Quinn quickly gathered his papers and his jacket before wishing the few people still around a good night. They all thought he was going home but what none of them knew was that he had a meeting to get too, one he was running a bit late for. Seung was the one who wanted Quinn along when they shot down the knight’s ancestor’s request for a earthly burial, Quinn just wanted to make sure they had everything they needed so had put off the meeting and now he was running late. Good going, he mentally scolded himself as he hurried away from the building. It didn’t take him long to get fully situated and powered up, the papers shoved in his jacket pocket, before heading towards the meeting point.
“Sorry, a phone call ran long.” Havasu apologized to his friend when he finally reached him. He really did hate to be late, especially when he was the one who had asked for the extra days to do a little bit more research.

“It’s fine.” He hadn’t been surprised with the other running late, things happened when you were as high up as Quinn was. There was just no way around it and Seung, now powered up as Venice, understood that and was accepting of the fact. “It isn’t us who have a time set to meet my ancestor. So no worries for being late.” “You will be fine - remember he does not hate. Is just more...reserved. You will see in Korea more since you will be around more. We still say we are shy people…” At least many he knew said as much, including himself. They were calmer and more reserved and someone like his ancestor, who was from a thousand years ago, was certainly the serious and silent type.
“He did not throw you out or say anything which would show his dislike of you.” The last time Quinn had been to his wonder, and met his ancestor, it had gone as well as he figured it would. Quinn, Havasu really, wasn’t disliked it was simply how his ancestor was. “Very old fashioned...very Confusion...and Buddhist.” Something he knew enough about, as he followed both as well though to a far lesser extent. He was a modern Korean and so the two were...not so followed, especially the Buddhism.
“Come, let us get up there so we can tell him and see what we will do instead.” He had with him a container, nice and large, filled with various things. Plates, candles, incense, a lighter, food and utensils and other things he figured he would need. He was going to set up a small, and proper, offering for his ancestor as a way to apologize for not being able to bring his remains home to Korea. The lunar new year was also coming up, and he wouldn’t be in Destiny City for it, so he wanted to put up an offering to his ancestor now instead. He had food but not a feast, since it was just for the one ancestor.

Hav kept his mouth shut. It wouldn’t help to express his disbelief that the elder Venice was ok with him, his friend would just repeat his earlier statement. Besides, no matter how much the current knight said that they were working on their own timetable Havasu still felt the time crunch. Maybe it was the knowledge that the trip was rapidly approaching so every spare moment needed to be accounted for. Every second needed to be used on checking and double checking all the little details, plans needed to be made for the inevitable issues that always crop up on extended trips. He didn’t want this thing to go sideways on them, not on their first real and extended trip to the company that they had gotten off the ground. A few scattered trips, a week here a few days there, didn’t really count in his mind. Not really.
Not that any of it mattered right then. Not when the talk with the ‘old man’ was the current issue. Could elder Venice even throw him out? Was that even possible? The young man kept his face pleasant but mostly blank, hiding his inner thoughts as only a socialite could… all those insufferable parties were useful for something. “Ready when you are,” Hav assured his friend as he helped with the container, a bit of surprised flashing over his face at how light it was. “Beam us up Scotty.” This time his grin was true and full of mirth. Space travel never really got old.

“That is another phrase I don’t know…” Something else for him to learn, there were still phrases and words he didn’t know or understand. His English was better, overall, though still accented. But he tended to butcher the language a lot less. The phrases though...some just weren’t things he knew or understood, due to cultural differences, there were also words that simply were...to an area or a group of people socially which he didn’t know. Most of the time he asked Terry about it later, or looked it up, there had been a few times that stood out...but nothing he would think on now.
Grasping the other he focused himself on his wonder and getting them both there, with the container, it would never get old getting up to his wonder. The place though...still needed work and still needed better indoor lighting. He needed to continue his work on the place.
When they did arrive inside the entrance to the theater it was as clean as usual, dust didn’t seem to continue to accumulate since he’d taken to being a knight, and the sound of rain outside could be heard. A soft pitter patter so nothing too serious, hopefully, he didn’t know much on the weather on Ganymede. He’d never seen snow though...that much he knew. At least the entrance was clean and the drapes he’d hung, over time, were still nice and clean. The velvet curtains heavy and trimmed in fur were perfect for winter...he needed to change them soon, he wanted to change them for the seasons...well the Earth seasons.
“Let’s go...ancestor first?” He asked looking at the other to see which he wanted to do, body or ancestor..both might be needs.

“From Star Trek? You know… Captain Kirk, Spock, and all them?” Hav would have started to explain but quickly waved the topic away. They didn’t really have time to go into popular western culture right then. They had a job to do, one that Venice quickly progressed by transporting them and their cargo to the old theater that was the squire’s wonder. It took a few moments for his body to adjust to the instantaneous travel and even longer for his eyes to become accustomed to the gloom of the theater entrance. Even after Venice’s cleaning and redoing the place was still pretty dark or at least darker then the brightness of Destiny City at night. The sound of rain outside gave some indication as to the reason for the gloom. They really needed to figure out a foolproof way of getting Venice some lights up here. Something besides jerry rigging s**t.
With a sigh Hav nodded, “Yeah ancestor first. Best get the hard s**t out of the way first.” The pluto squire figured the old man would have a fit which is why he brought the papers with him. It's hard to refute federal documents, granted the were web pages printed out so he wasn’t entirely sure the ancestor would believe them. Besides if he did agree to a swap, his body for a item, Hav could let Venice do his thing while Hav checked the paperwork to see what they could do with the item. It would be easier to handle then the body but that didn’t mean it would be a walk in the park.

“Don’t know Star Trek.” He’d never heard of it either. If it had been something on tv back home, or known of, than it was nothing he’d been exposed to. He hadn’t, when growing up, watched much for American tv shows. American shows were very different, at least in many cases, different from what he was used to and had grown up with. It was something he’d had to get used to, though he mostly was used to it by now, it had been amusing when introducing Terry to Korean tv especially the tv shows with interviews and games and other things.
“Raining….second time I’ve heard rain here…” The first time had been his first visit. Had that been around this time of year? He honestly couldn’t remember, though he should try and keep track of things and figure if there was some sort of season for it. He did notice though it seemed to be warm most of the time, rather than cold, at his wonder and he figured the whole of Ganymede was the same - warm.
“Mmm, then lets go. Hopefully we don’t get hurt.” Since that was, with his wonder, always a possibility. Heading for the theater itself, the seating area, Venice pulled out a flashlight and clicked it on. Dragging the container with him as he made his way inside. The chairs were mostly in place now, so there was an aisle to walk down, but it still did need some work. The stage however was still as broken as ever with it’s huge gaping hole and a floor you didn’t really want to trust...but sort of had to. He really needed to find a better way down there...but that would likely come with better lighting so he could see large areas rather than small patches that the flashlight lit up.

They really needed to try to get to the roof one of these days. If Venice said that it had only rained here twice as far as he knew then they needed to see if it was possible to get some solar panels up there. That would really help with the lack of light issue the Ganny squire was dealing with but that would have to wait until next time. They were here for a reason so they needed to get their asses moving. Time might move a bit differently here on Venice but it didn’t stop and there was too much they needed to get done today. Or really there was still a lot that Havasu needed to get done before calling it quits for the night. So when Venice started towards the theater Hav hurriedly caught up, the sooner they got done here the sooner he could head back and wrap up a few more things.
The chairs had been fixed but the stage was still a total mess. “We really, really need to work on getting you some stairs when we get back from Korea. It shouldn’t be hard to prefab something and get it installed,” I hope he mentally added as Hav dusted himself off from the descent into the theater basement. They needed to do stairs and lights and so much more. If only it was possible to get contractors up here, everything would get fixed up in a no time flat. Mentally cataloging everything he saw that could be fixed or cleaned or repaired during their dark trip through the basement it didn’t take long to reach the ancestor’s rooms at which point Hav stepped back and let Venice take the lead. The other squire was the one in charge here, Hav was just the back up.

“Mmm, would be easy for stairs. The stage floor is harder.” To bring it in and somehow piece together a stage floor and find a way to get down to the understage area. It was all things he wanted to do, and needed to do really, but building was something he knew nothing about. He’d find out though, because he wanted his wonder safe. He wanted it safe for when he and Terry adopted so he could safely bring his child here and let them wander. He needed it to be safe. It was bad enough that it was a danger to himself and other people who were adults, he didn’t need a child here.
Having spoken with his ancestor, Havasu backing him up when needed, it had been explained that he couldn’t bring the former knight of Venice’s remains back to Korea. He knew it bothered the older male, it would bother him as well, but his ancestor had accepted it. He wouldn’t have his descendent and a friend, and fellow knight, breaking laws or getting in trouble. Now though they had an item to bring back with them, and it wasn't something small, the item was his ancestors gayageum. The stringed instrument was in surprisingly good condition but was delicate simply due to what it was. It was something they could, from what Havasu said, could get through customs and bring into South Korea. The item would then be brought to its destination where it would be buried. He’d already told Havasu where it would be going, as well as his two cousins and his husband, so it would be a place they could all go.
Now though he had to not only bring the instrument back to Destiny City but before that he had a small altar to set up where his ancestors remains were. Food would be left and incense burned among other things. It would be as proper as it could be, though it would be small in size, it would be what it should be. Walking along down the darkened halls, a flashlight the only light they had, he turned to the other. “Thank you. This means a lot.”

Convincing Old Man Venice, it was a accurate moniker… maybe not the politest one but it wasn’t like Havasu would ever call him that outloud, hadn’t been too hard. The paperwork helped speed up the process but the Pluto squire had a feeling that he would have eventually understood. Now they had a large instrument to deal with rather than human remains, easier that's for sure. He was eyeing the instrument as he followed behind Seung, the box full of stuff in his arms while Seung carried the gayageum, when the other page thanked him. “Oh hey, no worries man. It was pretty simple afterall to convince your ancestor that modern laws wouldn’t make what he was asking feasible.” He shrugged as best he could while carrying the bulky box and nodded towards the dark halls. “Is it close? I kinda want to look up any possible redtape we might encounter for that thing.” A tip of the head indicated the instrument. “There shouldn’t be but we are running out of time to make any changes if there is so the sooner we get back the better. Besides I’m sure you would love to spend some time with Terry since I know you’ve been busy the last few weeks too.” Hav grinned at his friend, squishing the little spirit of jealousy that poked its head out of his subconsciousness.

“He would not want to cause trouble and be a burden to someone else, especially a descendant of his.” Shrugging a bit he smiled over his shoulder to the other. “You know how honor and not wanting to burden others is in Korea.” Having been there Quinn had likely seen that enough, people being overly polite and helping as much as they could. They didn’t like to make a scene much, it was just a thing. He was glad for his ancestor working with them as he had, and giving them something else to take instead. It would work, he was sure of it.
“It’s close. Once there I want to set up a few things. I want it to be as proper as it can be. Those in Korea who are Christian...they don’t leave offerings to the spirits of their ancestors. My family is Buddhist as we have been since his time. Even if we weren’t now I would...because he was.” Or is...since he sort of still was around, though not alive. He’d never really talked about religion with Quinn, he didn’t mention it to most, but it wasn’t a big thing. His family was Buddhist but they weren’t devout. They went to temple and followed some things but not everything, most people didn’t in modern days. Not modern families anyway.
Laughing he nodded his head. “Been very busy with work but also adoption things. We are close finally.” He could almost see the end in sight, sort to speak, they had almost everything finished.
The wall he stopped in front of seemed rather ordinary, the same as the stone walls all around them, only it was rounded because this was one of the towers that his wonder boasted. The only thing was that a slot, a small spot he’d found by some sort of instinct perhaps, where his ring fit. When the stones moved aside it let them both into a room. The room was simple with just a casket, a cloth covering it, and nothing else. He hadn’t brought a table to put the offering items, and food, on but he had brought a cloth which would work for now. That was why once he set the instrument down he took the container from Havasu and went to work on setting the cloth out and food was placed out on plates, chopsticks set out as well as a spoon and fork. Fruit was stacked and an incense holder came out as well as incense and a lighter.
“Many still hold to some traditions...even as Korea advances we hold many things from our past. My family still does this every year for the new year, on my mother and my father's side.” Bowing once, low with his forehead to the ground, Seung sat back up as he was knelt on the ground.
“I think his spirit will be satisfied. I will bring my cousins next time...after our trip.” After the New Year and the Olympics. He would bring his elder and his younger cousin and he would bring Terry, since he was family by marriage, and they could come here properly. When he stood up, everything arranged and left out, he was smiling. A warm feeling filling him. He might be doing this alone but this was still special and showing his ancestor the respect he deserved even so far from home.

Havasu nodded in understanding as Venice explained about his family religion but remained silent, he had seen some of the practices while in Korea when he was just sightseeing. Besides it was pretty common to see such things in some movies now, or at least in anime. Not that Hav really had time to watch tv besides it being on in the background for noise as he worked. He did speak though when the other squire mentioned the adoption, “Congrats man! You and Terry will make great fathers!” Hav really did mean it too. Venice and Terry would make great dads, it might not be the best city to raise a family but what city would? He was also a bit surprised as to how quick it seemed to have taken. The pluto knight silently marveled at his friend’s luck since Hav had heard some adoption stories where it took years for the adoption to go through. That's the wonder of money for you. If you have enough of it you could move the very heavens themselves. Or at least that's what most people thought, Hav personally thought that too much money was just a massive headache. One he could do without.
By the time his mental ramblings trailed off Venice had led them both to a blank stone wall and opened it somehow. Venice’s body kind of blocked Hav’s view of what he was doing so he couldn’t really see how it he had done it but it honestly didn’t matter because as soon as the ‘door’ opened Venice led him into a little room with a cloth covered box in it. It was very apparent that this was the final resting place for Old Man Venice. This room was his tomb… the entire theater was technically. That made the whole place so much more creepy.
Even as he mentally winced at the thought of the dilapidated theater being a giant tomb Venice took the box that Hav had been carrying and quickly set up the ‘offering table’ even if it wasn’t actually table. Echoing Venice’s bow with one of his own, although his was more of a fighting style bow and less of a kowtow, Hav showed his respect to the elder knight’s ‘earthly’ remains. This was what would ultimately happen to everyone. Death was inevitable but unlike on earth, here this poor man had none to remember him, which sucked a**. Showing him respect was the least he could do. “Yeah I think they will like that too. I know he would, he probably would love to hear about the whole celebration and everything anyway.” Hav turned and headed out of the little room, with their task here done they needed to head back. Time waited for no man.
“Ready to go?”
