The now 13 year old Chibi Senshi was over being called a 'chibi'. He wanted to be a full grown senshi, like the ones he met while he was patrolling. He was doing his damned best to prove he was older than he looked, but no one was buying it. In fact, because he was actually on the immature side of things with his behavior, being bratty and stubborn as he was, a lot of people thought he was younger than his actual age.

That was even worse.

Cygnus was at one of his favorite places during the day, one of the local arcades, though it was closed. He was on patrol, parked on top of the roof of the arcade to look out over the silent, mostly sleepy streets below and wonder if there were any easy targets for him to chase after.

He decided that his super hero story revolved around hunting and destroying youma, rather than trying to fight Negaverse soldiers. They were too scary and a lot of them were just too damn strong for him to take on directly. There was no way he would be able to get stronger, though, if all he did was train on the first level stuff. It was like trying to be a pokemon master but only fighting rattata and pidgey.

He wasn't going to get anywhere like this, but he was a little too scared still to try for something tougher. It was an annoying situation to be in.

While not entirely surprised to see his brother lingering about the arcade at night, the page wasn't happy about it. Or that his brother had somehow been recruited into a war he wasn't nearly old enough to understand, let alone fight in. Whose ******** great idea was it to recruit kids anyways? It wasn't just senseless, it was asinine and dangerous. Irresponsible. Cruel.

There was a whole list of adjectives he could have listed, but it would have been redundant.

"Still playing the hero, huh?" Cygnus probably felt him approaching, but he wanted to announce himself anyways. "How do you keep sneaking out without mom or dad being any the wiser?"

His arms were crossed as he came walking down the sidewalk outside the arcade, brows drawn and lips twisting into an unhappy curve.

"As long as no one TELLS them, I'll be fine," Cygnus returned, wrinkling his nose in distaste as his brother approached. "It's no different than you being a secret knight, just because you're older! I'm probably better at it than you are anyway, that's why I got to be a senshi."

He stuck his tongue out, but he did hop toward his brother to greet him. He wanted to be close and even the bickering came from a place of love and respect. He had always looked up to his brother, after all.

There was no reason for this super powered thing to be any different. Sure, they were not technically the same thing, but Cygnus was sure he could learn a lot from his brother and, despite what he said, he was sure Baikal was a really good knight with a lot to teach.

Because he was his brother, after all. He was amazing. Not that Cygnus would say that out loud very often.

"What are you doing out here anyway? Did you follow me here just to yell at me about stuff?"

Baikal snorted as he drew nearer, head coming up to ruffle the kid's hair affectionately. "The difference is I don't live there, so I don't have to worry about them finding out if I'm not in bed past bedtime." Living on his own, out of school, Ax could have stay out all night and no one would have cared. In fact he had before, many times.

"I'm not gunna tattle on you though, it's not like I could tell them the truth." He wasn't at all sure his parents could have taken the knowledge that not one son, but two were living double lives. Dangerous double lives.

Yawning, Baikal adjusted his scarf so it wasn't so tight around his neck. "I just figured I'd swing by to see if this was still where you patrolled." Definitely not yelling. At least not yet.

He'd figured out Cygnus wasn't going to listen to his lectures about this being too dangerous for him, and that he needed to stop going out at night, at least until he was older. The best Baikal could do was check in on him periodically, make sure he asked about him when he talked to his parents. Make sure he was alright.

Cygnus squinted at his brother stubbornly, keeping his arms folded over his chest in his classic stance. He frowned at the logic, grumbling something and kicking a stone. As long as no one tattled on him, he was fine being out at night.

Sheesh.

"Yeah, I guess that's true. It kinda sucks, them not knowing that we're super heroes, though. Or that they could be super heroes or... I dunno. A bad guy, right?"

He looked a little mortified for a moment, never considering that before. What if their parents were high ranking negaverse soldiers? And they were telling him to stay inside when it was raining, so he couldn't go on his patrols! Or grounding him when he got caught being late or not doing his homework. But maybe they were doing that for a more sinister reason than making sure he got enough sleep and graduated.

Or maybe they were just normal parents.

"I'm trying to be stronger and better. What about you? Have you done anything awesome recently?" He loved stories of powered-do-gooding, and since he looked up to his brother so much, he was excited about hearing some of the tales he might have.

He frowned down at his little brother in exasperation before shaking his head. "Our parents are not Negaverse agents," he said confidently, well aware that he had no way of knowing that for sure. However, he didn't need Cygnus suspecting them of wrong doing, it would have just complicated their his home life needlessly. Made him question every action or word. He was already rebellious enough on his own without that push.

"Stronger, huh?" He let his arms unfold as he glanced around them, then stepped over to the curb to sink down onto it. "What does that entail exactly?" Do I really want to know? Probably not. If Cygnus was out picking fights with agents and youma it was going to make it a whole lot harder to just let him go about his nightly duties.

The senshi didn't' listen to him though, and he didn't have the sort of parental authority needed to put an end to it. Aside from following him around every night there wasn't much he could do about it.

Fingers knitting, he let his hands hang between his knees as he looked up at the kid. "I dusted big a** youma that was like am mix between a giant lizard, a big cat, and some kind of gross insect." He chuckled. "Well, I had help, but this thing was tricky."

Cygnus watched his brother, nodding his head and believing him when he said their parents weren't part of the Negaverse. It was not like he could prove or disprove it, so ultimately he was just deciding what to believe because it made him feel better. Maybe it was childish but... he was still young enough for that to be okay.

Right?

He wrinkled his nose skeptically, but there was no hiding the adoring shimmer in his eyes as his brother told him about the giant youma he was able to dust. With or without help, to Cygnus it was still the most amazing thing he had ever heard. He just could not fully let it be known. That was the curse of being a younger brother: he had to be secretive about his idolization, or he would never hear the end of it.

"An bug cat lizard? That sounds crazy! You weren't hurt, were you? Did it turn into a LOT of dust? I've only seen little ones get poofed, and it's really not that cool. I want beating a bad guy to feel like you really beat it."

"You've seen at least one big one get dusted, or did you forget the big thing that attacked us on our way back from the movies?" It had been the night they'd realized they were both a part of this war, fighting for the same side. It'd been quite some time since then, and Baikal still had trouble wrapping his head around it at times.

Cygnus' enthusiasm was addictive, in a way. The page found himself drawing on his brother's excitement in a way he hadn't been able to in years. At a certain point Axton's baby brother had stopped being a baby and had stopped being Axton's shadow. It had been a relief at the time, but had eventually turned bittersweet.

"There was a lot of dust," he assured the young senshi with a grin. "And I'm fine. A few bruises I think, but nothing serious." Broad shoulders rolled in a shrug.
