Naayi are large canines with (typically) long claws, powerful jaws, and sharp teeth. While most Naayi do range in size, a normal Naayi is typically twice the size of what we know as a gray wolf. While this is the standard, smaller and larger individuals do exist.
Naayi are intelligent and have the capacity to learn and speak multiple languages, although the language typically shared amongst other Naayi is known as Common.
They have the natural ability to draw upon magic in their environment, which is essential to their survival. However food is still an essential part of survival!

Naayi have a longer life than most canines and go through a unique cycle of their own.
Reproduction for the Naayi is done through magical means, allowing any mix of male and female Naayi to breed together.
Naayi are pregnant for four in-character months. The pups are small, helpless, and still have their eyes closed. If the parent wishes their pup to survive they need to locate a special pumpkin within nearly any realm and place their pup inside. The pups need to absorb magic through these special pumpkins in order to build up the strength to survive Labyrinth.
Naayi pups stay within these pumpkins for three weeks, while the pumpkins’ shell hardens to ensure the pup stays safe within. During this process the magic intermingling between pumpkin and pup will cause the pumpkin to take on the colors and markings of the pup within! Pups will break out of their pumpkin when they have enough magic to sustain themselves through Labyrinth.
As pups, Naayi are rather helpless. While they tire easily, they still require supervision and need to be educated about the world around them. Pups can be RPed anywhere from three weeks old to a year old, as puppyhood lasts a year in character.
As a pup, any naturally inherited or developed powers will be considerably weaker than their adult counterparts. As they age their powers tend to grow stronger. Pups need to be watched closely to make sure they are properly absorbing magic from the environment and maintaining a good diet.
Once an adult, Naayi can cause a lot of trouble! Armed with sharp teeth and massive claws, Naayi usually can defend themselves fairly well once they've matured. They can create, build, explore, and more.
Naayi age slowly once they reach adult stage. They can live to about a century old if there isn't any divine intervention that extends their life. Naayi can get sick, die in battle, die of old age, and perish in many other ways, just like any other animal. When a Naayi dies the magic they contain is absorbed back into Labyrinth and reused in whatever way the world sees fit.

Naayi are unique in that their main source of sustenance is magic itself. They have a natural, instinctual ability to absorb magic straight from the environment and convert it into the energy they need to survive and fuel their abilities.
Besides magic absorption, Naayi are omnivores, meaning they can sustain themselves off meat and vegetation. Typically a Naayi prefers meat, but there are some Naayi who disagree and are perfectly content as vegetarians! Some breeds even get sick if they eat certain things, so keep an eye out for that!
A Naayi cannot live off of purely magic or purely food. Both are needed in order for them to be healthy and fuel their own magics.
