((Takes place in February) Dai was grinning as he walked onto the sparring grounds, and stretching out his arm muscles. He had been out here, most days, working out against the dummies, and he did his daily tai chi or yoga... But this was going to be his first spar since the tourney, and his first spar that wasn't a TOURNEY spar, too. He looked around, eyes glittering as he considered the situation. A battle with his new friend, his cute friend, and then maybe some more chat after the spar too. All in all, this looked to be a good day, and he was feeling fortunate. Even if he got his a** handed to him by Henry, he was still going to come out of it ahead of where he had started. He turned to Henry, and gave him another bright grin. "Ready to go, Henry?"

It felt good to be out in the sun again, or really just out of the pod room in general. He was able to sort of ignore it while he'd been in there, but it really was pretty eerie, and he could already feel the tension starting to ease from his shoulders as he stretched his arms above his head as he walked behind Dai, following the boy out onto the training field. "Yeah," he answered, arms lowering again and Niceven appearing in a flicker of pale green runes. "I'm ready." It'd gotten easier, as they'd talked more. The conversation just sort of naturally heading away from the weight of flirtations or experience, and that had been fine, too. They'd even found a common interest in video games, and that thread had lasted well over an hour. Now though, they were circling back around a bit.

Dai grinned and summoned Fiachra to his hands. The long staff of his glaive was beginning to decently familiar, and he liked the weight of it. It wasn't so heavy that he felt like it was going to break his arms, though the balance was still something he had to learn properly... Sometimes it felt like the blade was going to cause Fia to overbalance in his hands, or go flying. But he still felt it was a better choice for him then something like his sister took to battle with her. "Alright! Sounds good." He grinned and stretched, then shifted his grip on his weapon, until he felt it was properly balanced in his hands, then moved towards Henry, before he made a long swing which he misjudged by a hair, sending the blade swishing right next to Henry's arm. Henry looked comfortable as he handled his weapon. The over-sized star used to feel ridiculously cumbersome to him, but at a certain point he supposed training or trust had won over, and now the unseelie fey felt like an extension of his own arms. He shifted it from left to right as Dai charged in to take a swing at him. The bladed tip of the glaive zipped just past the smaller boy's arm. He'd take advantage of that, stepping forward quickly so he could take a swipe at Dai's arm with the points of the star before the taller boy had a chance to jerk away again. HP: 40 DMG: 1 CHG: 1

Dai winced at the opening he had left, but accepted that as part of the flow of the battle. Henry's weapon, however, got an impressed look. "Nice weapon. Does the size make it harder to throw, or is it still decently balanced for that?" He had to ask, because it was interesting. "Or is it... He? She? not designed for throwing?" Dai took a step back and shifted his grip, then brought Fia up and around in a long swing, making use of the weight of the blade at the end of the pole, aiming more for Henry's side than his arms. "No, they-" He sucked in a breath as the blades connected this time, and hard, making the smaller boy wince slightly as he jerked back and away. "They can be thrown, it's sort of like a frisbee." A frisbee with teeth and cutting edges, but all the same. ~ Why dinnae show'em, boil?~ I guess I could. There was distance enough for it. Turning, Henry planted his feet in the patchy grass and wound up, upper body rotating as he brought the star back, took half a second to aim, and then flung the weapon at the taller boy. HP: 30 DMG: 4 CHG: 2/3

"Ah? A deadly frisbee! Interesting idea." Dai grinned, then saw him do the throw. Dai's brows rose as the star came at him, his brain slowing down for a long moment, than heard a voice that almost never spoke to him. "Idiot boil, you just gon' stand there and get hit?"Dai's eyes went huge and he tried to dive out of the way at the last minute. He failed at that, and had no real chance to attack, with how distracted he had, so foolishly, let himself get. Quote: HP: 35/40 Dmg: 0 Charge: 1/3

"Yeah kinda! I mean, I don't have to throw them, but I can." It made Nicky a very versatile weapon, which Henry was grateful for now that he was used to handling them. Pale brows arched as Dai didn't immediately get out of the way, and he sucked in a sympathetic breath as it connected. A rookie mistake he knew he'd made a few times himself when he'd just started getting to know his weapon, before fighting became normal for him. It was a silly mistake, and he wasn't going to give Dai grief about it. That didn't mean he was going to go easy on him though. As Niceven arced around to spin back to him Henry started running forward to intercept it. Catching it in the air with a little hop, then turning as he landed, feet planted, to bring it around in a downward slash diagonally across the taller man's torso. HP: 30 DMG: 9 CHG: 3/3

"Interesting. Couldn't throw this'un without risking being unarmed for way, way too long. It'd have to be a desperation thing, especially since he's really not designed to fly..." Dai began to shift back, hoping to regain some footing in this situation. He moved into a spot he thought was good, and rebraced. Then Henry came in at an angle he had not expected, and hit him, HARD. He found the air wooshing out of his lungs and his attempt at a return hit became more of a feeble waving of his weapon in the air nowhere near Henry's body. It seemed he was following in his sister's footsteps, and getting his a** handed to him by Henry. Quote: HP: 26/40 Dmg: 0 Charge: 1/3

"Wwll," he started as he came to a stop and pivoted on his heel to face the other trainee again. "In a pinch you can always throw it, desummon, then resummon. It's not ideal, and they'll lose any fear they'd managed to leech, but," he shrugged and left it at that. He doubted Dai would want to utilize his weapon like that, but if he had to he could. His lips twitched a little self consciously, as if he weren't sure the advice would be welcome, and then he squared his shoulders and rolled forward into a sprint that bright him back to the other boy in three quick steps. Another twist, feet planting, and he brought his weapon around and up, slashing along Dai's lower chest and stomach. HP: 30 DMG: 9 CHG: 3/3

"I'll keep that in mind, for sure." Dai said, gasping for air. That hit was still ringing through him, and then Henry's NEXT hit came in, just as hard. He wasn't sure what he was doing wrong, but he was going to figure it out and mentally dissect this battle later, to see what he could find in it, to try to make future battles less challenging for him. However, hard though this hit was, Dai managed to get JUST enough wind back that he was able to recover some poise and managed to use the way he moved after Henry hit him to make a side slash at the other man, the silvery blade of the glaive glittering a little in the light as it came on. This time the glaive clipped him before he could hope back out of reach, and it made he grunt as he jerked away from the blades and pressed a hand over the place where they'd bitten into his shield. It hadn't really hurt, not like it should have, but he still expected it to. The pain response was an automatic thing that he hadn't quite gotten over yet. Taking a few steps back, he considered his next move, weighing his options and what was more likely to hit. Not wishing to leave himself open, he went with the quicker option and flung the star at the other boy with a soft grunt of exertion. It whipped through the air, but the points only grazed his shoulder on the way past him. HP: 24 DMG: 2 CHG: 3/3

Dai swore as the star clipped him, and his own attack left him a little low on air again. He was sure this battle was basically over... He might have a few hits left in him, but he was positive Henry was winning, barring some sort of miracle on Henry's part. Still, he made an attempt at another swing, because there was no way in hell he was going to go down without fighting. And he was pleased, in someways... It gave him a chance, after all of this was done, to praise the hell out of Henry on something that might make him LESS embarrassed. Though, since it would still be flirty, it might not matter. Another attempt to jump away, and again he as a little too slow. He had improved considerably on attacking, but his defense still needed just a bit of work. Not the biggest deal on the training field, but it would definitely make a difference out on missions. But he was still doing well, and focused features melted into the shadow of a smile as he brought Niceven up again between them. Feinting to the side and swiping, though the points hissed by without touching him. HP: 22 DMG: - CHG: 3/3

As the spines of the star slashed past him, Dai twisted to the side, and moved back. He noticed his Glaive's runes were giving that dull glow, and he considered for just a moment, until a voice spoke up. "Ye haven' yet, boil. Do't and learn what we can do together..."Dai's eyes widened a little and he nodded, focusing with his partner as he pulled the glaive up, and than darted forwards. The blade came down, swinging hard, the runes flashing brightly enough to leave a trail behind them, a screaming whine coming out of the blade as it flashed through the air, before striking, with a final flash of the runes.
