After his spectacular defeats at the hands of Dai and the Deathsweeper, Kent should have been training a lot harder than he was. Instead, he was spending far too much time in the ocean, plucking runestones out from under the noses of freakish, toothy monsters. It made him feel like a productive badass, a mood that was infinitely preferable to useless weakling.
He had intended to stop by Gretchen's room today to see when she had time to cash in her dare, but then he'd woken up like... this. Very, very small. Positively petite. Ego-crushingly wee. Linus seemed more amused than disturbed by the whole thing, and while Kent was trying to let a little of that rub off on him, he was still jumping at nearly every shuffle, creak, or thump the world around him made, regardless of how mundane its source. Now that he had made it off of his bed and out of his room the threat of immediate peril had lessened somewhat, but that didn't mean...
Kenton had almost reached her door when he heard something new: the tap tap tap of chitinous appendages on the floor behind him. He turned quickly, sucking in a sharp breath at the creature now in front of him. Something about it seemed juvenile, playful, but there proved to be nothing fun about the situation when the bug darted forward and clamped its mandibles around Kent's shoulder, wiggling a little like it was testing his sturdiness.
"heLP! HELP." He summoned Linus and tapped at the creature's wings a little, but although it did let go, the bug looked no more injured than it had before. It did seem curious, however, and as it dropped the ball of lint it had been carrying, its demeanor went from 'hello small toy' to 'hello small thing I want to bite.'
