The moment the door to Mera's place closed Bushi was off running again, grumbling as he went about how he'd make Gorvis pay for everything that he'd started. To think that b*****d was stalking his family up to this point before making his move. While it was Dovian who gave him an opening he knew he couldn't lay all blame on that. The man had a reason for messing with them and he just had to deal with him. He knew in acting as he was he would have to pay Hestian a fine or two, while Dovian would likely have to bring tribue. Once that was done they would be able to go forward as normal. Or at least as normal as things could be after all that happened today.

Huffing along he found himself glancing from side to side, wondering if he would be able to find a specific guard today. He needed to find him, chat with him, and start to move pieces among his allies in the local guard against Gorvis.

As he approached the place where Phaedra worked he slowed down and set to trying to smooth out his clothing. After a moment he shed his short, wearing just the vest that he'd been wearing over it. He used said shirt to wipe himself down before tucking it away into his pack. Once he was as presentable as possible he went inside, seeking out Phaedra, as well as Gorvis's associate from the others in the crowd.

Gorivs' associate was there, sitting calmly at a corner table and watching the door with a interested eye. When he saw Bushi enter he leaned back in his chair and waited to be seen. He already knew that the man had come looking for his lady friend but she wasn't there. Thanks to him of course.

--------

Phae huffed as she took her coin purse back from the rotten thief that took it. They were out cold on the ground of the alley thanks to her. "Stealing things... really." After a pause she brushed off her dress and grabbed her trident so that she could begin to head back. She had too much to do today to be bothered with common thugs. To think her Bear liked to come to the city alone sometimes. What if someone robbed him? Phaedra knew that Aatos and Profit wouldn't let that happen but it still bothered her.

As she turned to make her way out of the alley she noticed that there was someone else standing at the end of it and she gripped her weapon. Did these people not understand that she had to start dinner soon? Phaedra squared her shoulders and started toward the mystery person but when she got closer and the light lit them up she gave a gasp. His face was all cut up and he was bleeding from his shoulder, but she was sure it was the sweet merchant she'd met earlier that day. He'd been so down and out that she had sold him her necklace at a small price to try and help him make a profit.

He stumbled forward and nearly collapsed into her and Phae dropped her trident without thinking to catch him so that he didn't fall. The man was heavier than he looked. "Oh. Gods, what happened?" If anything it looked like he'd been attacked! With that opening though the man clung to her and started to tell his tale....

((Dun dun dun!!! ))

Bushi glanced around, then walked over toward where the man was sitting. He gave a smile as he settled down across from him, starring at him for a time, before he said, "It's time that we talk, friend." He wasn't sure where Phaedra was but he was sure that she would be back soon enough... and if she didn't get back soon he'd just have to see about getting some information out of this one as to where she'd gone. He doubted that he was at all innocent.

Leaning back in his seat he said, "I would like to discuss where you're going to be standing going forward, I'd rather you not stand on the losing side in what is going to be happening from here on out. Gorvis showed his hand and it's one that's already cost him an eye. Tell me that you're smarter then he is."

From there he set to discussing with the other man how they were going to proceed from here on out. Bushi could use more allies, he had contacts that Gorvis did not, and he knew some guards that could aid the associate. No reason why he should continue to follow someone that couldn't even pay his dues... and was likely going to be either ousted from the guild or left destitute sooner then later. Did the man really want to fall with him over a grudge that wasn't his?

When Bushi sat down the man looked at him and listened to what he said. By the end of it all though he lifted his hands, holding a dagger and twisting it between his fingers. "Easy. I work for Gorvis sure but Miss Phaedra is good people." Just in his tone alone it was clear that the man wouldn't put the woman in harms way. "Me boy is keepin an eye on her and I'll tell ya where she is. First thing though.. Gorvis messed up when he stabbed your boy. It wasn't in the plans." And clearly he didn't like that kind of underhandedness. "All I is wantin is to be able to keep coming here. And if your up for it a bit of gold won't hurt."

"Your lady is four streets over in Hivern Alley."

-------------------

Phae could only stare at the poor man in what could and should be described as shock. Not only because the tale he told her seemed outlandish but also she had to wonder. Then there was the fact that he'd managed to get blood all over her and her dress. Never mind that she wasn't even aware he'd somehow painted the thieves guild symbol on her using his blood. "I think we should get you to a healer." What else was there to do? She certainly didn't know any healing techniques.

Bushi listened to what the other was saying in a calm manner. One couldn't let their anger get to them when they were in the middle of a business discussion after all. Even when he was told where Phaedra was and despite wanting to run off to her he remained sitting for a time as he reached into his pack, digging out a small sack of coin, "Stay way from Gorvis for a time. If you're being honest about what all you've said I don't want you getting caught up in anything to come."

The bag was pushed forward to the man before he got up, "Be sure to just... stay out of the way. I'm sure Hestian has other work for you that can keep you busy and if not I will float you some work." With that he was heading out, toward where he was told that Phaedra would be found. As he walked he found himself back tracking he felt his anger rising again. Damn it, had she gone right to where he'd left that eyeless idiot? If that were the case he was sure this wasn't going to go smoothly. Regardless he was going to leave her with Gorvis, wanting to break them up immediately, and send her back to the restaurant where she was safe.

The man seemed to stumble and Phae had to move so that she was holding his weight a bit more, which meant more blood would get on her (making it look like she was injured as well) and giving him more opportunity to finish the guild symbol he'd made in his blood. Once they were somewhat out of the dark alley she did what she could to get him sitting down. "Ok, take it easy. I'm not exactly sure where the nearest healer is." And it worried her that she didn't. Clearly this poor man needed one. Bad.

With the back of one hand she moved her hangs out of her face, though she still somehow managed to smear blood on her face. "Alright well, we're not too far from where I work so..." Maybe someone there could help? Phaedra started looking around at the buildings near them to see if anyone was around. Oddly enough they weren't. She supposed that was because they were still in the alley, partly at least.

The man reached out and grabbed hold of her leg, assumingly because that was all he could see what with the one eye, and pulled her closer to him. Phaedra blinked. "It's okay, I didn't leave." After that she did what she could to remove his hand as it made her slightly uncomfortable.

Bushi came around the corner in time to spot something that he didn't want to see, Gorvis there with his Sprite. He'd know that the man was going to be near to where she was but this, this was just too much. First he laid hands on Dovian and now he laid hands on her? He started stalking forward, his anger flaring... but it only seemed to spike upon seeing blood all over her. Had he attacked her as well? Cowardly b*****d!

"Gorvis!" He snarled, charging forward toward the man, slamming into his chest with his fist, knocking him away from Phaedra before he stalked forward. He had been debating over how he was going to destroy the man, having thought that it would just be business wise. Now he just wanted to beat the man into the ground with his bare hands. At least that way he would send a message to anyone else out there that wanted to test him. If they had a problem with him then they could come to him, not his family. If Gorvis had to be the sacrifice to make that clear to everyone in the guild then so be it.

She was really at a loss as far as what to do so when she heard the familiar voice of her other half she lit up. "Bear~!" Phaedra was about to ask for assistance when she saw Bushi move forward in a way that she'd never seen before. It startled her into going wide eyed and stepping away to stare almost dumbfoundedly at him. She supposed that with this behavior being displayed the tale that the man had told her was.. true?

Phae moved quickly so that she was standing over Gorvis and glaring at her other half. "Don't you dare lay another hand on him Bushi." Disappointment showed in her eyes as she looked at him. "How could you? Bushi I sold him my necklace because he said he knew you and that he had lost everything after being mugged." She was purposefully no longer using her favorite name for him. "You didn't have to cut up his eye for that! And now you're angry because what? He's near me? What has gotten into you!?"

Gorvis lay on the ground in immense pain but he still couldn't help but to look at Bushi through his one good eye and grin. The man was just solidifying the story he'd told the Sprite. "Sprite.. Sprite please, he's not the man you think he is. He's ruthless. Get away before he hurts you too." Nothing like milking the situation and making Bushi out to be the bad man.

Bushi gritted his teeth, his mind whirling as the Sprite stood between him and his quarry, then looked down at him for a long moment, "Heh, you really are a fool, Gorvis. You keep talking about how dangerous I am and yet you continue to bait me, as though you want to see how dangerous I really am." His lips twisted up into a grim smile as he said, "If you think I'm bad then you should know the one person in the world I'm afraid of is my Sprite here."

Turning his attention to Phaedra he said simply, "Sprite, that man stabbed our son." He felt that there was nothing more that he had to say other then that. Why argue with Gorvis when he could simply tell her the truth of what had happened.

She didn't believe that Bushi would hurt her so she didn't seem to move. But when Bushi started to argue back with the poor man on the ground she yelled at him again. "Bushi! He's not baiting you! It was just a stupid necklace! Have you lost your mi--" Her long ears twitched and she stopped mid sentence. Had she just heard her lover right?

"I'm sorry, what did you just say?" Her eyes closed for a split second before they opened again, this time with a look that could kill.

Gorvis spat at Bushi. "The boy was stealing. Like father like son! Guess we'll see how far up the guild ranks he goes." Moving slowly since he could barely see he got to his feet again and grinned. "We'll see how far the Sprite gets too. Maybe she can surpass you, Bushi. Think she'll make a good thief?" He motioned to Phae's back where he made the guild symbol in his blood. "She knows and I marked her as my initiate. Guild laws mandate she be brought into the fold my friend." Gorvis motioned toward the alley opening where his accomplice stood. "And we've a witness."

Bushi shook his head, "You keep trying to drag them in but I think you keep misunderstanding so much, Gorvis." He said, stepping between his Sprite and the man before him, drawing his blades again, "To keep them separate from that life I gave Hestian something that he's been wanting for ages, do you really think that for you that he'd give up the in with Matori that he's been wanting since the war ended?" That Gorvis thought that he was worth that much was actually kind of... sad, really.

Looking over his shoulder he glanced over at the witness, then back again, "I don't see any witnesses who'd do speak on your behalf anywhere, Gorvis. If anything I see someone that is going to attest to how you were laying hands on my family in various ways to Hestian. I'm sure he'd love to hear about how you've been spending your afternoon."

The man from earlier picked at the food between his teeth with the dagger he held in his hand. "I see no witnesses boss." His eyes leveled at Gorvis before he tossed up the bag of gold then caught it. With that he gave Bushi a nod and whistled for his boy to come along and leave the three of them be.

Phaedra felt her own anger rising. One, Bushi had ignored her after dropping a bombshell that this man had hurt their son. Two, now apparently her lover was a thief and not denying it. In fact he seemed to be boasting about his position at the moment.

She turned and moved so that she was once again between Bushi and Gorvis, only this time she yanked one of the blades out of Bushi's hand. "Eadenur. If you tell me that you left our son after he was stabbed I will gut you when I'm finished with this worthless sack of ****." Phaedra didn't really give him much time to reply as she was advancing on Gorivs. "You made the wrong choice today. No one touches my children." Even if Bushi had been joking about her being the only one he was scared of he might truly feel that way now. Gorvis would barely be leaving that alley and if/when he did he would no longer have a tongue or most of his fingers. "Come near me or mine again and you will wish for death." After she was finished marring his person she turned to glare at Bushi.

Bushi gave the other man a nod, watching him as he and his boy left, gold in hand. That had likely been one of the best investments that he could have made he thought to himself before turning back to the scene had hand... and then gave a sound of surprise as one of his knives was plucked from his hand by a very, very angry Sprite. One that was kind of bordering on being an Imp instead at the moment he thought to himself as he watched her.

No matter how angry she was at the moment, or the fact that she was quite happy to use said knife on Gorvis, he couldn't help to find her extremely attractive at the moment. Likely something that she wouldn't want to hear but he couldn't help it. There was just something about her when she was at her scariest. After she was done he got his shirt out of his pack, stepping forward, offering it to her, "Dovian wasn't just left behind, Sprite. I brought him to the best healer that I know. She invoked powerful healing magic to aid him in his recovery and he's resting now. Shura was sent to pick him up so that he can be brought home."

He glanced back at Gorvis, then shook his head, "Well... the plan was to take them home while I dealt with that one but it seems that I no longer have to."

As Bushi offered his shirt to her she tossed his dagger to the side rather angrily and snatched the garment from him. Phaedra wiped her face, neck and shoulders before making her hands somewhat clean. When she was finished she balled it up and threw it violently at Gorvis. "Clean yourself up you're bleeding on the cobblestone."

Moving to pick up her trident from where it lay on the ground she paused long enough to look at Bushi once more. "You had better hope he is safe with Shura." Phaedra sighed and headed for the exit of the alley. She'd just gone through a whirlwind of emotions and right now she was crashing from intense anger going into betrayal. How did one even handle something like this? Well, she knew how to handle betrayal, she'd had it before in her life, but this one felt... worse.

Phae wanted nothing more than to run right to where Dovian was and hug him tight, but she didn't think she could do that if Bushi were there. She would just keep going from anger to betrayal to panicked mother.

A part of him wanted to take his shirt back, not wanting Gorvis to have access to it... but he decided against it, isntead following along after Phaedra. Best that he stuck with her or else she might just vanish, possibly back to her homeland, and then what would he do? He wasn't really sure. The family he'd built with her was the only family he'd ever had, it wasn't something that he wanted to see scattered to the winds over someone like Gorvis.

"He is. Shura wouldn't let anything happen to him, she's overprotective to a fault." He said, wanting to believe that the pair would be waiting either with Mera or back at the stand, but it was hard to say. If Dovian actually did go through with telling Shura, then what? Where would they be? Would they stick around or would they run off? He couldn't really see them running away since they would still want to find Phaedra. Would they go to her? He couldn't really say he knew what they might do, he just knew what he had told them to do.
