"All of this nonsense to say 'hello' to someone? How droll."
Helya had started the day out just fine, thank you, waking up next to a cute Grimm with a cute a** and her neck and shoulders covered in little bruises that hinted at a good night before. But now, dressed in her pajamas due to how quickly she'd hauled her a** over to see what Silver wanted to talk about, she was less than happy. Of course, her hair and makeup were absolutely flawless, as always. Her tail gently thumped against the ground as she stared their fearless leader down.
"It is more important than you might think, Hel." Silver retorted. As always, he was dressed well, almost elegantly, and looking through a stack of papers. Hardly seeming to pay attention to his teammate's grumping, his attention turned to their younger teammate as one of his wings got tugged on.
"Yes?" he asked, looking down at the small hybrid over his reading glasses.
Bouncing on her toes, Eira could hardly contain her excitement. Having chosen her cutest, poofiest little dress for the special occasion, she'd already managed to dislodge the bow on her back several times, only managing to not lose it by Silver pulling her over to re-tie it. Even Helya's kind of stormy mood wasn't able to keep her from smiling widely and happily.
"Are we gonna meet him soon?! Kai-Kai told me he's really big! Bigger than--"
"Me. Yes." The too-tall chimera mix interrupted from the back of the meeting room, arms crossed and staring intently at each of the people in the room in turn. Dagyr, as well, was up way too early, though unlike Helya and her escapades, it was due to needing to grade papers late. As such, his clothing was similar to Helya's, a sleeveless tank and a pair of baggy sweatpants went rather well with his overall physique and look. "Don't let him fool you. He's not...bad." There was hardly a decent way to explain how their arriving guest acted without spoiling their two newer members.
"Oh wow!" Eira exclaimed, covering her mouth with her hands. Dagyr was huge, at least to her, and she couldn't begin to fathom how tall anyone else could be.
"It's not that amazing." The final chimera in the room huffed, crossing her arms over her chest and striding over to where Silver and Eira sat. Kaiju had chosen a middle road between the 'This is important' of Silver and Eira, and the 'i don't care' of Helya and Dagyr. A blue, almost-black turtleneck and some black slacks sufficed, though her hair did look as if it needed a brush run through a few times. "...But he's amazing. Overall, I mean. It's not like just being tall makes someone awesome."
"Jealous, Kaijuju?" Helya teased with a purr, leaning forwards in her chair towards the chimera hybrid and fluttering her eyelashes.
"Hardly." With a small scoff, Kaiju stared Helya down, waiting until she leaned back in her chair and stopped with that ridiculous eye fluttering. "All I know is that Silver knows and trusts him-"
"With my life." Silver finished, putting down the stack of papers finally and pulling off his reading glasses. "And while he is rather...large, in more ways than one, he is--"
"Oh, speaking from experience~?" Helya teased, only to yelp as Dagyr gently bapped her upside the back of the head.
"...As I was saying, he is much like Dagyr here." A nod towards his friend before he continued. "But his looks are usually very deceiving. At least, I have not met anyone he has bumped into who has not been startled."
"Whoa...He's gotta be scary-looking too then, huh?" Eira ventured, eyes wide and staring at her mentor.
"You could say that." Shrugging, Kaiju took a seat next to Helya, leaning away when the chomp tried to lean over to lean her head on her shoulder. "He's seen some s**t is all. Done some s**t."
"Nothing awful" Dagyr added as he noticed Eira's eyes somehow got wider. "...Though that comes from a certain point of view."
"And your point of view is really weird." Helya teased when she was finished grumping at Kaiju.
"It's..." The argument died in his chest, and Dagyr, finding no reason to argue with Helya, simply looked away towards a far wall.
"But when is he going to BE here?!" Eira broke the silence, nearly yelling at Silver and bouncing in place again, stopping only when he put a hand on the top of her head.
"Soon, I should hope. He has never been too late, before."
"But he HAS been late." Kaiju rolled her shoulders, leaning away from Helya's second attempt at leaning on her shoulder. "But never late enough to cause issues. At least, not to my knowledge?" Her gaze went from Silver to Dagyr.
"...Once." He admitted.
"Once?" Helya inquired further.
"Once." Dagyr sighed after realizing he'd have to explain. "It was after he'd had an accident. Wasn't his fault, really."
"An accident?!" Eira's eyes, once again, were wide and intense and curious.
"I will let him explain, should he wish to." Silver smiled as he ruffled Eira's short, fluffy hair. "It is not my place to divulge his past and his deeds before you even meet him."
"Will he even, yanno, tell us?" Helya couldn't help but express her interest in the mysterious man they were to meet soon. Well, soon as possible.
"Probably." Having given up on constantly leaning away and making it a game for her teammate, Kaiju sighed as Helya finally settled her head on her shoulder. "He like to tell stories though, so you gotta decide if you're gonna believe him or no-"
"They're true." Dagyr interrupted. "They're grandiose and he sometimes adds details that you don't need to know, but all his stories are true. He doesn't like to lie often at all."
"But...he HAS lied, apparently?" Helya raised a brow.
"Yes, he has." Silver admitted. "And it led to...things. Happening to him. I have not known him to lie to myself, to Dagyr, or to Kaiju."
"I'd trust him!" Eira said excitedly.
"...Seriously?" Helya scowled at their youngest teammate, who promptly shrunk away from her piercing gaze. "You don't even know the the guy and on Silver's words you'd trust him?"
"W-well..."
"Enough of that, Hel." Dagyr all but commanded, now scowling at Helya. "There's no need to start on with that. And besides--"
Cut off by a sound in the hallways, everyone's ears perked. Heavy footsteps grew nearer and nearer until there was a gentle, almost metallic-sounding knock on the door. Being the one closest to the door, Kaiju shrugged Helya's head off her shoulder and got up, opening the door just a crack to check if it was who they were expecting.
She didn't get a chance to fully open it herself before she had to jump away, but clearly not far enough as a large, clawed metal-bound arm and one...large, clawed not-metal arm wrapped around her and pulled her into what could only be a bone-breaking hug, judging from her loud gasp in surprised and the air being forced out of her lungs.
"Kaiju! It's been way too long!" The large man's boisterous voice echoed through the room, and while both Silver and Dagyr seemed wholly unaffected, Eira couldn't help but shrink back, and Helya to scowl.
"G-good to see you too, Jaeger..." Kaiju managed to breathe out.
"You've gotten heavier since I last saw you! You've been training hard?"
"Y-yeah...but, Jaeger.."
"Huh- Oh!" Releasing Kaiju from his grasp, the large man laughed as she stumbled back, ducking down a bit to fully enter the room. Once he was in, he put his hands on his hips and looked around with a wide, toothy grin. His sharp teeth gleamed, though one in the front seemed to have been chipped, then somehow shaven to become two sharp fangs again. It was clear this man, aside from be an amalgamation of several different races, had definitely seen some whit in his life. Scars littered his body, his face, his arms, his tail. His left arm was replaced by an almost exact replica, seemingly made out of metal but moving as fluidly and as naturally as his arm that remained.
"It is good to see you again, Jaeger." Silver said, getting up from his seat and fluidly almost gliding over to place a hand on the large man, who returned the gesture with a grin.
"You're telling me." Jaeger's voice had a slight drawl to it, and his laughter that came with him was deep and hearty. Once he'd patted Silver's shoulder once and twice, his gaze switched to the two youngest in the room, his intense eyes looking them over once, twice...several times. Judging, gauging, and waiting. For now.
Eira was the first to get over the apparent shock that had hit both her and Helya, striding over to Jaeger and staring at him in wonder. It was really quite rude, and Helya quickly joined her, if only to try and avert the young hybrid's gaze a bit.
"Ehm...Yes, a great pleasure to meet you~" Helya purred, wrapping her arms around Eira's shoulders as she fluttered her eyelashes at Jaeger. "We've been hearing soooo much about y-"
"How did you lose your arm?!" Eira blurt out, interrupting her.
As the room fell deathly silent, Kaiju slapped a hand to her face, and Silver pinched the bridge of his nose, Jaeger seemed to scowl a bit. The silence went on just long enough for it to almost become uncomfortable.
At least, until Jaeger bellowed out a laugh, stepping forward to place a clawed hand on Eira's head, ignoring her yelp, and ruffling her hair vigorously. It broke the tension at least, and Dagyr huffed a sigh of relief.
"I've heard of you, little one! Eira, right?" Jaeger asked once he was done messing her hair up, and Eira stared at him with once-more wide eyes. "It would be a story to tell for sure! I'd be happy to tell you, and...Helya, right?" He grinned widely at the mentioned, and Helya flipped her hair a bit with a wink. "But first! I say we go for dinner! I could use some good food!"
