Eight years. Sailor Corvus had been patrolling Destiny City for eight years, give or take a period of a few months here or there where she been too broken to push forward either mentally or physically. The streets of Destiny City were different than they were back then. It seemed like there were fewer deaths, less destruction. Had the Negaverse scaled back their attacks or were they simply more subtle? Had senshi learned how to control their magic to the point where there was no massive, lasting damage?

In the past her patrols had taken the form of routine youma dusting. Now? With Arachne returned and Thisbe falling mostly into line beneath his focus her own attentions had been redirected. The stars had called to her and, finally, she had answered.

If it weren't for the ones who kept her grounded on Earth, Corvus was certain she could have simply stayed on her home world. There were days when she felt so at peace that she could just stay.... And others when frustration at the destruction of the past threatened to consume her.

Tonight was one of those nights. She'd reached another dead end in her research. Left with the options of starting over or finding a way to blow off some steam, Corvus had chosen the latter, taking to the streets with conflict and confrontation in mind-- Not peace, no olive branches in her hands. How long had it been since she'd gone out in a fighting mood? How long...?

A year, nearly. Corvus had responded to an S.O.S call from someone she considered a dear friend; a dear friend that she had let down, no doubt, in distancing herself the way she had. There was no changing that. She couldn't go back, only forward, and forward was taking her into a run down section of the city that had seen much better days... And likely nicer nights.

As the Senshi of Vengeance hopped down from the fire escape onto the street she glanced around. She could feel Chaos lingering in the air nearby; equal to her level, and hopefully ready to fight. "There's no point in dancing around. Come out and we'll get this over with..."

The mind was a thing that was better off empty. It was easier to do one’s job without worrying about growing a sudden conscience. Again, she had been loath to go and report on the boy. On Cookie. Or whatever his name was. There wouldn’t be that much to report after all…she had no real information on him…just the fact that he too was…no longer a youma.

When had she gotten so…weak? Had she really been shaken so badly by Cinnabar…Tanais? Had Camelot stupid words wormed their way so far into her mind so quickly? How pathetic was she? She was supposed to be a mighty person. A fierce soldier of the Negaverse and here she was having more doubts than she could honestly battle back. And she had nobody to talk to about them. Nobody to give advice…she supposed she could try to talk to Gently again…but the last time.

The very thought of the pain at being separated from her soul made Cavansite rub absently at her chest, her hand brushing against the starseed that she wore there.

Damnit.

The words and the aura caused Cavansite to jump, the action upsetting her seat on the edge of the building that she had been sitting on. With a groan of annoyance, the General landed almost catlike on the ground in front of the senshi and stood up again, brushing the front of her outfit with an expression of disgust on her face. “Are you in the mood to die tonight, senshi? I’m not really someone who most people would want to challenge, Eternal or not.”

She flicked her hand and her spear materialized in it, and for a moment she just watched the senshi, fighting again with her stupid mind. The conscience that gently told her to talk rather than fight. Perhaps this senshi could help.

What a stupid thought.

Looking the girl over, Cavansite did like what she saw, at least. The senshi was quite beautiful, something she hadn’t really bothered to care about in recent times…but for some reason could appreciate it now…and the fact that she seemed almost…ready for a fight was interesting.

Cavansite did like interesting. And well. Perhaps she needed it right now.

“Perhaps I could be persuaded to let you go in exchange for that lovely necklace of yours. I do just adore collecting delicate things.” Her voice had dropped to almost a purr, and when she was sure the conscience had quieted, Cavansite gripped the spear tighter and shifted just slightly. If she really was looking for a fight, then no trades would be given…which meant that she would have to get what she wanted by other means.

…And that was just fine.

"This old thing?" Fingers clad in midnight gloves brushed over the cabochon resting upon her breast, brow lofted in regard to the General before her. "I'm afraid it's not nearly as delicate as it looks. We've been around the block together-- I'm afraid as wary as I was with it all at first, and as weary as I once was, I've grown rather fond of it."

Her hand dropped away from her necklace, stormy eyes watchful as the General's grip shifted on her spear. A General with a spear... Was this one of the ones that Mag Mell had cautioned her in regards to?

Would it matter if she was?

Corvus took a deep breath as her fingers curled into fists, shifting her stance to one of readiness. In days past it had taken an opponent striking first for Corvus to feel as she did-- to feel that well of magic pooling inside of her, ready to be tapped into as opposed to held back behind a dam. It should have startled her, should have made her pause to question. Instead it guided her, urging her to battle, singing to her soul.

"I am Sailor Corvus and tonight vengeance is mine."

Challenge issued, the Senshi of Vengeance uttered the words to summon her attack, calling upon the power of her stars. The shadows cast by the light of the alley gathered around her, pooling at her feet only to rise up, ominous wings forming to spread behind her before the aura rushed forward to envelop her foe.

Orangeish Sherbert
Let's get down to business...

Attack #1b - Violent Revenge!
[Once activated a shadow rises up behind Sailor Corvus, looming and shifting until it takes the shape of wings spreading behind her. The shadow brings with it an imposing aura that spreads out to Corvus's attacker, leaving behind a feeling of cold dread as if divine vengeance is looming near.

This time vengeance closes in, bringing with it a forceful impact of negative energy. This 'punch' is the force of vengeance, returning the damage that was dealt to Corvus by her opponent (if two opponents are attacked the damage is halved between them).]

Duration: Activation requires one post from Corvus with the after effects felt in her opponent's next immediate post. After effects should fade following that.
Avoidable: If the opponent can make it outside of the shadow's reach, yes, but Vengeance moves fast and most lower level opponents are unable to get out of range fast enough.
AOE: Up to two opponents within 20ft radius per attack. Must be within 10ft of one another.
Uses: 2 -- Does not have to be directed towards the same opponent each time, provided she has been attacked by more than one.

Cavansite snorted and rolled her eyes at the introduction. Like she actually cared. Though…

Though after a moment she didn’t really feel much like laughing. Perhaps what the senshi had said had been starting her magic…that would explain why those strange wings had suddenly appeared and why Cavansite felt as though the world was about to end and she was going to get all of the justice that was coming to her from all of the terrible things that she had done.

For a moment, the General couldn’t move, her lavender eyes fixated on the senshi, but finally with great effort she let out an almost passable laugh and darted towards the senshi, spear raised, poised to strike…or at least to strike off the necklace she wore. It seemed only fair after causing this distress that she pay up.

And then it felt as though she was hit by a truck. Well, maybe not a physical truck, but the force of the magic, and she was quite sure now that it was indeed magic was enough to make her stumble back and quietly curse herself for not just teleporting behind the senshi when she had first made the stupid introduction.

Sailor Corvus, an Extra b***h if there ever was one.

But. She was sloppy, Cavansite knew that. Her mind wans’t all there, and she could still turn this around. She could still bring the senshi to her knees but. But.

“How like a senshi, hiding behind your magic and trying to fight instead of doing the intelligent thing and just giving me your stupid necklace. I suppose you must have a death wish, don’t you little Corvus?” That was her name, after all…and if she spoke again about her vengeance…well. Cavaniste would be ready for it this time.

“I’ll give you one last chance. Hand over the necklace, or I’ll run you through. I’m not normally one to give second chances, so you should consider yourself lucky.”

It was difficult to keep control of her limbs, and the arm holding her spear was trembling from the fear that had been aroused due to the stupid magic…but that wouldn’t stop her. That couldn’t stop her.

She was a General. She was someone to be feared.

“Let me add you to my collection. Be a good girl, now, won’t you?”

"Sorry, sweetheart. That's not how things are going to work tonight. I'm afraid you won't be collecting any part of me. The necklace stays." Cavansite would have no way of knowing that the night Corvus had awakened had been reported as a mugging. Back then Cordelia Carden, not yet Sailor Corvus, would have handed over anything to keep herself safe.

Now?

Now she had the power to defend herself.

She should be more afraid than she was. She should be concerned for her well being, worried about the spear and staying just beyond it's range. Negaverse officers were enhanced with superhuman strength as well. A spear could become a javelin, she could find herself impaled on a charge, or worse if the General saw fit to teleport. Corvus should have been a number of things, but the only thing that stood out in her mind was determined.

"Are you going to stand around and puff yourself up, or are you going to fight me? Stop talking about second chances and do something already."

Cavansite didn’t like when people suddenly got the upper hand in a situation. She enjoyed being the one in control. She enjoyed…the illusion of power. And sometimes she did enjoy being ruthless and violent but…honestly she just enjoyed being feared more than anything else.

She narrowed her eyes slightly at the senshi and scoffed. “That was a stupid choice, don’t you think? Isn’t it always better to appease people like me? Try and coddle them until they feel bad for what they’ve done and repent of their sins? Isn’t that your job?”

It was Camelot’s ******** job. Or at least he acted like it was. And there were others who acted the same. Others who had…whatever. If this b***h wanted a fight. Then fine. She would…fight enough to get that necklace, and be done with it.

“Fine, princess. I’ll oblige you, but remember, you asked for it.” The spear was moved slightly, and without much thought, Cavansite teleported behind the senshi, trying to angle the spear enough so it cut through the lacy fabric of the necklace, then letting out a soft oath as she noticed the small parts that linked it to the front of her bodice.

Perhaps she should have just attacked from the front or…or gone for something else but…

…She was committed now.

"I didn't come this far, I didn't survive for this long by appeasing people like you!" Corvus spat back at the space that had been occupied only seconds ago by the General. Her words did not come fast enough for her to account for the teleportation, or even realize that it had happened before she felt the spear head grazing her skin.

The General could have run her through, but she hadn't. Instead the other woman had remained fixated on the necklace. That was fine by Corvus as the action had likely saved her life, but now wasn't the time to linger on that thought. Now was the time for further action.

Corvus brought her left hand up in front of her, reaching to snag the General's spear by the shaft just above the head. She gave it a firm yank down in an attempt to throw the the other woman off as she brought her right elbow up into her midsection. "You talk too much."

Cavansite hissed as she felt the elbow in her gut and she shook her head, thinking quickly. “I talk too much? That’s my job, isn’t it? I’m a villain.”

Wasn’t she?

Banishing her spear, Cavansite again teleported behind Corvus, grabbing her shoulders, she spun the senshi around, grinning wolfishly…or at least, she hoped she was. “I’ll show you talking too much.”

Her hand reached into the senshi’s chest, fingers gently brushing against the crystalline soul that was encased in there, the starseeds that she wore on her outfit glinting dully in the light of the night. If this b***h wanted a fight. She would give a fight. But…she won. This was her victory. She would have more than just the necklace…she could modify it, even. Take off the stone and wear the senshi’s starseed proudly in its place.

‘Maybe we could... Could have been friends... In some other time.’

The General stiffened slightly as the memory crossed her mind. A memory that she had though she had buried. The first…special starseed she had stolen. That pretty little Cosmos knight that had almost ruined…everything.

For a moment, Cavansite stood there, her eyes raking over Corvus, torn between just ripping out the gem and being done with it…and trying again to find some way to force this woman to try and help.

Not that she needed it. But…if people kept on…

Maybe one day she would listen.

Her free hand reached up, rested against the senshi’s cheek for a moment, and finally ripped the necklace off completely.

“You don’t seem to want to talk enough, foolish girl.” The words were soft, and after another moment of hesitation, the hand slipped from her chest, leaving the starseed right where it was supposed to be.

Cavansite turned then, clutching the necklace in her hand. “The next time, I’ll take that pretty gem in your chest to replace the one on here. The next time, you won’t walk away from our fight.”

Victories, in what experience Eternal Sailor Corvus had with them, came at the end of a battle hard fought. Victory came with a price on its head, a price that every victor had to pay before they could make off with the spoils of war. Corvus was going to make sure that Cavansite paid that price if it was the last thing she did.

She glared at the General, eyes filled with the rage of a storm over the sea, teeth gritted against the pain brought on by the violation of her starseed. Something pulsed within her, bright and pure but not quite strong enough to do what was needed-- not entirely there. She didn't know what it was, wasn't in the place right now to examine it or pick apart the intricacies of the magic that was working within her.

Corvus was fortunate that when the General drew back it was only with her necklace. The chain snapped and rings popped away, scattering to the asphalt where they would linger until she powered down. The General would find the pendant warm against her hand from the way it had rested so close to the senshi's chest.

The senshi waited, silent and filled with fury, until the moment the General's hand left her chest empty. She remained still as the General stepped away from her, gathering the storm within before softly whispering three words.

"Murder of Vengeance."

The shadow that rose behind her splintered into the form of crows, the shadows swarming the General at the raven-haired woman's command. The sound of angry caws and beating wings followed their flight, surrounding Cavansite as they pecked and clawed. It was a distraction-- a last ditch effort made by Sailor Corvus to keep the General at bay as she made her escape.

While her attack lingered the Senshi of Vengeance ran, knowing that the murder would only buy her so much time. She made it just far enough to disappear, taking to the rooftops and sprinting a few blocks over before powering down once she was safe, erasing her aura from the map and the night and taking whatever traces of shadows left behind with her.

The only thing that remained of Sailor Corvus when the cacophony lifted would be the amulet in Cavansite's hand-- still warm, the runic symbol of protection etched deep within the cabochon.

Orangeish Sherbert
Attack #2 - Murder of Vengeance!
[Once activated a shadow rises up behind Sailor Corvus. It bursts into a murder (flock) of shadowy crows which are then under Corvus's command for the duration of one round. On her command the crows will close in on their targets as a unit with beating wings, scratching talons and pecking beaks.

As they depart they leave behind a feeling of cold dread, as though vengeance has not finished and will return for its opponent again.]
PostPosted: Sun May 13, 2018 6:44 pm

It hadn’t been a plea for help, not really. And if it had been, clearly Cavansite had done it wrong. The wings and claws and beaks weren’t expected, and the general whipped her head around, fully intent to call the senshi back. To give back the necklace. Maybe to even apologize but…

It was too late.

The birds vanished after a long moment and when they vanished, Cavansite felt cold. Empty. Almost dreading the fact that the senshi would come back and just…

Make things worse.

Quietly she clutched the necklace for a moment, then stowed it away in that strange subspace that she possessed, and teleported without another thought.

Tonight hadn’t been a victory.

Tonight really hadn’t…been anything.
