This had to be the worst idea any troll ever came up with. A full contact sport? On wheels? Wheels! Who thought of that?! And with Hemera no less... a troll that while he considered more of a bookish sort, knew deep down when it came to it she was probably ruthless.
And he was on wheels.
Oh golly.
"So uh... Hemera? Real quick? Making sure I got this right..." Before he could ask, those awkward legs of him decided to try and give out on him. Thank gog he caught himself in time, before he fell splat to the ground. "We're use these sticks to chase this little... disk thing, and we try and get it into each other's net?" Seemed simple enough, but lord knows there were probably rules he was missing.
"... while we are on wheels." Just... couldn't stress that enough. Out of nervous habit and an attempt to make sure his hair wouldn't get in the way, Mahmud adjusted his hairband and clips. Given his lack of coordination, there was no doubt in his mind he was about to be absolutely freaking clobbered by his pal over here. And yet here he was.

"Mera, please. And yes." Hemera in her youth had hated skating, the thought of it, the vulnerability of falling down. She remembered going to a skating rink with Elidae but froze up at the thought of trying something new where she could fail and embarrass herself in front of others.
But she was no longer a child.
"I am not particularly experienced with it myself. Fortunately, it seems it will be a shared learning experience!" Because Mahmud seemed a little anxious to be skating, himself. "So if we both have a hard time, it will be no problem to laugh it off. Mistakes...happen." She had to remind herself that, as hard as it was.
"Now." She crouched a little, tapping her stick on the ground around the puck. "Why don't you take the first shot?"

While Mera was no longer a child, Mahmud sure still felt like he was from time to time. This sort of instance was one of them. But like she said, Mistakes happen... so... "Alright." Mimicking her crouch and wiggling a little bit, Mahmud started skating full force towards Hemera!
"I won't lose!"
He lost it. His balance, that was.
Poor thing had used all his strength into the swing of the stick. Were this a real hockey game, and not a game for beginners, Mahmud would have probably been penalized for "high-stick"ing. Swinging it like a baseball bat, not only did he manage to clear the area above the puck by a couple centimeters, but he threw so much of his momentum into it that he slipped and fell onto his butt.
"Y-You didn't see that! You didn't see that..." Now his face was all dark and flushed, embarrassed by the spectacular splat.

Mera watched, her emotions evolving slowly from a range of confusion, to horror, to pity. She had to chuckle at the end of it. The orangeblood was certainly trying. "Ohhhh dear." He seemed in one piece still, at least. Hemera slid over and held out a hand to try to pull him back up.
"Mistakes happen, Mahmud. You just have to breathe and continue on." Easier said than done...

Mahmud took that offered hand, grateful for the help. "Thanks, 'Mera..." That being said, he couldn't help but be a little embarrassed. Why was he so clumsy? Oh wait, yeah, right, the shoes. The shoes didn't help matters one little bit. Seriously, who invented these?
Someone with a penchant for pain, more than likely.
As he scrambled to his feet, said feet slipped out from under him again, sending Mahmud flying onto his butt. "OW... damn these things!!!"

Yikes. No matter what she did, Mahmud just kept falling down. He seemed pretty upset about the entire concept of being on wheels, and that could be distracting him. Maybe he needed...incentive.
Hemera helped him up again, because, of course, then side-eyed the net. She tapped her stick against the puck, making it slide towards Mahmud's net.
She looked him in the eye, then started moving towards the puck.HP: 20/20 DMG: 1 ICE: 1/1

Hunh? Wha? No! No no no she was gonna get a goal! "HEY!" The poor kid managed to scramble to his feet, wibbling and wobbling the whole while. In his mad scramble to get the puck out of her grasp, Mahmud did what any good Alternian did in a game of Hockey: He got physical.
Jabbing his shoulder into her, Mahmud managed to both get the puck and make himself into an actual viable threat! "Aha!" With a big grin he started (slowly) rolling down the little court with the puck, being very deliberate in his stick movement to try and keep it within grasp.

Mahmud got up and pushed back, hard. Real hard. Hemera went down, easily slipping on her own fresh wheels. The good news was that she managed to not pull a muscle. The better news was that on reflex her ice got going, and soaked most of the fall.
Admittedly, she was surprised the orangeblood had it in him.
It took her a moment to get up on her own, but Mahmud didn't seem to be going very fast, anyway. She skated over, and tried to get the puck away from him, though with the close quarters there was plenty of potential to accidentally bap him with her own stick.HP: 20/20 DMG: 2 ICE: 0/1 <-- Using

"Hey hey HEY HEY!" He hadn't hurt Hemera that much did he? Now she was trying to attack his ankles! Not that he noticed it was an accident or anything. "Aha!" In revenge, Mahmud flailed his own stick at her's, smacking it hard to get it away from the puck. "This is mine!"

"Sorry!" Mera apologized, just in time for her stick to get hit, which smacked her in the process. Ow! Rude. "Hey yourself!"
She needed to slip the puck away as nonviolently as possible, somehow. She tried to sweep it out from under Mahmud after she recovered a little.HP: 17/20 DMG: 4 ICE: 0/1

Oh she swept alright. Said sweeping motion was enough to startle Mahmud and send him skittering backwards. There was a good deal of flailing before falling onto his butt! "OW!" Ow ow ow, he bit his tongue. Ow ow ow.... Mahmud was clearly in deep distress!

"Mahmud..." At this point, she was just starting to feel sorry for him. Mera batted the puck away a little more before seeing to try to reach down to help him up. It was still just a friendly game! Good health mattered more than winning.
