Not the usual circus fanfare, but an odd, twisted, music box melody that you can't quite pinpoint. It wavers in and out like a badly tuned radio, and every time you think you still hear it, you don't.
It was weird, she usually wasn't this tired during the day if she had slept well. It was only when she had to stay up incredibly late or all night that she would be this tired. And this felt like she had decided to stay up all last night. But that couldn't have been. She knew she had fallen asleep and slept the whole time last night, right?
There was something ringing in her ears, and she couldn't quite hear it. For now it wasn't that bad, and was probably just static or something, like ear-ringing when everything was nice and quiet. She looked around, hoping to find her practice partner. The night had been busy, really busy, and it felt like he'd been all over the place doing all sorts of things. From seeing cobras try and bite someone to whatever meeting they'd had early in the evening to going to lay down in his tent. He'd done everything it seemed. Now he had animals to take care of, and stables to clean, he was just glad he was not the only one tasked with such. There was no way one person could do it all, considering the amount of animals they had.
When he finally arrived, after a short rest, he found Stacey where she should be. He himself was dressed in clothing he could afford to get dirty, as there was little doubt they would get dirty with this job. "Ready to get started?" He questioned while going for a rake so he could gather up the dirty hay to be thrown out.
"Sorry I'm a bit late. Tonight's been an odd night." He hoped she'd understand and not ask further, he had no real way to explain it and he didn't want to sound like he was going crazy - he'd leave that to others. "I want to get this done so we can turn in. So lets work quick."

Stacey felt a bit better when Alex had finally arrived for the night. For some reason she was feeling... out of sorts? Just like she was some place where she actually didn't know where she was, or what she was doing here. But that couldn't be right. She had been in the circus for a while now, she was supposed to be here helping in the animal stables...
She didn't ask him any questions though when he came in, and instead just gave him a nod of understanding. It was an odd night tonight. "Fine with me. If you want to start over on that side" She said, pointing to the opposite side from where she was, "and I'll do this one, and hopefully we'll get this done pretty quickly!" She said, quickly grabbing a broom to try and sweep up some of the hay that managed to find itself, well, everywhere and on everything.
Suddenly though, she thought she heard... music? But it was weird. Nothing should be playing and it certainly didn't sound like anything the circus usually played. It almost sounded like a goth circus or something, if such a thing existed. She paused for a minute, trying to find out where it was coming from, but suddenly she couldn't hear it anymore. She then shrugged her shoulders, figuring that it had just been her imagination... right.

"You know that pretty quickly isn't all that quick - right?" He questioned her, with a quirking of his lips. Nothing was quick when it came to cleaning up the animal stables - never. It was just the nature of what this task was which ensured it would never be a quick chore to do, though it was one of the most important things to do. They didn't need violations, or people screaming animal abuse and such. They also didn't all need to suffer the smell from an unclean animal stable.
Grabbing himself a rake, and a scoop, he figured he'd handle the dirtier task...cleaning up the s**t, literally. This really wasn't something he liked, and why would he? He honestly doubted anyone wanted or even liked cleaning the stables, it was a messy task.
If what she heard, unknown to him, was her imagination than her imagination decided to leave her and visit Alexandre. As soon after she stopped hearing it he started to. Some sort of distorted music that reminded him a bit of what they played...but it was wrong also - very wrong. It was creepy. Who would be playing music at this hour anyway? Not to mention the type of music...it wasn't normal that was for certain.
"Do you hear something? Or is it just me?" Calling from where he was working on cleaning, while trying to ignore what he heard...till it stopped suddenly.

It wasn't very mature of Stacey, but she quickly stuck out her tongue at Alex when he joked with her a bit. Well, it's not like she had to be an adult here anyway! At least she didn't have bills to pay and all of that boring stuff. She could just live her life in the circus. She was pretty sure it would last for a while...
She had started to clean up her side a bit, and then, the music! It started again! It was grating on her nerves, not only because it was annoying, but it was so freaking creepy! But just as before, when she had tried to listen to it, suddenly it disappeared again. However, it seemed that even Alex was hearing it too now, if his question told her anything.
"I think it's music. But every time I try to listen for it, suddenly everything is silent again." She sometimes wished she could punch sound, it would come in handy to punch annoying music like the one that was now bothering them. "Suddenly when I forget about it, I hear it again! It's so freaky!"

"It's also not what we play here...unless someones gotten into some creepy sort of music and is playing it too loudly." Which he doubted was the case, someone would have found the person and told them to turn their music down by now. But it was still a possibility - right? Though honestly he couldn't picture anyone liking such creepy music, it sounded really wrong to him.
"I think we should hurry up and head back to our tents. Maybe whatever this is will be solved by the morning...or it'll come up at breakfast." At least he could hope for that. He didn't want to face whatever this was, it wasn't his job. He wasn't the ringmaster here, he was just a worker. Right?

Stacey agreed with him. "Yeah, I think you're right. And then maybe we can go and complain to uh..." Who would they complain to? Who was her boss? Wasn't she... her own boss? Another feeling that something just wasn't right here. She sighed, trying to will the thoughts away. "I agree. Let's hurry it up then." She said as she tried to sweep and clean faster than she had been before.
She got it done in half the time she usually did, and made sure to double check that they hadn't missed anything in their cleaning. "Right now we just... need to find who to complain to about this." She said as they both exited the stables, making sure that whatever music had been playing, that she couldn't hear it anymore.Sleet Tempest Snape All right, end post! Thanks so much!
