Something stirs you away from your task at hand. Perhaps you were sleeping and were suddenly awoken. Perhaps you were protecting your neighborhood, or perhaps you were turning in energy for your weekly quota. No matter what it was you were doing just moments ago, you were being summoned.

The song is off-key, lilting and uneasy, but it seems to be calling you. It is a hum, a tune you can’t quite place, but know it sounds off. You can feel it in your body and deep in your mind. Almost as if sleepwalking, many begin making their way through the city and towards the park where this strangeness all started.

Fifty-seven starseeds have been gathered at the base of the mysterious monument, drawn here by an eerie, bone-deep song no one else can perceive. You are milling about, almost waiting… but for what? There are enemies and allies among your ranks, but you feel no adrenaline in your veins, no desire to attack. Something seems to be lulling you to an odd dreariness. The moon is high in the sky on this crisp and clear night.

Without warning, the monument begins to glow with a bright, golden light. The light is warm but smells of ozone and static dances across your bare skin. Soon, you are all but blind and lose all feeling in your limbs.

You are drifting…

...and when you awaken, you are no longer in Destiny City as you knew it.

Sandy beige walls pulse with electrical veins, a mechanical hum heavy in the air. You and your now-comrades are in a large room, devoid of doors. Slitted windows align one wall, but some kind of forcefield seems to be keeping you inside. You can see out, gazing upon the moonlit park you had left behind.

[THE RULES OF ENGAGEMENT]

You’re trapped inside the Monument! How did you get here? You’re not really sure, but there doesn’t seem to be any means of escape… for now. The following rules will apply to this event only!

  • You cannot power down while inside the Monument!
  • You cannot leave the Monument by any means you can conceive of. There are no doors leading outside, and Chaos-aligned agents and senshi cannot teleport outside, even if they can clearly visualize where they would like to go. They will not expend the energy even if they tried to teleport, however. TL;DR - no teleportation, nothing happens.
  • Chaos agents, corrupted senshi and Dark Mirrors cannot drain energy.
  • Dark Mirror Senshi cannot mirrorwalk outside the monument or travel to Mirrorspace, and they cannot summon any wraiths.
  • Likewise, Knights and Senshi cannot travel to their homeworld or the moon. You are effectively disconnected for the time being.
  • Knight Summons cannot be used. You can go through the motions, but just like with teleportation, nothing happens. You do not lose any energy for trying.
  • Personal Youma cannot be summoned into the Monument. They cannot hear your call.
  • Knight Aspects are on the fritz and do not appear to work unless specifically noted.
  • You can only interact with the people in your team for the time being. As far as you’re aware, the other people gathered at the Monument with you have effectively disappeared.
  • Cellphones, tablets and other communication devices will work, BUT - only with the people in your team. You cannot call friends if they are not present with you. Your calls and messages simply bounce back.

[SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS]

  • Mauvians are trapped in the highest form they’ve achieved. This means, if they have access to a human or senshi form, they are stuck in it.
  • Mauvians have unlimited kitty beams for the duration of this event (to aid in combat checks!)
  • Our Resident 4th Stage Characters are also stuck in their highest form. This doesn’t apply to Camelot exactly, but… Sorry, Leto. You’re stuck with the big ol’ wings. No shifting between 3rd and 4th stage here.
  • 4th stage characters can only use their special abilities (like crystal powers and Aspects) one time, unless specified otherwise.
  • Chaos agents and senshi can teleport within the Monument itself, but even then, only to rooms you’ve been to and currently have access to. The same applies to Dark Mirrors who find a reflective surface. No Mirrorspace, but you can get from one room to another on a reflective surface if you can find one.
  • Youma DO NOT hunger while in the Monument! Something about it seems to satiate the youma’s need to feed.

More may be added as needed!

[EXTRA SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS]

This event is meant to be fun above all else. If you don’t quite have the time in your day to fill out a post with tons of content, that’s totally fine. We appreciate you being here and trying your best! If you are using this event for growth requirements, please make sure you write at least 500 words!

[NUMBER GENERATION/DICE ROLLING & HP TOTALS]

Dice rolling will be used for task-based events!

Your HP and numbers to generate are dependent on your character’s rank for combat purposes! These will be reiterated for each step of the climb, so don’t worry if you forget - I’ll keep them posted in easy-to-find spots in case it gets confusing.

HP TOTALS:

  • Chibi Senshi/Cats (cat form): 40HP (generates numbers 1-8 for combat)
  • Stage 1 Characters/Cats (human form): 50HP (generates numbers 1-10 for combat)
  • Stage 2 Characters/PC Youma/Cats (senshi form): 60HP (generates numbers 11-20 for combat)
  • Stage 3 Characters: 70HP (generates numbers 21-30 for combat)
  • Stage 4 Characters: 80HP (generates numbers 31-40 for combat)

This list will be reposted before every combat, so don’t worry about memorizing these numbers!

[The first step of the climb will begin in roughly 24 hours!]

Camelot was slow to wake, groaning as he came to and sat up. For a moment he thought he was in bed, and reached for his wife beside him only to find nothing but a floor there. He snapped to attention at that, looking around the strange room and getting to his feet. He noticed the windows, but his concerns were drawn to the others in the room.

"Guys?"

He got to his feet, rubbing his head. He remembered feeling a little strange, looking at the monument with all those other powered people gathered around it. They must have felt the same pull. That odd, but almost expected at this point, call of the monument that ended up as some sort of trap. No matter how many times things like this happened, Camelot still seemed to find himself walking into them.

One day he would learn. Today was just not that day.

He moved to the closest to him, the Nega he recognized from their meeting outside the monument not too long ago, and shook their shoulder gently. He was not sure Lieutenant Paracelsian would want to talk to him, but he supposed they were all trapped in the same place for the moment.

No one would pick a fight, right?

Altais had been lured to the tower after the starcatchers had already investigated it. He had been out and around patrolling when the tower had called to him...and not just him, but others.

Coming to stand under the tower was all a blur, and even more so when they were thrown into a room. Altais didn't rub his head in confusion, but brushed himself off and looked around in the room.

There was nega's too, and Altais shifted to gaze them with wariness. Since the circus, the sunshine boy was not about to let his guard down again.

Well... s**t.

How the hell had he ended up in here? Encke came to his feet slowly, rubbing at his head as if he had taken a rather hard fall. This definitely wasn't his bedroom. He was also no longer outside, staring at the strange monument that had decided to pop up in their city and ... summon them? He had no idea. He had to follow the song. He couldn't get it out of his head.

He heard a knight address them, a ... very powerful knight. That wasn't a level of aura signature he had felt associated with a knight before. Encke squinted, trying to interpret what that might have meant, but his brain was too foggy and confused to fully explain what that was, so his easily distracted brain moved on to the next most obvious thing, the window. Yup, they were definitely ... inside. Inside the monument, from the looks of it.

"How the hell..."

... did he get in here?

Encke turned around to take a closer look at who was in the room. There were definitely plenty of people of Order in there, too, but it didn't miss his notice that there were clearly some members of the Negaverse, including one that felt more powerful than he did. And was that a ... youma?

Well, this wasn't great.

One moment, Koschei was perched upon the pillar, watching as passerby's still attempted to avoid the area or powered characters, order or chaos alike, coming to inspect things and the next? He was somewhere disorienting, unfamiliar and there was no way for him to be able to sink back down into the earth and to his home in the Rift.

Irritably a loud caw left his beak and his four wings spread out as he made his presence known. Several crystals in his feathers clinked against each other and his talons scratched against the ground beneath them.

Koschei took up entirely too much space, red eyes blinking out of order- at least one always open if not two or three, as his head swiveled to look upon the gathered.

"What have we where?" He voiced, though it might've looked like he'd said nothing at all. "What rabbithole have we fallen into?"

His attention was caught by something glistening, the gold of the senshi's uniforms and he flapped his wings to lift himself up and into what air space he could occupy.

If Altais wasn't paying attention, he might find himself losing some of his shinies.

Dammit, she needed to stop doing things later at night.

That wasn't going to happen, there was no way Anser was going to stop doing things late at night, but she certainly might have regrets about some of them after the fact. She didn't like being trapped in anything, and she was definitely trapped in here. There were no doors, only windows. Windows usually meant there was a way out, but she didn't have a way to break them and she wasn't sure she was that small, anyway.

The chibi senshi looked around nervously, tucking her arms under her armpits and attempting to protect herself. How exactly were they going to get out of here?

At least that weird static stuff was gone. She didn't like that.

It didn't miss her notice that some of the people in there were not good guys. She saw the dark uniforms that she knew by now identified the Negaverse, and her instinct both told her that she needed to fight them until they fell down defeated and that she needed to get the hell out of there because the amount of people in there seemed ... a lot. And also, she didn't want to be stuck in a room with no escape.

She lowered her arms so she could fidget with the edges of her dress.

Wait, did that voice come from the ... big creepy bird thing? Was it a youma? Could youma talk?

"Creep," muttered Anser under her breath, voicing some of the thoughts in her head.

Chauvet Page

There was a thing in the park.

Or, at least, there was some amount of the time. Chauvet had been investigating it for a few days now, trying to take photos or video of the strange obelisk that had somehow populated the park overnight, but she found that any time she went to review the footage as Katie, it was somehow gone from the photo, flawlessly photoshopped out of the skyline where she'd seen it with her own eyes. She thought perhaps it was a trick of the light, or something reflective, but then she'd become Chauvet and see it on her phone, clear as day. Maybe she had special powervision when she was a page that surpassed her everyday seeing capabilities--it was a subtle difference, she supposed, but still pretty rad.

She'd been on the way to the park to get another round of pictures when she felt a strange, unnerving call, leading her to stand slack-jawed in a loose crowd of others, some like her, some different. The monument flickered and glowed, lighting the area in an ozone bath, and then Chauvet was somewhere else, standing in a room and only vaguely recalling how her limbs worked.

Chauvet counted her fingers and looked out of a slitted window at the park she used to be standing in, trying to piece together the puzzle in her head. She glanced back to respond to the sound of someone's voice, only to realize that there was a big-a** youma bird in the room with them, and she grimaced, looking wide-eyed at some of the more responsible looking adults in the room who didn't have the auric taste of an ash tray.

"Holy s**t, I didn't know they could talk," Chauvet murmured to no one in particular, trying not to glance at the youma because it had more eyes than she did, which meant she was severely disadvantaged for a stare-off. "...Anyone know where we are?"

Slidr
The sounds of voices muttering incoherant things nearby was what finally caused Slidr to stir. With a goran he rolled over onto his side, the last fifteen minutes to a half hour were coming back to him like an old fashioned slide show; images that came one at a time but didn’t really make sense, at least not with the headache he was currently experiencing.

Last thing he remembered was swimming laps at the gym then getting ready and waiting outside for Alex to come pick him up once he got off work. Then there was some song, familiar but not like a plagiarized melody he couldn’t quite place. Next thing he knew there was a blinding bright light and a weightlessness... then nothing.

Perhaps it was just a dream or a hallucination brought on by the migraine he was experiencing but with this being Destiny City, he knew better than that. Wishful thinking he supposed but one could always hope.

It was only when he moved to sit up that he realized that the clothes he had on definitely wasn’t what he wore to the gym; he had powered up, but when? Not that it mattered, ever since awakening as a Page of Mercury strange unexplainable s**t like this happened way too much; no point in questioning it.

The mix of signatures was a bit confusion but after a quick glance Slidr felt somewhat relieved that the blonde haired general wasn’t among them. Nonetheless that bird creature was creepy as all hell but the fact that nobody else was jumping at the chance to kill it was what ultimately what stayed his hand, at least for now.

Bernard

At first Bernard had been sleeping in the sunlight and warm weather that the Earth finally decided to deign the area with, even with the weird obelisk that had suddenly popped up. He had been near it in the park, next to a tree, belly-up trying to soak in as much sunshine as possible before the weather once again decided to try and throw another annoying snow storm at them.

He didn't realize that he had been transported elsewhere at first. He could only tell that he wasn't as warm as he had been for a bit. It wasn't until he had heard some voices that he started to open his eyes, and he realized that he was definitely... somewhere. He finally, but begrudgingly totally opened his eyes and realized that he definitely was somewhere that did not include the sun shining on his large belly.

His face scrunched itself up into what could only be described as 'not happy' and after a few tries, he managed to right himself and finally get back on his feet as he looked around. He could feel the aura of well... practically everything he had ever felt before, and was not happy. It meant something awful was definitely going on, and he was in the middle of it. He sat down on his hind legs, grumbling to himself a bit that this just wasn't right for a cat like himself.

General Arsenopyrite

Arseno groaned as he felt himself finally waking up. Something had happened, and he didn't like it. One moment he was in his apartment asking his brother where they should go out to eat to celebrate Jason's birthday, hearing some tune that he decided not to pay attention to, and the next it was like he had been knocked out and thrown against something suddenly. Not how he wanted to start his day.

He took his time in getting up, making sure that he didn't have any large wounds or other problems, and noticed that he had been powered against his will. Well, that was always a great start. And they were in some boring room where they clearly weren't in Destiny City anymore, or if they were he didn't know where. At least there were windows. If there was one thing that Tom disliked, it was being without a window. There were others here, he could sense them, and one much more powerful than he was. It seemed to be some sort of knight. He didn't feel any readiness to attack from anyone else, and decided that he was safe... for now.

He looked around, trying to see what exactly the room was like, though who knew how long they would be in here. But it seemed like something out of Star Wars or Star Trek or maybe even Galaxy Quest. He only wished that this was all a joke, but from what he had heard about the happenings at the fake Circus, he knew he had to be on his guard against... well anything at this point.

He decided to keep to himself for right now, though he did see a fat guardian cat who seemed to be complaining about the lack of sleep they had gotten and as much as he wanted to poke it in the stomach, he held himself back, trying to figure out... whatever this was.

Captain Tantalite

This was not how she'd planned on spending her evening. Certainly, she'd taken a handful of breaks to go on a circuit here or there. Sometimes alone, at least once with Marcasite who was.....

Who the hell are all these? she thrummed internally in thought as she recognized only one face - Arsenopyrite - and the rest were, mostly as far as she could tell, goodie two shoes. She dusted herself off as she stood up, half tempted to summon her weapon when it seemed the most alert of them was - well, the balance was skewed, to say the least. Tantalite hadn't been given her position for being an idiot, so she held off for now while she gained her bearings.

She moved to stand near Arsenopyrite for a moment, giving him a long look that translated roughly to something like 'Were you let in on anything big?' - it wouldn't have been the first time she had been dragged into the plans of a higher up, after all. Then, she moved off towards the windows that lined the far wall.

Frankly, she hadn't been expecting to see much of anything.

"Please tell me I'm recognizing this right," though she didn't clarify at all what she was potentially seeing.

As you milled about the beige-colored room, gazing out at Destiny City you left behind, something in the obelisk begins to shake. It’s deep and hidden but you feel the shockwaves like a small earthquake in your room. No debris is falling from the ceiling, but the light inside the room seems to dim slowly over time. Soon, barely any light could be detected save for the heartbeat-like pulsing of the electrical wire patterns scouring the walls, floor and ceiling. For a scant few moments, the shaking stops and everything is eerily quiet. You can hear your breathing and something that smells distinctively like burning wires reaches your nose.

Suddenly, the wall opposite the windows begins to lift, stone-on-stone grinding filling the room as light slowly floods your eyes. A whirring sound, though slight, seems to fill the air. Light pulses through the electrical wire pattern throughout this room.

This new room is similar to the room you were trapped in, but much, much larger. The ceiling is thirty feet high in this rectangular room, and a singular black door, eight feet tall, stands at the far end.

[THE FIRST TASK]

Your objective is to reach the door on the other side of the room. This seems easy enough. Walk from Point A to Point B, right?

Except, when you try this… The wall behind you closes, and the wall with the door? It begins to move. Wait, is it the door, or is it the walls of this room? No, the floor is starting to spin too! It’s the worst carnival ride on steroids! The floor even stops suddenly and starts spinning in the opposite direction to keep you off your footing. You have to get to the door to escape, and quickly! There are lights congregating on the walls, humming diabolically. If you take too long, you might get zapped.

Welcome to your first task.

[The Rules]

Roll one (1) d10 for each post and follow these prompts:

  • Roll 1-3: Your head and vision are swimming as the door swings wildly from one side of the room to the other. You stumble over your own feet and a laser shoots from the wall to hit you. As if this would motivate you to breakdance harder. Take 2HP damage.
  • Roll 4-7: This room sucks but you’ve managed to make a little progress towards the outer wall. The door has to come back sometime, doesn’t it?
  • Roll 8-10: You figured out a little pattern to the crazy, using the brief moments the floor stops moving to sprint towards the opposite wall, making some good distance!

[Special Rules!]
  • Koschei, being a bird, is immune to the shifting walls and floors, but he still has to roll! If he rolls 8-10, he can carry a passenger of any alignment. He can only carry ONE passenger PER 8-10 roll.
  • The passenger ADDS +3 to their latest roll!
  • Characters with magic or aspects that slow people down or effect flooring (such as ice, vines, earthquakes, etc) can cast that magic to slow down the floor’s spinning. They can only cast the magic ONE TIME, but everyone may add +3 to their following roll! Remember, you can only cast this magic ONCE, and receive the benefit ONCE!
  • You can roll once every half hour!

[Your goal is to reach a total of 60 for the group to escape into the next room.]

[The next step of the climb will begin in roughly 24 hours!]

Slidr 50/50

The moment the floor started shaking Slidr was on his feet far more alert than he had been when he first came to. Headache be damned but he wasn’t going to just sit on his a** when the building not only felt but also sounded like it was about to start falling apart around him.

However, to his surprise, once the grinding sound ceased its cringe worthy noise a door appeared. As did another room, an extension of the one they were currently in, but what mattered was there was a door. A way out? Probably not, there is no way they would be abducted from the park just to be released so easily but so long as they weren’t stuck in a room waiting around for someone to start picking them off or the monument to crumble around them, Slidr was willing to take a gamble and see what was on the other side.

It all seemed simple enough until he took a few steps into the room… then a few more. “What the f-?” A deep frown tugged the corners of his pursed lips. Ok, this is ******** up… Moving walls that opened into bigger rooms was one thing but did they have to make the floor move too?

Another step forward and the ground shifted beneath his foot. It went from trying to pull him back towards the starting point to spinning like a vinyl record. Nevermind the fact he was still somewhat foggy minded from that dreamlike state he had been in but the abrupt change damn near threw him off balance and into a wall; thank god for all those years doing parkour or he would have undoubtedly landed flat on his a**.
