Maegara sighed and leaned her head against her hand. Mortals were so boring. She had come out here, to the outskirts of Kurt's ranch to have a alpaca petting day. Except it was less petting and more watching the mortals care for the Alpaca. Stupid mortals.
Looks like today's plan was canceled. Jumping down off her branch, she dusted her legs off and began walking toward the marshes.

It was in the marshes that she saw it. Right before the treeline of that nasty dragnid forest. Laying peacefully in a puddle of marsh and algae. The only reason she had even noticed it was cause she had been walking along, dragging a stick through the muddied, befouled waters in an attempt to distract herself from her foul mood.
But come across it she did. The gold veins running along it's side was what had really caught her eyes. What teen in what century didn't get excited about a little gold? She could honor Persephone with it. She could make coins and throw them at people. She could even make a weapon. I mean, the ideas were endless.
So when she had walked over to collect the gold, she had been startled to find a deep purple egg attached to it in the shadows of the form and moss.
"Huh."

Maegara bent low and let out a a soft noise of admiration. The little egg was nestled in amongst the shallows, covered in algae and mud. Which was unusual because most Harpie eggs, even when dropped, were usually closer to trees.
At least she assumed this was a Harpie egg. Not like she had seen any other kind of eggs before. Although there was something off about this egg.
She reached a hand out to clear the gunk off of the large egg. Humming to herself as she did so, she did take a moment to notice that although the egg was a beautiful color, it was rather misshapen. And looked a little soft, if she were honest.

The egg was really soft. "Just how far did you fall, you precious little thing?" She whispered to it as they walked along the halls of her home. The egg was not only soft, the outer shell had a leathery like texture. Where ever this poor bird had fallen from, it was enough to pulverise it's shell. The noises she kept hearing from the little egg didn't help it none either. It almost sounded like it was slithering around in there. "Poor, poor dear. You must have been injured when you fell."
What if was brain damaged?! She suddenly had the thought of a brain damaged harpy running amok in the underground. She paled.
Persephone would kill her!!
She quickly looked at the egg in panic. What the $@ was she gonna do I it was brain damaged?! Plans, damnit. Planning was her forte. She needed to think.

Grabbing some blankets, she wrapped the egg up and set it by the fire.
"Think. Think. Think." She grumbled to herself as she paced the floor. Where could she hide a brain damaged chick?
Wait. Who said she had to hide it? Maybe she could stuff into one of those golden natter headed gods that plagued her so? She had a moment to think of the stupid, pigheaded warrior boy who had accosted her during her Venus Day mission.
Oh yes. He'd get blamed for it too. A daffy headed bird running around pooping and eating Venus's roses?! It was beautiful.
She stopped pacing and sat down next to the egg. Reached a hand out, she carressed the leather skin. Oh yes. This egg was a treasure. Pulling the egg into her arms, blankets and all, she smiled and laid down by the fire, her body wrapped around the egg to extra warmth.
Her eyes drifted closed as she thought about all the trouble that lil @$$hole of a god would e in once her plans had reached fruition.

LATER THAT NIGHT
Maegara frowned and batted again at whatever was squirming against her. Wait.......
Her eyes popped open. There was nothing in her room that could tickle. Eyes lowering, she took note of the quivering bundle of blankets. Eyes widening, she sat up quickly, only to watch the unknown mass under the blankets, move with her.
But something was off. It.....moved one of those snake things. Just how damaged was this thing?!
Reaching out, she closed her eyes and braced herself for a mess of feathers assume flung the covers away. Only to find a beautiful purple and gold baby snake trying to nuzzle her.
She screamed bloody murder.
