Horus wasn't really into sports, but due to his heritage growing up he constantly had to strive to be good in everything. So here he was on the field working on his traps and cut backs. It was hard with out a partner but he had a bit of a reputation at school of not being the most friendliest, although any one that saw him with his friend Samara would be hard pressed to understand where that rumor came from. However Samara was busy today so it was just him on the field. Seriously just because he was an elf didn't mean he thought he was entitled to anything. Suddenly his ankle bucked and he hit the ground hard. Great now his pants were going to be scuffed up and his knee was going to start throbbing. Guess that is what he got for not paying attention.

Alexander enjoyed sports and being active, he loved helping others so hanging out with someone who wasn't good at sports was a good time in his book. He had heard that Horus wasn't really friendly, but he figured he would see for himself and not judge by rumors till he experienced hanging out with Horus for himself. Alex being part grimm and part fey didn't really have a stand on elves he also hadn't really hung out with any so he wasn't sure how he felt about elves in the first place. Alexander arrived at the soccer field just as Horus fell down. He hurried over wanting to help. Not thinking about any of the rumors he had heard only thinking about his desire to help. "Hey, are you ok? Do you want me to take you to the school nurse?"

Of course there was a witness to see his fumble. He lightly groaned at the prospect. However it wasn’t as if his classmate had caused the injury and so there was no excuse to turn his agitation on the hybrid. While Horus would admit to being extremely prideful he wasn’t one to take it out on others especially when they didn’t deserve it at all. So he would just suck up his injured pride. Horus took a deep breath before looking up. “Just a little scrape, I’ll be fine in no time” Horus replied getting back up. “Not my most graceful moment I will admit. Sorry if I worried you at all”. There that was good manners right?

Alexander smiled and offered his hand to help the other junior up. "Don't apologize getting hurt isn't your fault." The response reminded Alex of his sibling who was very gentle and apologetics at times. Alexander grinned "Well if you are still up for playing want me to help to do that without falling down?" Alexander loved helping others and he hoped his offer wouldn't offend the other junior. "Oh yea I'm Alexander by the way." Alex couldn't believe he had forgotten to introduce himself. He rubbed the back of his head and made a face feeling foolish at his own mistake.

“It’s an ingrained attempt at manners I suppose. I will try not to do so again in the future” Horus responded and then tilted his head to the side. It was true that practicing with someone else would be better in the long run but Horus tended to try to turn everything into a competition. It was practically an unconscious need at this point. However if he didn’t try to play with others then he couldn’t ever cure himself of that tic right? “Sure wouldn’t hurt” Horus finally spoke up after a few beats of silence, his mind finally made up. “Nice to meet you Alexander, I’m Horus, but most people actually call me Heru.”

Alexander so didn't understand this junior but hey he didn't have to get everyone perfectly to like them anyway. That was what he liked about the Below the differences in the world not the sameness of cookie cutter beings. He shook his head and laughed "Well ok then. But if you do I don't mind my sibling dose it all the time." He said with a grinn thinking fondly of his sibling. "Then I'll call you Heru if that is alright." Alex said with a smile "I normally go by Alexander, but Alex is alright too." Alexander kicked the ball to pop it up into the air and aimed to kick it towards the net. Then he ran to get the ball and lined it to show Heru how to do a basic kick. "See?" He said turning his foot to kick the ball at an angle instead of head-on.

“Alex, it’s a pretty cool name.” Horus replied. He was pretty good with names so he didn’t have to worry too much about forgetting it, not that he really thought he was in any danger of forgetting. “Go right ahead with it. I know that Horus is a mouthful.” Names out of the way they finally got into the swing of practicing. Horus watched the movements and in his head compared them to what he had done wrong. He knew how to kick but learning how some one approached basics was always helpful. Everyone always had their own style. “Not so straight forward and at an angle. I got it” Horus nodded.

Alexander smiled and then said "Thanks." He was glad to have met Heru he really needed more friends since his sibling didn't have a lot of time to hang out with him anymore. Alex stepped back to give Heru a chance to practice kicking the ball into the net. "Ok give it a try." He said in a friendly tone. "So do you like any other sports?" He asked trying to keep the conversation going and then maybe take it in a new direction. See what they had in common. The more he knew the easier it would be to figure out who he met that could be a life long friend.

Horus stepped up to the ball again, this time much calmer than before. The kick wasn’t perfect but at least he wasn’t falling on his tailbone. He would have to work more on it but he was getting it finally. “thank you for the help. Obviously have to practice more but at least I have a better handle on the kick. I like any sort of game where you can test yourself. Favorite is probably baseball. However tennis isn’t bad” Horus spoke up. Wait this was one of the times that you responded back right? “What’s some of yours?” Yeah okay he needed to work on that more.

Alexander grinned "I like games that are challenging too." He listened to what Horus said were his favorites and then the pause, which he didn't mind, his sibling was a little quiet and awkward at times as well. Alex had just learned to be patient and wait for whoever he was talking to get out what they wanted to say in their own time. It hadn't always been easy when he was little but time is a good lesson. "Humm I like soccer of course and running, it can be tricky with my wings but hey easy isn't in my plans, I'm thinking of trying swimming too."

Horus nodded along. Alexander seemed to get it, at least why sports where interesting. Horus tried to keep away from them as he knew his competitive drive made him a down right b*****d when he lost. However the need to prove yourself against an opponent, to use your skills always seemed to win out and it helped keep the parents from truly checking in on him. Plus that feeling when you won with your teammates. “I know there are fallen swimmers and I think the occasional chimera swimmer. If it was easy I don’t think it would be as much fun to win. Then again easy is not to bad with a good friend.” Horus replied. “I think you’ll figure it out”

Alexander grinned "That is really neat if a fallen or a chimera can swim there must be a way from someone with fey wings to swim too." He nodded and then said "Easy is not my goal I want to be a firefighter someday, which won't be easy at all I'll have to protect my wings from fires and get strong enough to carry the gear and other beings who are hurt. Learn magic maybe to help combat fires." His tone was firm and confident "Do you know what you want to be when you grow up?" He asked in a curious tone.
