Jade had started to feel a little stir crazy as of late, the desire to get out and about and do something an increasing feeling fluttering around in her chest.
Things with Levi were still rocky at best, and crumbling at worst, so she was a bit desperate to do anything that could keep her mind off of the fact that if it wasn't work or other undesirable activities, her boyfriend didn't really care to spend time with her. This, of course, led to her reaching out to her only well, friend because while Jade Argent was a familiar face and she knew many, she was close to very few.
She had Porsha and Levi, but they were more than friends and then, then there was perfect little Cerisse who had been everything the woman had hoped for when she had recruited her.
At least, she told herself, at the end of the day she had Cerisse.
Which was exactly why she had requested a patrol, something to stretch their legs and, hopefully, result in some sort of brawl that she could exert all of her jittery energy and nerves into.

The sheet music that Cerissé had been dedicating her evening energy to just hadn't been coming along. Every time she plugged it into the program that had been so helpfully set up on her laptop for her, the tune was off. She knew she needed a break from it, but with a limited number of hobbies, there wasn't much else to do with her time. At least, not as she was. The chime of her phone - a default setting for it, but at least not the default setting for it - quickly offered an alternative for her. A text from the ever so lovely Jade. Many a good thing had happened in her life because of the woman, and she was one of a spare few that Cerissé would have called 'friend'. Both as herself and the darkness inside of her that perhaps could have subsisted on it's own. A patrol, hmmm? [ Text to Jade: Sounds delightful. Give me 15 minutes and I'll be there.] Which was enough time to double check her appearance (not that it would particularly matter for long), put on shoes that were decent to walk in, and walk to the park. An uneventful affair, by all means. At the park, it was really a matter of finding the biggest and flashiest landmark to see if Jade was already there, or to wait - not that Jade ever left her waiting long.

Once she had received a text from her friend, Jade set about towards the park. It wasn't a far walk from where one of her two apartments, or even the office, resided and so she had forgone taking a vehicle or even using her preferred method of transportation when available - Teleporting.
Arriving approximately ten minutes into the fifteen minute time quote Jade kept an eye out for her paled haired companion.
When the woman showed up, Jade's smile was a bright one. "Hey Cerissé," she greeted with a wave of her hand, long legs carrying her over to the woman in a few strides.
"A treat to see you as always." And to have company of any sorts, but especially a friend.
"Figure we can do a loop or two?"

She'd never really expected to be the first one there, finding the white haired young woman already there and waiting for her - a fairly common scene, really. "I hope you weren't waiting too long," of course, Cerissé knew she hadn't been. She'd been perfectly on time, after all. Any waiting was of Jade's own volition. Still, she offered her a smile and a small wave of her own. "You're looking well," though Jade seemed to have had some thoughts weighing her down at the Christmas season and Cerissé suspected they had not resolved themselves at all. So she'd do her best to keep such topics at bay. "I'm definitely ready for a few rounds," she confirmed with a nod. "The usual or a different circuit this time?"

"Of course not," she replied easily, waving a hand to dismiss the notion. Her friend was always on time, within at least two minutes of her quoted time and Jade had a tendency to show up earlier rather than later, in most cases.
"Well enough," she agreed, her smile slipping slightly. She wasn't as openly downtrodden as she had been during the holidays, because things have been new back then and she'd tricked herself into thinking things would get better, and she was grateful that she could at least put on a good face.
She couldn't be worrying her followers after all.
"Let's loop through the park, heard there's been some activity in the area," she paused to survey their surroundings and determine if it was safe for them to power up. "Ready?"

While Jade went through the motions of being fine, Cerissé allowed a small about of doubt to linger behind her slow nod of acceptance. She wouldn't be a good friend if she didn't at least hold onto a small amount of concern, after all. "I haven't heard anything," but she was also just a fresh Captain and the amount of news she was trusted with still left her a little wanting (and more than a little annoyed, "but your sources have never been wrong before." While Jade did her survey, Cerissé also did a panning glance around to check the immediate area. "I'm ready if you are."

It was easier for Marcasite to readily get news when she was watching the civilian side so closely. It was a regular part of her job, keeping up to date on what was trending in the world and some weird animal behavior from the park had caught her interest when it'd appeared more than once.
"Less private work, more public work knowledge," Jade explained with a wave of a hand. Then, a moment later she had shifted from simple Jade Argent into capable Captain Marcasite. "Figured things would be more managable between two captains if things went south upon investi..." She trailed off suddenly distracted when she turned her head.
In the center of the park stood a tall monument pillar that hadn't been there before.
A white gloved hand reached out to grab a hold of her companion. "Do you see that? That wasn't--"demon_pachabel forgive me i thought i tagged this

"Mmmm, so I just need to follow the right channels," not that Miss Cerissé didn't pop open YouTube (sigh) on occasion to keep an eye on her friend's channel. Just that some things weren't spoken of even in those situations. Jade-Marcasite had changed over even before Cerissé did, so the beginning of the woman's question earned a small look of confusion before Tantalite joined the party to a similarly- "What th-" reaction. While Tantalite wasn't nearly as touchy-feely, she still found herself stepping somewhat closer to Marcasite, a frown upon her lips. That was a very big tower. "Didn't know why had plans to relocate the Washington Monument's big brother...." it was perhaps the closest to a joke ever-so-serious Tantalite ever would get, but it was perhaps a decent answer to the question Marcasite was leaving open.

Marcasite hadn't realized that her companion hadn't changed quiet yet until she was reacting. Pale brows were furrowed and she had released Tantalite's arm, already striding forward to investigate.
Out came her communication tablet, pulling the pen open as she pulled up specs. A photograph was taken, though she didn't look to examine it closely before she was searching the databases for any reports.
She came up with nothing and she wrinkled her nose.
"That wasn't there before. C'mon, let's check it out."

Should she have been documenting this tower as well? Tantalite furrowed her brows as Marcasite expertly began to go through the motions, the less experienced woman following up in short order to at least offer corroborating evidence to whatever else would be submitted. She really needed to get a nice outline of procedure, or something like it. "Nothing? Then it's definitely something those no-gooders are up to..." it had to be.. right?

Marcasite's nose wrinkled when she snapped the tablet shut and tucked the pen into the breast pocket of her uniform before she reached for Tantalite's hand. It was unnecessary, her protege could handle herself and certainly didn't need to be hand held but it was for the taller woman's own needs that she gripped the hand tightly.
She didn't know what they were about to get into, but she was, secretly, grateful for the distraction and something to focus on.
"Probably," she mumbled absent-mindedly, already striding forward. "No way to find out except first hand, hm?" She didn't wait for an answer, fully expecting Tantalite to come with willingly, hand holding or not.
