Welcome to The Pale Monument event! This event is user-run in two parts. This post will be updated as information becomes ICly available. This event is not mandatory by any means. You can choose to participate or not, it’s completely up to you! You can choose to have certain characters participate in the first half but not the second, and vice-versa. Unusual characters like chibis, cats and PC youma are welcome. ICly, this event takes place over the course of 14 days (give or take how things go during the event). There will be prizes in the form of Crown Tokens, GCash giftcards and more! This is Part One! Here, you're able to make personal threads - regs, battles or solos - to interact with the Monument using the effects listed below. I apologize for any confusion!

A colossal obelisk has appeared in Destiny City! It is roughly as tall as a ten-story building (170ft), and takes up about half a city block’s worth of land space at its base (400ft x 400ft). In daylight, the obelisk appears to be a sandy beige color and made of a singular stone. At night, it seems to shine an eerie gray. There are no noticeable markings, carvings or scratches marring the perfect surface. There are no windows or doors. Oddly enough, the obelisk appeared without any noise, seismic activity or power signature. One might say it simply blinked into existence one night. All wildlife capable of movement seems to have vacated the immediate vicinity and are incredibly agitated by the obelisk’s presence. Animals will not venture within a city block of it in any direction. Birds do not appear to fly near it, and seem to give the monument a very wide berth. The obelisk cannot be seen by anyone except those with powered identities and intelligent youma. If the character is not in powered form, they cannot seem to see the obelisk, even if they are aware of its existence and have seen it previously. The news does not report of its presence, and the citizens of Destiny City seem oblivious to it. People stop venturing near that end of town, but they cannot explain why, even if asked. Answers vary but are evasive and confusing. People simply do not travel there for any reason, and create excuses as to why. All human activity in the immediate vicinity stops and/or relocates without much opposition. Construction projects cease, offices close temporarily (for “remodeling” or other relatively normal reasons), food deliveries are rerouted. No large apartments or housing projects are in the area, though smaller houses exist near the park. Those houses are oddly abandoned, with residents suddenly needing to visit relatives in other places. Powered individuals are able to venture near the obelisk over a period of one week. There is a great and heavy, oppressive aura surrounding the obelisk which produces fear, anxiety and aversion. Every day, the aura loses power, allowing for easier tests and examinations.

When venturing close to the monument as a powered character, various effects can occur. These effects depend on your character’s class and alignment. Groups of different types of characters will produce these effects simultaneously, but certain effects are only visible to those of a particular class and alignment. For example, Dark Mirror and a Negaverse Captain will experience two very different things, even if they were together at obelisk. Dark Mirror Senshi Dark Mirrors who approach and interact with the monument with find that it suddenly becomes a mirrored surface, rather than stone. This change is immediate, within a blink of an eye. Dark Mirrors, regardless of rank, cannot mirrorwalk or otherwise use their powers on this surface. They produce no reflection. Any speech made by the Dark Mirror or companions while the obelisk is reflective is repeated back to the speaker, though the repeated speech is backwards, heavily distorted, or in a completely different language. Only DMC can hear the monument, though speech from non-DMC companions can be repeated. When the Dark Mirror leaves the immediate area, the obelisk reverts to stone. Dark Mirror communication via mirror shard is garbled and strange while in the presence of the monument. Wraiths are difficult to control. For Example: DMS Sailor Awesome and companion, Captain Badass, both approach the monument. The monument becomes a reflective surface, but only Sailor Awesome can see this. Captain Badass comments that he loves waffles. The monument repeats, “selffaw era emosewa” in garbled, backwards speech, but only Sailor Awesome can hear this. Captain Badass might think Sailor Awesome is really weird, but waffles are still great! The Negaverse Negaverse officers, youma/half-youma, Chaos senshi and cats who interact with the obelisk find it ripples oddly and becomes covered in black obsidian. Staying within the obelisk’s immediate area results in the monument draining energy from the Negaverse character at a slow and steady rate. Chaos senshi’s magic is simply absorbed into the monument if the senshi chooses to attack it magically. If struck with a weapon, the weapon seems to adhere to the surface of the obelisk, but returns to the wielder via teleportation (or boomerang effect, or it could just drop off the surface! Whichever you choose) if they leave the immediate area. The obelisk returns to stone when left alone. Negaverse tablets and other communication devices act strangely while in the presence of the obelisk. Teleportation is less precise. Cats cannot perform upgrades or produce items. Human and senshi form is impossible to assume for Mauvians. For Example: Captain Badass approached the monument and finds it’s suddenly become covered in obsidian. This makes him angry, so he wields his waffle-iron-mace against the surface of the stone and it becomes stuck. This makes him angrier. No matter how hard he pulls, his beloved waffle-iron-mace remains stuck. When he moves about 30 feet away from the obelisk, the mace drops to the ground, freed. He approaches again and the surface still changes, but the weapon remains on the ground. Wafflelujah! Knights Knights who approach the obelisk find it produces a strange electricity in the air, causing their skin to tingle. It is not painful, but prickly. Weapon strikes cause the weapon to adhere to the surface of the monument, but returns to the wielder if they leave the immediate area. Physically touching the monument or using one’s magic or Aspect upon it/near it produces that Knight’s magical effect on the Knight themselves. Any Summons the Knight uses while in the vicinity is copied and reproduced, though the copy is distorted and less complex than the original. The copy disappears when the Summons is dismissed. The monument doesn’t appear to change physically. Knights cannot travel to their Wonder while in the vicinity, and their signet rings do not appear to function normally. For Example: Heaven Knight approaches the monument and finds her skin is prickly. She touches the surface and her ability - blinding photo-flashes - bursts out of the monument and blinds her. She decides to call her Summons, a white Chocobo, to protect her. Out of the surface of the monument, another white Chocobo oozes from the surface of the monument, but it isn’t as lustrous: its feathers are too short and its head and neck are floppy. This creeps Heaven Knight out very much, so she hops on the Chocobo and GTFOs. The copied Chocobo dissipates behind her as she leaves the area. White Moon Senshi White Moon Senshi and cats who approach and interact with the obelisk find it rapidly becomes pearlescent in color and texture. Moonlight reflects more readily from its lustrous surface, becoming almost blinding depending on the moon’s position in the sky. Magical attacks are absorbed into the surface and reflected back in a random direction shortly thereafter. Senshi cannot travel to their planet or to the Moon City while in the vicinity of the monument. Senshi cellphones are on the fritz when in its presence and do not function normally. Cats cannot perform upgrades or produce items. Human/senshi form is impossible to assume. For Example: Sailor Spandex thinks this obelisk thing is a hot load of nonsense and goes to investigate. He is winching at how the moonlight reflects off the surface and, due to his temper, fires a beam of energy at the surface. This beam is absorbed and shoots back out at Sailor Spandex, knocking him to the ground. He’s pissed and decides to call his friend, Sailor Muselin, but his phone keeps sending her home improvement estimates instead.
