Name: Pemli
Age: 25, soon to be 26
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Weyr: Western Weyr
Rider Rank: Junior Weyrwoman
Previous Rank/Craft: Apprentice Harper/Archivist
Physical Description: Pemli is about 5'6 and weighs about 120 lbs. She had black hair that goes down to her shoulders that has blonde streaks scattered throughout it. She has soft grey eyes that are very kind and snow white skin. The clothing she wears are durable, but light enough for her to move in and not get overheated. It is usually very simple, but pretty, such as a pair of riding pants and a nice blouse. Her arms and legs are toned, but she still looks very graceful.
Personality: Pemli is a very gentle one, that doesn't want to see harm come to anyone or anything, not liking to even swat a fly. If she ever offends anyone, she is quick to find a way to make it up to the person. She will even go so far as to apologize for Ningesth's actions as well. Believing it is her duty to make up for her dragons words and actions, since dragons and their riders are extensions of one another. She is a caring individual who is more than willing to take time out to comfort another or offer advice to someone who needs it. If someone wants the last glass of klah or meatroll, she is alright with allowing them to get it first. She will go into the infirmary and sit with people, trying to bring some cheer in a dark situation. Other days, she will spend time in the creche, telling the kids some of her favorite stories. In anyway she can, she is always up for helping others and doing what she can to make Western Weyr an even better place. This is whether she is on the ground or in the air fighting with her flamethrower. If it means people are safe, she will fight the silvery menace, even if it scares her.

Unfortunately, Pemli's gentle nature leads her to be emotionally fragile when it comes to people's words or actions towards her. When she is out in public, she tries hard not to show how much it hurts when people call her names or criticize her, even if it takes all of her willpower to do so. Unfortunately, sometimes it becomes too much for her and she cannot hide it. If she is lucky, she can get away, but this means sometimes she could walk off in the middle of a conversation or when doing something. She will at least try to politely excuse herself before she leaves, not wanting to head off without at least a quick word. Once she is alone or with those she trusts, she will pour her heart out to her dragon or loved ones. As soon as she is calm, she will go in search of who she was with and make up for her actions. Worse case scenario, she can't retreat and has to just stay where she is. When that happens, she freezes up and hides within herself. If someone she trusts is near, she will duck behind them, no matter how important the conversation is. She becomes unresponsive and it takes Ningesth or a loved one to snap her out of it. Like when she can walk away, she will find ways to make up for her actions to all involved. Her gold dragon has been working hard to keep the words and actions of others from hurting her rider.

She is also too obliging, trying too hard to make everyone happy. That could mean spending one of her rest days being a shoulder for others to cry on or giving a bubbly pie she really wanted to another. This leads to the problem of spreading herself too thin, sometimes overbooking herself. She might go half a day to a day without eating, because she is too busy helping others. Or she is late to a meeting because someone asked her to stay with them after they failed to impress at a hatching. This also leads to her being submissive, feeling like she can't say no because everyone's needs are more important than her's. She will take on extra paperwork that someone else should be doing, just because obviously they have other things to do that need their time. This submission does not mix well with her uncertainty in herself and things around her. She may have a wonderful idea, but she isn't sure about it, so she will just keep quiet. Or she thinks a move during thread won't work, but she doesn't think it is her place to say anything because it came from the suggestion came from the wingleader. Ningesth and those close to her have to remind her how valuable her opinions and time are. Also, to allow herself some time alone, even if it feels selfish.

When she does get the courage to speak, Pemli's words prove to be a powerful blend of wisdom and understanding. She has acquired a lot of knowledge in her studies of Pern's history, including the insight into why people have done the things they have. This allows her to apply that knowledge to present day, understanding the actions of those around her. This allows her to better advice people on what the best course of action is for their specific situation. This understanding of actions allows her to think on her feet, so she is prepared for anything that may come her way. Her interactions with those of the Weyr has allowed her to learn the needs of others and how she can help, including for her Weyrmate. She knows the hearts of people and does everything she can to be understanding of what they are going through. As long as she learns balance, her understanding can help those around her be the best version of themselves. Maybe with help from those dear to her, she can learn to use that understanding and wisdom to help herself as well.

Positive Trait List Gentle, caring, Wise, Understanding
Negative Trait List Emotionally fragile, overly obliging, Submissive, Uncertain

History: Pemli was born in Western Weyr, the only child to her two loving parents. Her father is a Beastcrafter Journeyman, who specializes in training all kinds of creatures, including firelizards. Her mother is a brown rider and a dragon healer, which keeps the older woman quite busy. Her mom spent what time she could with her daughter, but it was Pemli's father that was mostly responsible for raising her. The young Pemli used to help her father with training the animals, even debating following her father into the Beastcraft when she was old enough to choose a craft. When her mother was home, the young girl loved listening to stories about the older woman's life as a rider or helping her take care of her brown. Thanks to her parents, she learned about all the different creatures that called Pern home. It also awoke in her a thirst for knowledge, making her want to learn even more about the world around her. This love of learning is what changed her mind on what craft she wanted to pick up, deciding to be a harper instead of her father's craft.

Soon after she became eight turns old, with the blessings of both her parents, she headed to Harper Hall. It was hard for her to leave her parents for awhile, but she knew she could visit when she had time. Then there was her best friend, Phenli, who was off on his own path in life. She promised she would keep in touch with him, even asking her father if she could borrow a flit while she was gone. Her father did her one better, giving her a firelizard egg that hatched into her very own flit. Since she had a deep love of knowing about the world around her, as soon as she arrived at Harper Hall, she decided to become an archivist. She would pour herself into learning how to decipher Record hides and writing that information down. She would listen to all the stories others told quietly, soaking in everything and writing down anything she would want to pass on to future generations. She studied everything her master would teach her, planning to be the best she could be. Of course, in the back of her mind, she still had dreams of being a rider one day. She didn't know if it would ever happen, so she was perfectly content being an Archivist, if she never got a dragon.

When she was fourteen turns old and home on a break, her mother suggested that she try her hand at being a candidate, knowing her desire to be a rider. So knowing that she could continue working on her craft in her free time, she decided to give it a try as a candidate. It was only a turn later, when her life took another turn, in a way she would not have imagined. While she was watching the hatching, a beautiful gold dragon popped out of her shell and wasted no time making her way over to the girls. Without a moment of hesitation, the baby gold focused her eyes on Pemli, before bursting into the rainbow gaze of impression. She let the stunned girl know she could see a strength of character in her. The two of them were going to do great things, so said the hatchling. Once she got over her new dragon's direct approach, she realized she was not the only one with a new title, her best friend had a dragon too. A bright smile came to her lips when she saw it was a bronze, which she felt very fitting for the new P'enli.

Over the course of the next turn, Pemli and Ningesth absorbed everything they were taught. Since golds are not as highly regarded at Western as they are at High Reaches, the pair worked hard to be the best they could be. When their training was complete, Pemli helped the Weyrwoman as best as she could, while continuing to gather knowledge when she had a chance to. Despite her best friend heading off to work on his craft more once their Weyrling training was over, she made sure to stay in contact with him and let him know what was happening here at home. It was during P'enli's absence that the two of them realized that their feelings for one another had deepened. A few turns after they impressed to their dragons, the two of them became Weyrmates, a relationship that felt right to both of them. Even though he had to stay away longer, they continued to keep in touch. When Thread returned, she was the one that alerted and told him he was needed at home. When P'enli returned to Western, they managed to get a Weyr together and spent what free time they could together. Her family will do everything they can to protect their home and keep Thread at bay.
Other: Nothing at the moment

DRAGON
Name: Ningesth
Age: 10, almost 11
Color: Gold
Size: 46'
Physical Description: Ningesth is a bright gold on most of her body, except the whitish yellow spots along her underside, mouth, and tips of her claws. She also has dark spots on her face, neck, back, top of limbs, top part of tail, and where her wings touch the rest of her body. Her agility is fairly decent, for a gold, but she really shines when it comes to her stamina. She could stay up for quite awhile, which makes her a force to reckon with, whether during thread or in flight. Her eyes are usually a bright blue, meaning she is quite content.
Personality: Ningesth is very caring, just like her rider, at least most of the time. She makes sure everyone around her is taken care of and that all their needs are met. However, the moment anyone messes with those she cares about, she will do whatever she has to when protecting them. This goes especially for her rider, she will not let anyone take advantage of the soft spoken woman. She will get into a person's face and not back down until they apologize for what they did. Her rider worked hard for where she is and she will not let anyone take that from her. She is always looking out for others, wanting everyone in her Weyr to be safe and happy.

Unlike her rider, Ningesth is not known for being soft spoken, she will have her voice heard. Someone doing something stupid, she will call them out on it and tell them what their actions could do to themselves or others. She has no problem showing others that she is not afraid of anyone or anything. The only one who can talk her down when she goes too far is her rider, she is very fond of Pemli. If something is troubling the woman, the gold will go out of her way to make the other happy and show her how truly special she truly is. She is also known to be very decisive, having no trouble with making decisions. She is very much too the point, at least she tries to appear that way. Only those close to her, especially her rider, knows there are times when she is uncertain or worried.

So, I'm reading a lot of what makes Pemli a sweet person, but I don't see any actual flaws. What about her would drive someone crazy, if they didn't like her? Overly sensitive can be problematic, but what happens when she's overly sensitive? It doesn't sound like she acts out. All of these things could be flaws, but right now they don't go that far.

I'm happy to assist you if you need some help drawing those out.

Approved. However, to me she really still seems like she does not have any real negative traits. Not to the extent of being real flaws in her character. If you need some help in the future coming up with ideas, feel free to drop me a line.
