She had given more than enough time for most of her sharper memories to fade where the cook was concerned, but after Camelot had poked his head into things and messed things up with Gently made her unhappy again…she was pissed and snitching on the innocent boy seemed like the best idea.
Besides. This was her duty. Axinite was counting on her for information…and she would give it.
Again she didn’t make an appointment, and again Cavansite traveled to Negaspace and made her way towards Axinite’s office, idly wondering if she shouldn’t actually write something up this time…but…she had her small page of notes that she had compiled before coming…it wasn’t a good page of notes. Just a few hastily scribbled things that she had remembered but… Hopefully it would be enough. Perhaps it would lead to the start of an investigation…
Moving over to the wide open door the General poked her head in and knocked lightly on the frame. “General King Axinite? It’s General Cavansite again…I’ve…run into another former youma. I would like to again, tell you the report personally…if you have the time, sir.”
She couldn’t quite understand why she felt so nervous all of the sudden…and why a torrent of guilt suddenly began to assault her.
This was her job.

Axinite’s office door was open, as it often was, and he was sitting at his desk reading over notes. His eyes lifted from the paper and though he had appeared rather stoic while reading, a welcoming smile appeared on his face. “Cavansite. Please, come in.” The subject matter was grim, he recognized that, but there was no reason to put further strain on the General. Not when he knew what their last conversation had entailed. He set the paper down in a folder at his side and promptly closed it, tucking it out of sight before he glanced up at her again. “Close the door behind you, if you will, and come have a seat. Can I get you anything? I’ve just made some tea,” he gestured towards a cup of his own he’d just poured and seemed ready to get up and grab another for her.

Cavansite returned the smile for just a moment and closed the door behind her as instructed, before walking to the desk and having a seat in one of the chairs, feeling rather stiff. “Tea sounds wonderful, thank you, Sir.”
Glancing around the office, Cavansite blew out a breath and closed her eyes for a moment. “Honestly, I’m not even sure if this information matters…it wasn’t an officer who had been…it was a kid who I suppose I had been tormenting a while back, a few years ago and I actually watched him being turned into a youma…I had reported the information to General Cinnabar but…I’m not sure if anything came of it…but…”
She shrugged. “I ran into him the other day and he’s human again. And the officer who had done it is nowhere to be found, I’m not quite sure where he’s gone but…that’s another tool that the senshi have taken from us.”
Cavansite glanced over to the form of Axinite again and felt once more the wave of guilt coming up to drown her. To drown everything. “He claims that he doesn’t remember much either. But says that it was a ‘group of senshi’ that helped him. I can…continue to look into it if you would like.”
She had been talking too much, she knew. That was why she was suddenly lightheaded. Why she suddenly just wanted to lay down and sleep for about a hundred years in a nice, cold room but…
But this was her duty, and she would complete her tasks until the end.
…Whatever the end may be.

Politely, Axinite prepared a second cup of tea as he listened to her. He moved the cup across the desk, mindful not to spill it or get it too close to any of his important papers. His brows were knit just slightly, an expression of concern. There was something off about the General and it was plain to see. She seemed exhausted, worn. Working too hard, maybe. Or overwhelmed by everything. Perhaps guilt; he knew she was invested in these matters. “I would appreciate that,” the General King replied earnestly. “Any information would be of great assistance to us. But,” he reached for the spoon in his tea and stirred lightly. It was a practiced effort; he didn’t look at the cup while he did it, but it was something to keep his hands busy while he analyzed her. “Are you doing all right, General? You look a little faint. When was the last time you slept?”

Cavansite took the tea gratefully and held it in her hands, appreciating the warmth that seeped through the cup. She glanced at the General King and managed a small smile. “I’m doing just fine, Axinite, thank you. It’s just been stressful, but it’s nothing that I can’t handle, I assure you.
She took a sip of the warm liquid for want of having something else to say. Finally she sighed, setting the cup down and attempted a smile. “I’m fine. I’m sure. Perhaps I should just sleep a little more, I have been…” Cavansite shrugged, suddenly feeling quite foolish.
“I suppose that my own health has been the last thing on my mind, and I apologize for worrying you. I’ll work harder to take care of me, as well as to take care of the duties that are expected of me. I’m not going to let you down, General King. I promise.” She would hold to that promise. She had to. There were so many things on the line if she didn’t.

He watched her carefully, accepting her answer but not without drawing his own conclusion based on her demeanor. “I don’t think you’ll let me down, Cavansite. That really wasn’t a concern of mine. But, I find in this line of business, it’s always easy to get too engrossed in the mission. I put the Negaverse before my own needs, and I can say that, from experience, it doesn’t always end well. I’ve had to remind myself that I’m only human. And, you can’t serve the Negaverse if you’re dead.” He sipped at his tea, relaxing as the warmth spread through him. “You’ve always been a hard worker, Cavansite. I know you mean it when you say you’ll work harder to take care of yourself. I would be upset if anything were to happen to you. More than just you being an excellent agent, I have to admit that I very much enjoy our conversations.”

The general gave a small smile and nodded. “Thank you, Axinite.” She felt better. She couldn’t help it. His words were a balm on her frayed nerves. His praise and trust in her made all of this worth it. “I think I’ll take your advice, I’ll head home now, and maybe just…spend a lazy day tomorrow and not leave my bed.”
She laughed, knowing it was a lie, but it sounded blissful.
“As always, I’ll let you know if I find out anything more.”
Standing, Cavansite gave a slight bow and made her way towards the door, looking back at the General King with a smile. “But, sir. Please. That same advice that you gave me, goes to you too. You’re far too important to lose, so take care of yourself.”
Her voice seemed amused, but there was a small hint of reproach. People in positions of power tended to think of themselves as invincible. But he was a human, the same as she. And, with a small incline of her head, Cavansite was gone, already planning her day of absolute pampering.
