Throwing himself into his work, Angus sat in his garage and stared at the half built bike. He had the frame completely fabricated now. Of course, the engine and guts were still piecemeal, but the bike was getting closer to completion every day. A quick glance outside showed just how little daylight was left. He didn’t have to work tonight, so…? After a moment’s thought, he dismissed the idea of patrolling. He was allowed to be lazy once in a while. Besides, he had bottles to fill and store and a sorta-kinda girlfriend to check up on via text.
And, if his grease and dirt smudged hands were any indication, a shower to take as well.
Standing, he went to work locking up the garage and tossing a stained rag aside once he’d used to to wipe the worst of the grease from his fingers. Once he was sure everything was in its place, he headed into the house and went right for the bathroom. Stripping and leaving his clothes in a basket, Angus turned on the shower as hot as could be born and stepped inside.
Once clean, he turned the water off and stepped out. Wringing the water from his hair, he deftly twisted it into a rough braid and finished drying. Moments later, boxer-clad and still smelling faintly of Old Spice, the burly blond threw himself into a comfily worn armchair and threw a leg over the arm before seizing his phone. For a moment he considered taking a post shower selfie, then dismissed the notion. For the moment anyway. Instead, he opened his texts and tapped out a quick message.
Miss you, Bin. Ratdog is doing fine.
In fact, said ratdog was now prancing up to him and wagging his tail endearingly. With a soft, chuckling sigh, Angus reached down to scoop Sanskrit up and into his lap.
“You miss ‘er too, doncha, wee laddie,” he murmured as he gently scratched at the dog’s soft ears. “Hopefully she won’t stay gone too long. Maybe I should take a picture of the both of us for her, hey?”
Laughing again as the dog settled himself happily into Angus’ lap, he took up the phone again to continue writing.
Sanny misses you too. Pity he isn’t brighter or I’d ask you to facetime with him. But that would probably just confuse the wee boy and make him sad.
Okay, who exactly was he trying to kid? Facetiming with Bindhi would make him sad, never mind the dog. They might have kept things reasonably open, relationship wise, but it didn’t stop him from missing her and wishing he had her all to himself at times.
It didn’t stop him wanting to protect her and keep her safe from her demons.
Please be safe, Bin.
Tapping send, Angus waited a moment before engaging his camera phone and taking a selfie with Sanskrit. Then, he tapped the picture to send it on before adding a final text and sending.
Love you, Bin.
