DEPENDABLE
xxx»» Jacqui is always there when you need her. Admittedly, sometimes she struggles slightly with things like, say, waking up early in the morning, and she's frequently late. But she'll always show up, usually with an apology in tow in the form of baked goods. She can always be relied on to help her friends out in a tough spot, and is most definitely a problem solver. She will always do her best to come up with the best solution to anything she's up against, especially if it means making things better or easier for someone she cares about.
OVERZEALOUS
xxx»» Jacqui tends to come on a bit strong, throwing herself whole-heartedly into any and everything. She always gives 100%, and can come off as a bit obsessive when she gets going. Once she's built up momentum, she doesn't like to stop, and she frequently delves so deep into a project or cause that she forgets to focus on literally anything else. She tends to forget to eat, or sleep, or do much of anything to take care of herself when she's got her mind on something that needs to be done.
THOUGHTFUL
xxx»» Jacqui is very aware of what goes on around her, particularly the emotional states of her close friends and family. She's definitely a caretaker, and is always quick to step in and do something to brighten someone's day or help them out of a tough spot. She pays close attention to the preferences of the people she encounters, often remembering a person's face and favorite treat after only a couple of visits to her parent's bakery. She likes to do little things to let people know she's thinking of them, like surprising them with a cookie or sending them a quick letter to remind them how awesome they are.

xxx»» Jacqui's parents were always quite adamant that, despite everything, things would always work out for the best. Jacqui took that belief a step further, and firmly believes that you can make your own luck. She manages to balance out hoping for the best, while always doing whatever she can to work towards that end result. She truly believes that, as long as you don't let yourself get dragged down, and you make active efforts to improve, things can always get better. It takes a lot to really get her down, and she has never stayed down for very long.
LONG-WINDED
xxx»» Jacqui is the sort of person to ramble when she's nervous, or excited, or angry, or generally feeling any particularly strong emotion. Considering she is almost always in some sort of high emotional state, this means that she is almost always rambling about something. Once she gets going, it can be hard to shake her out of her own head to realize she's been going on and on about something. Her go-to response to an awkward situation is to latch onto literally any detail she can and info-dump any and everything she knows about the subject matter until she runs out of things to say, which can take a while.
SPONTANEOUS
xxx»» Jacqui isn't the best at planning ahead of time. She's much more likely to show up at your doorstep at noon and excitedly invite you to go to a movie than she is to take the time to actually plan such an outing. Whenever she tries to plan ahead the plans always seem to inevitably fall through, so she's pretty much given up on the entire thing. The closest she'll get is a phone call the night before wanting or needing to do something early the next day. She tries to give more advance notice when she needs serious help with something, but even then the plans end up changing as circumstances call, so she's not always on top of keeping people updated.

CHILDHOOD
xxx»» Jacqui was the first and only child born to a middle class couple in Paris, France. Her mother, Aline Noel, was a halfblood witch from a fairly prominent French family. Aline met her husband Luc during her teen years when she became a frequent customer at his family's bakery during the Summer holidays. Luc found Aline to be interesting and amusing, and she was impressed by his skill in the kitchen, as well as enamored with his charm. She resisted his advances while still in school, but was unable to stay away from him once she'd graduated, and eventually he convinced her to go on a date. From there followed a whirlwind romance, though Aline struggled with keeping her magic a secret from him throughout their courtship. Meanwhile, she struggled with getting her family to accept that she was dating a muggle. Eventually, things came to a head, and while she was not technically disowned, it was made clear that she did not have her family's support. In the end, she chose to stay with Luc, and told him the truth about her magical heritage. He accepted it readily, and they married shortly thereafter.
space»» Originally, the Noel's wanted more children, but they struggled to conceive Jacqui, and complications arose during pregnancy, so they decided to be grateful for the gift that was their daughter. Her childhood was a blur of sweets and hugs and games, and if she was sad that she didn't have much in the way of family beyond her parents, she never showed it. She was lonely sometimes, but she always found way to occupy herself. Things changed when she was seven, and a new family moved into the house next door, a recent divorcee and her three children, two younger boys and a girl Jacqui's age. Jacqui and Neomi Marchand hit it off immediately, though it wasn't until her parents realized their daughter's new friend was a muggleborn that the pair really got close. After that discovery, the Noel's dedicated themselves to helping Annette Marchand navigate having a magical child. Neomi spent as much time at the Noel's bakery as she did in her own home.
SCHOOL YEARS
xxx»» Jacqui's school years started off rather uneventfully. She and Neomi entered school together, and were just as inseparable there as they had been at home. During their first year they grew close to another classmate, a pureblood named Alphonse , who had been a somewhat regular customer at her parent's bakery for years, never knowing that Aline and the two girls were magical. The three became fast friends, which brought with it a friend of Alphonse's, Felix Belmont. A pureblood like Alphonse, Felix's father was exceptionally old-fashioned, as well as being a blood purist, so he wasn't as quick to befriend the halfblood and muggleborn girls as his friend had been. But, he ended up growing closer to Jacqui when they were paired together for a class assignment, helping her overcome some of her anxiety to perform well in Defense Against the Dark Arts. With the ice broken, he found himself settling into their friend circle quite comfortably, despite his father's disapproval. The four teens began more or less sneaking around behind the man's back to ensure that Felix was able to join them on excursions over the holidays, which caused significant strain on Felix's relationship with his father.
ADULTHOOD
xxx»» Post-graduation, Jacqui decided she wanted to continue working in her parent's bakery, not having discovered anything in her life that appealed to her more than continuing the family tradition. She settled happily into a routine with them, though it was well established that Jacqui, not being a morning person in the slightest, was not to be spoken to or interacted with while she did the morning mise en place. She became the resident cake decorator, having a fine eye for detail and excellent design skills. Meanwhile, she took up an active social life with her friends, spending her free nights going to dance clubs when she was feeling extroverted, and staying in to play games or watch cartoons when she wasn't. Much of their collective time was spent helping Felix deal with the fact that, against his will, he had been betrothed to another of their classmates and was expected to wed her shortly. Jacqui and Neomi, not being used to pureblood politics, were strongly in favor of him simply running out on the wedding, but they weren't sure they were doing a good job of convincing him to actually do it.
xxx»» To their surprise, the day of Felix's wedding, he showed up at their bakery and told them he and his fiancee had talked, decided to call it off in the most dramatic way possible, and that he'd run off after announcing during the ceremony that they weren't going through with it. He hid out at the Noel's when his father came looking for him, and asked Jacqui to essentially flee the country with him. At first she tried to explain to him that she'd been joking about doing something so dramatic, but when it was obvious he really wanted to go through with it, she agreed. The pair absconded to England with the money Felix was able to get out of his family vault before his father was able to cut him off, and managed to live off of that long enough for Jacqui to get a job at a bakery in London, and Felix to get a job at Madam Malkin's. The pair were able to move into the flat over the robe shop, and settled into things as well as could be expected.
