazed by it too, honestly. More amazed by it every day. Can you believe that this is just all out here, for us to discover? That a society existed here, on a comet?"

To him, it made sense. He had the memories, he had the physical proof, he had the paintings on the walls and the functioning machinery and the electricity flying through the air -- but from the standpoint of a human on Earth, it was mind-blowing, even though he had long been familiar with it. He remembered how stunned he had been when he first learned about space, and it was great to see other people just as excited about it as he was.

He hoped to make everyone just as excited about their homes.

Encke glanced over to one of the bulbs, before squatting down to take a closer look at it. As he looked over it, the bulb's luminescence added an extra glow to his palms. "I actually don't know if it can grow on Earth, but if I can find a way to let it grow in a way that might not harm local plants, I'd love to find out." He shot a grin up in her direction. "My memories tell me there used to be animals here, people too, but," he frowned, "I know there's no people here but us, animals I haven't seen much sign of," though he supposed there may be some around somewhere...

"But plants we have for sure. And electricity! Can you see the lights coming out of some of the buildings?"

He stood up, pointing out the lights streaming from one of the nearby buildings in particular. The particular grandness of that building, with the tallest spire in the area reaching up to the sky, located at the center of several other buildings, hinted at its importance. "It's pretty wild, eh?"

Admittedly, he was very proud of the electricity.

"Home Comet!" Sinistra could not help but echo it, squeaking with excitement. She put her hands over her mouth, shaking her head and looking around again to get a better look at it all. "Oh, I wonder if Sinistra is anything like this!? I don't know where to start. This is all so... so very unexpected!"

She moved to him, taking his hand in both of hers and looking at him with the brightest, most excited smile she felt she had ever experienced in her life. She had never seen anything so wonderful before, and the idea that she had something like this, something unique to her sphere and her senshi name, waiting for her was incredible. Overwhelming.

It was just what she needed to know.

"This is all so amazing, thank you for showing it to me! The electricity, yes! It's amazing that a place so far removed from our Earth can be so much like it, but so different, too! I wonder what else is out there? All the different Senshi, all the different planets! And my own! It's out there, too! Oh, thank you, thank you! I can't believe any of this, but for the first time I don't even care. I just... I'm so happy to see all of this."

She felt like she was intruding in something personal, since it was HIS planet, and not hers, but he had been willing to share it with her, even at a glance, and that meant everything. She knew she had to go and visit her own homeworld now, and learn everything she could about it. It might take some time, but she was looking forward to every single moment.
