Delighted by how easy it was to switch between Nacrite and her own born with skin, Canary smiled coyly at the kid manning to register and paid for thetwo large bags full of burger-y goodness before gathering them up and heading outside. Sure, it'd be a little on the cold side, but better a cold nose than havign some rando overhear their conversation.
"This bag's yours," she said as she shoved one towards Karone. "And I've got the malteds here. I know a nice little grotto where we can talk and no one'll be able to listen in without us knowing.
In fact, once they'd gotten far enough from the restaurant, she'd powered back up into Nacrite, acting like a kid with a brand new toy.
"Seriously, why would anyone not want to stay like this? It feels amazing. Better than amazing, in fact. Oh, hold on, I've got your fries in my bag. Could I have taken out the restaurant like this?"

Karone grinned, taking the bag and walking with her lieutenant, laughing as she powered up again. Things like this, acting normal…spending time with people she liked…this was what she should be doing. Not thinking of things she couldn’t control. Not…worrying about stupid things that had no reason to be in her head, clouding her mind with poison…it was useless.
“Well, Nacrite darling,” She reached out and pressed a finger lightly against the younger woman’s nose, grinning rather wolfishly. “As fun as it is and as powerful as you are, remember that when you’re powered up, others can sense you. People may come to attack you just based on the fact that you have chaos pulsing through your veins…but what they don’t realize is just how powerful you are, and how stunning and stylish, and if you mean could we have killed every person in that restaurant, the answer is yes. Easily, especially if I had joined you in the act. Ripping out souls is quite satisfying, and quite easy if you know what you’re doing…and I’m going to teach you, as well as I might.”
…Even though the thought made her stomach churn slightly, and even though she was sure that she didn’t want any part in teaching Nacrite any of this…in fact, she partially wished she could start to convince the girl to get out while she still could…but…
That wasn’t going to happen. “What about it do you like best, darling? The power? That’s my favorite part.”

Frowning slightly, Nacrite led the way to the grotto where they could eat in peace and talk. She wasn't entirely sure she'd meant killing people, but there was something deep inside that quickened at the thought. Even more squirm inducing was this talk of ripping out souls. She could still remember Cavansite's hand inside her chest squeezing. Would she really want to inflict that on another person?
Hrmm... maybe. Depended on the person, she supposed. There were definitely some that she'd enjoy having that sort of power over.
"Eh, I was thinking more just laying everyone out rather than killing. Especially since I saw some kids in there. Not sure I want to add baby killer to my list of accomplishments, y'know? I mean, wouldn't that make us the bad guys? I thought those whatchucallums... senshi were the ******** here."
Opening her bag, Nacrite took a moment to tear a heart bite out of her veggie burger. Chewing quickly and swallowing, she grinned at her General's question.
"Is this a trick question? Of course it's the power. I have every intention of climbing as high up on the ladder of success as I possibly can, whether it's like this or as a tabloid journalist. I'm going to make sure people remember my name," she added, a grimly amused light flickering deep within her eyes.

Cavansite nodded slowly. “I was cautious about killing when I started out. But it does get easier, I assure you. The first few times you’ll be met with guilt, but the reward for filling your quota is always a new rank of power, and I don’t mean just filling your quota once, it will take a while, but keep your eyes on the prize. You will have to take starseeds in order to rank up, and you say that is your goal so…”
Reaching over, Karone grabbed a fry and popped it into her mouth, thoughtful as she chewed.
“Next time I see you, I’ll teach you how to do it. Next time I’ll let you enjoy the rush of snuffing out life…and you say that you don’t want to add babykiller to your list of accomplishments…but…”
When had it become an issue to say what she believed in? This type of pep talk would have been nothing but easy a month or two ago, and now it wasn’t. Now it was confusing, concerning…she wasn’t sure what to do or think…wasn’t sure how to spin this right.
“We’re not the bad guys, but to the senshi we are, and personally, I like to have some fun with that. We need the starseeds for the Negaverse, sacrifices must be made in order to keep our ranks strong. If you want to think of yourself as the villain…do it. It’s a lot more fun that way, and people remember you more.”
There. That worked, maybe. It didn’t feel…good…but it worked.

"Maybe so, but all the same," Nacrite tried to imagine herself standing over the body of a tiny child and shuddered. "I've run too many amber alerts on my show to want to rush out and terrorize a teensy kid. Besides, once that happen, Nancy Grace gets involved and blurgh."
Pausing for a moment to inhale a few bites of veggie burger, Nacrite suddenly threw her head back and laughed, clearly delighted with whatever thoughts were sifting through her brain.
"Let's go after Nancy Grace instead. That one would be a ******** public service!"
Still chuckling, the lieutenant inhaled the rest of her meal, the noise of the last drops of milkshake being sucked through a straw echoing through the grotto.
"Okay, so," she said, suddenly business-like. "You say sacrifices gotta be made and I actually agree with that. But kinda curious now since I thought the whole goal was gettin' energy, but you say starseeds. So which is more important? I mean, what's the ultimate goal? We gonna take over the world or what?"

Karone smiled and gave a small chuckle of her own, watching her recruit mull things over. “I don’t disagree with you, if you wanted to, I wouldn’t stop you, that’s for sure…but as for energy and starseeds. We need both. Desperately, honestly. You have quotas for both of them, but right now since you’re new I’ve been pushing the energy quota more than the starseed one, though, as you continue to rank up and energy is easier to obtain, you’ll start having to harvest more and more starseeds. It will be easier as time goes on, you won’t think about the people you’re harvesting from, and besides, you don’t have to target children, and honestly I’m not quite sure where you got the idea in your head.”
She ate another fry and gave an almost inaudible sigh. “You can target drunks. Violent people. Clean the streets up if you want. Lord knows there are enough waifs around. I used to linger near bars, picking up the drunks who were pushing around women, it’s satisfying…snuffing out the life of such a person. Getting to watch the fear on their face as they realize that Karma is here, and it’s you.”
Grabbing another fry, Karone looked at Nacrite and grinned lightly. “Of course we are. We are going to make the world better through our actions. How have you not understood that until now, Nacrite. I’m a little disappointed in you.”

Chortling a little to herself at the idea of undertaking a mission to take down Nancy Grace, Nacrite nevertheless listened closely as Cavansite explained things. Nodding to show that she understood the distinctions, the recuit sighed a little.
"I guess I assumed about the kids. That's my bad and I shouldnt' have been so quick to jump the gun there."
Wadding the trash from her meal up, the lieutenant set it to the side, ready to scoop up and toss once they left this place. She rather liked her General's suggestion of going after the more troublesome members of society. The idea of being some sort of demented, avenging angel appealed hugely.
"I always did wanna be able to make sure certain folks got hit with a karma bomb," she burbled gleefully. Still listening, she hung her head in mock shame. Of course they were out to take over the world. Of course they were.
"Well, in my defense, I'm still a newbie. But I am going to do my best to make sure you're never disappointed in me again."
Grinning crookedly, Nacrite swept her fingers through her hair and got to her feet. She adored these little lunch dates with her General, but she had a shoot scheduled at the studio and it wouldn't look too good for business savvy Canary Jones to ******** off from work.

Karone watched her lieutenant with obvious affection, chuckling softly. “You’re going to make me proud. I know you are. That’s why I chose you. You were so spunky. You have a lot to learn, of course. But we have time. You’re going to make me proud and one day, you’ll be as strong as I am. I’m excited to see your progress. To be there with you on this journey.”
She stood as well, stretching and picking up her own, mess, taking a few steps to the nearest trash can and placing it inside.
“I’m guessing you have something more important to do now, hm?” Karone laughed and winked Nacrite, feeling quite playful. This was nice. Spending time with her recruits. Enjoying them. Getting to know them. Wasn’t that what Hessonite always pushed? Getting to know your subordinates, giving them ties to you, making it so they don’t want to leave…
And that was what she was doing.
If she were lucky, the poisonous thought of purification would never cross into Nacrite’s mind.

Concentrating slightly and letting Nacrite fade into Canary Jones, the lieutenant laughed and shrugged a little.
"I wouldn't say more important. But if I want to keep people from inquiring any more into my personal life than they already do, I need to head to work. We're filming a segment tonight about alien abductions. I see no reason to not use my little platform to push the narrative we want as far as aliens go. Next week is Dimension X and werewolves. That one is gonna be a little trickier to spin."
Shaking her head a little over the things she put on her show, Canary sighed. But at least now she knew what she was selling wasn't all mindless shlock geared for idiots.
Daring to zip up close to Karone and plant a light kiss on her cheek, Canary winked and darted off into the night. After all, she was just a hard-working gal who'd enjoyed a play date with a friend before work!
Orangeish Sherbert I think we can call this one done~
