Katrina Halloran owed a number of things to Priscilla Stratford, although there were times when she was loathe to admit it. She knew for a fact that she would not have made it as far in the Negaverse had it not been for the presence of the Senshi of Candy egging her on and antagonizing. If it hadn't been for the way Prissy had reacted with calm and cool on the surface to the events that had caused her to fall into a spiral anything could have happened. Instead of achieving the rank of General she might have moved on to stronger, more dangerous things when alcohol was no longer what she needed to chase the thoughts and memories away.

Priscilla had taught her, in her own way, how to be a friend-- what it was like to have someone paying attention to your likes and dislikes... To an extent, at least.

If it had not been for her friendship with the pinkette, Kat might have reached a point of no return when it came to the wildness within her. Certainly, there were some things that she had continued to say for the sake of shock value, but she tried to be more refined, and in doing so more doors had opened.

Despite the access that she now had to the credit of Professor Cappello, formerly of DCU and now currently teaching at Romano's between 'side projects', there were some things that Katrina preferred to spend her own money on. She maintained the rent and utilities on a one bedroom apartment, so small there was barely room for the things she had stuffed in there. Currently, along with her own scattered belongings, her apartment was housing the project she'd been working on-- the perfect gift for Prissy.

A Valentine's birthday with her beau back in town, Kat was certain that Prissy would have other things on her mind than a girl's night out at the movies, as had been the means of celebration in years passed. They could reschedule, certainly, but after the intense care and effort her bestie had put into things the year prior for her own twenty-first, Kat didn't want to just do nothing. The something that she had in mind was another thing paid for out of her own pocket.

Her first purchase had been entirely impulsive. Late at night, half a bottle of wine down, Katrina had taken advantage of an after Christmas, pre-Valentine's sale to purchase an oversized plush bear. It would have been better pink, but...

Kat made up for the lack of pink by fixing an oversized coin purse around the bear's neck. It was the contents of the pouch that had taken the longest to decide on. There was only so much that she could fit in something that size and she wanted to make it count... She started with a bracelet that she'd been slowly saving up for since last year, enough room left for Prissy to add additional charms if she wanted to. The last things to join in were merely add-ons, although meaningful ones: a Deadpool sticker, a twenty-five dollar giftcard to the local movie theater and a handwritten note, folded down to fit.

The Folded Paper Note
I remember twenty-one like it was yesterday. Here's to twenty-three and a hundred more.

More important than Valentine's, happy birthday dearest friend of mine.

The final touch in place, Katrina taped off the box and prepared it for transit, determined to make sure it arrived in time and safely somewhere that the birthday girl would see.

Ghouliboo
Belated, with love.
