[ A Warrior's Call - Volbeat ]

"Captain Uvarovite, your presence is requested in the old warehouse district. Firefly has been spotted-- Bring Pet. I hope he's hungry."

General Tourmaline had spent too much time lately roaming the Underground. While she was all for making sure that her new recruits received hands on experience, she knew first hand what some of the Senshi of the White Moon were capable of she had wanted to make sure that they were trained properly before sending them out in the world to collect energy of their own.

Some nights she would bring Lieutenant Cornetite with her, watching as he developed his own taste for the types of targets he would mark. Others it was Cursa, trying to get a feel for the Senshi of Ostriches who eased into things far better than she had initially thought to give the young woman credit for. When Uvarovite was not working directly with Kas she let him linger, learning what she could of the bird-man youma...

Tonight she had been alone and alone she would not take down the purple haired senshi, no matter how tempting it might have been to see if she could. After the night he'd left her burned by his magic and her own foolishness she knew better and would give her partner the chance to test his youma out against something other than one of their own. Then she would claim Arsinoe's starseed as a trophy and wear it around her neck.

-----

Corvus had made arrangements to meet her cousin for a patrol that evening and she'd lost track of time-- something she rarely did when it came to catching up with her cousin. They'd had such little time together since he'd returned from his trip abroad, midterms popping up followed by spring break. Everything was moving so quickly and they had so much to catch up on.

A quiet evening was too much to hope for, it seemed. She could feel darkness lurking at the edges of her senses, drawing out her communication device to see if anything out of the ordinary was showing up on the tracker. Not far from the place where she'd agreed to meet with Arsinoe, she wasn't certain where the trouble would pop up first.

[Text to Arsinoe:] I'm not the only one picking up on that aura, am I? Where are you in reference to current location???

Uvarovite looked over at his communicator where it was resting on a small stand in his lab. He had been working on dissecting one of the feral youma when it had gone off and Tourmaline's voice crackled over the small speakers.

Leaving the youma carcass where it was he pulled off his gloves, shrugging out of his lab coat before calling his Pet's attention. The youma wasn't far off and he could feel it lurking outside in the Rift.

After snagging his communicator it didn't take much to find Tourmaline's signature and teleport himself to her side. They were close enough it was far too easy to do now a days. "Decided you wanted to see how he looked chewed up?" He smirked, setting his hat back on his head straight.

-------------------------------------------------

[Text to Corvus:] No, and it's an aura I know too. Staying out of eyesight until you get here

Arsinoe had been tempted to go after the aura. It was one he'd marked and one he'd remembered. You didn't have someone try to yank your starseed out without remembering what their particular brand of darkness felt like. So despite his desire to see if he could properly flatten her this time he waited. It would be better, easier, to take her on with his cousins help.

The idea of taking her down seemed easy enough until a second aura registered alongside hers. "********."

[Text to Corvus: She brought company! There's a Captain with her.

Tourmaline was exceedingly grateful that one or two nights had been spent with she and Uvarovite teleporting around town. Part of the exercise had been to accustom the Captain to the feeling of exhaustion that accompanied too many uses while also familiarizing him with the practice itself. The other part was making sure that he had physically been to her various haunts, making it all the easier for him to find her should she need him.

His presence was met with a wicked grin as she straightened from where she had crouched upon the rooftop to watch the streets below for traces of the senshi. She could feel the strong Order aura raising the hairs on the back of her neck, threatening to sicken her with its sweetness-- and not long after Uvarovite's arrival she started to feel a second.

"I don't care what he looks like when we're done with him, as long as Pet understands that the senshi's starseed is mine. Pet can help itself to whatever plaything the senshi's brought along with him. Can you feel the second one?"

-----

[Text to Arsinoe:] En route. Informing Eta of location.

While Corvus had no doubt that between the two of them she and Arsinoe could take on a General-- provided it was one of the newer Generals, and not one of the monsters that had come from the first wave of Negaverse officers-- the addition of a Captain made her a bit more hesitant to jump head first into the fray. Where were was more than one rank there were likely to be others. Did the two have Lieutenants lingering near by? Or, worse yet, Corrupt Senshi? What of their youma?

Corvus selected the voice message button on her phone, transmitting a digital clip to the Guardian Mau she'd parted ways with that evening. "Eta, Arsinoe and I may need your assistance after all. Please reach out to Sumi and rendezvous at our location."

-----

Eta had been antsy all day. Something hadn't been right with the world since Corvus had disappeared behind the previously locked door in the depths of her castle. When the senshi had emerged something was different about her, and yet the Mauvian couldn't quite put a paw on what.

She had been sorely tempted to insist that Corvus let her accompany her out that evening if only so she could continue to monitor the situation. Corvus had insisted that she and Arsinoe would be fine, and yet...

When the message came through the slender Mau leapt to action, communicating a short message to Sumi who would be able to track Arsinoe just as easily as she could Corvus. "Stars and stones, I told her not to leave me behind tonight."

"I am sure that can be arranged Kitten." He smirked as he looked around, glad she had picked a spot that gave them a good vantage point. The senshi tended to prefer the rooftops and while teleporting could get them up there it did tend to give the senshi an advantage when scouting. From up here they would both have a good view of the senshi from whatever direction they came.

The aura of the senshi Tourmaline had dubbed "Firefly" was brighter but he could feel as second one simmering as well. It wasn't quite as strong but it would still make a powerful one to add to his collection. And if others appeared? Well more snacks for Pet.

"I can, where you find one you tend to find others. Much like cockroaches" It was a blessing when he needed energy or star seeds but an annoyance when dealing with one often meant another two showed their faces as well.

--------------------------------------------

Arsinoe kept his phone open, not so much expecting another text from Corvus but so he could keep an eye out for any more chaos signatures. The Officers rarely traveled alone anymore so with two higher ranking officers there were bound to be more. Even if they hadn't appeared now they could be lurking just out of range of his phone.

Did the officers know the range on their phones?

That was never a comforting thought but one that he couldn't concentrate on right now. Right now he needed to concentrate on the General who most likely had a vendetta against him for what he'd done to her last time.

[Text to Corvus:] General is dangerous, reckless. They haven't moved but haven't spotted me yet either

That was only a matter of time though, he was mostly hidden on his perch but if they came hunting or he moved they would spot him fast.

"I can't say much about that, sugar. We're learning from their tactics-- it's not often any of us can be found without others either." Not as long as she had her way about it when it came to the Corrupts and Lieutenants. Despite the fact that Uvarovite did not technically fall under her command, she would have insisted that he venture out with someone by his side as well were he not almost constantly in the company of his personal youma.

"Firefly is somewhere over in that general area. The other one feels different. Still an Eternal, I think." There was something about it, though; not as bright as the Senshi of ******** Fireballs, but... She'd figure it out once they had the senshi's starseed out of their chest for examination. Normally she'd suggest corruption, but any friend of Firefly's wasn't worth keeping around alive.

-----

[Text to Arsinoe:] Auras are coming from above us. Going to have to lure them down here unless you want to take the fight up to them. Fighting style?

These were all important things to know if they were going to take on the General and the Captain together, especially if they were going to attempt to draw them out before reinforcements arrived. Corvus hated playing the waiting game and in order to get from where she was to Arsinoe she would have to break out into the open anyways.

******** it.

Arsinoe could yell at her later.

Corvus tucked her phone down into her bodice before breaking out across the open lot. She had come across only a rare few Negaverse officers with ranged weapons and since neither of the two she could sense had fired anything at them from their fantage point, it was a risk she was willing to take in order to close the distance between she and her cousin. Worst came to, she'd simply lure their opponents down to a fair playing field.

"We are a bit different, not all officers take to your rules of going out in pairs." Plenty he had read about went out alone and given how arrogant some of the others could be there was no doubt in his mind that they would go out alone just to prove they could.

Uvarovite was among them sometimes but with Pet around he didn't quite feel as if he was on his own. Now with Kaz under his command along with Nitratine if he needed someone else to accompany him he had them.

"The other one will make a nice addition to my collection. A eternal seed will be more useful for some experiments I have planned." As he spoke movement caught his eye and he turned to look down below them. "Speaking of that Eternal ... she must be heading for your prey. Would you like me to stop her or shall we let them think they are safe for a moment?"

----------------------------------------------

[Text to Corvus:] General is hand to hand and she's good at it. Clawed metal gloves. Captain is an unknown so be careful.

Arsinoe's warning to be careful was a bit too late as he saw Corvus heading across the open ground toward where he was hiding. He spit out a quite curse knowing that the two officers were bound to see her. Yes it would draw them down to them but it also meant she was vulnerable to whatever the Captain had in store.

Looking down to his feet where Sumi was curled up he paused before running his fingers though the kitten's fur. "Keep an eye out. If it looks like we can't handle it I want you to go find Arachne."

"Not all of the White Moon senshi flock together either. Aue has said on numerous occasions that they're all too busy squabbling for power to properly work with one another." All the more reason to take those who could be converted and welcome them into the Negaverse. They could show them what true order looked like-- Order through Chaos was something that General Tourmaline could get behind entirely.

Granted, it mattered little to her currently what officers outside of her band of misfits did. Tourmaline kept her ears out for things like Wolfeite and the pack he was forming, along with what information she could gather on others-- Uvarovite still reported to Aurostibite (better General Peacock than herself), Faustite had mentioned his general, Labyrinthite was still out there somewhere and she knew that there were more. What they taught was of no concern to her as long as hers followed orders... For now.

"The more time they have to think they're safe the more time they have to contact others. I think it's about time we stopped watching the mice scurry and did something about eradicating them." Tourmaline called her weapons to hand as she stepped up onto the ledge. The thought of going for the 'superhero' landing was tempting, of course, but impractical. It took her a moment to calculate the best way down before she was hopping to the fire escape with the practiced grace of a cat.

-----

"Lucky for us I had to learn a thing or two about hand to hand as well?" She was out of practice, but her battle against Cavansite had at least brought her back into the game. Her head was back on her shoulders and she felt more focused than she had been in ages.

"This is the one from the night you got these?" She reached out, lightly tracing a gloved finger along one of the softly glowing lines of script on Arsinoe's arm. "So it's best to assume that the Captain she has with her has received similar training.... And we're in for one hell of a fight."

"Enough of them to do be a nuisance even if they are a poorly organized nuisance." It was far easier to deal with those ones. Often their egos got the better of them and they believed themselves to be far more powerful than they really were. It was a stroke of luck for the Negaverse that the senshi never seemed to be able to properly organize. Their major downfall as far as Uvarovite was concerned.

The Captain was more than happy to relieve them of those egos though. Knocking the senshi down a few pegs, or better yet stealing their star seeds, was one of the best highs he had found lately.

As Tourmaline made her way down the fire escape he watched the senshi disappear behind some cover before he called out to the Pet. The senshi were close enough he could send his Pet in to engage with them first, distracting them until Tourmaline could make contact.

-----------------------------------------------

"One and the same." He nodded as Corvus reached him, straightening up from where he'd been crouched. There would be no hiding from the officers now that Corvus had given away his cover and he could feel them moving. "If she's as angry as she was then, yea. No doubt whatever Captain is with her knows her tricks or worse."

Arsinoe was glad Corvus was there though. Between the two of them he knew that the officers would have one hell of a fight on their hands as well. Neither himself or his cousin were likely to give up with out sending the officers back to where ever they came from.

As he was thinking about what they should do he noticed the ground behind Corvus start to bubble moments before the ugly form of a youma pulled itself out of the dirt.

---------------------------------------------

The Pet came quickly to it's masters summon, having trailed Captain Uvarovite through the ground as the officer conversed with the General. It could feel the pulse of energy from the two senshi and it wanted a taste but knew better than to do anything without it's masters command.

When finally it was freed, when Uvarovite gave the signal that it could feed, the youma homed in on the signatures, pulling itself from the dirt behind the senshi, jaws snapping as it freed itself.

For all that Tourmaline enjoyed the dramatic flare of her coat and cape flaring out behind her as she stalked across the abandoned lot from where she had landed, it would only get her so far. Her emotions had been running high during her last run-in with the purple-haired senshi, and while she could only recall jagged bits and pieces of the encounter (enough to knew that he was to be eradicated) it stood out prominently enough that he had an understanding of his sphere and was not to be underestimated. He wouldn't be thrown off by theatrics and she knew first hand how painful his magic could be.

The woman, however, was a new curiosity-- one she would deal with later, provided Pet didn't finish her off first.

"So kind of you to bring a friend out to play this time, Firefly. I'm sure her starseed will look just as lovely hanging around my neck beside yours." She took that brief moment of arrogance as the ground shook beneath the senshi, grinning brightly as she waited to see who would scatter where first. Eenie, meenie, minie, moe...

-----

Her eyes went wide as the youma rose behind her, giving her barely a second to scramble out of the way before it was gnashing its teeth. "Sumi, go!" Corvus hissed, hoping that the Mau would keep his own aura masked as he scrambled away to get help. Eta would be there soon and while there was a chance that she and Arsinoe would have been fine with the aide of the two Mauvians it was a risk Corvus was not willing to take. If they had one youma between them, why not two.... And what if there were still more of them lurking?

"A little help here, Arsinoe... I think your magic might be more useful against that thing than mine. Trade you for the General?"

Grymoire

Uvarovite followed down the fire escape a bit behind Tourmaline. He could deal with whichever of the senshi she didn't go after for the time being. Letting her pick her target would be better in the long run. Tourmaline knew how to handle them better, at least in terms of experience, and he was willing to let her control the flow of things as long as she kept her emotions in check. He knew Firefly was a thorn in her side and he hoped she would be able to keep herself from making a stupid decision.

Once he was on the ground he summoned his weapon, wrapping the chain around one arm as he walked across the slight damp ground after the General.

"I do hope you enjoy my Pet. It does so like to play."

---------------------------------------

Arsinoe spit out a curse as the youma snapped at where he and Corvus had been standing and the two of them scrambled to get out of the way. He hadn't been expecting to see that, used to seeing youma out on their own rather than coming to the call of an Officer. He knew it was a thing they could do but it seemed more like something that they did to cause havoc.

Not something they did intentionally.

"Deal with her. I've got this thing." At least he had a better shot at dealing with the youma than she did. He ducked under the creatures head, kicking at one of it's arms on the way hoping to get the youma's attention and keep it focused on him rather than his cousin. "This way ugly."

---------------------------------------

With the appearance of the youma and the commands of the two senshi Sumi took off running. He didn't like the idea of leaving them alone with that many enemies but ... but he wasn't useful in a fight.

Arachne would be.

The spider senshi knew how to deal with youma and despite his absence he was strong. If he could find him and bring another Eternal into the frey then Arsinoe and Corvus would have a much better chance to get out of there mostly unharmed.

Concentrating he focused on the feel of the familiar senshi, small legs taking him in the direction of his target.

For a brief moment Tourmaline was tempted to pout that the male senshi hadn't wanted to go toe to toe with her again-- or that he had told his companion to deal with her. It was for the best, she was certain. If Uvarovite was teaming up with Pet against the Senshi he had a better chance of taking him out.

She hoped, at least. She still wasn't entirely certain what had caused the sudden glow that had propelled her back during their last battle. When they won this one she would have Uvarovite investigate the senshi's starseed properly before she made a necklace of it.

"Looks like it's you and me, pretty. Ready to dance?"

-----

They only had to hold the two and their monster at bay until Eta arrived and Sumi returned. Once they had numbers on their side it wouldn't matter that there was a General and a Captain with a youma under their command. Corvus was convinced that together they could take on anything, taking her new lease on life and putting it towards the fight.

"I'm sorry, sweetheart, I'm afraid you're not my type when it comes to dance partners. I have standards." Ones that didn't involve short-tempered Negaverse Generals with wicked grins and wild eyes. If it weren't for knowing that Arsinoe had defeated her before she might have been more alarmed.

She wasn't.

Perhaps she should have been.

"Time to atone. Violent Revenge!"

Attack #1b - Violent Revenge!
[Once activated a shadow rises up behind Sailor Corvus, looming and shifting until it takes the shape of wings spreading behind her. The shadow brings with it an imposing aura that spreads out to Corvus's attacker, leaving behind a feeling of cold dread as if divine vengeance is looming near.

This time vengeance closes in, bringing with it a forceful impact of negative energy. This 'punch' is the force of vengeance, returning the damage that was dealt to Corvus by her opponent (if two opponents are attacked the damage is halved between them).]

Duration: Activation requires one post from Corvus with the after effects felt in her opponent's next immediate post. After effects should fade following that.
Avoidable: If the opponent can make it outside of the shadow's reach, yes, but Vengeance moves fast and most lower level opponents are unable to get out of range fast enough.
AOE: Up to two opponents within 20ft radius per attack. Must be within 10ft of one another.
Uses: 2 -- Does not have to be directed towards the same opponent each time, provided she has been attacked by more than one.

Arsinoe ducked under the swing of the creatures head ignoring the way the sound of it's screech made his skin crawl. He just needed it out of the way of Corvus and hopefully he could dust the damn thing before whichever of the two officers was controlling it realized what was happening.

He had to assume the Captain. He'd heard a male voice say something about a Pet but he hadn't been paying too much attention.

The youma was fast though, faster than it's size would have predicted, and Arsinoe was left scrambling to get out of the way until he could properly get his feet under him to vault up onto the slope of a small doorway on the warehouse.

"Let's see how you like chewing on this. Dancing Lights Reveal."

Quote:
Attack #1b - Dancing Lights! Reveal!
[Taking the lighting stick from his lantern he catches a bit of the flame. Holding it up to his face he breathes on the flame releasing five small orbs of fire toward his enemies. Upon contact the orbs explode Note: The explosions are more powerful this time and have a chance of actually singing or burning those who they explode against.]
  • Duration: 2 times per battle
  • Avoidable: Yes. The orbs float fast and Sailor Arsinoë only has mild control over where they go. If you're nimble and fast you can get away
  • Downside: Even Sailor Arsinoë's comrades can still be hit by the orbs and suffer damage if they get in the way

---------------------------------------------

Uvarovite was surprised that Tourmaline didn't go straight for the male senshi, ignoring the other one, but getting the woman out of the way would leave them more time to play with the Firefly. That had been her intended target and the one they should be more worried about. The woman was an unknown but they knew the power the male senshi wielded already and it wasn't something to be trifled with.

As he caught up to Tourmaline and the senshi he made his way closer to his youma knowing that even with it attacking the senshi his Pet would make sure to protect him as well. It's body blocking most of the senshi's view of him would make it easier to strike as well. The poor senshi wouldn't see what was coming.

His mild amusement was cut short as he saw the flash of the male senshi's magic and heard his Pet screech as one of the orbs crashed into it's head leaving a black scorch mark across it's muzzle. "Now now, you're supposed to play nice."

His sentence was punctuated by the crash of metal and stone as the head of his meteor hammer crushed the small roof the senshi was standing on leaving Arsinoe scrambling to keep his footing as the brickwork crumbled under him.

Tourmaline had no idea what to expect from the raven haired senshi's attack. She'd heard the other woman's words and had been so very tempted to laugh until she felt the cold creeping over her. The dread darkened her eyes as it loomed over her, quickening her pulse beyond the thrill of the battle. "Revenge, pretty? We've only just met?"

The sudden rush was unexpected, the cold air sweeping through her. She braced herself for a more physical impact and felt... Nothing. Nothing at all. Tourmaline grinned and this time she did laugh. "Was that it? All you've got? Oh, pretty, I know a Super on my side who can do more than that. Come on, Birdie. Show me what you've got."

Teeth bared in a grin, Tourmaline shook off that odd feeling for the time being, pushing past it to the rush the idea of actual danger brought. She charged at the senshi, claws bared to take a swipe at the other woman.

-----

"s**t." Corvus muttered beneath her breath, uncertain as to what she had expected other than her magic actually working. She could activate her powers without being attacked now, that much she knew, but was the impact of it really that little? Or... We've only just met..

Tourmaline hadn't hurt her. She could let the General know that she was coming, but the pact that she had made with her homeworld was that she would strike fear, but not harm, until they had harmed her.

Corvus braced herself for impact, bringing her arms up and crossing them at her bracers to deflect what she could of the General's blow. Metal claws grazed off of her bracelets, dragging down her gloves and shredding the light fabric. It stung-- much like a cat scratch, or a paper cut that had only been discovered after applying anything with alcohol in it to the skin. The pain brought everything back into focus, leaving her free to attack again. Except...

Except her arm was going numb around the area of the scratch. <********>. Arsinoe hadn't mentioned that. Hand to hand, yes, but she should have asked about any magic the General might have had. <********>. ********.

Holding her arm to herself, Corvus swept a low kick at the General's feet, catching the arrogant woman off guard and sending her down to the ground. It gave her the opportunity to put some space between them, willing the feeling in her arm to come back. "Any time now, Eta...."

The building crumbling under his feet wasn't expected, the Captain not looking like he could wield as much force behind that weapon as he did. Arsinoe took a tumble to the ground, pulling himself up as the youma closed in on him. The creatures teeth just missed taking a chunk out of his arm but it's claws raked down along his side easily enough.

With the way he was moving they mostly caught his clothes, the tips just catching flesh enough to stink, as he pulled himself away.

"Corvus! Roof Now."

He needed to breath for a moment, actually see what was going on. Ignoring the curse that the Captain spit out as he vaulted up onto the low building's main roof he scrambled over to the edge to see if his cousin had heard him. They needed to reassess the situation. They needed back up.

--------------------------------------------

"That will help you far less than you think Firefly." He smirked. Reaching out he caught the Pet's head, checking the scorch mark before looking to see how Tourmaline was fairing. He could send the Pet up onto the roof easily enough, chase the senshi down, but he needed something, some one, to chase him down to.

The numbness was starting to wear off, but the burning sting remained. It felt like it was sinking deeper into the tissue-- was it capable of penetrating down to the bone? The scratches hadn't gone that deep. There was no trail of blood speckling the dirt behind her. Was it all in her mind?

Corvus had no time to dwell on the questions rolling through her mind, distracting her from the reality of the fight. Danger loomed behind her just as much as it lurked and lunged after her cousin. They were in trouble. Very real trouble.

-----

"Right behind you, Corvus! Follow Arsinoe!" Eta chimed as she raced across the lot, launching herself at the General's back when she was close enough to spring. It would take time to focus and charge her laser in order to fire it off, but she could definitely run interference for a moment before scampering after the senshi to shield them until the rest of their back-up arrived.

The silver Mauvian sank her claws into the General's cape, climbing up the woman's back. She held on as the woman whirled around in an attempt to throw her off, hissing at the General and striking out with her hind paws as the woman took hold of her by the scruff of her neck.

-----

"You're fighting for the wrong side, kitty. I know a couple of Nega Mau who'd just love to spend time with a pretty thing like you." Tourmaline had never been more pleased with her gauntlets and the protection they offered her from the feline's needle-like teeth and claws.

The tabby got in another kick before she tossed the feline away from her, allowing her that brief moment of reprieve on her own terms. Let the Mauvian watch her senshi suffer first. Then they'd take care of her.
