She hadn't seen the taller handsome man since the party at new years, and well...the night after but Austin had said to hit him up if she ever wanted to have a good time. She was feeling particularly down with finals being a drag and her raid group MIA.
Well that's the way the cookie crumbled right? Augh and she couldn't let Nora paint her nails ONE MORE TIME.
The text message was sent to the taller man with a winky face and smile. She had a feeling he wouldn't say right?
Text to Austin: Sup cutie. Hey remember that time you said you'd take me for a ride in your race car?
Text to Austin: How about later today? ;')

Being a dude who didn't work a regular schedule, or even a regular job at that, with only finals coming up (because Sophie had already come and made him do his homework and then turned it in for him) Austin had spent his midday sleeping. It was the buzzing of his phone on his nightstand that had finally woken him from a three or so hour nap.
Long limbs surfaced from beneath a haphazardly wrapped comforter and he pulled himself up until he was sitting upright. Stretching out his limbs involved several cracking and he reached blearily for his glasses, which he then jammed onto his face, and then he reached for his phone as he yawned.
Upon seeing the texts he grinned and began typing up a message.
[Text to Ciaran: when?]
It was simple, but that's all he needed.

The response was a typical response and she wasn't upset by it, a quick grin spreading over her lips.
Text to Austin: How's 5? I'll wear my best summer gear. Unless you have some other requirement? This is my address -
She started to head into the bathroom, throwing the phone on her bed and pulling her teal and blue hair up into a large bun. Light makeup was applied since she wasn't about it, and she practically had to fight Nora off her.
"It's just a car ride Nora, Jesus christ woman." She practically shoved the larger girl out of her bathroom, smiling as she did so. Austin wasn't like her boyfriend or anything more then a friend with a good time. But that didn't mean they had to be like practically strangers. She wanted to at least be friends with the super hot tall racer.
"Okay, I am leaving Nora. Call Mason if you get bored." She ditched her roommate before the woman could follow her out and brought shades up to her face, her casual zelda shirt tucked into high waisted shorts and high top nikes. A small purse was thrown over her shoulder for the very small things. She wasn't expecting some fancy time.
Just a wild ride in his car.

Despite agreeing to a five'o'clock meet time, Austin showed up at about 5:28. The roar of his car was a loud one, signalling his arrival long before he'd finished lazily sending her a text to do the same. Once he'd pulled up to the side of her house, he moved the car into neutral and climbed out of it.
Partially.
One foot stayed inside the vehicle and the other was secure on the asphalt, but he had the door open with one hand and the other was on the roof of his car when he grinned a slanted grin at her when he saw her.
"Eeeey, C, you look good." He drawled, waving for her to come over while also throwing a wink her way. "Knew you couldn't get enough of me after last time," he teased, slipping back into the car.

Ciaran didn't mind the wait, because she got distracted playing one of her mobile games and she didn't realize the time until she heard his car. Her heart did a weird thump thump, and she smiled easily at him, taking in the fact she had been with him once before.
Part of her was surprised he even responded back.
"OH MY GOD KEY, HE'S DANGEROUSLY SEXY." Nora's voice screamed from the top apartment window, her lavender purple hair circling around a face that was pressed against the glass.
For the sake of her reputation, Ciaran acted normal, swaggering over to Austin and resting an arm on the open part of his door, smiling up at him. "I have a lot left to explore there, 20." She moved over to the otherside opening it up and sliding in as if she slid into nice cars all the time. She was totally freaking out a little though, and she didn't know what she could say to him. She knew he liked cars. And really good....ANYWAYS....
"Is this your baby, or you got other ones?" She gently touched the dashboard in front of the passenger seat.

Nora's comment didn't go unheard and he glanced up to flash her a smile, if she could see it and a two fingered salute in greeting. Green eyes shifted to look at the girl in his car and his lazy grin was given to her instead as he settled back into his seat.
"Can't show you all my tricks too soon," he teased, tugging his door shut. "Or else there's not much to keep discovering." Though he wasn't sure how many side quests he could keep leading his busty friend on before she got bored and went back to the 'main' quest.
"My one and only," he replied, turning the car over and shifting gears so he could pull off the side. "Built most of it myself after my parents got it for me. Spend a lot of time working on it."
In fact the only thing he regularly cared for was his car. "Suggest you buckle up, you wanted a fast ride didn't you?"

Nora DEFINITELY saw it and the loud squees and excited things coming from the apartment were a clear sign of it. Ciaran wanted to face palm, seeing as her roommate was also very much in love with her boyfriend and made sure to harass Ciaran about it EVERYDAY.
"Oh, high roller in stealth and illusion too." She slid into the car, buckling up because she wasn't sure how fast Austin was planning, but she was sure if he was warning her before pulling out, it was gonna be super fast.
"She's a pretty lady. Does she have a name?" Not that she was asking to judge, but like....she named her game controllers. They were important.
"I asked for fast." She brushed her hair back, "I knew what I was getting into." A smile beamed at him, unbashed and excited. "I've never been in a race car, so first time for everything right?"

Austin was amused by all of C's game references and it showed in the lopsided curve of his mouth and the way his gaze kept drifting over to her despite how focused on the road he was. On the dash was a radar, to help him keep a low profile with his admittedly reckless driving.
"Nah, nothing ever felt good enough, y'know?" He answered her question easily enough, moving his hand from the gear shift to pat the car's dash before it returned to it's rightful place and he shifted to accommodate the speed the car was quickly climbing to.
"You should come to the races one night then, if you wanna see fast." He offered, slowing only when they reached a stop light or the radar blipped with warning. "But I got a couple of tricks you might like."

She was pretty pleased that he didn't think she was some crazy gamer girl, because even though she was, he was okay with it. She nodded, understanding that sometimes, there wasn't a need for a name.
The unknown was just as mysterious. She brushed her hair back again. She could feel the car growing in speed, her heart racing a bit as she looked over at the speedometer. She wanted to know how fast the man was going to go.
"If thats an invitation, I'm more then willing." She held out her hands, "There's a difference in playing racing game and actually seeing races you know? I wanna know if you can get as high as you can in games and stuff. Do people crash often?" She stopped to look up at him, "Oh tricks? Impress me then!"

It didn't take them terribly long to get out of the city. There were a few hikeable mountains not too far out of the city whose pathway up into said mountains made for some excellent drifting albeit dangerous drifting but that was part of the thrill wasn't it?
While he made his way up the mountain, he focused on the lady in his car and the things she was asking.
"It is," he said. "Depends on what the layouts like and how much of a risk you're willing to take. Races are just big games of chicken." Austin firmly believed in taking risks and hoping they'd pay off.
"Depends on the quality of the driver. I haven't crashed yet, but I've burned out a couple of times." Back when he was still learning.

"That makes sense too you know? It's the same for games, if you're a good driver, you really do good. Or you crash and burn...." She grimaced, "But less you know....like....real life consequences." She grinned, "But also like, yeah. You get what I mean."
She didn't even know if she got what she meant now.
"How often do you play chicken with people Austin?" She smiled, thinking of the party night. How did the man work? She was curious.
"So you're a risk taker, thrill seeker. Still laid back though, you don't have like any forceful opinions." She tapped her chin.
"What's it mean to burn out?"

"Dunno if 'good' is the right word of if it's more...I'm reckless enough to take the needed risks." It was a toss up as far as Austin was concerned. He was a man who didn't really do a whole lot but he liked racing, it brought good money and he was good at it.
"Depends on the day, depends on the mood and what the prize is," he replied nonchalantly.
"Sounds like you've got me all figured out C." His grin was wide and lazy, shifting gears as they took a turn. "So far, anyway." He winked.
"Means you ******** up, if you're not doing it on purpose. You skid a bit, maybe don't go anywhere despite the car tires rolling. Lots of smoke, bit humiliating if you care."

"Reckless huh?" She brought her body forward, looking over at him and really studying his profile. There was something about Austin that was...calm? Without being so. Lazy was a good word, she thought, but it didn't quite equate the quick smiles and charm.
Austin was a puzzle himself and his look over at her, just as the gears shifted made her laugh. "Reading my mind, aren't you now? I don't know even a fraction of you..." she waited, "Like personality. Bodies are a whole different ball park." She blushed before rubbing her cheeks.
"Do you care?" She looked over at him, "Burnouts I mean. Does it effect your racing?"

"I haven't even shown you half of what I can do with my body." He paused, head tilting in thought. "Or yours."
Austin was confident in his bedroom talents.
"If you want to know something about me, you should start by asking." Shoulders rolled back and that tall body of his shifted to be a little more comfortable when he dropped into neutral to slow down for a turn and then back up a gear as they started climbing up towards the peak of a canyon.
"Nah, s**t happens. Usually it means I ******** up when I was doing a customization." He had mechanical skills because he taught himself, and in come cases he'd taken classes, but he wasn't an expert.
"If I burn or skid out, I've pretty much lost and that's frustrating."

The blush was almost instant and even though Ciaran would say she was experienced, she was still awkward about flirting and blatantly so. "Oh well, I-" She ran a hand through her hair and blew out a breath. "I mean I look forward to your attention to detail and care there 20." She blew out another breath and tried to get the heat, back under control.
"Is it that easy?" She looked over at him, "You're okay with that? Don't like the mysterious handsome stranger trope to use?" She frowned, "I'm really bad at asking questions. Like...I was kind of glad to ask you out here today, but overall, I didn't have any other plan besides like....becoming friends too."
She hummed and then nodded. "Losing can be frustrating, but having evidence of it is even worst."
Her head whipped around though and brows rose in excitement. "You customize your cars?"
