Ciel lay in her bed in the hospital. Her neck was wrapped in bandages as were her arms. She had had to get alot of stitches, however the most painful part so far had been the phone call she had gotten from her grandparents. Her Pépé had been absolutely apoplectic about her getting so hurt and she had to talk her Mémé down from immediately charting a jet and flying straight to Destiny City.
Her maids had brought her a few comforts from home, like pillows, extra blankets, ect. She thought about the battle. Painite could have killed her, twice in fact. Had she managed to actually speak to something in the murderous general, she had already seemed a bit unhinged, more so than normal, perhaps she had pushed her over the edge. She would like to think that but only time would tell.
But still Hyperborea had to get stronger, her heart ached at not being able to save that man and even though she had given Painite a trashing she still would have likely died if not for Camelot's intervention and Painite's hesitation. That was unacceptable.
But first she had to heal, to that end she decided she would go to her wonder and meditate at her code piece absorbing its energies to heal faster. Then she heard a knock at her door. "Come in." She said.

When Carlee had heard that Ciel had gotten hurt, she had been utterly upset and confused and unhappy with herself. Why hadn’t she been there to help her girlfriend with whatever had been going on? Why hadn’t she been there to do…well…anything.
She made her way to the hospital as quickly as she could and after brief stop in the giftshop, made her way up to Ciel’s room, armed now with some flowers and a very soft teddy bear.
When Carlee heard the greeting, she opened the door and managed a small smile that was rather short lived.
Ciel looked terrible.
Swallowing, the brunette ran over to her girlfriend’s bedside and put the teddybear on her chest, before laying the flowers on the bedside table. “What happened? Who did this to you, Ciel? Are you going to be okay?” Her voice was full of concern and tears had began to collect in the corners of Carlee’s eyes. This was not how she had ever wanted to see Ciel…not ever.
“Next time you go out, make sure I’m with you, okay? Maybe I could have stopped this from happening…”
…Or gotten hurt herself…or any number of things.

Ciel decided this was actually the most painful part of this whole experience. Seeing tears in Carlee's eyes was worse than being stabbed a million times over. She squeezed the teddy bear she was given, she couldn't keep being reckless with her life not when doing so could hurt Carlee like this. She cupped her girlfriend's cheek. "Mon amour. I'm sorry, I should have called you but it happened so fast I felt a general's aura and I went to fight her I didn't think it would end up like this. I promise next time I'll call you."
"I'll be ok just need a bit of rest and time to soak up energy on my wonder." She tried to assure the other girl as she moved to sit up on the bed groaning a little as she did.
"Her name is Painite, she's a viscous general, when I found her she..." Ciel choked a bit thinking about it. "She murdered a man right in front of me. I was so mad I wanted to make her pay, teach her that pain is answered with pain. I don't know I guess I also wanted to try to reach her turn her from a path of violence to purification." She explained. "Well this is what I got in return, stabbed through in the back."

Carlee swallowed, frowning slightly and leaning into the hand on her cheek, nuzzling it slightly. “So…this Painite person is who did this? I’m so sorry…you shouldn’t have stayed if she killed someone! You’re still just a kid and if she’s as bad as you’re saying…Ciel you really could have gotten hurt worse than you did!”
Finally the brunette pulled away from the hand, shaking her head. “Don’t sit up. If you were stabbed through the back you really should just stay in bed and do what the doctors say, not sit up and talk about going to your wonder. You shouldn’t power up at all until you’re healed…why would you even try to help someone like that? If she had just killed someone, why would you think she would want to purify?”
It seemed silly. There were just people who were evil, that was all there was to it…it didn’t do anyone any favors to argue with them…you just had to deal with it and try to get rid of them before they got rid of you…and it seemed like this Painite had done a good job of almost getting rid of Ciel.
“You really should just sleep, you know…maybe I shouldn’t have visited…”

Ciel frowned slightly. "Carlee..I..I don't have that option I've been given a lot of power and its my duty to fight generals like her. I can't be scared of killers they are the exact kind of people who need to be fought. Taught that they can't just do as they please. I'm sorry but I can't turn my back on something like that." She prayed Carlee would understand since she was a senshi.
Ciel shook her head. "It's hard to explain but even though she killed someone it was like she was doing it to prove to herself that she was a monster like she was scared of becoming good of abandoning the way she's lived for a long time. She of so unhinged I thought maybe I could break through to her force to face the side of herself that was so scared of. I don't know I guess that was stupid." As Carlee moved away Ciel felt anxious and reached out to grab Carlee's hand interlacing her fingers with her's.
"Don't go, I'm glad you visited." She said to her girlfriend. "My wonder, it heals me much faster if I'm up there. Please Carlee will you help me go there, I owe you a date up there anyway. I don't want to stay in this stuffy room."

Carlee continued to frown and shrugged slightly. “I mean. I get it…but you shouldn’t go picking fights that you can’t win, Ciel…if it’s someone that you know is dangerous…you should call for backup or something…not just go in and get stabbed…”
She couldn’t wrap her head around it at all and shrugged, squeezing the hand that Ciel had grabbed onto. But…at the request she gave her girlfriend a look of utter confusion. “You…what to do what? Ciel…you’re in the hospital…now isn’t the time to be thinking about going to your wonder…the doctors and nurses would realize that you’re gone…and honestly, I don’t think it would be much of a date if you can’t do anything but lay there and heal…”
Carlee pulled her hand away from Ciel’s, looking both confused and disapproving. “We can go up there when they let out out of the hospital. You’ll feel better than anyway…I can’t put you at risk because you want to show off your wonder…that’s suicidal!”

Ciel didn't want to argue she was already tired and sore the last thing she wanted to do was have a stupid fight. "Ok." She said her hand falling to her side. "I won't go." It was a lie but Ciel was used to lying to the people she loved. It's something she had years of practice at now.
She had hopped Carlee would understand, she was friends with Ida afterall. Didn't she know about the bond between a transcended person and their wonder or homeworld.
'Fights you can't win' That stung. Was she that weak, Painite was not some General Queen in theory Hyperborea should be as strong as her. But in her heart she knew it was true. She had fought Painite multiple times throughout the years and each time she only barely managed to survive and often only because someone else saved her. She hated it she was supposed to be the one saving people not the other way around. Even her own girlfriend didn't have faith in her, not that Ciel could blame her.
"I'm sorry Carlee I just have alot on my mind right now." She said looking out the window of her room.

Carlee’s brows were furrowed and she sighed. “Okay…well…maybe when they release you, okay Ciel? I want to see your wonder, I really really do but…but we’ll get in trouble if we leave from here…besides, what if there are Negaverse people in the hospital and they realize that you’re gone but there’s no record of anything…you’re not supposed to power up where people can see you, you know…that can be so dangerous!”
She felt horrible for hurting Ciel’s feelings but…but she just couldn’t agree with this plan. It was too much.
“I’m…I’m gonna go home then, if you’re not feeling well…I love you, Ciel and I’ll be back soon…okay?” Carlee reached out and stroked the other girl’s cheek before drawing away and walking towards the door.
“Call me if you need me…” Quietly she left the room, feeling much worse than when she had entered in the first place.
