Alexandra walked in her front door, and resisted making faces when her mother got off the phone, turning to scold her for a good five or ten minutes before the irl could move to her room, entering ad slamming the door behind her. While Broderick was out doing Guardian Kitty business, Alexandra had the kitten, and the girl sighed, sitting as she picked the animal up and placed it across her gently.
Something was alwaqys nice about cats and animals in general. They were gentle, they understood when yiou needed comfort, and, most were all too happy to snuggle... Such as the kittens Miss Kitty and Brody had found around Halloween. Of course Alex paid the vet bills immediately, bringing Brody and meeting Miss Kitty's human when they came. It was easy if both took a kitten in and Alex paid, because then bioth cats could watch -- and they made up a story of not knowing if Brody had gotten Miss Kitty in heat. Both were young -- only a handful of months old when found, and the girls agreed to keep the cats, awkwardly sharing powered identities because, away from public, both cats were incredibly chatty.
But it did mean a friend. Alex pet the kitten with a small sigh, and the small cat mewled, looking up with large eyes before nosing her, searching for a meal. Finding no treats, the kitten huffed, standing and kneading before bunting Alex's hand. Alex laughed softly, and reached, rubbing the kitten's ear.
"Come onnow, you know it isn't food time." Alex soothed softly. Unlike earlier, everything melted for the poor kitten. No longer an orphan, Alex doted on her furry grandchild with great love and adoration. Green eyes became soft, and a smile most tender crossed her face. This kitten was a treasure, just like her daddy, and Alexandra hummed, kissing the top of her little head before rummaging.
"Now, hold on little one," Alexandra warned. HJer tone was still tender as she reached, fishing some small things from a pocket. On her way home she'd stopped by a pet store, buying some clothes for the kitten, and the woman gently put a small cap and sweater on them, the kitten wiggling several moments before calming once more, instead mewing in confusion before Alex pet them, and they settled, Alex's reward the soft purr of the kitten, a soft, contented noise that earned a contented sigh. It was rather nice -- even soothing, and Alex sighed. Some things were worth blowing off her mother's plans. Events, meetings, attempts to turn her over to a business man as a trophy wife or a businesswife...
That wasn't important. Not with Brody, or the kitten. THIS kitten was a sweet, soft reminder she could breathe. She could relax, settle out, and maybe finally tune everything out. Alex's fingers found the kitten's head and chin, and she closed her eyes, scratching their head and chin softly as she hummed gently, nuzzling her grandfurchild's forehead, and she sighed, smiling faintly as she let herself simply Be. It was going to be okay.
