Sinoite's missions for Zircon really were simple, though dirtier then his normal civilian life. Did he even have a normal life anymore? He was just basically a b***h boy in the negaverse. They called them lieutenants. Grunts.

She had made him a grunt, albeit exactly like he had asked in order to spare his life, but it stung none the less. Rumors around was that his fearless cruel leader had 'recruited' his teammate or whatever, and their transition had been fully by choice.

It bugged him to no end, but he did as he was told. Just as he did now. They were set to meet at the tower that had suddenly appeared in Destiny City, only visible to the powered eyes and conduct whatever research they could on it.

Sin sighed, using his sketch book that he brought to fully detail out the towers appearance. It was a construct like something he hadn't truly seen in person, so perhaps having the sketch would help.

If one were to crane their head and try really, really, really, really hard, they would see a glimmer of gold above or maybe a flash of a colored crystal and the black mass attached to it.

If they were unlucky, all they would take note of would be six pairs of red eyes that blinked back at them in the darkness.

Overhead, Sinoite and his companions, when they arrived of course, would hear loud echoing, "Ca-caw!" over and over again.

Sweetite wrinkled her nose as she heard the loud call up above, the yammering of some horrible, oversized bird that had decided to roost up on the monument like it owned the place.

While being teleported wasn't her favorite mode of transportation (seeing as she'd been teleported all of only a handful of times already), it certainly beat her peer's walking to the meeting place, so the corrupt did her best at holding in the sneer as she noticed the Lieutenant nearby.

"Oh look, ma'am," she cheerfully commented as one hand rose to gesture in the direction of the soft looking boy, "It looks like Sin made it on time... with his doodlepad, even."

Offering the boy an overly saccharine smile, she forced a giggle.

"Maybe it'd do you better if you took notes in that little thing instead of trying to draw?"

Zircon was feeling mildly inconvenienced. She had research to do and grants to write, and somewhere in between that and managing quotas she was supposed to generate some sort of curriculum to ensure that her two newest pupils survived a week on the streets with their abilities. It was a life she'd chosen for herself when she decided to bring Sweetite into the fold, but since then she'd also gone and spared some other poor idiot, just because he'd had the sense to beg for his existence. She was starting to think she was going soft.

And now there was this mess, some...building that appeared out of nowhere, with no explanation, only visible when she was Zircon and not her meeker half. She didn't have time for strange monuments of unknown allegiance, but the curiosity nagged and nagged until she had to cut the day as a loss and allow herself the chance to explore. Zircon called her subordinates, chalked it up to herself as a training exercise. That could still be productive, couldn't it?

She stepped forward into the park with her corrupt in tow, frowning when she found herself in the grass instead of on the path as intended. "...Yes, he did," Zircon responded to Sweetite, glowering down at her feet. Had she miscalculated, with another party in tow? It would have been energetically inefficient to gather both of her subordinates before coming here, but she wasn't about to let Sweetite make the journey alone. The city wasn't safe, and the energy she as a senshi would just be a target on her back.

Zircon was pretty sure Sinoite knew how to use public transportation. He would be fine. She approached her lieutenant with slow, careful steps, ignoring her senshi's little jab except to glance back with a raised eyebrow. Rivalries were healthy, after all, but right now they needed to focus on the task at hand.

"What have you noticed so far?" the general asked, leaning over him to try and make sense of his scribblings. She looked past him to the monument and then above, her eyes squinting. Something was up there, circling like they were carrion. "Did you see that we're being watched?" Now, like any other time, was a teaching moment, and there was much these two needed to learn.

Sinoite gave Sweetite the best smile he could muster as he rose from his perch and brought the pad over. The drawing was presented for his journal, where he had marked down small notes of the structure he had drawn.

"There is no doors or windows. No entrances or exits." He smiled at Sweetie, "As you were inconvenienced with bringing Sweetite, I'm sure, I've already made my way around the area as well, and it seems that not much...." He mulled on the word...."Life is around." The corrupt was ignored in favor of his attention returning to the general.

To her question, his gaze raised at the small caw of the dark bird.

"I can't make it out clearly." He squinted, "But i see a flash of gold higher up there."

While the bird didn't seem inclined to move, when Sinoite said not much life around he cawed, loudly, as if he was offended.

A moment passed and all four wings were thrown to his sides and displayed, like a warning before the creature pushed itself up into the air and began circling the pillar like vultures might circle their next meal.

Several more ca-caws would be heard, a reminder that there was life around and if they weren't carry their little get together would turn into an unfun party

She had sense enough to reel her attitude in as her superior gave her a reprimanding look. Her chin was still poised high and proud as she raised her slightly upturned nose at the lieutenant.

Sweetite was tempted to comment that her sketch would no doubt look both more efficient and presentable but that discussion would have to wait until Zircon was out of earshot.

At the mention of them being observed, the young woman glanced up at the skies and bit the inside of her cheek. There was a giant bird of sorts - much larger than any bird she'd ever seen out in the wild before. While she was new to the world of the Negaverse and the creatures Zircon had explained existed in its realm, she couldn't help but find herself incredibly uncomfortable with the ominous presence up above.

“Would you like me to use my magic?” She offered, both in an attempt to be helpful to her General and remind the good lieutenant of his uselessness and very non-magical self.

The general's expression was impassive as she received Sinoite's report, noting many of his observations with her own studied glance at the building in question. "Sweetite isn't an inconvenience," she remarked, something in her tone a warning to behave, and then she was looking back up at the obelisk, at the dark bird circling the group of them. The shimmer of a gold charm made her eyes narrow.

"No," she replied to Sweetite, a hand lifted to stay her eager senshi subordinate. "There's no sense in wasting your magic on it, it won't hurt us." She placed a hand on Sweetite's shoulder, her lips pursed with her gaze still focused on the youma.

"But if it tries to talk to you, ignore it," she added to the both of them, unable to hide the disgruntled crinkle to her nose when she tore her focus away from the youma and watched the obelisk. She was not afraid of a youma that spoke in riddles and lies, not anymore, not as a general with those who looked to her for guidance.

Zircon made her approach to the obelisk slowly, cautious but sure. She paused only when the base of it began to warp itself with a dark opalescence, taking on the texture of black glass. Frowning, she looked back at Sinoite, as if he was somehow holding out on information. "Has it done this before?"

Sweetite was a inconvenience, to Sinoite. He didn't make a sound though, as he narrowed his eyes at Sweetie behind Zircons back and then made a gagging face at her.

Mostly because what good was her magic anyways? About as helpful as him throwing his reindeer bells, he was sure. Plus watching her struggle to make herself useful in someway made him a bit more smug. He offered detailed sketching and notes Sweetie and the best you could offer was.....well whatever her magic was.

"What's the deal with the Crow?" Raven? Black Bird? Whatever it was. "Done what?" He looked at his general, as he remained in his position and the tower had not changed for him. It remained normal to his eye. His gaze cocked a bit to the side to see if there was an opening or something appeared that he had not sketched before.

The bird, it seemed, was starting to fly lower and lower, creeping closer to the trio that had gathered at the base of the strange monument that had become his latest perch.

Red eyes blinked, a shuttering effect that had at least three open at time, and he dived, perhaps to spite the words that had come from the general's mouth.

Koschei's beak opened and he screeched when he was close enough to the gathered.

Quote:
Raven's Screech: Letting out a screeching caw, Koschei produces a sound wave that's ear splitting and the force of the sound wave pushes the targets back or brings them to their knees.

Duration: 20 seconds

Then, he promptly took advantage of the effects to try and steal the shiny, metal contraption that made up Zircon's leg.

Her lips pursed at her General's gentle refusal of her services and her eyes widened even larger when Sinoite had the audacity to make a face at her. At her!

One finger (the middle one, in particular) rose to wave itself at the tall boy but the large shadow looming overhead grew larger and was quick to distract the corrupt senshi from her personal spat with the other subordinate.

Even if she had wanted to defend herself and her companions from the monster, the loud screech that boomed through the skies had her falling straight down to the ground. Hands flew up to cover her ears as her eyes shut tight - by god, what in the world was that thing???

"G-General???"

Zircon raised an eyebrow at Sinoite, motioning flatly with one hand to where the monument was clearly turning black. She swore, if this ended up being one of those white dress/blue dress tricks, she was going to have a conniption.

"Sinoite, look at the base of the structure--" she began, voice thin, but she found herself interrupted by a flurry of feathers and a screech that drove her to her knees. It rattled her bones and set her teeth to gritting, pain competing with the white-hot fury that accompanied being tested by a youma. What was that thing, except a wretched example of how to lose control of chaos and become a mindless beast? Even her subordinates were better than this dismal creature, green as they were, for they at least kept their starseeds, their humanity in check. Youma were nothing more than leftover foot soldiers, and if this one thought it could be anything more than it was by being cheeky, then it had a big storm coming.

Zircon rolled when the beast came for her, cringing against the feeling of talons on metal, but she used the momentum of its dive to her advantage, shoving the bird away. In the space between her hands and youma she summoned her weapon, and with all the strength she could muster she slammed down, intending to break each and every little bird bone in its body. It might die, but not permanently--the important thing was that this youma learn its place.

"You will not cross me or my subordinates ever again. Do you understand?"

"General, I would not lie to you." He moved in closer to the tower, and the general to inspect as well. As he did though, the tower turned pure black and his eyes widened in shock. "It changed colors." He stepped back away, and the tower returned to its original state. Then back in.

"It reacts to us moving closer to it?" He waited, "But individually maybe?" As he stepped back in, he took over looking deeper into it, using whatever artistic eye he had for detail. He didn't get to enjoy the inspection long as the lovely youma came sweeping in for Zircon's leg, it's screech dropping him to his knees.

He wouldn't do much with jingle bells, but he flanked his general's side, crawling over to be closer to her, in case (and not the side with her leg because if Koschei came swooping in, he wasn't that valiant to stop a bird with his body.

He didn't really have to do much now, since Zircon slammed the bird in the ground.

"Would her magic work on it?" He asked Zircon, referring to his...teammate.

Koschei had expected a plethora of things to happen when he'd gone after the blonde general's leg.

Being smacked down and flattened by her boomerang had, unfortunately, been one of the outcomes he had been expecting. He had not, however, expected it to hurt enough that he'd nearly been dusted with one blow.

Carelessness on his part and he was left to push himself onto his talons, shaking his entire frame until ruffle feathers fell back into place. Pieces of cracked crystals fell like feathers, disintegrating into dust before they'd even hit the ground.

"What is there to understand?" He asked, beak open but unmoving when he cocked his head, eyes blinking in succession at her.

He hopped forward, turning his attention to the corrupt for a moment and looked very much like he was going to do something.

"A bird sings, but the reason is not always clear. When the reaper calls, what you say means nothing."

The bird was enormous, far larger than any avian creature she'd ever seen in any zoo or park. It was monstrous and held a power that had sent them all to knees with its loud, ear-piercing screech.

Her heart thumped in her chest as palms protectively covered her ears, eyes wide as she watched the vicious thing go for her General, of all people. It hadn't picked on one of the greenhorns, it had gone for the seasoned veteran and it took Sweetite a moment to realize that it had determined Zircon's shiny metal leg to be the next trinket for its collection.

Zircon was not having it, however, showing her own vicious display of aggression against the youma beast. It gave the young corrupt enough time to scramble her way closer to the pair, eyes keeping an eye on the shimmering crystals that fell from the wings, disappearing before they had time to land on the ground.

The bird spoke - a novel trick - but the words were gibberish at best.

"The Reaper?" Her voice was raspy, trying to gain confidence the more she spoke. "General, what is it talking about?"
